I was in a 7 year relationship this is my first realtionship since my realtionship ended year ago. I had no idea when I picked this girl up but her best friend happens to be the sister of the girl that I had the 7 year realtionship with. I know she knows my past and that could be a reason why she is angry but it seems like there is something else or somone that she is angry at and I just happen to be the bullseye or solution for all her problems so she takes it out on me. Nothing I do is ever good enough for her and she is controllive, she has to have it her way or she screams at me. An example today I didnt rap the gift basket because it was too big so I put it into a gift bag and she lost it on me started screaming and pushing me and saying that this is dis respectful and very ignorant HELP !!!

A gift for my sister?
So my sister is having surgery next week. It's a tough surgery, she has a lot of ovarian cysts that need to be taken out, this is her 2nd surgery and her chances for kids keep getting less and less, BUT we're optimistic her doc is great ect. Anyway I wanted to get her something...I know flowers are nice, but I was thinking more like some movies or some kind of basket...things to keep her busy while she's laid up. Any ideas!? Thank You! :-)
--------------------
May your sister surgery go great next week. I know that God will be with your family that day. Gift ideas for her is just being her sister is the biggest gift you can gave her. Make her a basket of goodies, a DVD, like a love story, a book to read. Help her around the house. Help her make meals head of time and freeze them so all she has to do is put them in the microwave oven to cook. For the first couple of nights offer to spend the night at her house to help her if she need it. She will be very sore after coming home from her surgery . Good Luck and your family will be in our prayers!

Would this be a good gift for her baby?
A good friend of my will be having a baby soon.. I don't want to get her clothes because i know everyone else is going to be giving her clothes. Does any mommies have a unique idea i can do? I was planning on buying a medium size basket like a laundry basket like this: http://s.kmart.com/is/image/Sears/999000
and i was planning to buy wipes and baby things such as nail clippers and thermometer, bottles (she said she will be needing bottles) bottle brush etc. and baby books! Is this a good idea? or i wanted to get her diapers with a personalized blanket with the baby name?
--------------------
i think that is a really cute idea. you can buy the basket and then put the diapers, wipes, nail clippers, thermometer, bottles, and bottle brush in it. thats a really good idea and your friend would be very appreciative of it. suggestions: bibs, binkeys, crib sheets, recieving blankets, wash cloths, a baby towl with a hood, baby lotion, baby soap, or baby sunscreen. hopes this helps!!!:)

Gift for girlfriend's birthday?
I'm a 16 year old guy and have been together with my girlfriend for four months now though we were good friends for a while before we started dating. Her birthday is coming up later this week and I've been stressing out over what to get her for a while now and am kind of lost. I'm willing to spend money but I don't want to do anything too expensive (under $50). Initially I was thinking to give her a charm bracelet but she doesn't really wear jewelery that often so I now am thinking of giving her a picture of the two of us in a neat frame, a small box of chocolates, and writing a letter to her, but that doesn't seem like very much. What else should I give her? Maybe a basket with lots of small things, but what kinds of things should I put in it?
--------------------
16- well clothes, makeup basket, something for her bed, a cute teddy, it doesnt have to be expensive but just memorable, teddy and a bracelet, it doesnt have to be a charm bracelet, thts kind of old fashion, something from claires at the mall, something grlish .gud luck

gift idea for sick newborn?
My friend just had her new bundle of joy come into this world a week ago, unfortunately he's very ill. The doctors cannot figure out what is wrong with him, and he's still in the NICU. I want to send her something, seeing as we are 1000 mile apart but I can't seem to think of anything worthy to send to her. Flowers are out because of it being ICU, and I was going to originally send a baby spa basket, with all these lotions and balms especially made for babies but seeing as they can't use them on him, I am at a loss as to what to get for her. What do you get for a mother with a sick baby? And what do you get for a newborn that isn't even out of the hospital?

I would just get a little guardian angel charm for now, or something along those lines. It's thoughtful, let's them know you are thinking of them and you never know, a guardian angel may be all he needs right now. Can't think of anything else at the moment

Gift ideas for someone leaving for military related reasons?
My on and off boyfriend (for over the past 3 years), more "on" these days is leaving to be stationed in Utah for the air force for two years and can possibly be deployed while there. He is leaving this weekend and we are considering trying to do a long distance relationship type thing, even if we don't end up "in a relationship" I'd like to do something special for him when he leaves. I'm thinking of filling a little basket with stuff or something... anybody have suggestions? I really need help! I don't want it to be "over the top", just something simple to show that I care and will miss him. Thanks for the help guys!

