I am interested in learning to make floral arrangements, candy bouquets, gift baskets.Know of any avail. classes?

I would like to take arts and craft classes(floral arranging, cake decorating, wreaths, gift baskets, candy bouquets, sewing, etc.)Do you know of anyone teaching any of these classes in the warner robins area?
--------------------
Large craft store chains like Michael's, JoAnn's, etc., regularly offer classes in the kinds of products they sell. Start with the Michael's (929-2283) or the Hobby Lobby (478/971-4042) on Watson Road, for more info. Otherwise, look for adult-ed classes at local high schools, community colleges, and park districts. Good luck.

Gift baskets for baby, parents, and brother?

Hello all, my sister-in-law will be having a little girl in the near future and we are making up some fun gift baskets for our new niece, the parents, and our nephew. For the baby, we are doing a bath-themed gift set and including a gift card, any ideas of what to include with this? For the parents we were thinking a set of tea products as they both love tea, any ideas here? And we have no idea for our nephew but something reflective of him being a new brother, anyone know of any good books or anything at all? He is 8 by the way, if that helps.
--------------------
for the new brother i would do a few big brother things but also think about toys since he will be sitting in the hospital room while everyone is going after baby some new toys would give him something to do also a good place to get these gifts is on the web it is called www.uncommongoods.com they have some neat things but focus on things for the brother he may feel left out

I want to start an online business, in the arts & crafts, gift baskets...anything area?

I have skills including just about any sort of crafting you can think of, I also paint as well. Is there a demand, and what is the best way to get started?
--------------------
Custom made gift baskets sounds like your best idea. You'll have to get a business license, a supply of basic items you'll stock for each type of basket you will specialize in. Baskets, filler, shrink wrap, enclosure tags and ribbons, are just some of the other things you will need. You will need to to decide what each basket will contain in each price range.Check other on line sites for gift baskets and see what they contain, and figure out what you can do different...to make yours SPECIAL.

When to asked to be payed for making gift baskets?

Should I asked to be payed before i make an order or wait until delivery?
--------------------
You always get the money up front before you do anything. The florist charges for the flowers before they even make the arrangement. Same with you.

What are some great ideas for making gift baskets to welcome guests to their hotel rooms for our wedding?

We will prolly have little things like snacks and playing cards, map of the area and wedding activities. But what are some other great ideas?
--------------------
OMG!! Such a terrific idea! I went to one of my old student's wedding last year. i got into my hotel room and she had left a lovely box of chocolates with a personalized note on our bed. I felt so unbelievably special that she would have taken any time at all to welcome me. You cannot imagine how much it will mean to your guests. It doesn't have to be anything fabulous. Chocolates, a bottle of wine, a small vase of fresh flowers. Just some thing to let them know how special it is to you that they have arrived. You are so very thoughtful to think of this.

Gift Baskets?

What do you like and dislike about gift baskets you have seen or received? Details would be appreciated.
--------------------
The fact that they're thoughtless and usually 60% raffia grass to boot. Generally, the composition of a gift basket is inexcusably uncreative. Rather than tie a half-dozen related things together, they'll pick one thing and multiply it out -- they make a hot chocolate or marmalade sampler, for example, and include every flavour and variety of the item when really, the most anyone likes of anything is one or two takes on it. The other 23423 marmalades sit around for months until you throw them away. You might get little breads or a coffee mug in those baskets, but that's it. Or you get a basket of bath stuff, when soap scents are such a personal choice and unless it's a luxury brand or a brand you know they use, you're going to get it wrong. So consumables make bad baskets, and are overplayed regardless. And then you're stuck with the basket it all came in -- my mom's cellar has a entire shelving unit to hold the baskets she's gotten over the years. A good baby shower basket, however, might include bottles and bottle liners, a big pile of over-sized receiving blankets, toys, bath stuff like soap and a hooded terry robe (bonus if it has little ears on top), some story books, wipes, and a gift card for more supplies. Package it all in a stylish diaper bag or one of those tubs that changes colour when the water is a good temperature.

Gift Baskets?

What do you like and dislike about gift baskets you have seen or received? Details would be appreciated.
--------------------
I think gift baskets in general are great.I received one for Christmas that was beautifully wrapped in cellophane and was full of all kinds of food.It was perfect, with relatives stopping by all the time I would just put out the basket and let people snack on what they wanted. The down side was that it also had fruit in it which was not very eatable by the time I received the gift and had to be thrown away.I loved that the basket included everyday things like like juice, soda and crackers but also had things I hadn't tried before like dried mango slices. It also contained Kinder Eggs which all my little nephews and cousins really enjoyed. I did a spa basket for my mom once which included bath salts, nail polish, body spray, bubble bath, cute hair ties, lip gloss and body butter. She loved it. I think the key is just to have a large variety within a certain theme.

Where can you buy those gift baskets or novelty baskets?

for the holidays, im getting my friend a bunch of gifts nad i wanna put it in a basket but i have no clue where to buy i checked walmart and stuff already and they dont have it.
--------------------
You go to Walmart - into the 'craft/sewing section', buy some empty baskets, fill them with small items, wrap and put a bow on it. If Walmart doesn't have any - try Michaels or any 'craft store'.

I am about to start selling gift baskets online. They are a specialty gift basket so?

My question is since this is a specialty basket using store bought items am I still allowed trademark the idea? Not to sound too dumb but isn't there a legal way of protecting my idea or can anyone just copy and do the same thing? Thanks
--------------------
Sorry, it's not an original idea. Many places sell baskets of items - store bought and otherwise, so you can't trademark it. The only things you can trademark are original ideas - such as a new type of packing, etc. I.E. something that's not already been done or used. Even then, a trademark is only good if you spend the money to fight for it - i.e. lawsuits.

I am think about making gift baskets for people in my family for Christmas?

Any ideas would be great. I'm doing one for my sister and her husband and they have a 5 year old boy and a newborn girl- I want to make one basket for all of them. One for my parents in law and one for my mother- she just had her birthday and we got her a digital camera
--------------------
Gift baskets can be so fun, you can do assorted flavor teas or coffees, hot chocolates, assorted snack cookies or baked goods, wine, for those with children include age appropriate toys (small ones) or an outfit. Jams, preserves or jellies, muffin or bread mixes. For the person you bought the digital camera for, include a small photo album, some small picture frames a package of batteries etc.

Does anyone know what to put n care gift baskets for troops in Iraq?

Does anyone know what to put n care gift baskets for troops in Iraq? the gfts would go to my cousin. He is in Iraq. I would like if the ideas were said by people who were in Iraq or know someone who wanted something or had it. But anything will help. THanks!!!!!
--------------------
I'd go with Ra men noodles, beef jerky, some type of chips( they might get smashed, but they won't melt) if he can get to the AAFES they have portable dvd players so movies are good... I'd say jolly ranchers but they actually start to melt this time of year (hottest day on record was 142 degrees, probably hotter but thermometer didn't go any higher).Books, mags CD's of whatever is current remember the year there the whole world keeps moving but time stopped for him the minute he left CONUS. Pictures from home, girls, pets, buds,family... If he doesn't already have it a PSP or an Ipod to help kill downtime, most of the guys I was with had a laptop so I could have ripped music from their computers which helps keep you sane, and everybody who had the PSP was playing multiplayer vs type games. Don't try to do all this yourself, it gets waay expensive so maybe you can split this up between family and friends, church groups.... the support base we get is huge so just ask around and always remember whatever he gets that he can't use there is always another guy in the platoon who will always be glad to get something. God Bless and Semper FI!
