I don't drink so I have no idea. I'm doing up gift baskets for my sons-in-laws for Christmas. They are relaxation g/b's and I want to include a few bottles of beer in each of them. What is a really good beer that you would put into a gift basket? Thanks.

Pauleners Hefe Weizen It is a German strong wheat beer. It is actualy sweet and refreshing. Arguably the best beer in the world. You can find it at your specialty beer stores or better beer and wine stores. Good Luck.

Why is it that Hollywood's liberals see no problem with squandering millions of $$ while people die of hunger?
For each $20,000 "gift basket" they receive at the Oscars they could feed a starving family in Africa for a year. Why do you think they have no problem claiming that they are liberal and support socialism but yet hoard millions of dollars for themselves while the rest of the world suffers?
--------------------
Because celebrities are brainless idiots that only spew what the liberal biased media tells them to. If you want Ben Afflack to admit his farts smell like dog farts, then get someone at CNN to text his cell phone. Sure enough he'll be on good morning America the next day telling the nation his farts smell like dog farts.

I have a budget of $50 per person for this year's company employee holiday gift. Any ideas?
They've already had jackets, pullovers, shirts, briefcases, leather portfolios.... I don't want to give anything typical like a fruit basket

My husbands compnay would give out cards for dinner and a movie at christmas time. We also have gotten fleece blankets and everything else that you mentioned. I think the dinner and movie was our favorite though. You can get gift cards that have multiple restuarants on them.

Why Call It A "Card Party" When There Is No Card Playing Or Gambling?
My daughter's high school recently held a fundraiser event; a "card party". I had gotten some of my husband's friends to come along who are all big gamblers and they looked forward to the night out. However, when we got to the event there was no card playing, no gambling; not even bingo nothing. The event was only for raffles where you pay to enter to win gift baskets. The men got pissed and felt duped and that they didn't come for this. So I ask why call it a "card party" where there is no card playing?

I've never heard of a card party with no cards but next time bring some and some chips and have a little side game there and see if they line that :) King Cobra Poker http://kingcobrapoker.com

Shaving your legs with lotion?
Umm, I fell off a 25ft bridge and broke my right leg in 4 diffrent places including my ankle, and I have a HUGE cast. 'Cause I had to have surgrey and metal screws put in. My moms been helping me with the showering and stuff, and I even bought shorts and bikini underwear so it would be easier to put on. (my cast is fatter then an adults leg... a FAT adults leg...) But, as you can imagine, I spent sometime in the hospital so I didn't exactly get a chance to SHAVE my legs. So, their kinda, hairy. EWW. I know right? I'm going back to school on Monday in a wheel-chair and of course im gonna be wearing shorts and im kinda gonna draw a lot of attention. 'Cause the principle announced it over the speakers and everyday I get messages on myspace, text messages, flowers, balloons, gift baskets, and defaintly a lot of cards. I had 4 classes make me cards. WHOA. One of my friends told me I can shave with lotion, is that true? 'Cause I can't exactly sit in the shower or sit on the edge 'cause thats how I fell off and broke my leg. Except it was on a bridge. I don't want to cut my legs so help me! Has anyone tried it?
--------------------

What would you pay for a romantic afternoon?
I am an event coordinator and currently I'm helping a massage therapist set up a couples workshop. It'll be a day where they're fed fine tea house specials, and taught how to properly massage one another. There will be wine, hors d'oeuvres, tea and italian soda for those who do not drink, desserts, a relaxing loving time to bond, and small gift baskets when they leave. I'm interested to know what you would pay for a day like this?
--------------------
is this in a spa or a massage parlor in a spa I'd say it would be $150-300 at a regular massage parlor I'd say $100-200

