I'm really upset about valentines day , me and my boyfriend, both have school at night at college and cant spend time together, I asked him what about in the day time, but he has work, do you think it's ok to maybe spend V-day on a weekend and do you think I should give him his gift to him on V-day anyway, cause the stuff I put in his gift basket wont last long, need advice , thanks, and what can I do to get my mind off of not spending V-day with him?

I think giving him the gift tomorrow and making a date for the weekend is a good compromise. --That Cheeky Lad

Christmas Shopping: Please can you help me?
I am trying to get a jump-start on buying my christmas gifts for everyone, but I'm having issues on what to get people. I don't have a tight budget, but I cannot spend over like $300 for everyone's combined. I'll describe as much what each one likes...Here's a list of the people I need to buy for. My Mom and Dad: I wanted to get a joint gift, like maybe a gift basket. I was going to get them a gift certificate for the movie theater and a restaurant for like a date night, but I also wanted to include a couple of small things in there with them. My dad is an avid motorcycle and football fan. My mom is into candles, orderliness, a lot of tv shows, but doesnt necessarily have anything that she's REALLY into. Both of them aren't too fond of technology. They are pretty tech-illiterate. Maybe help me find a couple extra little things to put in their basket? My sister: She's really into photography and her friends. She runs cross-country and is pretty sportsy...She likes partying with booze a little too much (shes 22). But shes not really that into movies or televsion or any kind of games. My Boyfriend/Fiance(22): He is really into video games, especially guitar hero and rockband, but those are way too expensive for me to buy right now. Loves Metallica, playing guitar, and the whole motorcycle/biker thing. He's a die-hard football fan, and enjoys movies a lot. He also LOVES sweets and McDonald's. lol. My best-friend/roommate(19):She is very into her video and computer games, such as SPORE and WOW. She also LOVES movies, the only thing I dont really know is what movies she doesnt have because she has soooooo many. She also has 4 cats, and loves them to death. She has mentioned wanting a new queen size bed set, but i cannot be buying a really expensive one, and Im not sure of where to buy one that stays in my budget. Her boyfriend/my other roommate(30): From what I can tell, he really likes his alcohol. He is also a Cowboys fan, but unlike my boyfriend, does care about other things. He isn't so much into the games, but he does like his movies. Him and my bff are always saying how they never have time for going anywhere or doing anything because they have no car and do everything they need to do while staying in this small town. My nephew(2 1/2): He's your typical little boy. He likes his toys, but he seems to have EVERYTHING! He has a lot of clothes and shoes, too. He likes Elmo, the backyardigans, finding nemo, etc. But I just do not know what new, cool things are out there for little toddlers right now. My sister and bro-in-law: They are just moving into a new house... I am think of maybe getting them something for their new home ( kind of like a housewarming gift but im not sure what to get). Or I could also just get them a gift basket. But I dont know what to include in it except...They love movies. But they aren't too fond of games or any sport in particular. My bro-in-law is really into salt water fish and even has a 50 gallon aquarium.... My grandmother(67): She is your typical gram. I do not know what she would like to have at all. She doesnt really watch movieslone since she is a...She has a dog, and she only plays pogo. I dont ever know what to get her! My fiance's family: I was thinking a gift basket for all of them, combined. But I do not know what I would include in it. Ideas??? If its too long, I definitely understand. Maybe try to help me on ONE person, if not all??? Thanks. =)

