Are florists more successful than gift baskets biz for sending gifts?

I was thinking of doing an online gift basket biz but don't want to waste my time if people think of florists first when wanting to send someone a gift. What do you think?
--------------------
Florists are more successful than gift basket stores. I work in a florist and we not only do arrangements but we do gift baskets. Our flower shop's arrangements and gifts are also available for purchase online, so it easy to shop for too. We provide service for almost the entire houston because we own 10 stores in Houston. It depends on good management also. We don't sell anything with poor quality ever. Our florist has many regular customers and we always get new customers that become regular customers every week. So yes, I would believe that people would be more likely to go to a florist because of the variety of gifts (flower arrangements, gift & fruit baskets, chocolates) than a gift basket business.

Would gift baskets be a good present for Christmas?

I've never made gift baskets, but with money being kinda tight, it's the only thing I can think of besides getting gift cards, which I really don't want to do, just for the reason that I feel they are not a thoughtful gift (no offense)
--------------------
Yeah, you can make them really personalized. If you know the people well enough to know what little things they like and would use, then it's a great idea! On the other hand, if it's for someone you don't know well, you're apt to get things that they don't like or need, but I don't think that's your situation. Go for it, and have fun! Make it as specific to the person as you can, and include a really nice note about your favorite memories of that person from the past year.

Would you patronize a gift store that lets you create your own gift baskets/bags at a reasonable price?

I have an idea of a store where you can walk in and choose X amount of gift items, the type of basket or bag you would like, and have it nicely put together for you while you enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks. Prices would be based on the number and type of items you choose. The atmosphere will be more like a spa instead of a cheap Dollar store.
--------------------
I think it's an excellent idea because people are choosing their own style with the guidance of a professional to help them with ideas. I'm not all that creative, but would love to give someone a nice gift basket. Most of the ones you see in stores are too generic and contain a lot of items people don't want. Go for it!!

So my hubby are a little tight on money as we are trying to save all the money we can for our little one on the way. However, that won't make me skip Christmas, we just have to be a little creative. Are there any more ideas of what to add to gift baskets of personal travel size top of the line products?

We've started making pretty packages with travel size items practical for weekend travelers. We are marketing them at small craft fairs and flea markets. Other than moisturizers, shampoos, conditioners, bar and liquid soaps and body washes, deodorants, toothbrushes, toothpaste and mouthwashes, are there any other "must have" products for men and women? Also, we are putting them in flattish round baskets? Would any other kinds of packaging work too? This is just to add a little extra to our incomes.

Hi. I actually found myself in the same situation a few weeks ago. I didn't even know that wine gift baskets were that common. But, I found http://giftwinebaskets.net/ and found some pretty inexpensive solutions. I got one for my boss for his birthday, he liked it a lot. So, I got my wife one as well, and she didn't stop talking about it for a month haha They had a special running and I was able to get a pretty big basket for like 5% off. Good luck to you.

Start off by showing a mother comforting her child during different situations while the child is growing up(ie.. as a baby crying, as a toddler learning to walk), then flash to grown child handing mother basket with "here's your chance to show her ther comfort she's shown you over the years"(or something to that effect).

I need some Ideas on a couple of wedding gift baskets for guests?

I am trying 2 put together a couple of different packages for Wedding Gift Baskets for guests to display in a catalog. I am working for a company where we print silkscreening shirts, Buisness cards, Greeting cards and so on and so I need to include some of our services in the wedding gift baskets. any Ideas would be great!!
--------------------
wedding gift baskets for guests? as in the ones you leave in the hotel for the guests? A couple different ideas are like a Winter one with a mug "Bride and Groom, date", powder hot chocolate or cider, some chocolates. Hand antibacterial lotion. Summer: water bottle, a couple pks of crackers, brighter food like sours or gummi bears. Can coozie. Food is awesome ideas. So are producing local maps where a Bride can place a couple local attractions. Nearest movie theater, mall, and anything unique to the area. A small wine bottle and corkscrew. One of the things I enjoy about gift bags is when brides put something unique to the area and directions to their houses. Perhaps something like Vermont maple syrup, or candy made in that area. I made a map with the hotel, rehearsal site, wedding and reception site. And printed directions to both of our houses. I don't know if it would be possible for a company to put that personal touch like that.

I want to start an internt business making Gift Baskets. Do I need to list exact products by manufactuer?

The beauty in my baskets is that they will all contain both store bought and hand made items. I'd like the ability to fill the demand without the additional overhead of huge inventory or tempory price increases.
--------------------
On its face, this doesn't seem wrong to me. You need to ask yourself if you are deceiving customers in any way. For instance, if you run photos of specific products that would be included in the baskets and then deliver different products, you would be on thin ice. Short of that, though, it's not unusual for manufacturers or packagers to substitute parts of equal value. The metric is something of a gut check: Does it feel to you that you are sending customers something with less value than you promised? If the items are of equal quality, you're probably fine. One caveat: Be careful how you represent what your baskets contain. I'd highlight the handmade items and then offer enough flexibility in your wording and pictures to make sure customers don't feel cheated.

I would like to make gift baskets with unique items to Bakersfield for our friends back home. Any ideas?

We just moved here and don't know a lot about what's unique or the history of Bakersfield. All I know is that many people could not understand why we moved here at all. So I want to make up some baskets with for example some items that grow here or are made here. Not expensive hopefully.
--------------------
The city's economy thrives on agriculture. Why not put some locally grown items in the basket? You could also add a local newspaper and some photos of scenery, nearby parks, etc. Try viewing this link, it will give you tons of ideas: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakersfield…

I would like to start making gift baskets ,what are some ideas to make them different from the average basket?

I would like to start making them and need help on some ideas. All the baskets i see all look the same . I want people to see them and say "this is unique and pretty".I'm walking by faith on this one.
--------------------
If you can't come up with your own 'truly unique' baskets, I wouldn't recommend you start your own business. If anyone here had something really special, we'd be doing it ourselves. No one is going to give you any ideas, that haven't all ready been done. You'll have to do that thinking for yourself. That's how small business start...with an idea YOU thought of.

Go to World Trading Market. There is one on the corner of Howe and Alta Arden. You can buy a Basket and the Basket kit. Cheap. Arrange all your stuff in the basket and tie up the basket using the kit. You just made your basket. I am a REALTOR and have done this for my clients. They are amazed at my talents. Its also cheaper than buying them because you can put more expensive things in the basket without having to pay the overhead. Any questions you contact me.
