My brother and sister-in-law are trying to get pregnant, and when the announcement comes I want to give my sister-in-law a goodie basket with stuff to use for her pregnancy - nothing for the baby yet but stuff just for her. I have some ideas such as stretch mark cocoa butter lotion, prenatal vitamins, gift cards to maternity stores...but I want it full and brimming and exciting! I've never been pregnant before so I need ideas of stuff she can use - anything at all! I'm so excited to get a nephew or a niece!
--------------------
Your gift basket ideas seem great, and its very sweet of you : ) Hmmm perhaps some ginger tablets or anything with ginger root in it would be good to go in there, it really helps with nausea if she is unlucky enough to get it. Also the book ideas sound good : ) Or even some pregnancy magazines, the ones that have the real life birth stories in them, those are great. You could get preggy pops which are lolly pops to help pregnant women with nausea.

Graduation Gift Baskets?
My brother is Graduating high school and i want to make him a college survival gift basket any ideas......price doesn't matter
--------------------
When I was in college 20 years ago I always appreciated long distance phone cards and postage stamps. With cell phones and email they are probably not necessary any more (geeze...I'm only 39 so how come I sound so ancient?). He may never admit it, but many students are a little homesick their first year despite all the new-found freedom. I LOVED getting mail and little care packages when I was away. Getting little things frequently was way better than one big package. How about his university's sweatshirt and a gift card to the local pizza delivery joint?

How can I make a serving bowl look like a gift basket?
Im making a gift basket for mother's day and I couldn't find a basket so I bought a snack bowl. Its a plain white plastic bowl. The rim around the top sticks out and there are green rings around the top. How can I decorate it to make it look nice with things I have at home?
--------------------
Decide on a theme -- kitchen, bath, garden, books, or a craft hobby. Fill bowl with items related to your chosen theme. Use straw or Easter basket filling underneath. Wrap it up in a big piece of clear or colored plastic, big bow on top and there you are!

Where's a good place to buy things for small gift baskets such as coffee, chocolates, etc?
I'd like to find small packets of chocolate-covered espresso beans, coffees, chocolates, candies, or other useful stuff, to make about 5 small gift baskets with. Where's the least expensive place to buy these things? Should I just go to Wal-Mart, or is there somewhere more affordable online without a minimum order needed? Thank you!!!
--------------------
Yes, WalMart is good, but you might try a Dollar Store, like General Dollar or Dollar General, or The Dollar Store.

Looking for a charity that involved donating items to make gift baskets for homeless kids to give their moms?
When I worked for a business a couple years ago, we all participated in donating items to make gift baskets for children in homeless shelters to give to their moms for mother's day. I was not head of the charities and donations programs we part took in, so I do not remember the name. Does anyone out there know? Or do you think they just called a shelter, asked how many mothers were there with children and had us chip in? I'm out of work myself, but it's still nice to try and help other people who have it worse off. I would like to try and do something charitable... other than donating my hair and volunteering. (I would rather not do charities involving churches. I'm not religious, I am a humanist and just want to help people in need. Not to insult any religious people out there, church just isn't for me.)

Catholic Charities operates Homes for abused women and their children. Religion plays no part in this community service. Our group makes quilts and personalized pillowcases and totes for this organization. Most of the women and children arrive with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Call Social Services and ask which organization runs the nearest shelters.

In the state of Texas, is there a law governing the sale of liquor gift baskets?
I checked the TABC web site but couldn't find anything on the sale of gift baskets containing liquor. I would like to start making my own gift baskets (using different liquors that I purchase from a TABC certificated liquor store) and selling them (locally, of course... no out of state) but I'm not sure what the legalities are on something like this. No store front, just market through craigslist, first monday trade days, thru friends and word of mouth... that type of thing.
--------------------
If you are a Texas resident, shouldn't you be contacting the liquor store or the liquor commission as to the legality of your venture ?. You are reselling liquor which should require a license of some type . I am sure the state must have rules regarding repackaging product.

What is the right amount of money for a decent gift card?
I usually make holiday gift baskets for teachers. I fill them with hand lotions, candles, cookies, candies, starbucks card etc. This year, I had absolutely no time to shop ahead of time. I am planning to give a gift card and homemade cookies for everyone on my list. How much money do you add in your gift cards if you had about 15 school staff on your list including teachers, helpers and specialists who are all actively involved with your kid.
--------------------
It depends on your budget and relationship with everyone. Fifteen is a lot of people so even $10 each will add up. I would imagine $10-$20 would be fair. A $10 Starbucks or Target card would still be appreciated even in its small amount. Some teachers are using they're own money to pay for school supplies or treasure boxes so Staples or Dollar Tree cards would be fine. I try to limit all gifts, including birthdays to around $10 only because it can add up and you hardly know some of these people. Keep a look out for deals through out the year. Wal-Mart has three flavored popcorn in Holiday tins for $5 each. I'm giving them to all the teachers, bus driver, dance teacher etc. A tin of popcorn is not something I would purchase just for my self plus it's a great gift for movie nights during the school holiday. For the end of the year gift, I'm giving everyone a Scene It DVD game. It regularly goes for $30 and I found them for under $8. What a deal! I understand that Five Below are now selling the Scene It games.

