Items for company holiday gift baskets - suggestions?

This year, I am in charge of putting together holiday gift baskets for our employees and customers. Each employee must stay within the $75 range and each customer basket must stay in the $150 range. Our company does this every year and we are known for picking only the best foods (gourmet if possible)! In order to stick to the budget, I am having to cut out some of the more expensive items and replace them with still delicious, but less expensive foods. Here is my list of foods thus far. Any food enthusists are welcome for input! (Also, if you see a certain type of food here that you know of a cheaper brand but same quality - let me know! THX!): Lake Champlain 5 star bars Pieces of Vermont maple sugar candy snowmen Virginia Chutney Co. 3 jar gift set Franklin Fountain Wilbur fudge Popalops giant gummi bears Velatis caramels ToffeeHouse toffee bark Harry & David moose munch Harry & David brownies King Arthur Flour hot lava cake kit King Arthur Flour cinnamon streusel muffin mix Michaelene's Gourmet Granola Licorice Intl strawberry kookaburra twists Hickory Farms beef stick New Hope Mills buttermilk pancake mix Pure NY state maple syrup Route 29 Napa snowball truffles Macaroon Shop coconut macaroons
--------------------
Swisscolony.com have a lot of great chocolates, cheeses and meats, fruits and nuts, etc. If you get a catalog you can get items for free or free chocolates, shipping, etc. You could also get some specialty jams and gourmet coffees and creamers to put in the baskets.

I need to order a nice, high dollar, gift basket to be delivered to Mexico.?

Every place I have found that can ship to Mexico has cheap, small dollar items available. I need to send a great holiday gift to a client in Mexico. I love places like Wine Country Gift Baskets or Olive and Cocoa but their international options either don't exist or they are $30 values. Any suggestions of reputable companies with quality products for international shipping?
--------------------
You need to order from a company based in Mexico. If you do no read spanish, you may need help from a Spanish-speaking friend to use the websites and place the order. See sites below.

Gift Baskets for destination wedding... alcohol choices?

I am getting married down south and I am starting to plan my gift baskets... and I am wondering what sort of alcohol to put in it... Do you think Champagne is too formal for a welcoming drink... You can preorder Nectar Impérial / Moët & Chandon or Moet Brut Split with the flight I am taking but I dont know anything about champagne... is this stuff any good? Or should i just stick with wine or rum? Thanks in advance... and any other ideas are greatly appreciated... So far I am thinking sun block, bug spray, 2 wine flutes (or whatever is appropriate for the type of alcohol chosen), a welcome note with hotel information, water, maybe some snacks and water, maybe a float of some kind for the pool, and some flip flop luggage tags...
--------------------
I've never heard of Nectar Imperial but Moet & Chandon is really expensive. If you can afford it, it's a lovely thought but usually it's at least $50 -60 a bottle! How many guests are you inviting? If you can buy a cheaper champagne that would be a lovely thought however it depends on your guests - if they never drink champagne then they probably wouldn't appreciate it. Get something they would like and want to drink.

Other homemade Christmas gift basket ideas?

I'm making homemade Christmas gift baskets this year. And I'm planning on making oreo bon bons, peppermint bark, puppy chow, and (possibly) chocolate covered pretzel sticks. But I'm wanting to also make something that's not sweet. Any ideas of something that is easy to make and not costly that I can add to the baskets? Thanks! =D

Lingerie Gift Baskets?

I have an online lingerie store and I am considering offering custom lingerie and bridal lingerie gift baskets. They would consist of a lingerie item such as a babydoll, teddy or other lingerie, lotion, body wash, bath salts, powder, a candle, rose petals, music and other items. Guys...would this be something that you would buy your wife or girlfriend? Girls...is this something you might buy for a friend that is getting married or as a gift for yourself? I wanted to get some feedback before investing in this venture.... Any suggestions would be welcomed .....Thanks!
--------------------
Wow! Great idea. Women are always looking for more attractive ways to give underwear, and a gift basket with bath salts or soaps would add something special. That kind of thing would be perfect for wedding showers.

Do you buy people gift baskets? Would you do so if you could easily order it online?

