How can i deliver gift baskets?

I am starting a gift basket business from home and as I am only just starting up I want to be able to deliver gift baskets to local customers, say within 5-7 miles of me. To keep costs down I will be delivering the baskets myself. I have a website, where people will be able to browse through the baskets, and it will als give the prices. But they wont be able to buy the baskets, as i want to introduce this later on. (I'm still new). My question is, how can i deliver the baskets and take payment? What if the recepient is not the buyer? How can i take payments and deliver the baskets? Also, what would I put on the website, that delivery is only local because its a new business? I dont want to sound unprofessional. Any help and ideas would really be appreciated. Thanks

Congratulations on your decision to start your business. I can understand your delivery dilemma, as I was uneasy about deliveries when I begin my gift basket business in 1990, but thankfully there are solutions to get your business up and running smoothly. Q: how can i deliver the baskets and take payment? A: A PayPal account, which is free to set up, can collect monies for you on your Web site through "Buy Now" buttons. Many gift basket designers have set up their business in this manner. Q: What if the recepient is not the buyer? A: There's no problem there. When you set up your PayPal account to process orders and take payments, customers will be able to tell you about the recipient (name, address, etc.) through a comments box available when they order each gift basket. Q: How can i take payments and deliver the baskets? A: This is explained in the first answer, plus you've said that you will deliver local gift baskets yourself. Q: Also, what would I put on the website, that delivery is only local because its a new business? A: It's appropriate to alert customers about your local deliveries with the exact terms of delivery until you begin shipping gift baskets with the services of the U.S. Postal Services (if you're located in the U.S.), U.P.S., and Federal Express. I've included some links to help you with other delivery concerns you may have.