Gift for boyfriend's parents?
My boyfriend and I have known each other since February, been dating since end of June / beg. of July. Come Christmas, we'll have been dating for almost 6 months. I talk to him at least once a day, and see him a few times a week (depending on our work schedules, but we work together). I know his mom semi well, been out to dinner with his dad a few times (his parents are divorced). We both consider this relationship very serious (I'm in my early 20s). I kind of want to get his parents something small for Christmas. His mom has a boyfriend who lives with her so I don't exactly just want to get something specific for her. I was thinking a basket of goodies (chocolates, etc.) for them. Then his dad, I'm honestly not sure. He's very into war movies and the such, and he's the very conservative type. Any ideas or comments on my ideas are much appreciated, as I'm not sure if I should do so or not.
--------------------
a basket off goodies the his mother could share would probably be the best, and ask his dad which movies he does not own but would like to or you could just take a stab in the dark so to speak

What to get for a 13 year old girl's birthday?
I think I'm going to get her a lot of little things, like a little gift basket, but I don't want it to be too expensive. So far, I'm going to get her the movie He's Just Not that Into You, Itunes gift card, some lotion from Bath and Body Works, and a coloring book. What are 1 or 2 cheap (that's already about $35) and creative things that I could get her?

Does anyone have the original Subway stores banning homeschool kids website?
Hey there, is there anyone out there that actually took a snap shot or archived the Subway essay contest website? The one that banned homeschool children from entering. http://www.subwayfreshbuzz.com/kids/cont
This morning, after being online since Janunary, they corrected the words: Untied States, to United States and Gift Bastket to Gift Basket. I did get to save the Bastket misspelling as a gif, but they had already United the Untied States. So if anyone has this page saved please let me know where to find it online. 10 points to the person who finds it first:-)
--------------------
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the contest and then read.... "NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. Contest is open only to legal residents of the Untied (sic) States who are currently over the age of 18 and have children who attend elementary, private or parochial schools that serve grades PreK-6. No home schools will be accepted. " http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/05/subway_bans_homeschooled_kids.html I can not find an actual image of the site that has the spelling mistakes, (UNTIED and BASTKET) but the site above has the direct quote. They have obviously fixed it now. However, with approx. 3 million homeschoolers they have really offended many! I suppose Subway just doesn't want our business.... I guess it really doesn't matter because this essay contest was promoting fitness. And as I search my brain through the 400+ homeschoolers in our local group, not one of them is obese! NOT ONE! Just like with your running shoes; United we stand....Untied we fall!

What do you think of this?
So my friend challenged me to write a super short story using just a letter format and I came up with this. I kinda like it but I'm not too sure. What do ya'll think? ---- Dear you, I love you so much. You just don't know it. I wish you would quit staring at the ground and look up! I'm checking you out? Don't you notice? I'm not even trying to be subtle. I even tried that "toss my hair and bite my lip seductively" thing which is like the oldest trick in the book, but obviously your pre-calculus was more interesting. (By the way, you suck at pretending not to notice
.you were "reading" your book upside down). And, also, by the way, when I said "Happy Birthday. I can give you a really good present," I was not talking about a small monetary donation to a charity of your choice nor was I inferring that I was going to give you a gift basket of fruit and chocolate. You are so dense! Seriously, you think a sixteen year old boy would know when a girl says "gift" and raises her eyebrows suggestively, she's talking about something different. (Hey, did you notice how I sounded all husky like Demi Moore when I asked you? I practiced that sexy voice in the mirror for like a week before your birthday. Not that I'd ever admit it). Oh, and I know you weren't flirting with Ashley before third period the other day. You tried to make it look like that (valiant effort, I commend you) but what I've been trying to figure out is WHY? The only conclusion I could come to was that you were trying to make me jealous, but I'm still not sure why. I also briefly considered the possibility you actually were flirting with her, but I ruled that out because A) you started talking to her just as I walked by and B) she didn't look like she even knew who you were. WHY? I ask. WHY must we try and make each other jealous. Honestly, if I said, "Hey! Take me, I'm yours! Chemistry room, you, me, a Bunsen burner, fifth period!" I would show up. You, of course would skip class. So let's summarize here: you're oblivious, a bad liar with possible paranoia. But I still love you. Let's make it happen! XOXOXO, me.

