How should I wrap this gift?

I'm putting together a little package for a friend's wedding gift--wine glasses, 2 bottles wine, 1 bottle sparkling wine, oven mitts & kitchen towels, wine stopper. What is an original, useful and attractive (and cheap cheap cheap--like under $5) container I can put all this stuff in? I was thinking a nice wire basket, but I can't find any for cheap. Any really original ideas? Like something I could get at Home Depot or whatever? thanks!
--------------------
That's a great gift. Way more personal than some fancy thing-a-ma-bob that will sit in the back of a cupboard. Who cares what you spend - it's REALLY the thought and care that's gone into the selection of the gift that matters. Like others, I was thinking a laundry basket. It is inexpensive and useful. Maybe a wash-up pail? Another option is a plastic wastepaper basket. Most homes can use a few of these around. What about a jumbo mixing bowl or popcorn bowl? A larger roasting pan would be good but it might be a bit more than you want to spend. Head for the kitchen and storage section of a variety store like Wal Mart and see what you can find.

I need a creative way to present a Christmas gift of a donation to a charity on behalf of someone.?

My family does the whole "drawing from a basket" to pick a name of who you choose to get a Christmas present for. Last year, we decided instead of getting each other things, we would give to a charity of that person's choosing, which makes my mind draw a blank when it comes to creative ways to present that gift to the person. One gift we are giving is for Habitat for Humanity and the other is for a radio station the person used to volunteer at. Anybody have any creative ways to wrap/present these gifts to these people that doesn't cost EXTRA money after the donation?? Thanks!

Add a lottery ticket scratch off on the top of the present, this way they have to scratch before they open. If its a winner, then hey, you really made a difference!

Appropriate thank-you gift for...?

Bear with me as I try to summarize. I'm a basket case as I type this. Today, my beloved dog snuck out and got lost. We looked for her for hours. Up and down our street, the neighborhood, etc. Called the police, the animal shelter, etc. 3 hours into the search a lady approaches my husband, who's driving up and down her street (The dog was spotted once and the street is that location.) She asked him what he was looking for, he said our dog. She asked him to describe the dog; he did. She told him that yes, she found the dog and had her there for awhile, but had to call Animal Control to bring her to the pound, because the lady herself has an old dog and a) the old dog doesn't like other dogs and b) our dog was a stranger, so it wasn't safe to keep her, but she wasn't going to just let the dog wander off. I want to give her a nice thank-you gift. I'm not thinking clearly so need some suggestions. She wouldn't accept money-We get our dog back tomorrow morning from the pound.
--------------------
Get her a nice thank you card for making sure that you dog was safe, and a treat for her dog like treats or a toy. Or if the woman is older offer to have your husband do something nice for her along with the thank you card. Or maybe in the card you can write something like to repay your kindness my husband would like to help you with trimming your bushes and shrubs this spring.

Romantic Gift Box Fillings?

Okay, for my husband I wanted to put together a box or basket type deal with a lot of romantic gifts. Not like a sex book... Just really sweet things but I need help thinking of a theme and really good items!!!! Thank you so much!
--------------------
A favorite candy, maybe a movie he'd like to see (you can watch together and snuggle on the couch)... men aren't really much into the romantic gifts as we are. In our heads, it seems like a good idea, but in their heads they are thinking, "Great, a snickers... could've bought this at the grocery store myself!" My husband is much happier if I just get him something he wants, and then I try to get him something I'll think he might like to go along with it. Like for our anniversary, I bought him a new video game. But, I also painted him a little painting of his favorite Nintendo character (Toad) and framed it for art work in his office. He loved them both. One thing he wanted, and something he never knew he could want:) Good luck!

Birthday gift help!!?

My friend is turning 19, I need to pick out a good gift for her but I don't know what to get. She's very girly, really bookwormy too though. She was valedictorian in high school. She leaves to go back to Vermont for school soon but while she is home for summer she is lifeguarding, working at an ice cream shop and the Y. I'm not sure if any of this information helps with a gift idea but I'm desperate. I don't want to do clothes because I don't know exact sizes. But I was thinking about putting a little basket together of some stuff. Any good ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

A gift basket would be perfect,(Before i read the whole thing i was going to suggest a gift basket lol) you could put books, jewlery, makeup,a shirt, etc :)

Need a creative idea to present a gift and travel with it?

