Useful baby showers gift ideas?

I am planning on putting a "basket" together, except instead of a basket, using a diaper bag. What are some things that the new momma will need, and get plenty of use out of?
--------------------
DO NOT!!! I REPEAT DO NOT give her newborn diapers! I was given sooo many and barely used any of them!!! I would also get her a travel wipes case, nursing apron if she's nursing, spit up rags, and a couple light weight receiving blankets. I'm trying to rack my brain for things that I have in my diaper bag, but that's about it! hats would be a good one too.

Is the "War" in Iraq the best recuting tool Al Qeda has ever had or could have hoped for?

Should Osama send Cheney a gift basket?
--------------------
Invading Iraq was not about terrorism or protecting America. If we had just concentrated on Afghanistan after 9/11 and not attacked Iraq, Al Quaeda would no longer exist. Instead the occupation of Iraq has increased their numbers to a viable force. Neocon ignorance has severely compromised America's security. The fools.

What is this so-called FARTLESS stuff?

I was looking around for gift baskets for the holidays and came across this site with some really wierd stuff. One of their gift baskets has "Fartless Chili" and "Fartless Beer Bread"... has anyone ever heard of this stuff? Is it really fartless? And more importantly, do you think I should get it for my dad? I want to get him something "different" and "funny" this year... whatcha guys think? http://www.pappywishbone.com/Pappys-Redneck-Hoedown-Basket/
--------------------
While it's a funny gag gift, I personally don't believe in restricting one's farts.

help with a wedding shower gift?

http://www.etsy.com/listing/50444684/cla… i bought this apron for my soon to be sister in law, but i want to add some more small gifts. i was thinking maybe some measuring cups and a cake pan with the apron or the apron a cook book and a cassarole dish or if you have any ideas. i am leaning towards the cake pan, because then i can add a cake mix and make it like a basket gift. most of the things on her registry are out of my budget range, but she did have a nice cake pan on there, as well as a nice cassarole dish. which would you rather have? i dont want to do a gift card.
--------------------
How about a cookbook with her favorite type of cuisine or maybe some romantic recipes since they are newlyweds. And maybe as a gag include a rolling pin, because every good wife should have one just in case her husband gets out of line. Just Joking... I would go with the first suggestion.

What do I get a couple for Christmas?

My bestfriend and her boyfriend bought me a mystery gift from The Buckle. I am going to visit them next week, they live out of town, but I am still not sure what to buy them. I was thinking of something in around $75 dollars total for the both of them. A few ideas I have had are matching Cardigans from American Apparel or a gift basket with lotto scratch-offs and other things... I am open to any other ideas or suggestions!
--------------------
The best thing to get ANYONE is a gift card! And they have made it very easy, they have visa as well as American Express gift cards that they can use anywhere!! Let them pick their own gift, and it's better then giving cash! I could not think of a better gift!! Good Luck!! :o)

Rabbis, Would it be permissible for a convert to Judaism to give a relative a "holiday" gift?

My adult son no longer accepts Jesus of Nazareth as the Christ and considers himself "Jewish" although he has not formally converted. I told him he should give his very elderly grandparents a "holiday" gift they could enjoy at Christmas time because they have been very kind to him and actually sent him an enormous "chanukah" gift basket last year. He said he can't because if it arrived before the 25th it would imply that it was for Christmas. Anyway I am a bit ticked off and would appreciate advice.
--------------------
You should speak to his Rabbi, since it appears that your advice will not be taken by your son. But if he is serious about converting, then he will surely listen to advice from his Rabbi. And from my point of view, as a Rabbi with relatives who aren't Jewish, there is nothing wrong with sending gifts to someone with a 'happy holidays' on it. Your son probably feels very uncomfortable giving a gift on christmas, as though he is in someway disconnecting himself from Judaism when he does so, and the reassurance his Rabbi could give - that it's common decency to give them a holiday gift - will probably push him to send one. He probably wants to send one as much you want him to. Good luck and have a Merry Christmas.

Would this be a business that could work?

going door to door selling coffee packs! like gift baskets for starbucks! it would be for about 70 bucks but you would have atleast a months worth of starbucks coffee?
--------------------
You are the only one that can figure that out. You need to write a business plan. Go to sba.gov , www.score.org or www.bplans.com for instructions on how to write a business plan and sample business plans.