Question about what guys are supposed to do on Valentine's day?
My mother doesn't like my boyfriend/ex-bf for many reasons- he's 22 and doesn't plan on getting a job/focusing on graduating community college for a few months because he's busy running track and goofing around, and is extremely immature. But after what he did on Valentine's day, she finally expressed that I should dump him. On Christmas and our 6 month anniversary he got me nothing. (I've spent almost $1,000 on him on his birthday/vacations/dinner I've made him etc) And, so when Valentine's day came along I was hoping for a relatively nice gift, seeing as he hasn't gotten me more than a bouquet of flowers during our 8 month relationship. When I told my mom that all the got me was 3 flowers and a teddy bear ( and I had gotten him a gift basket worth more than $40), she flipped out and wanted me to break up with him because she saw it as immature, unthoughtful, and treating me poorly. And although he doesn't have a *steady* job, he makes roughly $200 a month working for his sister and she is always telling him he can work for her if he needs money. Plus his parents are loaded, so he could have always asked them for money so I don't think lack of money is a good excuse. His excuse was "that's what you're supposed to do for girls on v-day, right? flowers. that's what I thought..." What do you think?
--------------------
I think this could be one of two things. One, you make him sound like a jerk who doesn't care about you by how you describe him here- NOT saying that's true. I'm just saying by reading this paragraph that's how it sounds since you don't list anything nice about him. That could be the case. And in that sense, then fine, dumb him becuase he won't change. Second, perhaps you're just putting more into this than he is. You haven't even been dating a year right? A few months might seem like a big deal, but it's really not. You guys don't even fully know each other yet. I've been with my boyfriend for four years and the first year didn't really get each other big things (we were also in HS however), just cd's,movies, stuffed animals ect. It progressed as our relationship did. You're spending an awful lot on him and perhaps he thinks it's too soon. As a last note, really if he's not hurting you, abusing you, cheating on you, doing dangerous/dumb/illegal things, then it's none of your mom's buisness. Its your realtionship and you need to set your own standards. If you expect more out of him on holidays and gifts then fine, but it's not up to her to decide that. Good luck!

Present Help For My 90 Year Old Grandma?
Hello All, In Advance: Sorry this is going to be really long! Alright, so to start tonight we had a party for my grandma who turns 90 on Friday (the 19th). I love my grandma to death. She spends every holiday with us, she lives 10 minutes away so we are always together too. I am very close to my grandma and I want to treat 90 special because who knows how much time I have left with her. The party was tonight and we are doing a little get together on her actual birthday and I want to get her something nice. Here is a little background on my beloved grandma: -She was born in Italy in 1919 and came to this country in 1947. -She loves to crochet (but she insists that she can get her yarn for free through a friend so there goes that) -She loves traditional Italian things (but my cousin gave her an italian specialty food gift basket. grr) -She loves puzzles -She likes to cook but not too much since she is 90 now lol -She is from Isola di Istria -She loves going to the pool (but again gosh darn it by cousin and his wife gave her something for that too) -She loves going to atlantic city (and yes, someone gave her money to go there too) -She takes great pride in her heritage. Ok, so thats my grandma in a nutshell lol. Also we were going to get her a personalized photo album for photos from the party but guess what, someone already gave her that too! So yes, now I am stuck back at square one. My grandma has always been the hardest person to shop for. Christmas I'm always stuck. But I don't want 90 to be small you know, I want to give her something special. I just don't know what! My mom says we only planned up to 85 and now we are out of ideas! If any of you have an idea as to what I can get my grandma that would be really helpful. I've tried to think but I can't! I have to get the gift before Friday so quick responses are wonderful. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry again for the very long message *Also Im 17 and my brother is 15 going on 16 so we don't have too much money. The most expensive thing we were really looking at was like 60-70 dollars and we plan on splitting it.

Any cyclists out there?
I need advice, I'm planning my Christmas gift for my boyfriend, but I need some guidance. He's really big on cycling (both road and mountain) so I figured I'd create a cycling gift basket (kinda). I wanna get him a tour bag http://www.performancebike.com/shop/prof
and fill it with little things that he'll need during his rides. Maybe things he wouldn't really get himself but would be handy or things he runs out of frequently. Is the bag a good idea? and what kind of things would you suggest to fill it with?
--------------------
I agree with Sam, since clothing is really tough to buy for someone else. Here's my stocking stuffer wish list: CO2 canister and cartridges (he can use two if he mountain and road bikes) GU or Shot Blocks--snoop around and see if you can find the kind he likes Gatorade or other drink mix Tubes Chain lube and a plastic chain cleaner thingie (yes, I'm a girl) A new chain (a nice one!) Bag Balm (available at drugstores...kind of a gag, but maybe not) Sun screen Lip stuff Allen wrench cool tool Pedros tire levers--hard to break If he rides during the winter, I suggest a Pearl Izumi skull cap for under his helmet. One size fits all and can be used for skiing and other sports. My huzbin and I both have them and love them! Lightweight shoe covers--neoprene can be too hot, I'd stay away from that. Check with the guys and gals at your local store, too. They'll be able to help.

