What do you think...should I use a gift card or should I give cash?

I am making my daughters daycare teachers a 4th of July ice cream basket. I am going to give them $5 to buy some ice cream but I can't decide if I should put it on a gift card or if I should just give the cash since it is only $5. Which idea do you like? Do you think $5 is enough? Thanks
--------------------
U should go to an ice cream shop and get one of there gift cards for some ice cream, like baskin and robbins or cold stone.. u dont wanna give $5 in cash.. good luck

baby shower gift for mommy?

I want to make a gift basket for my bf for her baby shower. This will be her 2nd child. I want to make it more her and center around her interests, since everything else has to do with the girls. It'll be more like a fun after baby gift type thing. Does anyone have any ideas?
--------------------
Things for relaxation - like a CD of calming music, lotion, tea. Also, a coupon book for bringing over a dinner, an hour of babysitting, a load of laundry, running an errand, etc, would be something that any mom would treasure! But you know your friend and her interests the best - and whatever you do, I'm sure she will be very thankful - it is such a sweet idea!

My friend is graduating Bootcamp from Fort Benning GA and I want to send him a gift basket. Can he receive it

I want to order a gift basket from a "1800-FLOWERS" type of place. Will my friend receive the gift at Fort Benning GA if I mail it to the same address that I mail letters to? Would he be allowed to receive such a gift? Thank you kindly.
--------------------
Send him a card nothing Else. When I was in Marine boot camp and any one who got food or a scented letter. Man you got in a lot crap over it. Most of the time the Di`s took the food. If there is any thing breakable in a letter that's bad to. when I was in they called you one at a time to grab your mail. they would have you slap it out of there hand so is to break what ever is in there. There not supposed look at your mail but they did. Thats just the it was and thats fine. Just a letter. He will like it. Send him some thing big once he is out of boot.

Got any ideas for a bridal shower gift?

Any ideas where you add a cute poem along with the gifts you put in a themed gift basket? All ideas welcome!!!!
--------------------
I did this for a friend at work: a breakfast in bed basket heart shaped pancake rings Bottle of fancy maple syrup Gourmet Pancake mix Griddle pan off their registry bed trays (you can even include a bud vase and juice glasses, anything you can imagine for a perfect breakfast in bed) If you include the larger items, it may be hard to fit in a basket.

What are some other good "Mini Bar" bottles to add to my gift basket?

I am making a gift basket for my best friend's 21st birthday. It is going to be filled with a bunch of the Mini Bar 50ml bottles. One that she can try to see what she likes and ones that just look cool or sound like they would be good. I'm looking for some really cute looking bottles or unique alcohols. It's going to be a gift from myself and a few others so we're all dividing up the cost. These are the ones that I have bought so far and I'd love people's suggestions of other good ones to search for. Thanks! Absolut Peach, Absolut Pears, Sour Apple Pucker, Bacardi Razz, Rumple Minze, Bacardi Big Apple, Myer's Rum, Grey Goose, Belvedere, Hynotq, Jose Cuervo Gold, Kahlua, Parrot Bay Passion Fruit, Patron Silver, Bailey's, Crown Royal, Skyy, Bacardi Silver, Captain Morgan, Jagermeister, 99 Bananas, Disarrono, Seagrams 7, Goldshlager, & Tanqueray.
--------------------
UV vodka has some good tasting stuff for a beginner drinker the pink lemonade is good but they have lots of other flavors. Here is their site. http://www.uvvodka.com/home.html Also maybe just add some shot glasses in the basket so she has something to remember her 21st birthday by. You can get some funny ones at spencer gifts. Good luck and be safe.

Suggestions of a great gift basket? its for my y grandpa who is on kemo for prostate cancer...?

