My wedding was thrown together at the last moment, My sister in laws HELPED a ton! Making food, taking pics helping put all the last mintue details together :). You should include a manual for various "maneuvers" that they could try. You could also include a blindfold or one of those coupon books they sell around valentines at Barnes and Nobles. It has coupons you can trade in for various naughty things. =] As a joke you could put a bible or a copy of Beaches in there.

I just started a gift basket business in Omaha,NE, what are cheap places I can advertise and get feedback?

I just started my gift basket business in Omaha,NE. I have my own website and e-mail, but when I tried to put flyers on peoples car windows to advertise for father's day, I actually got yelled at by a few people and got no calls or new customers from all that work. Should I continue to advertise on cars and front doors because it doesn't seem to be working for me. Please help!!!

I was in a wives club for the navy and we made baskets for extra income. Most of our customers came from flyers we had out in town. A few good places to post flyers are the post office, (they usually have a bulletin board) the gym, (they usually let you in the front or in the locker rooms) local super market small corner stores( we did mini marts) We also went to a few of the larger bisnesses in town and asked if we could include a flyer for their emplyees and they took the flyer and posted it in the lounge for us. We also dropped off 30 to each school to they could get put into the teachers personal boxes. You wouldn't believe how many hits we got from teachers wanting to give another teacher a small personal gift. Also if you go the school route a good thing to do is ask about back to school night and if you are willing to DONATE a basket (we did a movie theme for open house and a spa theme @ the end of the year) and they had our flyers out and a raffle for the basket. The school made over 100.00 on the basket donation and we got several calls for baskets to be made up. If you need/want anymore info on ideas or anything let me know! Good luck, starting out can be the hardest, but NO NOT give up!!

If you feeling like doing a lot of searching, see if you could find a cd of some of the songs that were popular back then. For example, if your boyfriend is a Civil War buff, try and find a cd with songs like Dixie and When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again. Otherwise, you could get a book.

I didn't run the business, but I was an employee of a company that recently went down because the market got so slow. It costs a lot of money to keep one of these companies going. You got to but the baskets, ribbons, wrap, and contents all at a cost low enough that when you add in your 30 percent mark-up and your delivery fee and pay any employees that you might have, you still make a profit. But it is a fun and rewarding business. How fun and exciting it is knowing that you are responsible for bringing joy to people on a bad day or a when they're sick or on a wedding or graduation day. Our company also picked up the local car dealerships and made baskets for everyone who bought a car from them. Also, we made baskets for local charities to auction off. There are a LOT of things that a basket company can do to get business, but there just wasn't enough of that going on where I live, so we stopped. The owner is still making them by herself though.

$20 to $30.00 tops = Baskets r easy to come by at ur local grocery store or any dollar store. Now what to put into the basket after lining it with green artificial grass also available at either store, try ur favorite cologne that he wears or u'd like him to wear, candy valentine hearts found in any mall during any season, choclates his favorite (Hersey bars, kisses, whatever), if u want to make it a little humorous add condoms or edible panties found in any pharmacy adult section or adult book store, sugar cookies or snaps to show how sweet he is, bubble bath for the both of u or just for him, small bottles of wine if he drinks or nips of his favorite alcoholic beverage, and a tape with ur (his and your) favorite song, topped with a wonderfully written card. Works for me, not to mention he'll be ribbed by the guys at work and admired by the gals. Guess who'll reap all the rewards? Bingo!

No there is no such traditional sympathy gift in Pakistan. Usually neighbors and relatives provide the food to the family members for couple of days and help them in some of their daily chores.

I would either go with bath stuff, or fancy groceries. If you go to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, you could put together a nice basket with gourmet pasta and sauce that comes in a pretty jar, then maybe a couple of bottles of wine, and some nice candy. Or if you do decide on bath stuff, I would go with lavender or vanilla scented stuff. What a great idea you have!!

Go to Bath and Body Works and just buy somthing there. They always have good deals..plus who doesnt like Bath and Body Works. I recently had a baby myself and at my baby shower my raffle was if you bring somthing from the registry your name will be entered into the raffle..which was a basket of bath and body works stuff over all i spend about $25-$30.

Preparing a gift basket for a pregnant friend?

We're due on the same day (!), but this is her first (my second). Obvious I want to do something fun and creative for her. I was thinking of a gift basket. What would you give? They are getting ready to move to our area with her husband's job, so I don't want to give them a lot of picture frame/candle clutter. Here are some things I thought of: 1) Pedicure coupon -- essential for the pregnant mom, fashionable to the very end! 2) Massage oil -- I prefer KY warming gel. It's great for massages and...other things. 3) Tums -- a staple for the pregnancy induced heart-burn. .... That's where I run out of ideas. Sad, I know. We're on a fairly tight budget (around $30-$40), so we can't do things that are just incredible. She's having a little boy! :-) We tried to find out today too, but our baby decided to be shy.

How nice! The above are all great ideas! My favorite things when pregnant were comfy slippers, magazines (not necessarily just parenting ones), Comfy yoga style pants & t-shirt, and my body pillow - all would be great additions to what you have so far - especially that body pillow. Remember how hard it was to get comforable at nite - this was such a great discovery - slept pretty well with it - and still do!