Just wondering how many people buy gift baskets anymore? I know there used to be the welcome wagon baskets - don't even know if they do that anymore? I've heard of a company that offers your own website to sell their baskets and to refer others to bus. Just wondering if anyone would actually buy the baskets online delivered straight to recipient, or if would be feasible to find referrals to join in the business? I'm not exactly sure how many people out there buy gift baskets or would enjoy recieving one? Please let me know what you think.
--------------------
They still must be buying them because I received several catalogs filled with them over the holidays. Some were wine oriented baskets, food, spa products, baking products, candies and nuts, even handy man, BBQ products and DIY baskets for men. They must be selling a lot of them to invest in producing and sending out catalogs, maybe some of them would hire commissioned sales help...

Cuilinary themed gift baskets for a fund raiser?

I'm putting together some gift baskets for a fund raiser event and most will have a culinary theme of some sort. I have already obtained the items for a chinese dinner basket (chinese tea set, bamboo place mats, rice bowls, chopsticks,, chinese soup spoons, jasmine tea, cookies from chinatown, a book on the chinese zodiac, sesame oil, soy sauce, rice, five spice powder, a recipe book, dried noodles, etc) and a japanese themed basket with two place settings and supplies to make sushi, a sake set and a book on the art of sushi making) and I'm working on a tuscan themed one. What other ideas can you come up with including the items to go in the baskets? I'm hoping to keep them all quite sophisticated.
--------------------
you could do a cocktail themed one. just no alcohol included..but glasses and sugar for the rims..mixers. that sort of thing. you could do a decadent dessert one. baking pan, recipe book for desserts, some key ingredients, a pot holder, etc. or you could do a mexican theme one that is more upscale. do a nice recipe book with jars of gourmet salsa, chips etc.

gift baskets for Christmas for his family?

I've been with my guy for a fairly decent length of time now. I get on with his family great, they're fantastic. I don't get along so well with my own family, and don't buy presents for anyone but my parents and my children (and my guy of course). So this year I was thinking, since his family have been so good to me, that I should get them a little something. Would it be a good idea to make some personalised gift baskets? His sister is about to have a baby, so I was thinking a pamper/beauty basket for her to make her feel good after the pregnancy. His parents (especially his dad) love wine (not alcoholics, just appreciate good wine), so I was thinking of getting 2 wine glasses personalised with their names and presenting them in a bucket with a nice bottle of wine? His brother loves movies so I was thinking a gift card for our local cinemas, some microwave popcorn, soda cans and a dvd. His young neice is a huge Justin Beiber fan, but I've already bought her his new book. Do you think this would be ok? Or is it too impersonal/cheap? I really want to show them how much I've appreciated them.
--------------------
That sounds really awesome. You plan to give them all things they love.

How can i deliver gift baskets?

I am starting a gift basket business from home and as I am only just starting up I want to be able to deliver gift baskets to local customers, say within 5-7 miles of me. To keep costs down I will be delivering the baskets myself. I have a website, where people will be able to browse through the baskets, and it will als give the prices. But they wont be able to buy the baskets, as i want to introduce this later on. (I'm still new). My question is, how can i deliver the baskets and take payment? What if the recepient is not the buyer? How can i take payments and deliver the baskets? Also, what would I put on the website, that delivery is only local because its a new business? I dont want to sound unprofessional. Any help and ideas would really be appreciated. Thanks
--------------------
Congratulations on your decision to start your business. I can understand your delivery dilemma, as I was uneasy about deliveries when I begin my gift basket business in 1990, but thankfully there are solutions to get your business up and running smoothly. Q: how can i deliver the baskets and take payment? A: A PayPal account, which is free to set up, can collect monies for you on your Web site through "Buy Now" buttons. Many gift basket designers have set up their business in this manner. Q: What if the recepient is not the buyer? A: There's no problem there. When you set up your PayPal account to process orders and take payments, customers will be able to tell you about the recipient (name, address, etc.) through a comments box available when they order each gift basket. Q: How can i take payments and deliver the baskets? A: This is explained in the first answer, plus you've said that you will deliver local gift baskets yourself. Q: Also, what would I put on the website, that delivery is only local because its a new business? A: It's appropriate to alert customers about your local deliveries with the exact terms of delivery until you begin shipping gift baskets with the services of the U.S. Postal Services (if you're located in the U.S.), U.P.S., and Federal Express. I've included some links to help you with other delivery concerns you may have. Ideas for Christmas gift baskets with homemade liqueurs?