He's a single father and we *just* started talking. Would a Father's Day gift be appropriate or creepy?

We met this past week. We live in the same apartment complex. He's a single father. We're both in our 30's. Would it be appropriate or creepy to give him a Father's Day gift? I was thinking of something generic like a gift basket of male shower gel, a bath sponge and other grooming products. He mentioned that he likes to dress up and I figured he could use this before getting into his suit. Would this come off as too personal? If so, what do you suggest? Thanks

Just do a card. :)

My Hubby's bro's wife is having a baby around mid Nov. Is this the right time to send him a gift. Plz advice?

The doc told them mid Nov and they are having a girl. I have thought abt sending a baby gift basket online (any other suggestions or links welcome abt gift ideas) Is this a good time to send them the gift or should we wait till a couple of days before or after the baby's arrival. I think once the baby is born everyone will be so engrossed, busy and excited, they might not pay attention to our gift, before would make them look. Thanks, please advice
--------------------
I think it's a great idea to send it now. Getting things in the mail is always fun, and it's especially fun to just stare at all the baby stuff before your little one arrives. You're also right about it being busy when the baby comes. I'm sure they won't overlook the gift, I'm just saying it's really fun to get stuff before the big haul comes.

I speak with my mail carrier almost daily... what is an appropriate Christmas gift for her?

I know the postal regulations say they can't accept cash or anything valued over $20... I am on first name basis with my postal carrier and she really goes out of her way for me. I want to give her something nice that she will actually keep/use. I personally would be nervous to eat anything homemade, even if it was from someone I talk to daily. I'm sure the post office gets a lot of food they throw away. Last year I brought the post office a big gift basket of panera bagels and cream cheese, but even then I worry they just threw it all out. Any non-food ideas? Or pre-packaged food...
--------------------
I think you should treat this situation like she was your friend, and not your mail carrier. If you want to go food way, I don't think a simple box of chocolates would do harm. If you decide to go the gift card way, maybe a nice $20.00 gift card to kohls or target, maybe even panera bread or starbucks, hope this answered your question.

I'm making my boyfriend a "spa" gift package to help him relax. I've included fragrant massage oil, a aromatic candle, a CD of calming music, and some bath salts. What else should I include?
--------------------
how about some lavender body wash,a soft sponge, scented candles, some lavender bubbles, spread some rose peddles around in the basket for decoration, some tasty wine for relaxing, and maybe a bath pillow to rest his head on

Okay, How about place to buy cheap but nice looking baskets?

They'll be used for gifts.
--------------------
Salvation Army, Value Village, the goodie store or whatever y'all call 'em. Look for ones that are clean and in good shape. Most of things were from gift baskets last year that were in too good of shape to toss but too big to keep. I also like to use big pasta bowls, pitchers, and other reusable items like gift baskets.

Weight loss motivational "gift basket" ideas?

My good friend just saw THE picture of herself from my wedding last week that has motivated her to lose weight for her wedding, coming up in October. She has asked for my help to lose some weight within the next 3 months (I'm in good shape, but have never struggled with weight) She wants me to walk with her once or twice a week and just provide motivation and support. So, I want to jump start her "training" by giving her some stuff to help. She already has a pedometer, water bottle and work out clothes. I wanted to maybe get some good quality vitamins, but what else helps with weight loss? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)
--------------------
make sure she gives her body time to heal (till the muscles stop hurting) and sleeps alot and drinks a lot of water these both help with loosing weight.

What are great, affordable, Christmas gift ideas?

I have several friends I want to thank this year with a little present. Im not sure what to get them. I am thinking Ill make a little basket of goodies for each of them. Any other good idea's to add to the xmas baking?
--------------------
I live in a care hospital with little if any storage for stuff - I sent every resident a Christmas card inside of which I enclosed a tassel made out of ribbon in Christmas colors or for the Jewish friends among us in blue and silver,to hang on their doorknobs. You could do something like that or a small ornament or last year I put a little bracelet with jingle bells on it.

Well, if your Best friends you must have pictures... something handmade is the best thing to do! you can buy a picture album and put pictures of moments of both of you together, also right comments and jokes in it! If you want something more, you can buy a charm or something that says: "BFF" ... she'll be really happy! also it is a great gift because it is handmade and handmade presents are the BEST!