Hello all- my cousins are getting married at the end of August and they are having a beach wedding, being married directly on the sand. It is a second marriage for both of them, and I am the only one of my immediate family attending the wedding. My family and I decided to put together a basket of some sort for them, full of some little knick-knacks and 5-6 gift cards to different places. I thought about putting all the trinkets in a pail and shovel, but don't know how I would get something large like that on the plane. The basket will include a hat and beach towel for each the bride and groom, a boat maintenance kit for the groom's boat, bath & body works stuff for the bride, Hershey's kisses, a framed poem in a shadowbox I wrote for them, and of course the giftcards. I would like to present the gift in a fun and beachy themed way. Any and all ideas would be great! Thanks!
--------------------
I would have your family contribute to a fund for the gift, and then buy it local to where ever the wedding is. This way you save the extra luggage fee for flying it, as well as the hassel of figuring out how to transport it from point a to point b and the hassel of actually doing so.

what are some gifts i would get a father to be?

i am planning a baby shower with my mom and one of the things we are doing is making three baskets. one for the new baby, the mother to be and the father to be. we are already done with the baby and the mom to be but we are having a hard time figuring out what to get the dad to be. what could we get to put in the dads to be basket?
--------------------
something I did for my husband when we were expecting our first child was I made a basket that had baby stuff in it like "I love my daddy" bibs, books, towels, toys, anything I could find. Then I added stuff that he enjoys doing to like I got him some golf balls and tees and a few other small items that pertained to golf since he loves to golf. Then I found a poem that was about new daddies and put it in the basket as the card.

--------------------
Well, I am not good with parents but I was thinking of doing something like a charm bracelet? For your mom, of course. Then, every year get her a new charm.(Sorry, once again, I'm not good with this.) Then for your father...I'm not sure, maybe something for his car, or something for his T.V. like a around sound system. I know it sounds expensive, but I'm not sure how much money you have.

Jimmy hundred clothing?

Hey My boyfriend is graduating soon and I want to make a huge gift basket of a bunch of things he likes. He always talks about this really expensive clothing brand called jimmy hundred or something like that. Have anybody heard of it? If so wher can i get it?
--------------------
There is Jimmy Choo (womens shoes and accessories) and Jimmy Ryan Clothing. Your best bet is ask him what it is again and just type it into search.yahoo.com The second one wouldn't do anything for me....the jimmyryan.com.....maybe it will for you

Mom's 50th Birthday...Gift ideas needed?

Here is what I have so far... I got her a nice basket from target, so she can use anywhere in the house. Anyway, since her b-day is close to Easter I went with the basket theme. In the basket, i got her 4 pair of flip flips from Old Navy. A collage picture frame, with pictures in it, a cookbook, she loves them, and a sweet pea bath and body set. I just feel like there needs to be something else, after all it is her 50th. Any ideas of what I could add?
--------------------
It depends on how much you want to spend, but I think you should take those cheezy little plastic easter eggs and fill them with special little trinkets, like maybe a locket with pictures of her kids in it, or earrings. They don't have to be expensive, just sentimental and nice. You could go with sterling silver and keep it in the $20 range, or you could go with something more expensive and go with gold or something. I think thats already a super nice and cute gift, really thoughtful, and I don't think you really NEED anything else, but if you're going to do more, thats what I would do.

Looking for ideas for family gifts for Christmas. Help?

I recently moved across the country from my family, and cannot spend Christmas with them this year. I was thinking I could get everyone individual gifts (I have 5 brothers and sisters, some of whom are married with children ages 1-15). Anyway, I thought it might be easier to buy a 'family gift' for the whole family instead, but need ideas on what to do. I can always do food baskets, but my sisters and sis in laws are great bakers and probably don't need the extra goodies...I want something that would be fun for the whole family, even the husbands. Any ideas? Thanks!
--------------------
You could put in all the makings for a movie night in. Gift voucher for a movie, some packs of popcorn, and a couple boxes of candies like you see in theaters. Make a kit with everything you need for smores. Marshmallows, chocolate bars, graham crackers etc. Put together the makings for a game night. Get a family game like those Scene It dvds or Are you smarter than a 5th grader or even a board game. Maybe add a small tin of those variety popcorn tins. Maybe some homemade chocolate dipped pretzels. Or get the number of mugs for the people in each family. Add some flavored coffees, hot chocolates, peppermint stirrers, or some homemade chocolate spoons. Hope I helped!

Urgent question about Mother's Day?

I have been asking my dad to take me to buy my moms mothers day present for a few weeks. Last night, the night before mother's day, we went out and got her presents. Im pretty sure I hurt her feelings, but I'm only 15 so I can't drive. I've been making her gift basket and card booklet & flower pot & stuff since 10 & it is now almost 4am. Do you think that she will appreciate the effort I made to make this a special mothers day? Thanks:)

Would a craft business work?