So my girlfriend and I made some homemade limoncello awhile back just to make it, and it was pretty darn good. One of friends and I couldn't stop drinking it on my birthday. It tasted like an expensive liquor and you couldn't taste that strong bite from the vodka. It's cheap and easy. We found some recipes to do a Berry Cordial, which is done in a similar fashion, and also a coffee liquor. We want to make some gift basket ideas, where we add chocolates, homemade jams, nuts and other things. Some will have the homemade liquor in small bottles, and packaged with a bottle of wine, or champagne... the others will be packaged in wine bottles, and will be the main component of the gift. SO, what are some ideas to put in these gift baskets? so far we said we can have biscotti and chocolates with the coffee flavored one. Homemade jam (small jars) with the berry one... and maybe an Italian themed gift basket with the limoncello. Please give me ideas of what to put in the baskets. Thanks
--------------------
It really depends what direction your going in and who your giving the gift basket to. If you want to give something to someone who likes to cook do an italian type theme with the pasta, oils, sauces. If you want a romantic type theme go with the chocolates, and rich spreads. For a more general approach do the smoked meats or the cheese/crackers. Here are a few ideas: Wine Gift Basket #1 o Homemade Wine o Different Types of Cheese o Variety of Crackers (homemade?) o Nuts (Almonds, Cashews, etc.) Wine Gift Basket #2 o Homemade Wine o Pasta (Spaghetti) - tie it with twine in bunches o Olive Oil (comes in nice bottles) o Pasta Sauce(s) o Parmesan o Cloth Napkins (to wrap the wine in or possibly the pasta) Wine Gift Basket #3 o Homemade Wine o Pâté (Crag, Lobster, etc.) o Smoked Meats (Salmon, Sausage, etc.) o Crackers o Italian Toast o Spreads Wine Gift Basket #4 o Homemade Wine o Chocolates o Crackers Wine Gift Basket #5 o Homemade Wine o Linen Napkin o Small Wine Chiller/Holder Hope this at least sparks some ideas in your head.

--------------------
Lets say it cost 20 dollars for all the items, plus the cost of the basket, double the total. you have to figure in your labor an hour, your time is worth something. Let's say you should make $12.00 an hour, add this to the doubled total...you have the amount you should sell them for. You can also set everything out on display and let each person decide what they want in the basket, to personalize it, again doubling the price add your labor, you have it. I hope you have fun with it and make a lot of money. P.S. Do some for the girls and some for the boys.

I think that you should add everything you spent for each basket and say you spent $100 altogether and your profit goal is $40 then you have sell it so that its enough to get back what you spent and then $30 or so each basket or the ones that contain alcohol 40 bucks and the ones that don't 20

themed gift baskets for church fundraiser?

