Is this reason enough to be resentful and bitter?

Me and my 2 friends had children all within a year of each other. They are sisters, lets call them ashley and britney. At my baby shower, I invited them both sepretly. The husband of Ashely, gave her $100. The 2 sisters gave me 1 "combined" gift that was a pack a of dipers and some diaper covers. $35 at the very most. For Ashley's baby shower, not only did I BUY her at least $200 worth of stuff, I bought her entire crib bedding, a matching twin set for her other childs bed to match, and gave her EASILY $500 worth of hand me downs and other swings etc. For Britney's baby shower, not only did I buy her $100 worth of stuff, I HAND MADE the bumpers, curtains, sheets, dust ruffle, basket liners, burp rags, and matching quilt! Not an easy task with a baby of my own at home. She was impatient and wanted to put her room together before the baby shower. She did not even mention the work that I had done at the baby shower let alone let me give it to her their. but what ever. So my child's first birthday comes around. I invite them both sepretly. NEITHER one bought my daughter ANYTHING! Not even a card. But they were there to eat pizza cake and ice cream. It has been 5 months since her party, so "maybe they'll get it later" is not going to happen. And they are both way better off money wise than I am. Now with both of their baby's first birthdays in the next 2 months I'm wondering....... Should I get them anything for their birthdays? Would that be rude or immature? I am seriously a little hurt by this, and don't know what to think of it.

Well, it sounds like your friends aren't very aware of how their behavior makes you feel. It sounds like you're much more generous with them than they are with you. But you can't expect them to reciprocate, especially with gifts. They didn't ask you to give them everything that you did - I hope they at least thanked you! I can understand that you're hurt. I would hold back on all the gift-giving. That said, it doesn't mean that you don't get their children birthday presents - a nice card or small gift is acceptable. Just because they don't give presents doesn't mean you should stop. I think expecting them to give just as much as you are -- well, that's probably never going to happen. Be the bigger person and continue to be generous - but you can do that in small ways. Good luck to you!

My mom is making me get her something for Christmas (yes making me, isn't it suppose to be out of the kindness of my heart?) I don't want to get her something too nice because in all honesty I don't really like her that much. She's 43, I was thinking some sort of make-up organizer because she always loses her eyeliner or powder or something and starts accusing me of stealing it and starts spazzing, then she'll find it in her make-up basket-type-thing like 2 minutes later. So if I get her that it's a bonus for the both of us. Any other ideas though? I don't have that much money and I still want to get something for my step mom, my 2 half-brothers, and possibly my grandma but she's doing this whole gift exchange thing that I'm not even a part of so I'm not even sure about that. And I already got my dad something that was $30 so.. Ideas?

Dang thats a whole lot of Anime!i guess I never really realized how much i have actually seen! One of my absolute favorites is Trigun. I didn't see it on your list, so if you haven't seen it, definitely check it out! :) There's 26 episodes... so its not a ridiculously long anime, but its not too short either :) Lupin the third is another one i enjoyed.. i have to admit, when i saw commercials for it i thought it would be stupid, and i was not to crazy about the art style, but once i started watching it, i loved it :) good luck with your anime search!

The Patriots cheated and got caught, "everyone does it" was the thought. Arrogant fans were in denial fought, unfair Brady Rules help is what they got. With the world's steroid abuse it's not the same, athletes are judged and put to shame. Steroids helped put the Bambino curse to rest, a World Series win over any ethics was best. Celtics had gone over two decades of losing, got the help of a former star posing, alleged rival sent the KG gift packing, a ring came with bending the rules backing. Bulling and trash talking is Celtics trade, hate from the basket world is what they get. By giving Boston kids bad examples they are set, to continue the tradition of the worst fans yet.

What's a good present to give my friend?

Well, my best friend is turning 13. She likes nail polish a lot. Her favorite color if aqua blue (sort of like turquoise). She likes to read and write. She wears stuff like eyeshadow and mascara, but i don't go into the whole makeup stuff. since i don't know anything about makeup, i don't want to get her..well.. makeup. I don't know what her favorite shopping store is.. so gift cards are out. I don't know what music she likes either.. so that's out too.. lol... i don't know a lot about her... =.= i was kinda thinking about the whole basket kit thing (where you put in lotion, soap, and perfume stuff), but.. i have horrible taste in that kind of thing. So.....basically, my last choice is to get her some pretty nail polish and a diary/journal kit. Please tell me if that's too kiddy or something. And if you have some other present suggestions, please tell me. ^^ THX

Should *I* buy this or not?

I was out at the weekend looking for a *gift* of a knitted doll to cover the *spare* toilet paper in my daughter-in-laws bathroom. She always piles the spare rolls in a basket in the corner for all to *see*. I went into a little craft shop and saw *just* what I was looking for. Pretty pink wool and lace sewn on the bottom and a lovely plastic *Sindy* doll. When I looked at it *closer* I noticed it said 'hand crafted in Wales from Welsh sheep' on the label. Do you think it is *safe* to use and will it hurt by grandsons?

I wouldn't take the risk if I were you. You never know what sorts of diseases those *Welsh* sheep might be carrying. You can get them made from perfectly good Yorkshire wool. I know, I got one from a little shop in Knaresborough but it's in the shape of a swan and very nice it is too.

What would you do in this situation?

