present for a maths tutor?

My maths and chemistry tutor is a family friend. He's tutored me in maths for 4 years and chem for 1 year, and has been doing it for free. If I'd been paying it would've cost just over $10,000. I've finished school now and want to get him a present, but I can't think of anything. The cost doesn't bother me as long as it's not 'cheap.' Also I'd like it to be something more than a bottle of nice wine or a food/chocolate gift basket. He also gets alot of pens and ties form people, so I will stay clear of them. Anyone have an ideas for a gift? thank you!

Pie! Haha get it. Thought of that myself

What should I get my boyfriend for his birthday!?

My boyfriend claims to not want anything but obviously I want to get him something. Im up for something creative or traditional. He is going to college in a couple days so maybe something for his dorm or a college basket? But I dont want it to be too corny. Maybe some personal experiences of gifts you actually gave...? Thanks :)
--------------------
Maybe a personalized frame.. with a cute picture of the two of you in it. Something he can take to his dorm room and put on display so all the ladies know hes taken ;) and just to keep his mind on you. :)

My friend's mom died...?

and me and my friends are making a gift basket for her. Any ideas on what to include?
--------------------
Maybe things that her mother would have given her, you know like protective things, good advise, (you could each write a note and put it in the basket)...she could read them when she is alone, they will remind her she isn't..... home made cookies, some little stuffed animal to remind her of all of you, pictures of her with you, or just of you guys, it doesn't have to cost alot, jsut reminders that she still has you all and your thoughts are with her.....maybe some inspirational book on how life goes on, tough one, but it sounds like she has some great friends, I think your words will mean the most to her. good luck.

Baby Mama Drama!! What do I do?

My husband has a 4 yr old back home in florida that his baby momma just approached him with three months ago. He claims he knew there was a chance he could have gotten her preg, but they broke up a month after they had sex. So he never knew of a baby. When she called him and said they had a 4 yr old son, I was excited becuz I have had a hard itme having kids, and i LOVE children. Off top she was going off on him about seeing his son. So b4 his trip there I bought the kids sum cool stuff and made like a big a5s gift basket. At the last minute he asked me to tag along. So i did, we got htere and i got a hotel room, and rented a car. I never disrespected her by showing my face. He decided to bring Jr back to memphis with us for a month. We have been home two weeks with the lil guy. Ive taught him to call me by my first name, even tho i am his step mom. She calls OUR house daliy cursing me out. Sayin don't touch her son, dont feed him I may try to poisen him becuz Im jealous that she has >
--------------------
I commend you on being yourself and remaining professional. When she starts going off, don't pay her any attention. If it makes you upset, just pull the phone away from your ear. Sadly, you can't change her ghetto behavior. So remain the classy lady you are. Have you asked her why is she so upset with you? Suggest to your husband to not go off on her. Just tell him, to take the phone from his ear and let her act like a fool. She is probably jealous of you because of the way you handle yourself and you are married to her child's father. Children are smart and I am pretty sure, your son would rather be with you all instead of her because no telling what she is saying to him. Keep loving the child and being a positive influence in his life. Believe me when she starts talking a lot of crazy talk the child about you all, he (the child) will see that she is lying and she will lose out. Continue to be strong and professional. She will eventually get tired and may see how foolish she act and look.Whatever you do, don't stoop down to her level though I realize it's hard not curse her out.

End-of-the-year gift ideas for my friends? teachers?

I want to get my friends and teachers something special for (mine and their) graduation. I want it to be creative and maybe funny! For christmas I gave everyone a stress ball (home-made of course) by putting flour into baloons (neon)! That took hours, but it was worth it... and then put it in a basket with candy. I want it to be creative and memorable! I am willing to try anything! (Please make it a special idea) ABSOLUTELY NO KNICKKNACKS! *Two close friends (female) *one guy friend (not to be confused with boyfriend) *Five other good friends *Two distant but nice friends
--------------------
A CD of all your favorite songs, summer stuff like Frisbees and soaker sponges, pool toys, these you can make with foam from a craft store, add with permanent marker your school logo/ colors, the year, names etc. You could also take pictures of everyone and make a collage to copy and frame in frames from the dollar store, or use the collage picture as a front of a card you include with your goodies. Put everything into a reusable bag or small basket (also from the dollar store) They could re use at home or in college. Good Luck & an early congrats to you all!

