Where can you get those big plastic bowl's that?

have "POPCORN" on them. I want to make movie theme gift baskets and I expect those would be less expensive than baskets.
--------------------
I had some of those! I bought them at a garage sale! Have you checked CVS or Walgreen's? Or maybe even Walmart?

Looking for a catchy business name?

My business partner and I are planning on starting up a small business providing personalized services to sales oriented people. We will send out follow-up letters, thank you cards, birthday and anniversary cards, gift baskets, etc. Basically, a hand-written note or gift to show the customer that they are important and all. We are looking for a catchy but simple name for our business. Anyone have any serious ideas?

I speak with my mail carrier almost daily... what is an appropriate Christmas gift for her?

I know the postal regulations say they can't accept cash or anything valued over $20... I am on first name basis with my postal carrier and she really goes out of her way for me. I want to give her something nice that she will actually keep/use. I personally would be nervous to eat anything homemade, even if it was from someone I talk to daily. I'm sure the post office gets a lot of food they throw away. Last year I brought the post office a big gift basket of panera bagels and cream cheese, but even then I worry they just threw it all out. Any non-food ideas? Or pre-packaged food...
--------------------
I think you should treat this situation like she was your friend, and not your mail carrier. If you want to go food way, I don't think a simple box of chocolates would do harm. If you decide to go the gift card way, maybe a nice $20.00 gift card to kohls or target, maybe even panera bread or starbucks, hope this answered your question.

Any suggestions to top off girlfriend's birthday present?

Ok so i want to do a gift basket thing. Along the back im gonna have 3 boxes of some of her favorite candies. Then in front of that i'm gonna have 2 of her favorite movies. All i need help with is something to go in the center. Nothing too expensive or anything because im on a tight budget!
--------------------
It depends on her age. I would say either a small stuffed animal. Or you can be sentimental and romantic and make up some 'IOU' cards. Maybe just buy a birthday card, then that will be in the front with her name on it and all the gifts around it...it will look nice.

Need birthday gift ideas?

for a uncle in his 50's. He does not get into: sports, gadgets, clothing or foods ( food baskets, restuarant gift certificates etc..) anyone got any ideas?
--------------------
If he drives -- how about a gas card!!! He maybe more of a memory man. How about a picture of you - or family pic restored. Just a thought! Surprise him with a detail on his car - costs about $50. Into Gardening? Moon flower seeds - get at Lowes. Blooms only at night and have big white flowers.

What would make a really great vegan gift for a woman?

I want to put together a gift basket / box for a very good friend of mine who has just taken the plunge and become vegan. I was thinking about putting together a bunch of really great vegan items that show just how yummy and pampering vegan products can be - it's not all sprouted lentils and lettuce! I know that she loves chocolate and am a huge fan of Booja Booja truffles, so that's going in for sure, but can anyone suggest other great food items and particularly girly products like vegan lotions and creams that I should include? I will be taking this with me on a long journey, so it can't be anything frozen or refrigerated. Think LUXURY.... I'm out to impress :)
--------------------
Lush have awesome pampering things that are vegan, bath ballistics, lip balm, shampoo's, conditioner, face masks, body moisturiser... Mmmmm!!!! I love Lush!!!! I have a wee stash of ballistics to really treat myself with every once in a while... A soy wax candle would be nice in it as well... How about a book on veganism or a jar or two of vegan pasta sauce and pasta if she loves pasta, or her favourite condiments like egg and dairy free mayonnaise and salad dressings if she likes salads and sandwiches a lot, or a squeeze bottle of agave nectar... Go to http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk If she likes gummy bears they have a pretty good sub at goodness direct, they are Goody Good Stuff brand gummy koala bears (type it in the search bar)... Goodness Direct also have the Booja Booja truffles amongst other yummy things!!! Just go by what she likes... *Smile* Have fun and don't forget some interesting and yummy fruit!!!! *Wink*

What is an appropriate thank you / gift for somebody who wrote you a letter of recommendation?