I don't want to spend a lot for Christmas but have..... ?
I have my mother, father, brother and my wife has her mother, father, step father, two brothers, sister and then our nieces and nephews and cousins and on and on and on. Were a close family so if you buy for one its buy for all because its only fair. I love the idea of gift baskets but I HATE the idea of cookies and soap and all that boring rudimentary stuff! Ideas????
--------------------
How about a few handmade items for them? Ornaments, crafts, cards, Dolls?! What are you good at making? You don't always have to buy people stuff. Making things for others always puts a smile on their face. :) Cookies and Soap?! Bleh, go for their interests. What do they like? Who do they like? Buy something little for each of them that revolves around only them. They like wolves? Buy them a small wolf? They like space? Buy them a book. They have lots of goodies wherever you go, just keep a good eye out and you'll be sure to succeed. :) good luck!

need help with an upcoming fall festival....?
me and my best friend are starting to plan on vendoring a 7th annual Fall Festival. What should we make and sell? Does it have to be autumn-related? We have a few ideas so far: -reusable multipurpose canvas bags, handpainted. (Main purpose of selling would be to help the environment by use of shopping bags instead of the store's plastic or paper bags. Painted designs would be either of fall [if it's supposed to be fall-related] or environment-related) -i'm very good at making jewelry, and I would make fall-inspired jewelry..(i.e with leaves as pendants, or something...) -various gift 'baskets'. would be a kit for a potted plant (a painted terra cotta pot. a bag of gravel and one of soil, a package of seasonal veggies or some sort of plant, and put it all in the pot. put the dish (bottom of the pot) on top to cover it, and tie it with a ribbon.) tell me what would be good prices to sell each idea at, and any other good ideas that we could use for the festival. btw, the booth charge is $50, and the festival is Nov. 8. applications are due by this friday. http://mae.fascinatingfiberz.com/festiva

Who had more class...President Bush or Clinton?
Take the time to read this to see what a class act "W" was on his departure from the White House, compared to the Clinton-Gore and O'Bummer liberal left teams. Class Act vs. No class January 21, 2009 1. Outgoing President George W. Bush quietly boards his helicopter and leaves for Texas, commenting only: "Today is not about me. Today is a historical day for our nation and people." Eight years ago: 1. Outgoing President Bill Clinton schedules two separate radio addresses to the nation, and organizes a public farewell speech/ rally in downtown Washington D.C. scheduled to directly conflict with incoming President Bush's inauguration ceremony. January 21, 2009 2. President Bush leaves office without issuing a single Presidential pardon, only granting a commutation of sentence to two former border patrol agents convicted of shooting a convicted drug smuggler. He does not grant any type of clemency to Scooter Libby or any other former political aide, ally, or business partner. Eight years ago: 2. President Clinton issues 140 pardons and several commutations of sentence on his final day in office. Included in these are: billionaire financier, convicted tax evader, and leading Democratic campaign contributor Marc Rich; Whitewater scandal figure Susan McDougal; Congressional Post Office Scandal figure and former Democratic Congressman Dan Rostenkowski; convicted bank fraud, sexual assault and child porn perpetrator and former Democratic Congressman Melvin Reynolds; and convicted drug felon Roger Clinton, the President's half-brother. January 21, 2009 3. The Bush daughters leave gift baskets in the White House bedrooms for the Obama daughters, containing flowers, candy, stuffed animals, DVD's and CD's, and heartfelt notes of encouragement and advice for the young girls on how to prepare for their new lives in the White House. Eight years ago: 3. Clinton and Gore staffers rip computer wires and electrical outlets from the White House walls, stuff piles of notebook papers into the White House toilets, systematically remove the letter "W" from every computer key-pad in the entire White House, and damage several thousand dollars worth of furniture in the White House master bedroom. Headlines On This Date 4 Years Ago: "Republicans spending $42 million on inauguration while troops Die in unarmored Humvees" "Bush extravagance exceeds any reason during tough economic times" "Fat cats get their $42 million inauguration party, Ordinary Americans get the shaft" Headlines Today: "Historic Obama Inauguration will cost only $170 million" "Obama Spends $170 million on inauguration; America Needs A Big Party" "Everyman Obama shows America how to celebrate" "Citibank executives contribute $8 million to Obama Inauguration"