My best friend and I were debating business ideas and I want some more opinions. We are both very crafty. I knit, cross-stich, paint, crochet, and other various projects. She can crochet, frienship brachlets, and other projects. My question is: Do you think that if we started an online business and then went into a personal store that we would do ok, or just be wasting our time? These would all be handmade items, gift wrapping, and basket preparation would be availble. Please share you opinions and ideas!
--------------------
Starting an online busiess is a good idea, but opeinging up a store that sells only handcrafted items is hard to maintain financially. Rent is expensive and you need to be open 8 hours. So you and your friend will have to be there or pay some to run it for you. Doing craft fairs is much more provfitable and manable. Here are some places you can sell online. http://www.zibbet.com/CrochetFactor/sell etsy.com artfire.com

Is this a good birthday gift for a crush that I like.?

don't want something extreme but nice and simple as I don't want to scare her :-) So I intend to get this :-) http://www.oldtimecandy.com/30th-birthda… and also perhaps buy some chocolate and then take out the chocolate wrapper with a personalized disney cartoon :-) I am trying to make the present cute. Example if I get 10 wrappers and 10 chocolates, then each chocolate wrapper I will write a personalized greeting on why I like her or why she is so great and why I respect her. Or I may even go to a store and get her name molded into the chocolate?? Of course that means I will get her few presents and put in a single basket or I use my creativity. What do you think?
--------------------
Be creative. Be simple. Be sweet. Show her you put effort into making it special.

some good ol' american pu$$y. then also get him a leather bound journal. so he can write about the things that he goes through. also have people write some encouragement notes in it so that he has something to remind him of where he came from when ever he needs that moral booster

How can i learn basket weaving on my own?

all tips and useful information welcome..just really want to teach my self to make more of my giffts for holliday gift giving and to broaden my mind basically ..thank you kindly.
--------------------
There are some instructions on the internet. And some old forums that you might get some information from. http://basketmakers.com/topics/patterns/… http://forums.delphiforums.com/basketmak… Weaving baskets means wet wrinkley hands!! Yes, you can learn this on your own. I did, and before I got internet connections for help. Look at the bottom of a basket. Lay the spokes out accordingly, with the weavers well soaked start placing them around in the spokes and pushing thrm to the center. When you want your basket to curve up, just bend the spokes up a little and pull the weavers a little tighter. Have fun!

Help me with a business name!?

Can anyone help me create a name for a business that sells. Lawn ie: water fountains; lawn ornaments; wooden swings; benches; hammocks; bird baths Home Decor' shelves; wine racks; candles; tables; lamps Personal lotions; gift baskets; makeup; est. Household coffee maker; pots and pans; blankets; est. We also have a variety of different camping and outdoor supplies. I am stuck..... I have been thinking for about 2 weeks now and I can't come up with anything... We are selling to businesses so I would really like to come up with something catchy and professional. Thanks.
--------------------
Are you starting a business from a catalog? It sounds fairly eclectic. If you want your name to help sell, you need to specialize in a certain area. Something like want you have can be named after anything. ...Monkey Business with a logo of a monkey.

Is this a cheap or cost-saving idea for wedding favours?

We are trying to have an economic wedding and kind of splurged on the photographer so we want to save money in other areas. Even though my parents are paying the majority of it and his are contributing as well, I want to keep the costs down. I love baking. What about this for favours: each guest would get two sugar-cookies I make (home made, I LOVE BAKING!!) in the shape of fall leaves (we're having an autumn wedding) with fall-coloured icing on them. Kind of like the ones at Starbucks. I would just put these in inexpensive little bags or even get a sort of crinkly paper and wrap them in them and tie with a ribbon (you know, the plastic stuff they usually wrap gift baskets with). Is this cheap or a good idea?
--------------------
If you have the time and the motivation, that would be very nice. Most people love cookies, and would appreciate your effort. A suggestion that if blocks of time are hard to find, bake the cookies in batches, wrap them up well and freeze them and unthaw just before decorating time later. This way you don't tire yourself out, and you are not dealing with a hot kitchen when you are trying to decorate. I don't think your idea is cheap, I think it is a good idea that matches your theme, and it will please you since you love to bake. And you are giving your guests something of yourself, one that they will like, too. If you are short on time, do the time honored and cheap thing, which is to buy pre-cut tulle, or cut it yourself, use the colors of the wedding for this, and fill it with mints, the meltaway kind that come in boxes at the grocery. Pastel mints or buttermints[that last one are pale yellow]. This would be easy to do the day before, and people appreciate the mints after a meal. Here, it is a custom to put a bowl of them and a bowl of mixed nuts on the cake table, Would'nt be a proper wedding without them, LOL. Comgrats.