am I being rude? Sister in law is pregnant with her third child?
For her first baby my husband and I got her a bunch of stuff in a gift basket, it cost a lot of money. For the second child we did a similar thing. The problem is, she's pregnant again, her last baby is only 5 months old, and she's having another girl (both her children are also girls). Because this is her third child, also a girl, so close to the second one, and my husband and I have a very small income, we have bought her only a couple of small tokens-a birthday bear, gift frame and brush set-they only cost about $20. My mother in law told me that it was incredibly rude of me to do this, and that her daughter will be so upset that we are so tight fisted as to no buy her child anything decent (those were her exact words!). I was furious and told her she was rude and selfish for expecting people to keep buying a ton of baby things that aren't necessary if she keeps having so many children. I know that was rude of me, but do you think I should apologise to MIL given her comments?
--------------------
NO!!! dont apologize for anything. Your mother in law is as ruse as ever. who does she think she is? better she go and buy all those things herself since she is so happy that her daughter is popping kids left to right. It is NOT your responsibility to be buying her baby things. she is the one spending time not doing anything but having kids. You are making your whole in-law family think that you and your husband are the RICHEST and SHOULD be spending everything you can. Excuse me! they have no right whatsoever. and you are doing good atleast getting her something. and next time you yell at your mother in law, let her know she should be talking to herself in the mirror about talking to her daughter. and your mother in law should go and buy EVERYTHING since she is so concerened. Dont be sorry honey. it was HER nonsense fault!

I would fill a basket full of bath stuff, lotions, bath bubbles, scented candles, his/her towels... U can even try to add some rose petals to it. Possibly a bottle of sparkling grape juice, of course for the non-alc's. U can basically go to bath and body or Bath Works, u will find many different things that u can fill a good size basket with... Hope this helped, good luck.. :)

what cand I make?
I have lke not alot of many for x-mas so. What are some things I can make? And not gifts baskets.
--------------------
- Gift coupons..put them all together in a booklet that you've made. For example, if you were giving them to your parents, you could put coupons like "one free lawn mowing" or "one free room cleaning (with no complaining)". Use your imagination! - Personalized stationary/notepad that you make on your computer. - Baked Goods - Scrapbook or a Collage - A letter telling the person what they mean to you. Hearing how much someone thinks of you is sometimes better than a gift!

Is this a good present for my friend?
Well, she's a huge High School Musical fan, so I am going to play "Breaking Free" on the piano and videotape it and send it over to her house, with bloopers at the end. :P I was also going to videotape all her friends at her old school (she moved) and send that along as well. I HAD a "going away" present for her in September, but I never got the chance to give it to her. I was thinking of giving it to her now, but I was afraid it would be offensive or rude. The gift basket includes these chocolates from my Dad's trip to China, a gift card, and a "newest" Kelly Clarkson CD. Hence I emphasized "newest" because it isn't really new and it's kind of a, "Oh, you planned this ever since SEPTEMBER just so you won't have to worry about it now." sort of thing. I thought it may have been offensive in that sort of manner... So, opinions? She's 13. Thanks!
--------------------
Nah that's a good idea. u should tape all her old friends at her old school. i think she would appreciate it. and i dont think it will be offensive plus if she's ur friend she wouldnt even think like that at all. You should remember tah your doing something good for her and she needs to appreciate it.

Is this a dumb idea?
My best friend (a guy) is getting married and I'm invited to his fiance's shower next week. Neither has lived outside their parents' homes before. I was thinking about doing a gift basket. I want to buy a laundry basket and inside put things like bags of sugar, flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda, cornmeal, chocolate chips, tin foil, plastic wrap, wax paper, etc. All the basics they'll need for setting up their kitchen. I know when I first moved out, all that stuff was an added expense that I hadn't really considered. Is this a bad idea? If you don't like it, is there anything else you would suggest? The place where they registered doesn't have a store in my area and I can't purchase online. So, I need to think up something different. Thanks!
--------------------
That is a really awesome idea. It may not be appreciated much at the time you give it, but the first time they're making something and really need that sugar, or have to store something and haven't yet bought tin foil, they'll be very grateful that they have it on hand and don't have to run out for it! Very creative. If I were the bride, I'd love it.