Today is our anniversary. :-) My hubby's dad insisted that we go out to eat and gave us a gift so we could, and said that he was going to babysit for us. I really want to bring our baby because even if I leave for a 10 minute trip to the store when I come home he is screaming and my husband is a complete basket case. He handles our 25 month old twins fine but he swears that my baby screams top volume whenever I'm gone the ENTIRE time. Now he wants to leave him at home tonight so we can go out to eat alone. I'm just not OK with that. His dad has babysat him twice while we grabbed dinner and he has been crying both times I have returned but his dad told me that he doesn't cry much and just started to cry within minutes upon our return. I don't know what to think, do, or say. I really don't think I will enjoy myself if I leave him at home but I don't think my husband will enjoy himself if we bring him. Should I even go? Should I suck it up and just pretend to enjoy myself? I'm going to be eating as fast as I can and rushing through the whole meal- I know it. I can already feel the anxiety building! My baby is almost 5 months old, breastfed, won't take bottles.

Promise yourself and your husband that next year you'll do something really special, but this year, with a baby that young, a night out isn't going to be fun for you. So don't go. So i am due 16 days after my good friend, and her baby shower is coming up and i just have no idea what to get her. I mean she does have a baby registry but no offense to her but it kinda sucks the stuff she has on there.... I just dont know what to buy, i have a good idea of what to get somone but for some reason the fact that i also need a whole ton of stuff too makes me confused on what to buy her. I was thinking like a basket with like bibs and wipes and bottles and stuff, but that just seems lame-- then i thought to get her a gift card, but then she will know how much i spent, and i dont want her to feel obligated to spend a certain amount on my baby shower when i have mine... So any good suggestions would be great, and also things that you got at your baby shower that you thought were unique that not every person got you would be helpful.

I say buy something from her registry. She obviously does not think it's lame. For my baby shower all I got was bibs, bottles, wipes, clothes...... everything EXCEPT what was on my registry!!!!! I ended up having to spend over $400 on baby things AFTER my baby shower. I had only registered for the things I had really needed and NO ONE got them! I had ask for things like a highchair, bouncy, swing, bottle sterilizer, ect. Which if you put all that together gets really expensive! I wish more people would have shopped from my registry and it would have saved me ALOT of money. Now I'm stuck with 20 packs of wipes, many bottles, and so many clothes I can't even count!

Is it okay for graduation party guests to fill out an envelope with their name and address on it?

At a graduation party, is it "okay" to ask the guests to fill out an envelope that has their name and address on it so it is easier to send the "Thank You" later? Or is that asking too much? I would have a stack of envelopes and some pens and a basket for them to put it in, and I would "cooly" suggest they do it, but is that rude? Is there a better way that I could get a list of all the names of the people that attended without it being a formality? I just want to be able to send a "Thank you" to everyone, regardless of 'if they bought a gift or card', etc. I don't want to leave anyone out.

I think it is a great idea...Very mod...Go for it...At least you are making the effort to try and get the addresses and not making your parents search through the phone book...And it's not like every wedding, shower, party and funeral that you attend does not have that stupid sign-in book that you have to list your name and addresses anyway, so you're just making it a little more fun! Go for it! I know others will disagree, but you have to realize traditions change, but some people do not change with them...

I'd forget the fruit basket. That's passe. Why not try something from the bakery with decorations for St Patricks Day? Like a mini cake or cookies they can share with family or other staff members. My fiance is leaving for Marine Boot Camp on the 25th of May and I am planning on throwing a big going away party for him with all of his friends. We are going to do a big barbecue and have a blast! So far I've only found one website with party favors that have the marine emblem on them. I know I could just do marine colored plates but I really want to be creative and find some cool stuff! I also want to put together a going away basket of really neat things to give him! I know he can't take them with him to boot camp but I still want to do it! How can I show appreciation to my customers? I am a distributor of items to businesses in a big resort city.? How can I show my appreciation to my better customers? What can I send over to their place of business for the "BUYERS" and the other employee's to share? I was thinking of a Fruit Basket? Any idea's or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! When I say BUYERS, I mean the people who place the orders, ordering from my company. Also, I don't sell Fruit, I was just thinking about getting it from another company and sending it over to them. Should I hand deliver it myself or have it delivered by the other company? Should I place a note? Should I include business cards with the gift??

Fruit would be a good gift - or cookies. The cost isn't important. As a matter of fact, some companies have ethics policies that limit the cost of gifts. A good place to check is the wholesale clubs (Sam's, Costco, BJ's) - they have good business gifts. Remember, the cost of these gifts are probably tax deductible. Having it delivered is OK, but a short visit (if possible) gives you the personal touch. The customers will feel comfortable calling you during the year. And I mean short visit - Don't even sit down - just hand it over & say thank you & leave.. Good luck - you should do really well in business.

How do you use a pasta insert?

I got this pot set as a gift and it has a pasta insert that goes in one of the pots. I just don't know how to use it and what the point is, exactly. Are you supposed to use it like a steamer basket with very little water in the bottom of the pot, or is it just so that you don't have to use a separate strainer to drain the water? a baby gift to my ex for his new baby on the way? should i bother? My daughter is 6 and apparently she's going to have another sibling. I had a baby back in march and his family did send me a baby basket (his mother and sisters) I don't know know for sure how far along his fiance is but she has to be at least around 8 months by now. she's a nice lady and all. i just don't want my ex to take it in the wrong way, I do speak to him every know and then on the phone but not often, we live on opposite sides of the country east coast - west coast and it's far. i see him about 3x a year in person oh and by the way, my ex and i were never married, we only dated opinions?

i recently got married and i have a 5 year old son,with easter being right around the corner im faced with my new families traditions evertone spends easter eve at my inlaws and the buuny comes there that part is fine however i was informed that i needed to but my child a large expensive gift as the other kids there will be recieving bike ps2 wii i didnt know it was xmas again what happened to the traditional basket when i asked about this they told me they have all ways done it this way have i been messing easter up for all these years?
