Unisex DIY Christmas Gifts for Adults? (Yankee Swap)?

For the second year, my family and close family friends will be doing a yankee swap on Christmas Eve. Last year I made pepperment bark candy and it was a great hit, but I want to do something different this year. The gift has to be unisex because my whole family plays it. Something simple that's not too time consuming would be great, and I don't have a big budget being a college student. Just looking for some creative ideas (beyond themed gift baskets or something).

--------------------
What do they like to do for fun, play golf, see movies, go out to a certain restaurant, cook? If you know this, the rest is easy. Like for golf, buy some cheap golf tees in their favorite, or the wedding colors. Find a place that monograms and get golf towels. Throw in a gift card for a free round of golf at their fav course, and you've got it. Is it go to the movies? Gift cards, boxes of movie candy, a few bucks cash for popcorn. Cooking? Find some cute recipe cards, a cookbook for their fav food, some spices that fit that theme [Italian? buy oregano; cookies? buy a bag of chocolate chips and some real vanilla] maybe a gift card for a gormet kitchen store, some cute potholders, maybe in the same theme. Movie night at home? gift card to Blockbuster, a selection of snacks, two cute acrylic lap blankets, two mugs and some hot chocolate, find those cellophane cones of cocoa mix with the marshmallows on top. His and hers, hmmm. Matching key rings? Youcould do the alcohol accessory basket, get an adult to buy the gift certificate to the booze store. Theme it for what they like to drink. Wine? buy a wine opener, two wine glasses, some glass id markers, a cute towel with an Italian theme, a couple of cheap candles and sticks, a box of crackers, and some cheese that does not have to be refrigerated[check at the chesse counter, they could help]., even a cheese cutter and board. Even buy an appliance, like a blender, and include some things that need to be blended, like a margarita kit, and a gift card for the booze.Salt, bottle mixer, cute little umbrellas.. .

Netflix? Good or Bad going away gift for the college-bound movie lover?

Hi there! My boyfriend is leaving for college in about a month, and I'd like to get him a really special gift before he leaves. I'm all out of cheesey romantic ideas, so I thought of a Netflix subscription. He's a big movie-buff and the college is out in the middle of nowhere, so he'll probably be in need of some entertainment. Is this a good gift? Guys, would you enjoy this gift? Would he rather just purchase the DVDS to keep? (His house is filled with his and his brothers movies.) Any other suggestions? Thanks! *** For his graduation gift, I made him a college basket. I took a small laundry basket and put his school mascot on it. Then I filled it with a pens, pencils, envelopes, a notebook, mtn. dew, microwave mac n cheese, microwave popcorn, an iTunes gift card, framed pictures of us, a whiteboard and whiteboard pen, and a few other odds and ends. So, things like that have already been purchased.
--------------------
Sorry, female here, but I really think that's a great gift idea. I also like your graduation gift. And yes, like the other person said, it's nice not to worry about the stress of getting the movies back on time. I think he will be very pleased. Great idea! Star for you for being a great girlfriend. - edit - That mailman should have been fired. . .There's no excuse for leaving people's private mail out like that. In mail areas in apt. complex's, they have bigger mailboxes with keys and if you get a package that is too big for your regular mailbox, they SHOULD put it in one of the bigger mailboxes and leave the key in your regular mailbox. If not, they should leave it in the office. No mail should be left in plain view where anyone can take it. I would have reported the mailman in hopes of having him fired.

I think that's a good gift. BUT, does he have an Xbox 360? If he does, Netflix is actually coming exclusively onto the 360, so getting him a subscription to Netflix while he has a 360 wouldn't be very good, because you have all the movies that Netflix offers on the 360. So um... yep, a useful tip for ya :D But if he doesn't have a 360, then yeah, you should get him it. He'd like it.

What company/ restaurant could deliver high quality food/gifts in Montreal, QC?