Ideas for an 11 year old?
For Christmas, I don't know what to get my niece. I want to get her something special, but I have a lot of people to buy for. My budget for her is about $50 (maybe more or less, we'll see). I am only 16 so I make minimum wage, so I have to work with this. My niece is 11. I was thinking of maybe giving her a huge stocking, a gift basket, or a cute purse/bag and fill it with: A good book (She likes Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, stuff like that) A DVD (She likes funny movies, Just My Luck, Uncle Buck, The Notebook, ) A CD (or movie tickets) Jewelry Hat/Scarf/gloves Lotion, hair stuff, makeup, perfume etc. slippers and fuzzy socks (she loves stuff like that) Candy Pajama pants t-shirt or hoodie (from aero, limited too, jcpenney, etc.) So what do you think? Is this a good gift? any other suggestions? What else should I put in it, or what should I eliminate? I know I won't be able to get everything in that budget but I'll find good prices and get whatever I can.

How do i thank the whole company?
*My husband's boss and co-workers know we're expecting our first child* Today, my husband brought home a really big gift basket full of baby items for our new little creation [who should be arriving within the next few days!] It was from the whole plumbing company + the owners wife & family. I've never even met his boss nor his wife, and only know one of my husbands co-workers. This was a very generous gift. Q1: How should i write the thank you card to everyone? [of course i would like him to hand it to his boss/company owner] Q2: I was thinking of sending him to work on Monday with some sort of treat for everyone. What should it be? Any help would be great! Especially on how to word the "thank you" card!

Was i wrong to do this?
On Halloween night, I took my favorite candies and decided to make a little gift basket of candy for a friend who dosen't go trick or treating because her family's church dosen't allow it and I felt bad she never got candy. I spent a lot of time putting little ribbons etc on the basket, careful not to put pumpkins, witches or anything that has to do with halloween itself. When I gave it to her at school, I was surprised to find that she didn't want it. She gave me the whole "Satan's birthday" thing, and I just tried to tell her that it was just candy, and it wasn't meant to have anything to do with the devil, and I politely insisted on her taking it. She did, reluctantly. Now I'm feeling as though I shouldn't have made it for her, but another part of me feels like the candy didn't do anything so why didn't she just take it, without giving me a lecture on how good chrstians don't trick or treat. Was I wrong to insist on her taking the candy?

present for my maths tutour?
My maths and chemistry tutor is a family friend. He's tutored me in maths for 4 years and chem for 1 year, and has been doing it for free. If I'd been paying it would've cost just over $10,000. I've finished school now and want to get him a present, but I can't think of anything. The cost doesn't bother me as long as it's not 'cheap.' Also I'd like it to be something more than a bottle of nice wine or a food/chocolate gift basket. He also gets alot of pens and ties form people, so I will stay clear of them. Anyone have an ideas for a gift? thank you!

She wants me to be her matron of honor?
My husband's brother is getting married in May. The plan is small courthouse wedding, nothing major. I like the two of them okay, but never considered doing anything major for it. (I got married last year and they didn't bring a gift, not even a card and their daughter screamed the entire time I was saying my vows.) Well, I've put the past behind me. Now my husband tells me I need to throw a bridal shower and bachelorette party for the girl because no one else is. I don't know if I want to, but since I work at an adult novelty shop and get discounts, I did make her a fun bachelorette gift basket. This morning, my husband woke me up and told me "Alana wants you to be her Matron of honor." I was really confused. I asked why. He said because her family doesn't like my brother-in-law, so I'm next in line. This really confused me because supposedly they are having a courthouse wedding and she's not even going to have a wedding dress. Why does she need bridesmaids? And she didn't ask me, she asked him to ask me! I've always wanted to be a bridesmaid, but I feel like I'm the last on her list and I'm being used. What would you do?

You can just accept..since the wedding is going to be so simple you wont have to do a lot, and if they ask..just say that you are busy... as for the parties..talk to her family..and see if they can come up with something..maybe she doesn't have a lot of friends and needs someone from his family to be supportive...

I have a recipe for a wonderful sounding hot chocolate mix, but it calls for ground anise, which I can't find?
Unfortunately, I cannot use extract, it is for a gift that I want to put in a canister in a gift basket...

you can roll it with a rolling pin until crushed, or if you don't have a rolling pin use a thick glass or jar. Put the whole seeds on a piece of paper and roll hard. That is how it is done for many Christmas cookie recipes using anise seeds, it breaks the seed coats enough to release the flavor.