I'm in love with my Ex, what should I do?
her birthday was yesterday and I sent her godiva gift basket and roses and we haven't been together for two months. I would have felt bad not sending her something because I do love her. Anyhow, I know from friends of hers she's still single. We have been on again off again for three years and mainly because of her breaking up. She sent me an email saying thank you for the gifts and she started telling me about her neighbors in this email. I responded and she hasn't responded. A mutual friend of mine said she's been online today emailing everyone. Why is she ignoring my last email? What should I do? One of my friends said she just likes to use me and doesn't care about me.
--------------------
She is using you. And it's your own fault. She has been breaking up with you for 3 years and you keep crawling back to her. You are her backup guy she can hang out with until some better guy comes along. It is OVER. Get your self respect back. You must have some good qualities that a nicer girl would find attractive. Time for you to go on the hunt and show the girls what a catch you are.

one year anniversary present, what should i get for my boyfriend?
okay our anniversary is in 18 days. i want to do something really sweet for him, but i can't think of anything. i've already wrote him like three poems, made him a t-shirt, done a gift basket of his favorite things, wrote 180 reasons of things i love about him, and made him cupcakes. i was going to go to wal mart and buy him a blanket and put a picture of us on it, but that's kind of expensive. i'm low on money right and don't have a job so what are some really cute anniversary presents that aren't to expensive? he's 16 and is into football, skiing, guitar, blink 182, Beatles, xbox, and construction stuff. he says he's planning the whole day so i can't take him somewhere as a gift because he's already doing that for me.

Holy Cow! I think you've done more than enough for a 16 year-old male, hun. It's way more than most partners! Just enjoy a day out because at the end of the day having each other is a huge gift as it is!

I need original ideas for a Nascar-themed baby shower?
Congratulations to me! This is my first babby shower and I want everything to go just right. My theme is Nascar (Jeff Gordon of course!). Anyone have any good decorating ideas? My whole house is already full of his posters and neon signs from his sponsors so I won't have to do much more, but I thought some rebel flags would be cute. I'll need to bring in some extra cash to pay for my generosity- should I have a Chinese auction, a raffle, or a 50/50 drawing? Or all three? I have a brand new George Foreman grill (free with Sam's Club credit card lol) to raffle off, and a set of Jeff Gordon snow globes. Also a set of Taz & Mrs Taz Looney Toons salt & pepper shakers that I never opened 'cause they're collectibles. Should I raffle these items individually or in a gift basket? And for the menu...I was thinking Doritos and french onion dip, and corndogs? What do they normally serve at showers- finger foods or a home-cooked meal? What kind of beer should I get? Many of my friends are overweight so probably a light beer for them, and some celery sticks to munch on. What are some good drinking games for a shower? Last of all...some of my friends are really struggling, and I know they can't afford to buy me anything from my registry. I invited them anyway, and if they win the raffle, should I make them give me back the prize? Since they're not bringing me a baby gift? Oh and invitations...did you make or buy yours? Any cute ideas for hand-made invites? Thanks everyone!

(In the spirit of the post) First off, you should definately get a keg.....I'd go with Bud Light. Make sure the mommy-to-be get a good keg stand in (everyone holds her upside down while she takes a good minutes-worth off the spout!) You could make a nice table decoration out of your old Marlboro boxes.....a crib or stroller would be nice. You could make the wheels on the stroller out of cans of Skol. Red light bulbs are a must if you are having an evening affair. Menu: Corndogs and Doritoes are great Spiked punch....tequilla is preferable Swiss Cake Rolls for desert....you could maybe unwrap a lot of them and make a bigger cake. Cotton candy and popcorn are also a great appetizer Invitations: Instead of sending out boring/traditional paper invitiations. The mommy and daddy-to be should go out for a round of mailbox baseball.......then, the next day, shoot all the victims a "Punk'd" style email letting them know that they are invited and if they don't bring a good gift you'll be stink bombing their houses! As far as paying for all this generosity. I'd skip all the ides you had and just suggest that you hit the local Walmart and "five finger discount" some nice items you could then put on Ebay. That way no one has to know you are short on cash (that could be embarssing, you know!) Have fun and Celebrate baby!

40th Birthday present...?
A female family member (not immediate family) is having a huge 40th birthday bash this weekend. It is a somewhat formal affair - cocktail attire. I am at a complete loss in terms of what to get for a gift? Money is always nice, but zero thought. I thought a gift basket might be nice filled with a prepaid Visa, Bath&Body works stuff, etc....Any ideas?