My goal is to arrange a delivery of a gorgeous gourmet breakfast to a company in Montreal, Quebec. I am located in the united states and it is difficult to search for caters, and other specialty delivery services as a lot of the websites i have come across are in French. As delivering a breakfast might be a bit of a stretch, it would also be a terrific help to get recommendations for top notch gift baskets / fruit assortments and things of that nature. This gift is from one company to another, so the presentation has to be impeccable & impressive. THANK YOU for any light you can shed on this.
--------------------
I would recommend using Innovative Gift Baskets (http://www.innovativegiftbaskets.ca/gift… ) as their products are more appropriate for a business setting, they deliver to Montreal, and as the site is in English it makes for easy browsing and selection. In terms of the breakfast I have been unable to find anything specific however you could try, depending on budget, contacting some of the hotels and restaurants in the city, such as the W (W Montreal 901 Victoria Square · Montreal, PQ H2Z 1R1 · Canada Phone: (514) 395-3100 · Fax: (514) 395-3150 ), the hotel Maritime Plaza (http://www.hotelmaritime.com/en_main.htm… ), or any of the restaurants from http://restomontreal.ca/index.php?lang=e… and arranging for them to prepare and deliver such a breakfast. Depending on your budget this may or may not be an appealing option. Hope I helped.

What are some simple ideas for Christmas gifts?

This year I've decided to make gifts, instead of buying them for my friends (ages 17). I was thinking of possibly baking something if I find the time, what else could I do for Christmas gifts either than baking? Should I do a mini basket? I don't want to spend too much money though.
--------------------
you can make thigns such as... scrap books. photo albums. picture frames. jewlery paint flower pots. (you can decorate all thes thigns in ways to make them relate to the person) I guess it depends on there interests ,

Where can I get a single CD booklet made?

I am putting together a CD for my fiancee to give to her as a part of a gift basket on our wedding day. Sort of a mix tape thing. But, I am also going to record the song I wrote and proposed to her with. I wanted to use our engagement pictures for the front and back covers, and of course add graphics and a track list and stuff. Where can I go to get this done so that it won't look "homemade"?

Best recipe/type of cookie for a gift?

what is the best type of cookie to make as a gift/ what is a really good recipe? I want it to be special, I am a senior graduating and want to give my favorite teachers a basket of cookies and a letter...
--------------------
I think French macaroons are gorgeous and delicious. They also present beautifully. Here is a link to a how-to guide based on Martha Stewart's recipe. http://giverslog.com/?p=1089 Want something a little easier? I think Red Velvet Cookies are absolutely delish! Moist and chocolate-chippy. You can make cream cheese icing for them, but I think they are great without! http://www.tastebook.com/recipes/1550060…

What else should i put in my friends basket (bets answer gets 10 POINTS) ?

oK so i have like 6 friends an di've dicided to make them gift baskets . So far i have naile polish there fav color) an ortament wich they or i will decorate . A faciale mask , bath salt (but i cant find cheap salt ),a friendship braclet mad of there 3 fav colors , a mixed cd wit fav songs (each ) ,and a pic of us and all of us togetehr . So is this enough , would u like it ?and were should i put all this stuff in? Also ,any other ideas i would love, or places to get all this for free or very cheap prices .
--------------------
woahh gorgeous i bet your girls are going to love you for that well, the bracelet could be made by hand im not sure if you live by me, but in white rose there are loads of stalls, and they sometimes give free things!!! maybe instead of a frame with your pictures on them why dont you make a custom keyring? it's easy just get small but moderate pictures of you guys and have it laminated them attach a keyring onto it or better still, why don't you add those scoobies that'll make it look gorgeous and for the bag maybe you could put it in a sequined material bag they are gorgeous and are in fashion if i were you, i would forget anout the bathsalt, because it'll be expensive, and i doubt it'll last long!!! and instead of a facial mask, why not an mini eye shadow set? it's far more cuter and seems to fit in well as a theme of a gift!!!

Pagans/Heathens, are you annoyed at what Eostre and Yule have become?

