I am 16 and my mom is leaving me with the Christmas shopping for my brother and my nephew. My nephew is five and he is easy but my brother is 16 and very hard to find out what to get. My budget is 25$ for both (so make it 13$ each if I use a few dollars of mine) On top of that we get 250$ (my brother and I, split between my mom and my dad because they're divorced..well soon) What can I get for him? Last Christmas I got him out of my own money a basket ball hoop thing that goes on his door so he can play it in his room....he never set it up nor used it....For valentines day I got him a stonehendge thing and he played it ONCE. What can I send over to their place of business for the "BUYERS" and the other employee's to share? I was thinking of a Fruit Basket? Any idea's or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! When I say BUYERS, I mean the people who place the orders, ordering from my company. Also, I don't sell Fruit, I was just thinking about getting it from another company and sending it over to them. Should I hand deliver it myself or have it delivered by the other company? Should I place a note? Should I include business cards with the gift??

Should American Indians have more of a say about their reservations and the illegals who feel they have their rights on them? Are they not taking the farming jobs away from the original American citizens? Yakama Nation man leads anti-immigrant efforts By MANUEL VALDES TOPPENISH, Wash. -- In the museum gift shop at the Yakama Indian reservation, Wendell Hannigan shows off a small bronze statue of a Native American woman holding a basket full of hops. Asked if there are Yakama farm workers left, the 66-year-old Yakama Nation member laughs and says, "no, no." Behind the laughs, though, is Hannigan's conviction that the large influx of illegal Latino immigrants into this reservation, about 160 miles southeast of Seattle, poses a threat to his people. His beliefs have prompted Hannigan to spearhead efforts for better supervision of undocumented workers - mostly from Mexico - on the reservation, and sponsor a state ballot initiative to impose stricter immigration rules. "It's almost like a whole group of people are overtaking the Yakama Indians, and they're doing it quite effectively," Hannigan said. "Their goal is the same as the Indian people. It's empowerment, but they're doing a more effective job, in my mind." The former tribal council member and his backers echo concerns about illegal immigration that are frequently used by anti-immigration proponents. Among many things, they say jobs are taken by Latinos and that gang violence has spiked because of the influx of immigrants. But their arguments also reflect resentment toward Latinos, who now far outnumber the Yakama, original inhabitants of the land. This wind-swept region of the state is one of the poorest. Gang violence here is common. It's also the home of one of the biggest economic engines for the state, agriculture. Hop fields and fruit orchards dot the land. The area is one of the oldest destinations for Latino immigrants in the state. The first waves came looking for work in the vast agricultural fields here decades ago. Many stayed and established a community. The 1.2 million-acre reservation was formed in 1855, after 14 tribes were banded together in a treaty signed with the United States government. The state estimates that there are about 100,000 Latino residents in Yakima County, which includes the reservation. In contrast, there are about 8,500 Native Americans in the area. Tensions between tribes and illegal immigrants have been more apparent along the U.S.-Mexican border. The Tohono O'odham tribe in Arizona, which sits on a 2.8 million square acre reservation on the border, has repeatedly asked the federal government for help securing its lands. The large reservation has been used for years as a crossing point for illegal immigrants and drug smugglers. In Washington, though, the resistance from Hannigan touches on more than just illegal immigration, and his comments often blur the line between immigrants who are legal and illegal. Like many Native Americans, the Yakama were forced to speak English and lose their language, which is now nearly extinct, while Latinos have "demanded" bilingualism, Hannigan said. Intermarriage is also an issue. "It does away with our blood core. I don't think we have any full blooded Indians on the reservation. It's all mixed," said Mavis Kindness, vice chairman of the tribe's general council and another outspoken anti-immigration proponent. Adding fire to the debate is the history of this reservation. Within the reservation's boundaries there are private plots that house non-tribal members, farms, and whole cities, such as Wapato and Toppenish. It's commonly described as a "checkerboard" reservation. Hannigan sees farm worker housing projects in Wapato and Toppenish as further encroachment on their reservation, but organizers for one of the projects say the tribe has not raised concerns. How many people among the Yakama tribe share Hannigan's feelings is not known, but these cultural rifts are common enough that people inside and outside the community can speak to them. "They think they're the owners of everything here," said Juana Espinoza, a 36-year-old mother from Mexico who lives on private land in the town of Wapato, within the reservation. "They don't want anyone here, whether they'd be the whites, Asians or the Hispanic community." It's an issue of sovereignty, fragmentation and cultural identity, said Tom Colonnese, a professor in the University of Washington's American Indian Studies program. "Their dominant numbers are changing. Their concept of America is going to disappear," said Colonnese, who is part Sioux. "We're especially sensitive, we already went through this with white America, it seems there's going to be a second wave." Suze is right. No Native I know likes them. I believe they are a major factor in the drug and gang problems on the all of Arizona's reservations. I do know, however, that on the Gila River Rez, Pimas are given first priority for jobs (as long as they are qualified, that is,) all other tribes get 2nd priority, followed by a spouse of a Pima, followed by a veteran and then all others. I have never seen a single non-English speaking Mexican (Nakai, in Navajo and Nakaiye, in Apache) working on the Navajo or Apache rez and hope I never will!! They've been a pain the *** since before the whites.