Why is my Ex So Rude?

Yesterday was My Ex's birthday. So being the nice person I am, I sent her Roses and a huge Godiva Chocolate Gift basket. We haven't been speaking for two months. She emailed me yesterday and thanked me for the gifts and asked me why I did that. She also started telling me what was going on where she was about neighbors and things. I emailed her back and she responded once telling me more things about her neighbors. This morning I emailed her very early and I know she's been online and I know she read my email but hasn't responded back. What should I do? I mean why would she accept my gifts and talk to me a few times then stop again? I don't get it. I didn't say anything that she would stop emailing me.
--------------------
You obviously are still hoping to get things going again and you need to let it go. She isn't rude. She's thanked you and engaged in some friendly chit chat. She isn't obligated to keep up the conversation. Besides, even if she did want to, there is no reason she has to respond to an email the day it's written.

Should I get my bf's family something for the Holidays?

My bf and I have been dating 3 years (we're both in our late 20s.) For the past 2 years he's gone home with me to visit my family (and didn't bring them gifts or anything). This year he's going home as am I, but I am flying to spend New Years with his family. I haven't sent them a gift yet and cannot decide rather to or not. I sent them a gift basket last year for and my guy didn't even get anything for my family as we opened presents on Christmas morning (and all of my family members got him something.) However, I was raised to "know better" than to show up empty handed. What should I do?
--------------------
My feelings are that if you and your bf have dated for 3 years his parents are probably going to be your in-laws one day. A gift basket or such would be fine. I don't feel what the gift is matters as much as showing the recepient you are thinking of them.

Tell me if you like part one of my romance story.?

from a boy's perspective. So, there's this new girl across the street. Mom was like, "oh honey! that awful old house isn't abandoned anymore! A family named 'the Hickory family' moved in! go and say hi! they have a child your age, i hear!" that's just how mom is, that's just her personality. I know, it sucks to be 11 and live with her. Talk about embarrassment! So, mom gave me some extra girly stuff that she stuffed into a gift basket. When Mom said "a child your age", i assumed she meant a BOY child my age. So, i brought my baseball bat and baseball, hoping they like to play baseball like me. So I knock on the door right, and this 11 year old GIRL opens the door. I was like, "eew". she saw me and instantly frowned. This was no surprise to me, i mean, most girls did. "You a fag?" Confused and astonished my her philly accent (we lived in Ohio), i said, "A what?" She rolled her eyes and chewed her gum extra loud. "You know, do you...like boys?" "NO! WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT?!" i said, a little hurt. She raised her eyebrow. "You come to my house with a real wide grin and a basket full of fruits and body lotion." "True." She takes the basket and disappears into the house then comes back out and rests her eyes on my baseball and bat. "What's that's for?" "Oh, um...I didn't know if you played baseball, so.." "Hold that thought." she said, interrupting. She disappears again then reappears in some shorts and a gray t-shirt and her hair in a ponytail. (she had long curly hair, about down to the middle of her back, brown eyes, caramel skin and real freckles.) "Let's play." I was so shocked. "What? You wanna play me in baseball? A girl?!" She rolls her eyes. "No, of course not. I'm challenging you." By the end of the day it's 5:00 pm, and it's raining.Me and Nova(the girl's name) are laughing and talking. "Hey, you're pretty good for a girl." "You're pretty good for a wimp." "Ha-ha, very funny." I laugh. "Hey!" Nova's face lights up. "Let's play I-spy!" She says. "Ok." I say. "me first. I spy with my little eye something blond." "Blond?" I think. "Nothing out here is---" It was like a light bulb flashed above my head. "My hair!" I yell. Nova laughs and nodded. "Your turn." Hmmm.... this may be my chance. I think. I kinda like Nova, she's pretty, smart, and fun to be around. Not to mention she's the only girl i know who can beat me at baseball. Maybe, if i flirt with her through this game, she'll kiss me or ask to be my girl.(at the time, i wasn't to good at flirting, but what happened changed my life). "I spy, with my little eye..something beautiful." Nova points at the sunset above us. "The sunset?" I shake my head, kinda regreting my choice of smooth talk. "The clouds? the smell of rain? that girl's hair over there?" Nova asks. "Nope!" Nova sighs. "I give up. Tell me." "You." First Nova processes the information in her head. Then she looks at me, then she puts a confused expression on her face. She's taking too long to respond, so I take her by the hand and lead her to the park's bench. It's soaking wet from the rain, but we don't care. I remove all of her wet, hair(it's now wavy from the rain) from her face and lean forward. To my surprise, she leans in, too. Then, our lips touch and sends and electric wave down both of our spines. She breaks the kiss after 10 long seconds and runs her hands through my hair. Then her arms found it's way around my neck and she pulls me closer and kissed me again. PART TWO COMING SOON.
--------------------
i think 11 is to young to make into a romantic story. you should make the boy like 14,15, or maybe 16, and have the story be from the boy's P.O.V and the girl's.