I recently received a letter of recommendation for graduate school from a professor at the university where I attended. I know it is at least customary to send a nice thank you note or card, but I am wondering if it would be okay to send something more, like a little gift basket or something else. I only ask because I feel like I have been close to the professor. Although we hadn't talked a whole lot over my college career we had drunk beers together at the campus pub several times. We also went on a couple study abroad 3 week classes to Mexico, and so he and all us students were fairly close. I guess I ask because I would like to get a little something more to show my appreciation, but I'm not sure if it is appropriate..?
--------------------
You don't have to make it a gift for the rec. then. Just send him a gift that is meaningful to you and put a letter about how you enjoyed his class and his teaching with it. Send a little thank you card for the rec with it if you want. If you really did appreciate him then just send him a gift for being such a good teacher and mentor.

need a cheap or homemade gift ideas?

Hi, I have a freind who has been through alot this past year, and would like to do something nice for her maybe a gift basket to do with the person she is but don't know what to put in or make as i have very low money. She is a physicians assisstant, she loves running and camping, seafood, she always wanted a barbie dreamhouse when she was little and never got it cuz her family was very poor, she loves to drink rum and coke, her idols are her grandpa and rosa parks, she likes giraffes but don't collect them, doesn't collect anything, favorite singer is janis joplin, favorite group is nickleback. So any ideas would be appreciated
--------------------
The best thing you can do is be a friend!! You can get some hot chocolate and white hot coco and make "sand art" into a nice bottel. Find a taco seasoning or chili seasoning recipe and pre mix the dry ingredients so when shes off work and needs to cook, she has some home made seasoning right there Find a list of things that make you smile and get a new calendar, write one thing a week (or a day if you can find enough) that she can do to put a smile on her face. Get a box, fill it with sand and wrap it. Tie this message to it! I took an ordinary box As empty as can be I filled it with a special gift And wrapped it carefully. But please don't ever open it Just leave the ribbon tied And hold it tightly near your heart Because my love for you's inside! Make a blessings jar Decorate a jar (it can be from a thrift store) and write some blessings in it, have her take the time to write some down too and stick them in the jar when she is feeling down she can pick out a slip and remember the good things in life can change it into a "smiles" jar or something creative like that. Ill come back if I can think of any more! Here is a retail blessings jar, there is a poem with it you can write down yourself!! Just as a visual example of what I mean! http://www.ournameismud.com/product.cfm?…

Is this really awful as a wedding gift?

A couple I barely know invited me to a wedding. I do know they are rather poor, and starting out an entirely new household. I am rather poor and have been unemployed for quite sometime. On the bridal registry there were several sets of luxury sheet sets. Someone gave me one of those sets this spring - I had them on the bed for a week, and decided that "ivory" was simply too yellow for my tastes. I washed them, put them in the closet and forgot about them. If I were to wash them, go over them with a fine toothed comb for lint, press them very well, tie them with ribbons, place them in a wicker gift basket, and have the thing shrink wrapped would it be so awful to give as a gift? Let me know what you think - I would like to give them something they requested, but couldn't afford it otherwise.
--------------------
I have to disagree with most of your responders. I think it's a lovely idea. I've been poor for quite sometime myself, so I understand. I have given unconventional gifts for Christmas the past few years, and no one has thought worse of me for it. Since you said there is nothing wrong with the sheets and they're nice, my biggest concern would be messing up their registry ... getting them one more of something than they need. But I don't think you can have too many sets of nice sheets, so that should be okay. What I would do if I were you, is sometime after the wedding find an appropriate time to explain the how and why behind your gift. If they know you're poor and having problems they will be especially touched that you parted with something so nice and went to so much trouble to make it presentable. It really is the thought that counts.

I want to know what the best ways to advertise for valentine's day?