do you see this as a bad child hood?

starting at birth i'm the youngest of 3 and i was also the "mistake" child my siblings are 14 and 10 years older than me my dad smoked and drunk and was 49 when i was born and my mom was 33 3 years old is as far back as i can remember first of all i lived in the same house from birth all the way to 13 and it was a last minute whim because they had to move for more space for me and they had a really nice place and the day before they moved the landlord made my dad give the keys back because he heard around the neighbor hood my dad was a drug dealer but that was his best friend not him so my dad's friend fixed a house up in two weeks the house had no installation in the walls was bug infested had mold all over it one outlet in each room and was very unhealthy and to top if off my dad smoked in the house so the walls where tinted yellow my dad slept on the couch i shared a room with my mom until i was six because we only had 3 small bedrooms and when my sister moved out my mom took her room my brother got the biggest room and i was stuffed in the smallest corner room i remember eating peanut butter and jelly and kool aid for lunch every day until i was about 5 or 6 when i was 7 and 8 my parents where always at work so i had to tag around with my brother who would play basket ball at the park with his friend till like 10 o clock and always told me i was to little to play then when i was 5-7 my mom was in and out of the hospital and my dad raised us in that time and he was an acholac so when we were waking up for school he was just getting home from the bar when i was 7 my dad told my mom that he didn't want us talking to my sister any more becuase her new boyfriend was a recoved fellon and he heard alot of rumors about him (he was really a nice guy) so my mom would take me and we would have to sneek around to see her and my dad had his friends all around the neigbor hood watching and he heard that he moved in with her so he made my mom walk with him one time at like midnight to see if his car was there and another time i went with him and he told me we were going out to get breakfast then my dad later died when i was 9 and my brother was pissed and him and my mom fought almost every day and she kicked him out one night and the cops brung him home and my mom told them he wasn't wlecomed here so he had to go to my sisters for the night then when he was 20 our mom got a boyfriend and when my brother was 21 she kicked him out so her boyfriend could move in and my brother had to go to my aunts and i was moved out the big room to the corner room again but now it was smaller because my brother had his stuff in the closet and i didnt even have a dresser i just had a shelf with my clothes on it and i was always finding bug in my room we also lived in a high crime neigbor hood and i remember we use to put plastic over our windows that where cracked and repared with duck tape even thow i didnt care i never got a gift i wanted or a card or any thing and my parents couldn't even afford coats for us and we never had a matching furniture set or cable and almost every thing in our house was from off the curb and i was offen bored because even though i had older siblings they where gone and why would they want to play with some one so much youger

I'm still waiting to hear the really bad stuff. So far it's more like whining about being poor as opposed to anything else. It happens and thee are kids sleeping in a car or a box at night. Your complaining about eating PB&J's when there are people who don't get to eat lunch. You didn't mention whether you were beat on a daily basis as some others are? You can always look around and find others who have it better or have more then you. You can always find something wrong in your situation if you look hard enough. The key is to do the things you need to do to improve your situation. In your case it would appear to be education and hard work at this point. Good luck

what should i do?