Since the church hi-jacked our holy days in order to destroy the indigenous cultures of our ancestors, does it bother you to see christians being indignant about our ancient practices still being carried out today? (i.e., colored eggs, gift baskets, giving gifts at yule, the decorated tree..)?
--------------------
"Bemused" would be a far more appropriate word for it than "annoyed." After all . . . it's an open question who changed whom the most during the Conversion Age: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0195104… (James Russell's _The Germanization of Early Medieval Christianity_) But as others have alluded to already, having a bunch of fundythumpers shrieking about "keeping the Christ in Christmas" while hanging tinsel on trees, tacking up garlands, caroling door to door, lighting a Yule log, giving gifts, dressing up as Santa, filling a wassail bowl, roasting a big ham, making New Year's resolutions . . . well, it's all pretty hysterical, actually. In that "dramatic irony" sort of way.

School Fund Raising Ideas?

My Business leadership class is having a fund raising competition. All money goes to Terry Foxx. Our ideas so far include: - Silent auction for teachers - Selling popcorn and cotton candy to students - Selling raffle tickets for gift baskets (sports, girly, coffee, etc) Any ideas to raise money from students and/or teachers greatly appreciated. Think about what would make you part with two bucks! Thanks!
--------------------
I would also go with a car wash or bake sale. You could do a used book sale or garage type sale as well. Does anybody in your class enjoy crafts such as making jewellery? Cause you could sell that too.

gift ideas for a guy...?

this guy I like is 4 years older than me and going to France for a few months. I want to get him a 'going away gift.' I wanna do a basket full of little goodies to make him think of me everyday that also show some interest in France. For example I was thinking like an English to French Dictionary and a journal or something with the eiffel tower. p.s. he's going there for schooling and he's 23 if that helps. Any ideas? Thanks.
--------------------
A dictionary sounds good, but he might have it. Maybe a poster of Eiffel Tower? Check out http://www.viewposters.com He could hang it on his wall and remember his time in France for a long time when he is back home.

Gift for boyfriend's parents that lent us their time share?

My boyfriend and I are leaving in a couple weeks for Mexico, because his parents have a time share and they're letting us stay at the hotel for free. They're given a certain number of points per year, and they were not planning on going this year and knew we were looking into vacations so they lent it to us. What would be an ideal gift for them as a thank you? I've already done the wine/food basket thing for previous holiday gifts. I've heard about a photo album from the trip, but that seems customary only if we were all to go on the vacation together. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Costco card or Amazon card is always nice...just don't bring back another timeshare! Watch those presentations...

What would be good environmental practices for celebrating Easter?

Seems like people could shred colored paper in a paper shredder & make their own grass for Easter baskets instead of buying plastic grass, then recycle the paper. I've done it for packing gifts for wrapping & shipping. (Besides, I think we used the same baskets & grass for 10 yrs when I was a kid.) What else could be done?
--------------------
How about if you do buy plastic Easter eggs, you keep 'em, use them again and again year after year instead of disposing them. They are washable. I like the paper shredding idea.

Good Wine/Champagne that will compliment a basket of sweets?

I am putting together Gift baskets for the holidays and they are going to include Chocolate dipped strawberries (white dark & milk), caramel apples (different topping i.e. nuts & chocolate drizzles), chocolate dipped oreos half white and half milk chocolate, ferrero rocher chocolates, and sees hard candies & toffees. These are for the adult members & couples in my family. Anyone know of a good Wine/Champagne that will pair well with this basket? Thank you! Your help is much appreciated! :]

Depends on how much you want to spend. If your looking for a great inexpensive but great sparkling pinot grigio try Voga, it comes in a really cool bottle too. If your looking for something more on the high end try Mumm, White Star or Piper Heidseik

Need an idea for one Christmas gift to give to four married couples?

In my family, we don't technically give Christmas gifts to adults, just the kids. However, since I'm the only single adult, the other couples typically give me a small gift, probably more as a thank you for me buying gifts for their children rather than a Christmas gift. So each year I like to give the couples something, but I like to keep it small and I like to give the exact same thing to each couple. One year it was a $20 gift card to their favorite restaurant. One year it was a basket with a $10 blockbuster gift card, movie-type candies and popcorn. I haven't come up with any ideas for this year...help!
--------------------
Wal-Mart has some cute gift baskets..they have a ice cream gift-set, a coffee gift-set, a hot sauce gift-set, the have little sets with cookie mix, brownie mix, beer bread mix..etc. Check it out..they are usually in the seasonal isles and all are about $10.