If you are sent a gift basket of whole fruits and your favorite wine, cheese or snack would you like it?
I am working on some new gift ideas. If a friend or lover or colleague sends a nice basket for you with lets say a pineapple, some pears, some apples, strawberries and grapes along with a personal card and your favorite snack or wine or cheese would you like it? What else would you want in the gift basket? What wouldn't you want in the basket?
--------------------
I have recieved fruit baskets before. I always appreciate the thought, but I never actually eat all the fruit, or even most of it. The baskets are always loaded with a ton of fruit that's arleady ripened, and it starts to turn brown within 5-6 days. I would like wine, cheese, and just a little fruit.

What should I charge a customer to buy a gift basket?
I just started a gift basket business and I have my prices set already. Small - $10, Med-$15, Lrg-$20, but that is just for basket and decor, then I charge a different price for the themed items I put in the basket. Which is usually another $30 at least. Does that sound reasonable to you, because a few of my customers at first thought that was to much, they always want a $20 basket, but they don't realize when you add up the basket, decor, items, card, delivery, and taxes, that $20 is pretty unreasonable. Should I advertise it differently? I would appreciate any suggestions
--------------------
Yes..advertise differently. You are confusing consumers by throwing too many $ amounts or surprising them with additional costs. If your customers are willing to buy stuff for $20....considers other gift ideas that you may provide as part of your inventory. Use words like "Gift Baskets from $50" or disclaimers with "Additional fees not included" Good luck Business and Marketing Student.

Find a gift basket for multiple small gifts I have collected for a bride?
Any ideas as to where I might find a gift basket or box for some little presents? I live in between Georgetown and Dupont. And I leave Thursday night for the wedding. I don't have a ton of time to go to many places and look.

One of my favorite memories was receiving a gift basket from Crabtree & Evelyn. I just checked them out as I recall a store they had on Connecticut...many life times ago...but alas no more. There is one at Washington Reagan and also at Pentagon City Mall. Also, there is reference to a Rodman's Gourmet Store. Because you can include teas and soaps and lotions...they are always welcome in my mind. Just my thoughts!

Since you're taking her to Brodway, that probably means that she's a show person? If so, I think you should get a plastic popcorn tub thing and fill it with her favorite snacks and such. You should get her a gift card to her favorite clothing store or just an AMC gift card. Maybe get her a pair of shoes? Depending on your budget, you can find decent shoes at normal department stores. If she enjoys being the center of attention and standing out, a good pair of glitter Christian Loubutons would definitely make her happy. Good luck, and I hope you guys have fun!

I am a wedding officiant and have found that guests really appreciate the little things. A personalized bottle of wine, some m&m's with your wedding colors. A map of the area so they can branch out on their own. I gift certificate for a dinner or a breakfast somewhere. A picture frame ( they can be found really cheaply at a dollar store) Of course there are the lotions etc, but to make it really different, make it something from you. Give the basket your personality. For better or worse, they will remember it came from you. There are many web sites that give you ideas. onewed, wedplan, decidio etc I wish you many blessings in your upcoming nuptials.

I've decided to give my girlfriends parents a homemade gift basket for Christmas. I've already purchased a basket and plastic wrap, now I just need to fill it. So far I have a fifth of Southern Comfort, some oranges and a box of chocolates. What are some other items I can purchase and include in this gift?

What are some good ideas for a gift basket?
I'm about to be a foreign exchange student and I would really love to thank the person who made that possible with a gift basket of assorted baked goods. I had the idea of some mini banana breads, some cookies and maybe some individually wrapped brownies. Does anyone have any other suggestions that I can put in it? I'd really like to make it special and home-made. Thanks!
--------------------
What a wonderful opportunity for you! Congrats :D...and I'm assuming the person who helped to make this possible is nearby where you live in your area and NOT overseas..;)... The baked goods idea is great...I'd start out with a good sized basket (to allow for room)...add a fresh potted plant in there to one side. The other side fill with the baked goodies, adding the preferred choice of beverage for the recipient next to the plant. And then add a nice coffee mug (or tea cup if that is their favorite). Weave a nice ribbon around the basket if no handle and tie a bow in the middle. If it has a handle, weave ribbon around the handle and tie bow where it meets basket. A nice coffeecake would work...here's a great recipe: Preheat oven to 350^ F 2 cups flour 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp baking powder Wet: 1 cup soft butter 3/4 cup sugar....beat these 2 together for 2 min. Then add 1/2 cup dry mixture to this along with 3 eggs, 1 cup sour cream and 2 tsp. vanilla. Grease Bundt pan...dust with flour and add batter; Now make the "swirl" mixture: 1 Tab. warm water 2 Tab melted butter 1 tsp. instant coffee 3 tsp sugar.........MIX all and drizzle over batter using butter knife to swirl into batter Make Crumb topping: 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup butter 1/2 Tab. instant coffee......MIX into coarse crumbs, sprinkle all over cake BAKE 40 minutes...(check at 35 minutes)....When done....cooled, dust with powdered sugar. (If you can't seem to arrange everything, you can always cut the cake into thickish slices and wrap individually for ease in presentation). Best of luck to you :D!