my dads mom died about 3 months ago, and his family skrewed us over. they took everything out of the house. they would all go in seperatly and go through the stuff. too of them brought their kids, and one of the grandkids went through stuff by her self. they put us together this little basket, and all it had in it was two hot glue guns, and half deck of cardss adn a bunch of broken crayons. i told my dad that we were getting skrewed over and he got mad at me and told me that i was tereing his family apart(meaning his brothers and sisters). i inperticular hate one of his sisters because she snuck around and did all this stuff. anyway me and my dad fight about this allthe time because he won't stand up to them and he thinks there these wonder ful people, and i try to bring it up as little as possible, but he got a gift certificat form the realator who sold my grandma's house and there going out to eat, and he said he might be able to take us. he doesn't know. but if he does ask i

Why did the Bishop,Pastor and Congregation disliked me and my family so much?

There are events that happen at this church. First event: My family and I was invited to this church. Later we joined the church. Everybody liked us. The Bishop and the Pastor laid hands on me so much that anyone could feel the present of God around me. I fasted, prayed , read the bible and stay closed to God. I was invited to conferences and events. The Bishop always say to me that God has me covered in front of the congregation. Everything was going fine until the next event. Second, event: The more I fasted and prayed, I began to see things in the church. One night there was a extreme large circle and the Bishop was saying something and everybody were holding hands. I begin to notice black finger polish on the toes and nails of some of the members. My house stayed in chaos. My daughter was constantly being hospitalized. I was being drained. A pastor would mock me. Members began to shun me and my family. The members was being really rude to me and my family. Bishop pointed his finger at me in front of the congregation and told me that I would have been dead but, God has me covered. I told the Bishop and the Pastor that I saw demonic spirits in some of the members. The church became to much and I left. But, God told me to returned which I did not want to. But, I had to follow what God told me to do. Third, event: I returned back to the church. Members were making remarks as why I was still there. The members that I thought were my friends shunned me. Leaders was very mean to me and my family. The Bishop and pastor ignored me and my family. They stopped laying hands on me. They refused to give me the certificates for completion to be a Evangelist. Rumors were spread about me and my family. Members were yelling at my children. If that did not top it off, this will: there were two large cakes, one chocolate and one vanilla. I told the members who was serving the cake that my daughter could not eat chocolate. Guess what cake they put out first. You got it right, chocolate. As I gather my children together, a member stop me and gave me a Christmas gift for my 3 years old daughter. I did not feel comfortable receiving it. I did not want to be rude so I accept it. On Christmas day I help my daughter open the present. And inside the box were dirty coat, dirty pair of shoes and dirty dress. I quickly threw those items in the dumpster. I did not returned to the church anymore. Last, event: I went to another church. To my surprise I saw another church member. Before, that week was out. The Prophetess and Husband did not want me at their church. The Prophetess put me on the spot in front of the congregation. The members of the that church turned against me. She even snapped at me. After she came down from her episode. She told me that she could feel the present of the Lord all over me. She invited me to her conference. I wanted to check it out. I will never do it again. When I got there and sat in back. I saw my ex-pastor and she was preaching. People was sitting by me. The ex-member begin to whisper things in the people ears. They began to move. Then the Prophetess's husband and some of their members came to the back where I was sitting. They saw me and headed back to their sit. My ex-pastor begin to preach and she looked at me while saying "sometime when you greet a person you will want to say I wish you will die. Want you just die! but you can not say that but that's what you want to say." Then all of a sudden, I began to get these migraine headaches. I began to feel real sick. My head began to spin. When I made it to my car. I began to earl and I was not sick. (happen on a Friday night) On Tuesday night, I get a called from a morgue asking me did I wanted to take out some insurance for the near future. There was another time when members came to my house and gave me big basket. I remember a long rope with knots in it and items hanging from it with clothes pins. I saw members eyes turning black. I remembered standing up in church. I was in a daze and my son had to bring me out of it. When I came out of it. I realized that I was the only one standing up in church. Even though, I stayed to myself. I faithfully gave and help out anybody that needed my help. I stayed humble, meek and close to God. I did not fit into clicks and I kept my family close. The Bishop, Pastors, leaders and members tried to separated me and my family. It did not work. Can someone please explain in details what just happen to me and my family. And, why would these people cause so much pain on me and my family? Was this church demonic? Only serious people give answers. Please Also, I remember the Bishop asking the congregation "who is your father?" and the congregation responded "you are" He asked them twice. My son and I did not respond at all. I saw a folder he was holding and it showed 09/09/1999. Note: after leaving the church. My house is back in order.