Where can I get a free professional website?
I am wanting to have a professional website, I currently have my business on myspace, but I realize that is not a "professional" site...just did it because it is free and I could post some of the pictures of my gift baskets. My question is, where can I get a free website that will actually be good for my business? I have tried 741.com and a couple of others, and they just don't seem to have much to them. If anyone is using or has used a good site, let me know. I am not wanting to cough up the money right now to pay for a website, I just started the business and want to get my name out there first. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
--------------------
Hi, I am not sure what your budget is but making a professional website is child's play nowadays ;). It's better to have a dot com name for your business. Because a single dot com name is easy to remember, people will trust it more than a sub-domain address, you can submit your website url to online directories and many more. All you need are the following: $50 USD per year. Professional dot com name a control panel to install content management systems for you (e.g. WordPress, or Drupal) Free Customer Support. I use http://www.puphost.com/ and so far they have been great.

Questions About Wedding Reception Favors?
My wedding will be in June with a calla lily theme. I have 3 favors. 1. Calla lily shaped candle holders 2. Silver bell with calla lily handle 3. Crystal coasters with a calla lily design (in sets of 2) First question, do I have to pick one or is it ok to use all three? Like, if different people walk away with different favors, so they can sort of decide what they like. They all go with our theme and work well together. So, do you think its of to use them all? Second question, we are expecting 150 people and our on a limited budget. Do you think these favors will be enough? Or do we need to pair them with something else? I've been to weddings where there were small bags with candy as favors and I've been to others where there were practically gift baskets for everyone so I'm not sure.
--------------------
Personally, I would just pick one. My preference would be the crystal coasters with a calla lily design for its practicality. Secondly if you are on a limited budget, don't get too engrossed over reception favours, most of the guest you invited would be there to sharing your joy and happiness and give their blessings, they would not be too bothered with these. It would not be worthwhile to be subsequently burdened with these as a result of tight budget.