My grandpa is on kemo for prostate cancer. He's not nauseous and still has his appetite, but is diabetic- so sending sweets is out. He is so weak and tired- I live in NY and he's in Idaho- I can't be there to care for him but want to show him I still care so much- Do you have any thoughtful practical gift ideas? I call weekly to talk and tell him I love him- I just want to give something tangible that can help him feel better... i think i should give my grandma something too- she's going through soo much right now with him being sick... (they just had their 60th aniversary!)
--------------------
Be sure to know if he is on any special diet before you send food. For example, some chemo patients become neutropenic during treatment. This means the the white blood cell count is low, making it hard to fight infections. This happens because chemo can't tell the difference in bad cells and good, and sometimes kill the good as well. During the time when the white blood count is low, most patients are forbidden to eat most fresh fruits and veggies. This is because the immune system can't fight the bacteria and pesticides as a person with normal blood counts can. Washing them does not help because the skin of most fruits and veggies is pourous, allowing bacteria and pesticides to seep through the skin into the fruit it self. IF this is the case with your grandpa, your docs would have went over this extremly well and your he would definatly know about. So, if you ask, he will be able to tell you. Also, sometimes foods that you love can make you sick while you are on chemo. The treatment can change your taste bud making things not taste right, or make you very sensitive to smells. This smell sensitivity can make things smell horrible and make you nausuas. So, just ask him if there are any foods he cant have or would rather not have. Other things that would be good to give would be crossword puzzles or word searches if they are into that. Good way of making the time pass.

Looking for a good, but decently priced meat and/or cheese gift basket, any suggestions?

I'm looking for one of those baskets that comes with an assortment or meat, cheese or bread. I don't want to spend anymore than $30 on it, but want to make sure I get something decent. It doesn't have to be a huge basket as it's only for my boyfriend and me to share. Also, I think a basket with mostly cheese and bread or crackers would be more appropriate because my boyfriend does not eat pork and most have mainly sausage or ham. I know Walmart and Target and places like that have a good price for these products, but I don't know which brands I can trust. The best one I've ever had was one my friend had ordered online, unfortunately, I have no way of knowing or asking which site that was. Does anyone have an suggestions for a particular brand to search for and also any particular website or store that would have a good value on them?
--------------------
Swiss Colony is my favorite, I always get good stuff from them. http://www.swisscolony.com/home.jsp?ogn=… You can find coupons and discounts online too. Here is an early bird special for cheese and sausages, that is 22.95 What I would do is get that cheese and sausage deal, then buy a loaf of bread from a local bakery that makes wonderful bread...about 5 dollars, and add that so it would be under 30 dollars, but with nice fresh bread! http://www.swisscolony.com/Gift-Boxes--B…

What to include in a basket for this woman?

She has a tumor in her brain and multiple ones in her lungs, and it might be in her blood, but it doesn't look like it so far. So far she's doing well with chemo and radiation, but we want to get her a gift basket to just keep her positive and cheery like she normally is. What could I include?
--------------------
You have some good suggestions and I don't have much to add. Concentration can be difficult during chemo - I love to read but couldn't concentrate enough to read much, so puzzles are a good idea if she likes them. My sister brought me the materials I needed for making cards; it was ideal, as it didn't require much concentration and I could spend as much or as little time on it as I felt like then put it aside till later. If it will fit in the basket, a warm and soft blanket is a good idea - another of my sister's gifts. I went from experiencing hot flushes to being too cold during chemo and it was ideal. Just a word of warning - it wouldn't be the best idea to include any perfumed items - bath oils, soaps etc. People who've had chemo can develop 'association sickness' where smells, that invoke memories of chemo can cause nausea for a long time afterwards - even years later. Many a chemo patient has been forever put off a favourite scent this way.

What should I bring for a Christmas gift for my boyfriend's family?

It is my first time meeting them because they live in another state. They have already expressed (to my boyfriend) that they have bought me a gift. There are 7 total: Mom, Dad, sister, sister's husband, and their 2 children, boy (13) and girl (10). I was thinking a Christmas basket that included things for everyone, instead of individualized gifts, since I dont know their personal interests (yet). Please help! Thanks!
--------------------
I like the idea of a basket of cheer. You could include things that can be served with Christmas dinner or if you are visiting in advance Christmas Even dinner or Christmas breakfast. I make baskets every year for people, and I love visiting the gourmet grocery stores to pick up things. Even the regular markets have a lot of the high end stuff these days at reasonable prices. You could also go to Le Gourmet Chef, Williams Sonoma or Sur le Table to buy components for your baskets. Remember to set a budget, and not to go over. Buy your baskets after you have the stuff to go in them so you don't feel you have to buy more stuff to fill it up. Craft stores like Michaels & AC Moore sell baskets that are relatively inexpensive, and you can always use the 40% off coupon from the circular. Here are a few basket ideas that I have done in the past - Christmas Breakfast Basket: Vodka & Bloody Mary Mix or Champagne & OJ Real Maple Syrup A fruit syrup Gourmet Pancake Mix Bag of good coffee Muffin Mix Rock Candy Stir Sticks Christmas Cocktails Basket: Bottle of Red Wine & White Wine Bailey's Irish Cream Several Cheeses Smoked Sausage/Pepperoni Holiday Sweets - homemade is a nice touch Fancy crackers/Bread sticks Mustard or other dipping sauce Dinner Basket (layered into a pasta bowl): Bottle of Wine Pasta Gourmet Pasta Sauce Loaf of Italian Bread Small pastries Movie Night: Pop Corn Sodas Candies Several Holiday DVDs that are family type movies for everyone to enjoy Relaxing Evening: Cocoa Mix, Coffee, Tea Rock Candy stir sticks Candy Canes Homemade Cookies

