How can my brothers wedding receive so much more attention?

I know this shouldn't bother me. I even think the fact it bothers me bothers me more then the situation. My little brother got married last Saturday. He and his new wife received so many gifts and cards. Over 2,000 dollars cash, an expenses paid honeymoon to Hawaii, plasma tv and surround sound, more kitchen stuff then I can list, full bedroom and bathroom decor... Everything you can dream of. In 2006 I married my boyfriend of many years, my wedding was smaller but all the same people were invited (from my side of the family and family friends) most of them didn't even show, let alone send gifts. For the most part it went unnoticed. I received some cards, maybe 50 dollars and some cheesy fruit basket. Its not the gifts I really care about, but the attention my brothers wedding received. I have been working very very hard to not seem jaded and I believe no one notices. But the difference is so bad my brother even apologized to me because he noticed. I have considered that people may not have paid as much attention because I was with my husband for 9 years before we married (we started dating at 16) so no one was surprised about our engagement. But my brother and his wife had been together almost as long. So now my head spins over why people didn't care about my marriage. Does my family think less of me and my husband? Have I done something to upset them? My brother is an excellent mechanic, he fixes everyone's cars for free so maybe its that, but I also try to always be there when people need help too (I just can't fix a car). I have never considered myself petty, so please don't think it is the gifts alone I'm jealous about. But how can there be such an obvious difference in support between two siblings?

People are weird aren't they?! My late Grandmother adored all of her Grandchildren, and had a special soft spot for me as I am the eldest. For my wedding she and my Grandfather (who had served as an RAF Officer for nearly 30 years, so they weren't hard up!) gave us an electric carving knife (with which we were delighted). A year later for my cousin's wedding (equally loved by my Grandparents, and we are close) they gave an all expenses paid honeymoon to Italy! Go figure! You sound like a really nice person, perhaps you didn't make a big thing of the wedding, or perhaps people thought 'she's nice, I don't have to break the bank to impress her!'. There is the expression 'the squeaky wheel gets the grease' and certainly my cousin made a great big song and dance about her wedding, probably prompting the bigger gifts. That may well be what happened to you.

I work with a female partner who was promoted two weeks ago and now we don't work together. We got along really good and I bought her an MP3 player as a gift for her getting the promotion. I want to send her an Easter basket for Easter but I'm not sure if she is in a relationship or has a boy friend should I ask her or just send the basket? I'm crazy for this female but we will be nothing mroe then frineds I know that. Please Help Its not a big basket just some items in there that I know she likes.

Easter quilt?

any ideas for an easy easter quilt? I'ld like to make an Easter quilt or stuffed bunny for Easter gifts. I can't seem to find a free pattern, maybe an easter flower basket or an easter table runner or something creative. Thanks in advance.

For a quilt (or table runner, etc.), fabric choice is the most important thing. You could turn just about any block into an Easter quilt simply by using pastel fabrics, or novelty fabrics with rabbits or eggs on them. Try a table runner made from three or four basket blocks - all the same, or different baskets. Browse though the blocks at Quilter's Cache - there are over a thousand free block patterns, with great instructions and illustrations. You could also look for blocks with lilies or paper pieced bunnies and eggs. Eggs would look nice in a pastel batik fabric - like they'd been dyed.

I want to buy a Thomas Kinkade gift set and it says "Add to Basket" and for this one it said "See all Buying Options". Can you still add it to your basket and have it dispatched because otherwise it would have said if it was out of stock. If it just says "See All Buying Options" does that mean it will take a longer delivery service, you can't have it in your seller option or you can buy it? Thanks!

Call a local Salvatian Army or a neighborhood school. Salvatian Army gives toys out to underpriviledged children and you can "adopt" a child by picking an angel off of a tree and buying for a particular child or you can just buy gifts and take them there. A school usually has one or two families that they try to provide Christmas for also. Either choice would be appreciated I am sure. (((Hugs)))

Can somebody make this better?

What i'm trying to ask yahoo world is somebody make this more modern for me. I took a few pieces from a book just to see how would it sound. My story is based in 1990 and Sincere Frazier is a well respected drug kingpin at the age of 27 and claims to earn his money from real estate. I just need it to sound more modern and interesting. Thanks a million. Many friends and many others received engraved invitations to the wedding of Miss Jasmine Frazier, to be celebrated on the last Saturday in July 1990. The older brother of the gorgeous bride, Sincere Frazier, never forgot his roots and old friends though. Sincere himself now lived in a huge mansion in Upstate New York. The reception would be held in that house and the festivities would go on all day. There would not be any 'gangsters' in attendence so there would not be any nagging fear for the 'good' people. A wedding was just what everyone needed to show their joy. In Brooklyn a drug war had claimed the lives of twelve people, seven innoncent, and this was what people needed to calm down. And on that Saturday morning the friends of Sincere Frazier streamed out of New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Down South, and other surrounding areas to do him honor. They all bore cream-colored envelops stuffed with cash as bridal gifts, no checks. A card placed inside each envelope established the identity of the giver and the measure of the person's respect for the Boss. A respect truly earned. Sincere Frazier was a man, despite his tender age of twenty seven, everybody came to for help, and they never were disappointed. He made no empty promises, nor the must used excuse 'I don't got' or 'I don't got nothing to do with that'. Dee was short and thin, but was considered handsome by the ladies, mainly due to the dimple in his left cheek, and his smooth haircut that sported styling waves. But on this particular day Dee was glad to be home. He had just finished serving a term on Rikers Island to await trial for murder. He was scheduled to talk to Sincere later on as so many were. Frisco, born Michael, was Sincere's cousin. He was a child every mother prayed for. Dutiful, loyal, and always at the service of his father. He was tall (almost six feet), and was also handsome but considered careless. At the age of nineteen he was the youngest member in Sincere's organization who was in charge of a large crew. Despite his young age he always brought in the money.