A good present for my dad on his birthday?

Well, my dad loves baseball, coffee bean and chocolate chip cookies. I was thinking of making a little gift basket filled with these things: A mug with the picture of a bunch of chocolate chip cookies on it, filled with a $15 gift card to his favorite coffee place- the coffee bean. Then added with those two gifts, 3 baseball card packs since he loves to collect baseball cards. Then added onto that a handmade card (which I always make) and a picture of a chocolate cookie holding a coffee bean cup. (that will be a pretty good sized handmade picture) Ha ha :) Do you think that's a good present for my dad? He's turning 51.
--------------------
sounds thoughtful and creative that you would cover some of his favorite things. yea!

I want the songs to be both fun, easy to sing to as well as romantically cheesy....We are both really goofy and silly, so we like to have fun in the gifts we give. Should I include the an ingredient list?

I am making a gift basket for a benefit silent auction. It will be filled with items that I canned myself. all the prep was done to FDA Guidelines. The basket will include: Mild Salsa Hot Salsa Dilly Beans Dill Pickle Spears Dill Pickle Slices Whole italian Dill Pickles Bread and Butter Pickles Sweet Pickle Relish Blueberry Jam Apple Sauce Apple Butter All of the vegetables were grown in my garden or bought from a local farmer including the spices 100% organic. Should I include and ingredient list for these items in the basket?
--------------------
If the products are all natural and organic then including an ingredient list is of benefit to you. It makes the products more appealing and emphasises how much work and good produce has gone into the basket. Not to mention with all the weird allergies out there now, it can't hurt to let people know what's in the food. From a legal standpoint, the goods are not technically for sale, so you probably don't have to include ingredients, but it would be nice.

What should I get my mom for her birthday?

My Mom's Birthday is in 6 days, kinda 5, but it's on July 6th. I'm 14 years old, and a male. I'm Russian. I'm going to Russia by myself from America on the 5th, lol, I know. I'm thinking of getting a birthday card, and writing in russian, I might make a lot of mistakes in spelling though, but she'll understand it. In the card I want to say happy 29th birthday (she's turning 38 : / ) because as a child I always asked how old she is, she always said 29, then next year on her birthday i asked when i was a child, she said 29, so i was like how is this! you were 29 last year. lol. Then I was to say a lot of stuff, then close it with ps, ask alex for your gift. 9alex is my 19 year old bro). So then he hands her the gift. I want to pretend I'm forgetting her birthday, haha, so then she'll be REALLY surprised. So what should I get her? I have about 900-1000 dollars in cash, yes I'm a rich motha fudga, lol. I am not spending it all! She won't really want a spa thing, or a gift basket, so i think i wanna buy her some jewelry. She has a lot of jewelry already. Mostly rings I think. So, what should i get her? it can be anything.

That sounds very nice how about you get her nice necklace that is a locket with your picture in it with the nice card

You did a very nice thing for your ex and of course she accepted the gift. Her emails are those of a friend. She probably thought you were getting the wrong idea when you emailed her early in the morning. Give her the space that she needs. When she writes to you take your time in responding. Take it easy... you'll probably get more. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

My sister is getting MARRIED! I need advice!!!?