Where can I find a vegan gift basket online?
I am looking for a really nice vegan (food/treat) gift basket that is fairly inexpensive. I have attempted searching online, but all I get back are products I have never tried before. I would hate to send a gift basket full of crappy food.

put one togother yourself, you can put what you like in, and its SOooo much cheaper, I've done it with cookie baskets, and other various baskets, its a much nicer way to let someone know you care, plus you know what went in it, and you know its not only yummy, but you picked it teehee

What to include in a romantic gift basket?
My dad and his girlfriend are getting married in two weeks, and I need to get them a gift. The problem is they pretty much have everything, and don't want any more household clutter, so I'm going to make a gift basket with items that won't last too long. What other than wine and chocolate can I include, that would be an appropriate gift from a daughter? Would it be weird if I included massage oil?
--------------------
Well, only you know your dad...is he pretty hip or an ol' fuddyduddy? Massage oils are a great gift for the more hip dad, not so much for the ol' fuddyduddy. Wine, chocolate and flowers are the safe and generic way to go. Look more at what your dad and soon-to-be stepmom really like to do. Maybe a gift card for their favourite restaurant, or activity. How about a wine tasting tour? Or cooking classes together, learning Italian cuisine maybe? Do they enjoy the theatre or symphony, season tickets maybe? Plan a whole spa weekend for them to get away somewhere The gift basket idea is great; put a few essential oils, massage oil, bath salts and a gift card for couples massage. Just make it more personal, what do they like as a couple? What do each of them like to do...golf, hiking, cycling, bowling, dancing... Good luck! And have some fun!

What should I put in a gift basket for a country music artist?
I am making a gift basket for a country music artist. I need ideas of what to put inside as well as unique ideas for the basket itself. Last year, instead of using a basket, we used an old feed sack with a rope handle. Need ideas for what to do now...
--------------------
Well, it depends if the country music artist is a boy or if it's a girl. Boy: Rope Cowboy Hat A picture of a microphone or a real microphone Maybe something homemade A letter saying how much you love their music A CD of their music that you made or bought Girl: Fun girly things like lotions, loofahs, lip glosses A cowgirl hat A microphone A mix CD A letter A picture A creative poster or card Like with easter baskets, you know the weird grasslike stuff they fill the basket with? Use hay or something of that nature. There are so many things you can do but these are just a few things I thought of. :D

What are some good ideas for a gift basket?
I co worker is leaving for a new job and the small staff in our department want to get her something. we are thinking maybe a wine gift basket, or a gift basket of sorts? Any ideas of what to put in the wine basket, or any other ideas on what to get? We want to spend under 50 and still want to it to be nice and thoughtful. We are also taking her to lunch.
--------------------
Aw, nice. I think you could put the wine in with two glasses, some nice crackers and a good cheese. That should be under $50. Another thing to consider is doing a "dinner" basket- spaghetti dinner all there, pasta, sauce, onion, garlic, spices in a little jar, peppers and maybe some hard cheese. Or, a "relax" basket- bath salts, pedicure kit, nice lotion, a loofah mitt kind of stuff. Depends on her life, what she likes and that you know she'll use it.

Lastly I'm also providing a link to some exceptional art prints - again they come with a choice of frames and papers 2) A photo-sculpture of a favorite pic! : I've come across the product where you upload your favorite pic and your Photo is then Cut Out from durable acrylic to Create a One-of-a-Kind special gift / keepsake, a photo-sculpture! Thats not all, you may Choose 5 forms for it : a Sculpture with Stand, Magnet, Pin, Ornament, or Keychain

Advice on how to start a gift basket business?
My wife and her sister had a good idea-- to start some sort of gift basket business. We're looking for options and/or advice on what would be the best and most proven way to go about creating this or a similar biz.

The above makes a good point, We too have tried simular interest and agree. There are all kinds of ideas that can branch out from your idea. Crafts can make a woderful small business. Remember you can add other items on a website along with your baskets, just offer the baskets local and offer other items via mail. If you are interested in something like that i would be happy to share a source with you: www.stockmysite.com Good luck, keep us up dated if you start a site. D

What to include in a gift basket to surprise wife with a trip to Paris, France?
i need items that i can include in a gift basket that i can surprise a client's wife with a trip to Paris, France this Christmas, for example the commercial where a woman unwraps a hot dog in a box and automatically thinks Chicago. I need a bunch of items for a gift basket that i can buy. just want some good ideas.
--------------------
If you want to go the kitschy route, fill up the basket with replicas of the Eiffel Tower, Napoleon and Les Invalides. But personally, I'd take a classier approach, and one that's consistent with your 'hot dog/Chicago' approach: Fill your basket with baguettes, wonderful French cheeses, some pates and rillettes (with accompanying cornichons and moutardes, of course!); and most important, French wine. To add a whimsical touch, perch a black beret on top. She'll know right away where she's going, and she'll have a lovely lunch to enjoy while she plans her activities in Paris. Good luck! Good luck!