How can I show appreciation to my customers? I am a distributor of items to businesses in a big resort city.? How can I show my appreciation to my better customers? What can I send over to their place of business for the "BUYERS" and the other employee's to share? I was thinking of a Fruit Basket? Any idea's or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! When I say BUYERS, I mean the people who place the orders, ordering from my company. Also, I don't sell Fruit, I was just thinking about getting it from another company and sending it over to them. Should I hand deliver it myself or have it delivered by the other company? Should I place a note? Should I include business cards with the gift??

Help me out. Please!?

I really want to get my teacher something amazing for Christmas but I don't want to go over and make her think I'm obsessed. I have read many things form people and they say they like it and the others say they don't. People have said a gift card to a book store or restaurant. But how do I know what book store or what restaurant she likes without her being suspicious?? And I wanted to but a basket together. Like lotions and chocolate and note pad. Does that sound good? What else could I put in there?? She has helped me through so much with my emotional times and I just want to show her how much I appreciate it. Thank you for all who are helping me!

i like the gift basket idea. its good. you could just go to like the candy section of a store and get something in there also. then go to the body section. go to target or walmart, they have everything and you could go walk around the makeup section. im sure you will find something

Locking my bedroom door was a habit I had when I did something and didn't want to be interrupted. I turned around and turned off the stereo I had blasting. Walking out of my room was always a surprise. I still never got used to the size of our house. Well, I called it a house, my parents and people around me called it a mansion. With all the long halls, and elegant furniture and décor, I felt out of place. Growing up in a small town had always been a delight for me, but my father made it big and landed a major role on a television show. Before I knew it, I soon found my family and me moving to Fairfield Haven, a gated community for the wealthy. I hated all the mansions and mini-mansions. Fairfield Haven was filled with exclusive stores, expensive homes and most of all, snobby people. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends, but most of their parents could be snobby and far too social. Sadly, my parents were slowly turning into those people, as well as my older sister, Jade and her husband, Ray who live with us. We had more than enough room for 5 families in this house, although we do try to make it at homey and comfortable as we possibly can. It's a good thing my mother never really lost her comfort and motherly touch. She still cooked dinners at which we were all required to attend at dinner. I thank God for that every day, because without a touch of comfort, I would be lost. I slammed by door shut and made my way down the hall, or my hall. Each person had their own hall. Of course my parents shared a hall as well as Jade and Ray. These halls had our own private bathrooms and a lounge designed perfectly by whoever's hall it is. I made my way down the elegant staircase and into the kitchen. I reached for an apple from the fruit bowl my mom always kept on the island. My phone, which was sitting in front of me, was blinking. As I checked, I found 3 messages. All of them from my best friend, Trisha. She had texted me telling me to meet her at the fountain by in the mall by 3:30. I checked the clock on the oven. It was 2:30. With just enough time, I could make it to the mall with just enough time to pick up something small to give to Jade for her birthday this week and meet Trisha in just enough time. I grabbed my car keys from the bowl in the front hall. "Dad? Dad?" I called out as loud as I could. My mom appeared from the basement with a basket of laundry in hands. "What is it, Kylie?" My mom asked. "I need money. I'm meeting Trish at the mall and I need to pick up a few things." I told her. Hopefully Dad left her money today, or else I would have to head out to the studio, which was at least 20 minutes away without traffic. I would barely have enough time to make it back to the mall. "Your dad decided to get you a credit card as an early Christmas gift." My mom said as she dug into her bag to find it. "But it's only September." I protested, taking the credit card from her. "Well, he said that you ask for so much money all the time, that it would be easier for you to always have it. But," There's always a but. "this card is limited. When you reach a total of $4,000, you reached your limit and your dad has to put in some more money, but only a tiny bit each week. Use it wisely." She told me. Although $4,000 dollars seems like much, it doesn't in Fairfield Haven. It would only last me 2 weeks, but then again, nowadays, money seems be rolling in like wind. "Thanks!" I cried out and hugged her. I grabbed my bag and hurried out to my car.

