My brother will turn 18 next month & I want to give him a personal finance gift basket.?
What kinds of things should I get him? He is now looking for his first job and I want to be able to help him become financially literate and independent as possible? Any suggestions?
--------------------
I would get him a portfolio that he can take to his interviews that showcase all of this best work.

My friend just got a nose job. What should I put in a get well gift basket for her?
Only serious answers please.
--------------------
I'd say anything you'd give to someone after any kind of surgery, whether cosmetic or not. However, avoid giving her a mirror or anything that could be used as one, as she will still be bruised and swollen at this stage. Her favourite flowers should go down well, as well as any books/magazines she likes if she is still in hospital.

What would be a good gift for my parents...?
Long story short, my little sister passed away a few weeks ago, and I wanted to do something special for them in memorium for my baby sister. I had thought of the ingenious idea of getting a star named after her; but further research showed that it is only a novelty item, and in fact is not official. I wanted to hear some ideas from you guys for gifts that would be unique, different from the flower bouquets and gift baskets. Thanks!!

Retrieve a photo of her, from a time in her life when she was at her best. Either have it blown up a bit, or paint a larger version. Then, hire a poet to write a short poem about her and what she stood for (or you could write the poem). Make sure to work with the poet so that the poem has a personal touch to it. Last frame the work together. If this is done right, it can be pretty amazing. Good luck, hopefully this sparks some ideas...

Do I have to have a food permit to start a gift basket business in Texas?
I will sell already packaged food and fruit.
--------------------
Most likely no since you are buying the food from someone else. Ask an attorney in your area if you are really concerned. If worse comes to worse and you did need the permit and did not get one you probally will only end up with a small fine.

Fresh fruits, nuts, etc. Jerky, sausages, and stuff like that. Just keep it low in carbohydrates and high in fiber and protein. There are also sugar free candies which you can get at a lot of drug stores like CVS.

I want to get a gift basket for a friend who has helped me out a lot by designing the centerpieces for my son's wedding. Do you have any good gift basket sites? I was thinking of edible gifts, or a mix of edible gifts and other gifts. Do you have any good sites for gift baskets?

I'm making a Recovery gift basket, what should I put in it?
My mother-in-law is going to have a hysterectomy next month and is going to be out of work for 2 months. I want to give her a gift basket that has some crafts/goodies she could use so she won't get bored in recovery. She likes to crochet so I'm getting her a crochet hook and some yarn. I'm also going to put a heating pad in there too. Are there any suggestions of things I should put in her basket?
--------------------
I would get cotton yarn in rainbow colors and print out patterns for dish cloths. This would be small projects she could do and put down. Some nice magazines. Some special Tea or Coffee depending what she drinks. Maybe a special cheer-full mug or cup. Does she like crosswords or Puzzle books? Maybe some note cards and a pen set so she can write. Crackers, cookies, and maybe soup.

What are some good ideas for a Christmas gift basket, for friends who have everything - and I mean EVERYthing!
For example: they have a million $ + home here and another one in another state. So I'm really trying to think of something original.
--------------------
What about making some sweets or chocolates? You could make a box or a basket to put them in and decorate it, so it would be a one-off original gift that no-one else would have, but not designer prices! Maybe there's something else that you're really good at making? Or as they're so rich, why not buy them a large wallet to keep all their cash in? Hope you have a nice Christmas!

My brother is going to college, and I am making him a gift basket. What can I put in it?
Please help! He is going away so I thought f this gift. I want to fill it with something good, but please don't say FOOD. Thanks!!

That's really thoughtful of you! The first thing I thought was food.. lol ... I was a student myself! I used to love small bars of chocolate being sent from home as a treat. If you want to avoid food, how about some basic things that he might need but might not have, like a little emergency sewing kit (safety pins, black and white thread and a few spare buttons) or a small alarm clock so he doesn't sleep in late for classes. It depends what he's studying as well, I was a music student so I ALWAYS welcomed clarinet reeds and manuscript paper, but obviously that's subject specific. Maybe he'd like printer ink if he's studying something like graphic design, a decent stopwatch if he's doing sports or a good set of compasses if he's doing engineering... you get the idea. Try to put something specific to his subject in there, to make it personal. Toothpaste, soap and shower gel is good as well, they get quite expensive when you're living on a grant, and you don't always remember that you need them when you first move because they're always just in the bathroom! And lastly... a book of stamps! they are invaluable, I was always running out of stamps for letters. And maybe some envelopes too. You never know, it might even encourage him to write to you! lol Hope that helps a bit. I'm sure he'll love it, whatever you decide to put in.

If you got a gift basket full of sweets/other food for Christmas, what would you like in it?
Cookies? -- I feel like that's a bad idea since everyone pretty much has cookies around for Christmas? Chocolates? Anything not sweet? Ideas? I'm definately making hard candy and cranberry pistachio biscotti as I have requests for those from last year. Thanks!
--------------------
Almond Roca ( a homemade candy that is awesome) Cranberry/pistachio bark Peanut brittle Homemade cookies are great If you make jam that would be great too, if not buy a specialty bottle or one that's been improrted. I alway put a couple of bottles from England in my Mother's Christmas package. Chips & salsas are great for baskets popcorn & flavoured seasonings Nice crackers or a a few different kinds from a bulk store along with a seasoning to make a dip. Good quality hot chocolate Good quality coffee Good quality chocolates

How do you make a camping lovers gift basket?
yes i want to know what goes into this basket you will be making thanks

What kind of camping? For car camping: games like dominoes and cards; nice flashlights; some kind of propane powered gadget; other gadgets, like those hot sandwich makers or marshmallow sticks For backpacking: dehydrated food; "just add water" mixes like for pancakes; compression sacks; lightweight entertainment, like a small book or a tiny pack of cards. I'm still putting together my own backpacking gear so it's hard to think of other ideas at this time. For both: annual pass to a state or national park system; books about camping in the area or in an area they want to visit; a multi-use tool; gift certificate to an outdoors store

Items to add to a Bath Gift Basket?
For Christmas I want to make my family bath gift baskets with hand made (my own) items.. such as, candles, bath bombs, soaps, etc. Any other ideas? Even if you have an idea that wouldn't be hand made you can tell me too.. also need scents. I also plan on making this into my company so I plan to have product lines and different names for each. Any ideas for those would be good too.

Could someone help me find the perfect gift?
For Christmas I'm thinking of buying something for my whole family. Here's a little background: My dad likes tools, my mom likes dolls and chocolate, and my brother likes piano. Should I buy a gift basket? I'm tight for money this year and I want to buy something that will make everyone happy. Help?
--------------------
Dad: A pack of tools. Mom: A nice collector's figure and a box of chocolate. Brother: A new music book. A gift basket seems nice. Also, as for your first answer, she nearly had me install a Trojan. I had to clean that out...don't click on the link.

Another gift question?Ideas of what to put in a baby gift Basket?
she was born two months premature so my SLI and i might make a gift basket full of lil gifts . what things should we put in it ? oh and what are those towels called you put over your shoulder for drool i forget its been so long.So Far were putting in a Sassy Baby Food Nurser ,Sassy Teething Feeder, diapers, booties, princess blanket, and a Layette Set Thank you
--------------------
If you do include soap, shampoo, lotion, etc... I would go w/ the baby Aveeno. It's specificly for sensitive skin and most preemies have just that. Some laundry detergent (Dreft/ All Baby/ etc) is another idea.