Do You Think I Can Get My Teacher Fired?
I want to be sure she will be replaced before I try anything ( Oh, sorry I tried to get you fired, can I still Audition for the musical?) She is supposed to teach theater, but she never teaches us at all, but rather just tells us stories or makes us do her paperwork. -Once, she brought in her dog, and made us sit there and watch her groom it, silently, for an entire class period -Another time she made us watch her make gift baskets for people she was going to meet--under the guise "I'm REALLY helping YOU by meeting people, because later i can call them if you need anything" Another time she made ten of us sort papers for a convention she was going to, while the rest just sat around. -most days she arrives 10 minutes late. -For our exam we had 2 days to perform a monologue and do a character analysis. The first day we didnt get through all of the performers, and the second she spent 20 minutes chatting on the phone. 11 people didnt have a chance to go at all, so for their midterm they got 50's. When parents called her asking why their child got a 50 she answered, "because they had enough time to go, but never did," these are examples of the most severe days but most go with her telling stories about her past teaching experience, or stars shes met. I mean, COME ON! this is a ridiculous waste of time. but she hasnt been fired yet because she coaches out of class a few students, winning the school awards, and recognition. I am planning on recording a few of her classes on my mp3 to have for proof. PLEASE let me know if you think this is as outrageous as i do, and if I stand any chance of getting an actual education in acting.
--------------------
This is completely OUTRAGEOUS!!!! You are trying to get an education in acting, and this is doing nothing to help you. Unless she is using it as lessons for improv skills or something. hahaha yeah right. She is a poor excuse for a "teacher". Okay. First I would see if your fellow students are as fed up with it as you are. If so ask them if they would be willing to sign a letter to the principal reguarding the issue. Write a letter to the principal or director of your school. Make sure you add explainations from above, in a more professional manner of course. Have everyone from the class sign the letter. When you take the letter to the principal, ask a couple of your classmates to drop the letter off with you. Have the principal read it with you present. If you are the only one fed up with this [excellent] teacher, talk to your principal about it. Tell him/her what this teacher's typical routine in the classroom is. Ask him/her to sit in on a class. Ask him/her to come by the classroom and wait with the class so he/she can see that the teacher is late to their own class. That would be amazing if the teacher walked in and there sits the principal. Anyway, when asking the principal to do this, approach him/her as " i know you are a very busy person, but i have some concerns with the teahcer for my acting class." You could also talk to your school counselor mentioning the above topics, and ask the counselor to take it to the school board or principal as an annomyous compliant. that way your counselor will be the only person that knows you said anything, that is if you are afraid of the teacher finding out you were the one who talked. On days your teacher is late, go to the classroom next door or another administrator and tell them your teacher isn't there yet. You could also go to the attendence office and ask them if your teacher has called in sick. Inform them the teacher isnt there yet. Be consistent with this and make sure someone else does it everytime, so they don't suspect that you are just trying to get your teacher in trouble. Most of the time, the attendenence office will make a note of the tardyness of the teacher, when it gets out of hand they will do something about it. If nothing above works, I would talk to the teacher and as her if it was ok to record one of her lessons. make sure you look into the laws and regulations in your state for recording devices. in some states it is illegal to record without the permission of the subject you are recording. if she says yes, go for it. record her "lessons" - then use it against her. But that is only something I would use as a last resort. Talk to the counselor and principal first. Just a tip: your situation will be much more powerfull if you can get a group together that all support the common goal. Also if you urge the parents to also call in, have them talk to the principal or director instead of the teahcer directly. it will be more effective. It will be more effective in getting the attention of the administration. Good luck with your so called "teacher". Hope the school will do something about her! Wedding gift suggestion for neighbors.?
We just moved and our new neighbors invited us to their wedding. I am stumped on their gift, however. I'm not sure if they drink, I was thinking maybe a wine basket but my luck is they are recovering alcoholics. Any suggestions? I want to spend around $50.
--------------------
You never go wrong getting them something on their wedding registry. If you do not know where they are registered, then for people I don't know well I get a gift certificate at a local home store like bed, bath and beyond. Just a comment, you are sweet to have accepted their invitation. How awkward for you. Here you are, wanting to be a good neighbor and fit in and they ask you to their wedding? That is kinda personal, I think weddings should be for close friends and family, not acquaintances. You are being a good sport, you have already accepted and these people may turn out to be your best friends some day in the future after you take the time to get to know them. So go to the wedding and enjoy yourself, and forgive yourself if you do not pick out the "perfect" gift, given the fact that you do not know these people.

Need tips/advice about selling online?
I'm in the process of developing a site that offers advice and resources for young mothers/mothers-to-be. I have an idea about selling baby items (clothes, books, bottles, etc.) and/or baby gift baskets on the site. Do I need to get a business license if I will only be doing occasional selling? And if I sell name brand baby items, is there any chance I could be held liable for legal issues if I don't follow certain steps? Anybody have experience with owning a small online business? I would really appreciate some advice and insight before I delve into the world of ecommerce? Thanks in advance to all serious answers.
--------------------
Do I need to get a business license if I will only be doing occasional selling? Yes, a simple vendors license is what you need. Differs from state to state which one (some states only allow you to sell within the county, unless you get a transient vendors license that allows you to sell in all counties. Again each state is different. You may need other licenses as well depending on what you are selling. Selling without one is illegal, and you always want to be in compliance. You want one anyways, because REAL wholesalers will require it. In fact, if you are not asked to show proof by a potential vendor, then they are NOT a real wholesaler (just a discount merchandiser) and likely ripping you off and you will have very low profit margins, if any. Is there any chance I could be held liable for legal issues if I don't follow certain steps? If you mean by not having a license, then absolutely. If you are talking about other issues like being sued by customers, etc, then yes there is always that possibility. Selling online legally is not hard. I recommend consulting a tax person and I myself run my ecommerce businesses as LLC's because its helps with potential liability protection and even more importantly, it gives you credability with the real distributors. Most real distributors do not like doing business with small or part time online sellers. Having an LLC goes a long way to build that credability. An LLC may be overkill though if you have a low liability business, but then again, there is always some nutjob out there willing to sue... Its cheap to set up, and you'll sleep better. Makes tax time a little harder though. If your serious though about doing it right, check out a good accountant with experience (you do not need a CPA unless you are getting real complicated) Anybody have experience with owning a small online business? I have run and still run several ecommerce websites. I started with less than $500 investment in licenses and have had stores grow pretty big. Some stores only do 400/month, others do 10k plus... Just depends on your ability to market and target a detailed niche. I recommend you check out www.basicsofecommerce,com. It has blogs, tutorials, articles, tools, videos, etc on the site to help you if you are new or wanting to grow your business. Its 100% free site. Practical Ecommerce is another good site www.practicalecommerce.com