what can we do about the unhealthy heat in our apartment that we pay the landlord for?...?

the heat and water is supposed to be included, but it actualy is $150 a month even in the warmer wheather...we live in michigan...the building has 6 units and it has a steam radiator system with the boiler in the basement...sometimes it is over 90 degrees in our place...it was 18 below zero the other day and we had to open all the windows to our place and it still only brought the temperature in here to 79...sometimes the radiators go completely off...they went off about 15 hours ago and now it is 51 degrees in here with the windows closed right not of course...the landlord does nothing to fix the problem...our daughter has had 2 ear and througt infections this winter and has never had them before...when it is hot in here it gets so bad that it melts the chocolate in our cupboards...i went down to the basement to take a look at the boiler steam system...there was paperwork on the wall...the 2 yr inspection for it is 4 months late, and sheet that showed service calls said the last one was back in 2000!...so they haven't even had any "tune ups" on this boiler for 9 years!...wow!!!...i am not going to mess with the boiler because that is beyond my knowledge and i also don't want to get blamed for "breaking" it...what can i do about this?...can i turn the landlord in?...where would i do it?...how can i get him to fix it?...oh, we do not have a thermostat in our apartment and there are no controlers on the radiators so we are stuck with what comes through...also, we don't have screens on our windows or doors...we are forced to open them when it is 90 degrees in here...we had a squirel that got into our bedroom and destroyed a food basket gift we had wrapped...we asked the landlord if we were forced to open our windows and doors if he could at least put screens on them so that we do not get anymore possible rabid rodents and wild animals coming into our place and destroying our belongings...is there anyway we can get him to put screens on?...any help or advice would be greatly appreciated...thank you!!!...

What is a good Valentine's day present for a guy?

Me and my boyfriend have been dating for over 2 years. I am kinda running out of ideas for gifts. Last year, i made him a coupon book and a collage of pictures of us. I gave him balloons and a flower and a some boxers that i personalized for him and a basket full of candies and snacks he liked. For this year, I want to give him something he wouldn't think of. He has given me a promise ring and I have thought about getting him a promise ring too, but isn't exactly what i want to do. He likes to hunt and he is preppy. Please give me some ideas!!!!!!!!!!!

Just knowing me I would make his Valentine's Gift an all day thing. You can start by cooking him breakfast in the morning, and having him wake up to a gift, like a balloon or card. Then, if he's at work that day, have lunch delivered to his job with flowers. By the time the evening hits, you should have a home cooked meal on the table, candles and music blazing. If possible, have some type of gift basket that combines his interests, like that promise ring, a gift card to some preppy place (lol), maybe something that pertains to hunting. This shows you know and care about what he likes. Of course, if you guys are physically intimate, the night wouldn't be complete without nookie. But don't make it the same old sex. Look up some new positions or techniques and blow his mind.

If I make tonight cupcakes,decorated sugar cookies, brownies for an Easter basket, how should i storage them?

As I said, I'm gonna make tonight or tomorrow decorated cupcakes, cookies and brownies for an Easter gift to give on Sunday. How can I storage all of them already decorated? Refrigerator in plastic containers? Or cookie jar will be enough for the cookies? how about the brownies and cupcakes? I want to have them ready to pack 1 day before.

put the brownies in a warm place with 2 medium sized bowl half full of waterput plastic wrap over the bowl that the brownies are in.the water is for moisture for the cookies depending how much you made if you made a lot then use 2 cookie jars if not 1 for the cupcakes put them in the fridge so they can keep cool and the frosting will turn extra yumy but before giving cupcakes brownies or cookies to whoever warm them up for 22 seconds if thats to cool do 10 seconds more in the Microwave.