Quite good-but there are a few things I'd change. Though all this is really personal opinion, and these are mostly nitpicks. I don't think it needs to be more modern, just a bit more compelling. One of the main things that is hard to do but is quite worthwhile is withholding some information at first. THis may not sound useful, but not revealing everything that is going on will make readers interested. If you had said first just about the people arriving, and not about why they were all there or why they so admired the Boss, then it would have made the readers wonder why it was so and want to read on to find out. Also listing all the facts straight away does tend to bore more than spreading out the info while the story progresses. If you spill the man's life without anything happening in the story, he won't seem interesting, and there won't be any curiousity about who he is. Mind you, that is my preffered style of writing: withheld and paced, but this is your story. Hope I helped.

We give our nieces and nephews baskets for easter. I figured the kids get enough baskets so I thought I'd get creative. I bought beach towels and want to fold them like basket or bowls and fill them w/gifts. Dollar squirt guns, bubbles, etc. I have tried and tried and can't figure how to fold these towels correctly...help please!

Is this a good idea for my friend?

I am always giving my friends little gifts. My good friend is going on a diet and it is going to be hard but she has to for her health. I was thinking of making her a candy, snack basket full of healthy stuff...like the 100 calorie pack candies and twinkies etc....do you think this is a good idea or is it pretty stupid..thanks for all your answers.

yes, this is a great idea, as long as you make sure that you only giver her things that she can eat. maybe you could trade some of the food for something else, like a card, or a stress ball for her to squeeze when she gets cravings for candy. the basket doesn't have to be all food. hope this helps!

Why not be honest. Tell him that because of recent talk you were slightly disappointed but that doesn't mean you didn't appreciate his gesture. You may also want to mention that it wasn't really a gift that was suited to your particular tastes but you still like that he tried.

Need ideas for graduation gifts?

I have two cousins graduating from High School this month and we're having a joint party so I'd like to get them the same thing but in different colors... or the same basket but fill each one with different things according to their liking.. How about a gift certificate from Amazon.com or other on-line book seller? If your recipients are going to a university or college next year, they can save some money by buying used textbooks online. College textbooks are really expensive. You could also give them a basket either decorated in their high school colors or the colors of the college or university they plan to attend. You could include in that basket items that they could use in college, for example, a coffee mug and different kinds of instant coffee (or their favorite brand of gournet coffee), popcorn and other snacks, pencils with their teams logo on them, . . .

Can I send alcohol between provinces?

I just moved to BC a few days ago, but on my last week in Alberta one of my brothers bought me this big liquor basket as a going away gift. I know the shipping company that was moving my things wasn't insured for transporting alcohol, so I left the basket with my folks. I felt bad because it cost him $200, but I'm not sure if it's legal or not to do it with other shipping methods. Everyone I ask gives me a different answer. golf basket for dad?

for fathers day my brothers and i are thinking about getting some golf stuff to put in a basket for my dad. he doesn't need clothes b/c he just got a bunch. he doesn't need gift cards to play golf b/c we can play free at like 8 golf courses and country clubs. so, i am trying to think of things to get him. any suggestions? he plays atleast 2-3 times a week and most of my family plays. my sisters who don't golf are getting him something else. i just have no idea what certain golf things to get him. thanks!!

They even have ones that you can download the course you play likes this http://www.amazon.com/GPS-Golf-Pro-Pocke… It was a toy I would have never bought for myself, didn't think I would use, but I won one at a golf tourney, and it has really helped my game, and all my friends bought one after me. I don't think you can use them in tournaments, but they are great for casual games and make you better when you do play a tournament. It also came in really handy while playing golf in Ireland since all the distance markers where in metric and it has an option for that. I would love it if my daughter bought me one for Fathers Day, Then again, I would love it if she just bought me some balls and tees. Help me find a toddler ride on toy..?

The one I am looking for is plastic, made for young children maybe 12months+. It is mostly pink and white, designed for girls. It has a basket on the front with a plush baby doll in it. Well for Xmas our family drew names and I drew my step mom. My sister said she would like something from Bath and Body Works. So I went there and got her a basket full of stuff.