My church is holding a fundraiser and the members of the congregation are making themed friendship baskets and the other members are bidding on them. I was wondering if anybody had some good ideas about what themes I could use to make a basket. Last year my MIL won a kid's bath basket with kid's shampoo, soap, bath toys. That sort of thing. Any suggestions? Thanks.
--------------------
Below are some ideas: Music - Find music stationary, blank music composition paper, cd's, tapes, music books. You might even find some tissue paper with music notes on it. If for Christmas you can probably find music ornaments such as violins and trumpets. Bath - Rolled up towels, bath salts, bath oils, bath goodies, such as brushes, sponges, etc. This one's good for someone who needs a little pampering! Angels - Know someone who collects angels? You can find anything from dishtowels to jewelry with angels on it. Notepads and stationary with angels, lapel pins, handcrafted angels, etc. Candles and Scents - This is the kind of gift I'd love receiving myself as I love candles!! Find candles of all shapes, sizes, scents. Put in a few different type candle holders or the candle plates for the large candles. Some dried potpourri and a bottle potpourri gel or liquid. A small potpourri burner might even be nice to add. Gardening - Garden gloves. Seed packets. Small garden tools. Garden books and magazines. bulbs, small plant or bunch of flowers. Decorative plant markers, gardening gloves, wind chimes. Terra cotta pot makes nice gift container. Kitchen - Dishtowels, oven mitt and potholders, wooden spoons, whisks, measuring spoons, measuring cups, egg timer, recipe cards, etc. You can find resources for recipe cards to print here. Homemade Goodies - Homemade goodies such as breads, pound cakes, cookies, trail mixes, etc. Wrap each up individually in cellophane wrap. Use small tins for trail mixes or small loose items. Gifts in Jar Mixes - Two or three gifts in a jar all tied up with ribbons. You could put in a few kitchen things to go along with it such as dishtowels, etc. If you were giving a hot chocolate or spiced tea mix you could put in coffee mugs. Marshmallows for hot chocolate too. Popcorn & Movie - Use several kinds of popcorn or pretzels, movie passes, gift certificate for free babysitting. Put in a few specialty flavors. Put in one or two videos of great movies. If you put in some "chick" movies, make sure to add a box of tissues!!:) A great "basket" is a large popcorn bowl. You could even include a recipe for popcorn balls done up on a nice recipe card. Birdhouses - Know someone who loves birdhouses? Get them taking care of the real birds with a small birdhouse or feeder. A book on bird care. Don't forget the bag of birdseed. You can probably find a few cute "bird" themed stationary items to add for fun. Fishing - Got a fisherman you need a gift for? Gather up all kinds of do dads in the fishing department. Several different lures, hooks, worms, etc. Get one of those small divided plastic containers to add. Just go down the fishing department aisle and you'll get lots of ideas. A nice fishing magazine would be good to add. Sewing - If you have someone who sews a lot find some sewing items. A great "basket" for this is a sewing box. Put in thread, spools, straight pins, fabric tracing paper, etc. Don't forget o put in a gift certificate for their favorite fabric store. Craft - Fill with all types of craft supplies. You could even include a gift certificate to a craft store such as Michaels or Ben Franklin. Candy - Fill with all kinds of yummy candy. Make your own homemade candies or use store bought such as Hershey's bars, Hershey's kisses, jelly beans, licorice. Put in some of those specialty chocolate lollipops in different shapes. You can get those in bear shapes, etc. Fun Basket - Fill with lots of fun! Joke books, puzzle books, Uno card game, jigsaw puzzle. Be sure to put in a fun comedy video. Sprinkle in lots of fun candy such as Jelly Belly's, sour balls, milk duds, etc.! Tea - Buy several different flavored specialty teas. A couple tea cups. Even a small teapot to add in. Make sure you fill up the teacups with some chocolates. Add a few lemons to the basket. Coffee - Buy a couple coffee mugs and fill them with chocolates! Add in some creamer (you can even take it out of that ugly jar and put in a cutesy one and add a ribbon.) Specialty coffees and creamers, mug, coffee bean grinder, gourmet cookies. Some sweetener packets and a bag of sugar cubes. Buy some specialty ground coffees. Add in a few homebaked cookies to finish it off. Book theme: decorative bookmark, book light, snacks. Beach Gift Basket: Graduation, Retirement, summer Birthday Roll-up beach mat, beach towel, sunscreen, sun hat, tote bag, Frisbee, inflatable beach ball. Wine and Cheese:Coasters, wine charms, wine glasses, cheese cutting board - for a rustic look use a wooden crate for gift container and straw for filler. Spa Gift Basket: traditionally given to women but also enjoyed by men Rolled up towels, aromatherapy candles, bath salts, body lotions, shampoos, soaps, inflatable bath pillow, loofah sponge, bath mitt, massage oil Chocolate gift basket: Valentines Day, Easter, Anniversary Truffles, assorted chocolate covered anything, hot chocolate, chocolate stir sticks or spoons, goes nice with gourmet coffee Picnic for Two: Anniversary or any romantic occasion Wicker Basket with lid, tablecloth, and dinnerware for two Sports Lover: The golfer, the fisherman, or football, baseball, basketball, hockey theme. Fishing Theme: fishing creel, snacks, visor Sports Theme: (Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey) Items with team logo such as hats, mugs, trading cards, coasters, beer or sports drink, snacks such as nuts, chips, microwave popcorn Golf Theme: golf balls, tees, sunglasses, visor, insulated drink holder, beer or sports drink, golf towel. Container may be cooler. The Cookie Baker's Basket: Seasonal cookie cutters (e.g. shaped like snowmen or stars for Christmas) Cookie Recipe - handwritten on a recipe card or printed on nice paper, rolled up and tied with a ribbon around it. Choose between a basket, mixing bowl, cookie jar or large tin for the container and stuff with color coordinated kitchen towel. Optional: Add special ingredients needed for recipe such as almond extract, mint chocolate chips, colorful sprinkles, etc. Barbeque theme: Utensils, apron, platter, potholder, cookbook, barbecue sauce The Person who has Everything: - The person who does not want to collect more 'stuff' Consumables such cookies, chocolate, coffee, tea, wine, are ideal items to fill the gift basket with. Movie passes, gift certificate to favorite restaurant or a day at the spa, magazine subscriptions.