I sell gift baskets and I am looking for a way to reach people to sell my gift baskets for valentin's day. thanks for your help. giftsfromgracie.com
--------------------
It seems a lot of people hate Valentine's Day if they do not have a special someone. Why not try making V-Day gift baskets for people to give to the OTHER loved ones in their lives. Moms, Dads, best friends. Make it a celebration of all-inclusive love. Not just lovers.

What can I use to make a gift basket without actually using a basket?

I love the idea of buying (for my sister) a bunch of cake, muffin, brownie and cookie mixes but I haven't a clue WHAT to put it in. She's only 14 so an actual basket seems a little bit mature. I was kind of leaning toward some sort of organizer thingy majigger because she's very neat and tidy. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Keep in mind that I'd like that "basket" to be quite cheap; it cannot be over $10 because I am on a tight budget and I only have about $20 to spend on her overall. I'm shooting for as many baking mixes as possible and I don't want to waste money on a container/basket/whatchamacallit she might not ever use or care about.
--------------------
Dollar Tree sells clear plastic bins with lids that can be re-used for crafts, school supplies, stationary, makeup, hair stuff and would be perfect to use for gifts. I did this a few years ago for my daughter and filled the plastic bin with scrap booking stuff (also sold at Dollar Tree). Merry Christmas!

Does my Valentine's Day gift idea sound ok?

I was going to get a basket and make a little gift basket. In it i going to put two big hershey kisses (bigger than normal size, 7oz). Also, I special ordered a candy bar that has a wrapper with a pic of me and my gf, along with a nice saying on it. And finally i bought a lil glass key thing that says "you hold the key to my heart". Other than that i have a extra big Valentine's day card, which i'm going to write in it. Any opinions, comments, or ideas? Thank you!!

I think that is a good idea. You could add a single rose with the basket.

For those of you with your own home, idea for present?

I'm 19 and am attending college for nursing so I only have a part time job just to get my by. Anyway, for my aunts and uncles I wanted to make a basket gift. Each family is different so I'm not really sure what to put in the baskets. I thought maybe some coffee (they all drink coffee) and a great biscuit recipe or something like that. I really have no idea, so what kinds of things would you like? I just need some ideas.
--------------------
I think the coffee and biscuit recipe is a great idea! You could put them in a cute little basket (or box). Put green tissue paper down and arrange the stuff in it. Arrange some candy canes in for some color and stick in a great Christmas card. (Wow I'm getting ideas for myself now...). Maybe grab some cute Christmas-y knick knacks from the dollar store and stick in :) Doesn't have to be expensive gifts, it's the thought that counts. Thanks for the idea!

How do you tell someone you don't like the gift they gave you?

We all know that yesterday was Valentine's Day. And after almost seven years of marriage, my husband gives me a gift basket! A gift basket! To me a gift basket is something you give your neighbor, your mother-in-law or even a co-worker. No real thought goes into a gift basket. Someone else carefully selected the items and placed them in a basket. Most of the items in there are things I don't even like. My feelings are hurt. Now that I've had time to think about it, I know a lot of things I could have said to him, but didn't. Now it's to late to say these things. How to I bring up the subject the day after the gift was given to tell him how I feel?
--------------------
You sound spoiled and unappreciative. You said it took no real thought, if he had no real thought he would have bought you 'nothing'! Maybe he should have given it to his co-worker, they would have probably appreciated it! If the worse thing you encounter in life is a 'gift disappointment' then I'd say life has been pretty darn good to you...try and appreciate it!!!

Can I sell food I make in my kitchen?

My friend makes the best candies in the world. We'd like to put together gift baskets (containing the candy) and sell them at grocery stores. are the guidelines pretty strict when it comes to doing this from your home? What is the process? do you need a special kitchen? These would be made in Wisconsin and sold here too.
--------------------
Call your local health department. You will probably need a permit to do it legally and they will probably have to come and inspect your kitchen for cleanliness. Do you have any pets? Cause that's a no-no when it comes to commercial kitchens. You might want to consider renting a kitchen from a nearby business or school to do your cooking.

He loves food, beer, etc., typical man stuff.