Does anyone buy their children an Easter gift?

I buy my children presents to go in there Easter baskets sort of like Christmas, so we don't have to do a lot of candy. My mother tells me it's weird. Does anyone else do it?
--------------------
I use Easter Baskets to get the kids their new summer clothes. It's stuff I would have bought anyways, now it's brought by The Easter Bunny rather than just being given by me. This year they're getting 3 new shorts outfits each, and new movies each, and probably some bubbles. We'll have a small egg hunt in the house and yard, and then go to the Zoo for the rest of the day.

cute, sentimental birthday gift for best friend?!?

One of my friends is making her a scrapbook of all pictures and like little letters from her friends, and another friend is getting a bulletin board and making a collage of all pictures of the four of us. I have no idea what to do! It can cost money, but it has to be really sentimental! Like, no gift basket or anything - i have the other material items figured out. I just need a cute idea like a scrapbook, or something cute and sentimental like that!
--------------------
I think a personalized gift is always the most special and unique~~. You can send a present, not too expensive or cheap, special is ok :) This time, have a try for digital scrapbook with picture of birthday person, which can be easily made with scrapbook maker program, don't need any computer skills. Digital scrapbook program offers premade templates, and photos will be quickly transformed into a sparkle SCRAPBOOK. Print it in full color at home and signature to send her as birthday gift. we are moving into a house, and the owners are coming over to give us a gift basket to welcome us.?

should we get them something as well? if so, what? (wine, cookies, fruit?) Thanks
--------------------
You are not in any way obligated to get them anything at all since they are welcoming you to the neighborhood. However, when they do come over and give you something such as a basket, I suggest you invite them in for something to drink and possibly cookies or a snack. Just chat with them and get to know them, accept their gift and offer to send some leftover snacks home with them. If they decline coming in, you can offer to invite them over some other time, but if they still decline, just thank them for the gift and you choose on whether or not to give them a gift. Usually a good gift is some homemade items and treats, maybe even throw in a potted plant. That is my advice.

Useful gifts to give to a student just entering high school?

My daughter is about to enter high school and a family friend would like to make her a gift basket of things she should have (or need) when entering high school. Any suggestions? Thanks!
--------------------
i would say...a big set of sharpies for projects! (i use my set all the time!) A cute change purse for money, and everyone at my school has those mini sigg bottles- they have some really cool ones and also, this would be too expensive for a gift in a basket, but a graphing calculator is a must. (especially for standardized tests if you aren't guarenteed a graphing one, and for homework too.)even if she doesn't need one all the time yet, she definitely will by the end of high school. I think they are around $130. We use TI-84's at my school

need some clever ideas for a gift basket, Thanksgiving theme.this is to be given as a prize.?

Thought of wine and a dvd, maybe some nice candy or nuts. would appreciate some more ideas.
--------------------
The wine and DVD are good but here's a few more ideas... ...Traditional nuts in their shells with a nice nut cracker ... Ingredients for making something out of pumpkin ... Festive fall decorations or fall scented candles ... Pumpkin baked items like bread or muffins You could even have a theme for a romantic evening by choosing a good yummy/decadent fall food item to go with the wine. The candle and DVD would set the mood.

What would you make with this?

Someone gave me a gift....and I hate to feel ignorant...She loves to make gift baskets and stuff like that. This contained a loaf pan, a box of chocolate chocolate chip cookies and a jar of raspberry preserves. It also contained about 5 recipe cards---all blank. I couldn't figure out what to make in a loaf pan with those ingredients. What would you have made? I did end up making the cookies as thumbprint cookies on a cookie sheet though, and filled them with raspberry jam.
--------------------
lol, good question! I think the loaf pan was just a "baking" item for the basket, and the blank recipe cards were for "your" favorite recipes. It was a sweet idea non the less...lol