My sister and her fiance are getting married in August, and she's made me the Maid of Honor. I'm so excited for them, but I'm very nervous because I'm not sure what I'm expected to do... I want to do everything in my power to help her, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes either... What are the typical responsibilities of a Maid of Honor? I've also been wondering what to get them for Christmas. I want to make them a "Gift Basket" type thingy. I found a really beautiful oak magazine rack, and I already bought them a Wedding Organizer, but my "basket" idea looks... well BARE... What else should I put in the basket? I don't want to get them anything that's going to clutter up their apartment, (I was thinking about HIS/HERS towels, but it might be a little early for that.). But I don't want to get them junk either. My sister is like my best friend. What would you do? I want it to be heartfelt and meaningful, but I need to do so on a budget! THANKS!!!!
--------------------
Maid of Honor Responcibilities ------------------------------ Start watching a show on TLC called, "Who's Wedding Is It Anyway". As Maid of Honor you will most likely be in charge of much of the wedding planning if a wedding planner is not being utilized. You will have to collaborate with the bride/sister to make sure that she is tying up all the loose ends and that plans are made and details are not overlooked. Keep a binder with individual sections for each thing you are supposed to keep track of... with a front page dedicated to immediate things that need to be done. A 'to do list' with a date of when it is to be 'done'. Get a three ring binder with inserts/dividers that have pockets to put magazine clippings, business cards, reciepts, samples of invitations, place cards.... anything that you need to be able to produce at a moments notice for the brides approval. Make sure the bride/sister knows about this binder and also uses it to keep EVERYTHING together. This can become your idea book as well as your business book for the wedding. Make a budget. Keep track of expenditures. Keep bride and groom and best man informed of how much is being spent on what... and how that reflects on the budget. A phone list would be great as the second section. Keep numbers on a contact list of guests, florists, bakeries, photographers, invitation shop, reception hall, church, pastor/priest/rabbi, the dress shop... everyone that has to do with the wedding. Also, keep back up numbers just incase some of those people fall through and don't seem to be cooperating with the plans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maid_of_hon… Pre-wedding Travelling with the bride to help choose a wedding venue. Helping to choose and address wedding invitations. Going with the bride to help with the shopping for her wedding dress as well as the bridesmaid dresses. Going with the bride to register for her wedding gifts. Helping the bride with the seating arrangements. Hosting and planning the bridal shower as well as the bachelorette party. Maintaining communication and organization with the other bridesmaids. Attending and assisting during the rehearsal dinner. Attending showers and recording of gifts received. [edit] Wedding day Assisting the bride with her dress and makeup. Being the messenger if the bride wants to communicate sight-unseen with the family or groom. Visiting the reception room to check on the details. Helping to make sure the bride has privacy before the ceremony if desired. Signing of the marriage license after the ceremony. Helping the bride with her veil and train before, during and after the ceremony. Holding the bride's bouquet during the ceremony as required. Holding the groom's wedding ring to hand to the bride during the ceremony Making a toast and/or speech during the reception. Securing any money as might be given to the wedding couple during the reception. Providing emotional support as needed. ------------------------------- Christmas Gift Get her a scrapbook basket. Fill it with supplies for her to decorate the individual pages. You guys can fill it with pictures of organizing the wedding.... your last moments of sister-hood while you are both still single.... the bachelorette party.... everything leading up to the wedding. A pic of her engagement ring. A picture of the place the met. A picture of where they had their first date, or other special places they want to remember. Pictures of his bachelor party. Pics of you and her together. Pics of him and his best man together. A pic of you with your hands around his throat for stealing your sister........lol... or some other such goofy pics... just for fun. You guys can spend time together making the scrapbook. ~or~ You can have a seamstress embroider their names on some fleece TV watching cuddle blankets. Either their names ... or a His/Her theme. These would be the blankets that we all drag to the living room when we want to impersonate a couch potato...lol. Maybe even get them slipper socks to match.