I always like to look at what happened the year the Birthday Boy or Girl was born and see if I can come up with something from that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970 For example, you could give her an itunes gift card and recommend the most popular songs from 1970 or suggest Supremes songs since they played their last concert that year. You could buy her a copy of Apollo 13 (same year as the expedition). Or you could see who was born during that year and base your gift on that. I find that giving a gift this way shows that you put some thought into the gift even if you don't necessarily know what the person will like or not. Just make sure to explain why you're giving the gift you're giving. Otherwise, Jimi Hendrix songs or Cash Cab trivia games will just seem odd. Hope this helps! Sara Owner, VendorBar.com

My sister is having a baby are Johnsons baby products any good?
Just found out yesterday that my sister is 12 weeks pregnant, she didn't tell anybody until after she made it to the 8 week mark since she has had 3 miscarriages. We are going to throw her a baby shower and since I am her only sibling I wanted to do a nice gift basket of diapers, baby shampoo/lotion/oil, and diaper cream. I have heard alot about Johnson's in the news about being recalled in China for having bad ingredients or something like that, what would you recommend for baby shampoo/lotion, diapers (huggies or pampers), and diaper cream. I am making it a nice homemade gift pack to start her out, I just have no experience with these types of products and when I ask her which ones she would like she is like "I dunno" I guess because it is her first baby. :) So any suggestions from experience would be greatly appreciated.
--------------------
I use J & J on my daughter since birth. it is the #1 recommended product from doctors and hospitals everywhere. It is the safest and gentlest on babys new skin. plus if the baby has perfume allergy, like my sister, you will want something that will be good for the baby. My mom has used it on all of her kids as well as my grandma used it on all of hers. i plan to use it on the rest of my children and my sister is using it on hers. As for diapers... Hospitals give out pampers newborn as they are perfume and dye free. Huggies are great as they have the little cut out for belly buttons But when she starts buying in bulk and if she wantsmore diapers for her money, i suggest Luvs. They are great!!! cheaper than the other 2 but work just as well if not better. Wipes... I use the huggies wipes, they are thicker and you use less in one changing. pampers sensitive are good too for the newborn, just in case of sensitive skin. Diaper Cream... Diaper cream, butt cream, butt paste. different names for one common goal, to treat and or prevent diaper rash. i swear by Balmex! i use it everyday. i like that it is creamy and goes on smooth and works very well. but there is also Desitin that works well too as my mom used that on my brother and my niece. some people will use a/d ointment. this all depends on your preference. As for making her a homemade gift basket, i think that is lovely! I loved the gift baskets at my shower as well as the diaper cake which came in real handy. I would suggest using a laundry basket to put everything into because those are always handy for doing the massive amounts of laundry that she will be doing. Speaking of laundry, they always recommend that you wash the babies clothes in the baby soap Dreft. But a bottle of Tide Free and Clear or All Free and Clear works the same and you can do your own laundry with it too. It is the same basic stuff if not better (the baby soap is this icky yellow color and smells funny where the tide or all are clear and dont have much of a smell at all.) Good Luck being an aunt and good luck with your shower

You are really just going to give your home address out to perfect strangers??? Use your brain a bit for lords sake!! You know some of the best gifts are the ones that cost little to nothing. You just have to be creative.

Any ideas???
We are sending my parents to Hawaii and for Christmas I wanted to make a sort of gift basket of things for them to take with them for their trip. I have a few things in mind like sunblock, a pair of flip flops, a beach towel, and dramamine....any one else have any ideas on what I can put in it? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

When my fiance and I went to Hawaii my Aunt went online and purchased tickets to a couple really neat events that were going on. It was an awesome gift! It might be fun to throw something like that in the basket. I would also suggest a cheap bag that they can bring to the beach...as unfortunate as it is, people easily pick up other people's bags on the beach, I made sure to bring one that was cute...but wouldn't hurt my feelings too much if lost/taken. I hope they have a great time!

Gerber sizing?
I have never purchsed Gerber clothing... I just received a gift basket that is full of PJ's and onesies for 3-6 months, and I am not sure what the length for that is... anyone know? If not, I will just check a package next time I am shopping - I was just curious. Thanks!