I suggest writing a business plan out. Do research on how to write a business plan for a specific business. Things like start up costs and revenue expectations can help in deciding if it will work for you. It also helps with trying to get loans and business grants.

what else should i put in these party favor things?
i every year i throw a party out at my cabin for my friends, its not like a rag er or anything like that theres about 8-9 of us just heading out for a weekend of boating and chillin at the beach and such. theres a mix of boys and girls going. anyways i always make these little party favor things, like last year i made everyone a pair of custom flipflops and cell phone case (everyone happened to somehow have the same cell that year so it was easy to make that happen) i want to do something different this year, like so far ive spent 5 hours makeing bejeweled "pimp" cups for everyone, And i have bubbles. since they are cups i want to fill them with stuff and wrap them up like little mini gift baskets. so what do you guys think i should put in them? theres 4 guys and 4 girls so any ideas you have would be really helpful !! thanks in advance!

If I want to raise money for my nephew's medical bills, do I have to form a non profit organization?
My 16 month old nephew was recently diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and their insurance is refusing to cover $15,000 worth of RSV vaccinations that he needs to have. I want to host a trivia night (rent a hall, or hopefully have one donated) with gift baskets to bid on, a 50/50 raffle, and a cash prize for the winner of the trivia contest (split half and half between my nephew and the winners). The proceeds would go to help pay his medical bills. However, I'm not sure I can do this without legal issues and tax problems. Does anyone know? Thank you so much!

You might easiest find a fraternal org., like an Eagle's, Moose, Elk, AMVETS, VFW or other such club to offer you their facilities for nothing or cheaply. Organize a benefit and do the activities you mentioned. Learn about 'poker runs' for motorcycle fanatics. You'd be amazed how great bikers are when it comes to helping raise money. They pay a fee to get a poker hand by going form location o location, and the winner will often donate some or all of his winnings to the cause. You may look on craigslist for a DJ who might perform for a reduced fee, or for free, like on a Saturday afternoon or a Sunday ( I am a DJ and have done probably 15 of them FREE). It's good publicity for the DJ and they can also raise tips to donate. Any of the fraternal clubs i mentioned can clue you in on pertinent state laws. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to IM or mail me if I can help further.

Looking for cookie recipes guaranteed to be moist and chewy.....?
I've tried several recipes in anticipation of Christmas - double chocolate cookies and an orange slice cookie that sort of resembles a miniature fruit cake. Here's the problem: The cookies are WONDERFUL right out of the oven, but after they cool awhile they just get dry and crumbly. Since I'm making cookies for gift baskets and others for holiday gatherings, I can't just serve them to everyone right out of the oven....am I doing something wrong, or are there cookie recipes that will stay moist and chewy the morning after? :-) (I typically use butter instead of margarine or shortening....could this be a factor?)

Try decreasing the flour in the recipe by 2 tbsp. Sometimes flour can clump up and be "heavy". You can always bake a test cookie and see if they're too gooey. If so add 1 tbsp. flour and bake another. You can accomplish a lot by reducing the flour a little. Still too hard? Add another tbsp of butter and see if that helps. Store them with a cut apple or a piece of soft bread to keep them soft.
