My boss helped me to get a promotion. What would be a good thank you gift?

If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have gotten into this new position which is a great step up in my career. I won't be working with her anymore, so it would be like a Thank You / Parting gift. We're on a "buddy" level, so I don't think a gift would be seen as "unprofessional". What kind of gift do you think would be appropriate? Some kind of gift basket maybe?
--------------------
You can give her just a Thank you card and put some graceful words for her support.

What is a good idea for an Auction Gift Basket?

The School Auction is coming up. What are some good ideas for a silent auction basket?
--------------------
A-Night-Out-in-[City] is always good. You could put in some free dinner tickets, maybe free movie or museum passes? Or you could do an Indulgence Day with a free haircut, manicure, that kind of thing. A coffee basket is always good. Get your local coffee shop to donate a few pounds of coffee. Throw in a few cute mugs, some chocolate-covered coffee beans, sample coffee packs, that kind of thing. Hint: If you have a Java Dave's in your area, they'll do it for you. Have your sponsor write up a letter stating specifically when the auction is, what it's for, where the money will go, and when you need items by. Go take these to local business and chat with the manager about your cause - you'd be surprised how often they're willing to donate even a little something for your basket.

If your office is taking contributions for a gift basket/flowers- how much should you give?

Don't know the guy very well but his wife miscarried a 7-month-term baby and the people who work with him directly are collecting donations.

As much as you feel is appropriate

I have a new gift basket business in Glen Elk,Clarksburg WV.What can I do to get the phone to ring?c?

I have sent flyers, newsletters, called people, , give a lot of donation, adds in phone book, verison newsletter,J. C's newsletter. yahoo serch local, diferent churches newsletter, hand ou card, . Iam getting scared because I am running out of money. Help!!
--------------------
I think you should think abouy diverifying a little. It is a rare business that suceeds without several different revenue streams. Consider gift wrapping, packing and shipping, a drop-shipping service...anything...even opening up early with a pot of coffee and a flashing sign. You have a product that people only need occasionally and can do without if the economy is bad...

What is a great holiday food gift basket for a family of 4 - mom, dad and 2 kids?

I was looking into something kind of sweet or salty. I checked out the popcorn factory, and fanny mae. I don't want to send flowers or a fruit basket. What I think would be best for them would be some kind of mixed treat basket. (like cookies, candy and popcorn...things like that) What do you suggest for a great basket, that is worth my money? I am hoping to spend $60 - and under. Not too cheap, but I'm not made of money either.

Our local Walmarts have whole row of holiday gift style baskets. Or Swiss Colony has a nice selections of holiday gift baskets are varying prices. Look for one that is postage paid. I have used them before and my friends have enjoyed them. They are catalog or web only ordering. http://www.swisscolony.com/home.jsp or Hickory Farms is also nice. Ordering can be done on website or at store. The website shows gifts under 50.00. It also can show you locations near you. http://www.hickoryfarms.com/ or Cherry Moon Farms have some really neat ideas as well. http://www.cherrymoomfarms.com/ Or you could use these sites to get an idea and then make one of your one. I really liked the one at Cherry Moon Farms called Movie Night. It had pop corn, assorted movie theater style candy in a popcorn bowl. It would be easy to create on your own copy of it using candy and pop corn they like. You could add anything you wanted to it. Also if you where you live there is a store were you can paint your own pottery. You could go there and pick a bowl. Paint it to say Popcorn on the outside. It would be a great personal touch. I must warn you that at our local store the pottery and paint charges can make it expensive. Happy Holiday.

Anybody got some good Wisconsin gift ideas?

I'm a student in Wisconsin but I'm from Oregon. I'm going home for the holidays, and I'm looking for a few "Wisconsin gift basket" ideas. My step dad loves gourmet beers, I already planned on some hard cheese, some summer sausages, and maybe some cranberry jam. I need some good "true Wisconsin" gift ideas to take back to Oregon. I want to show them what it is like in another part of the country. Thanks for the ideas, everyone!
--------------------
Well, cheese is a big one. There are lots of local brews that are really tasty (pretty much anything that comes out of New Glarus is awesome like spotted cow). Real maple syrup is yummy. Cranberry stuff is good too (cranberry wine, sauce, crasins). Saussages are tasty too. And who could forget about cheeseheads? Hope this helps.

Where can I purchase dry soup mixes for my gift basket?

I wanted to put something unique in it. Not the usual chocolates and coffee.
--------------------
A lot of grocery stores sell them, as well as many variety type stores. I believe even Walgreens has them....you just kinda have to look around. A few other great things I've found to put in gift baskets other than the basic, everyday coffee and chocolates is: Unique Teas Gormet Popcorns Small jars of jellies or jams Dried fruits (like prunes or cranberries) Bath scrubbies Effervenscent bath balls (these are wonderful, soothing and you can buy them at Wal-Mart in the girlie bath aisle) Trial sizes of spendy lotions - you can get small ones from your upper scale stores Various candles (www.cartooncandles.com is a really cute site with many unique ideas. www.eternallites.com is all soy candles. www.beelitecandles.com has beeswax and soy candles as well as unique flavored honeys) Beanpod soy candle beads - These are amazing! You can mix and match to create almost ANY favorite scent.....(like chocolate and peppermint or lemon and green tea) site addy: http://www.candlefactoryproducts.com/bea… good luck with making your gift basket or baskets!

It'll make her feel appreciated and loved :] Hope all goes well !

I'm making a gift basket for a friend and need fish related items?

Friend was in accident and home now..gonna make gift basket and he likes to fish what kind of fish items would be good...already thought of goldfish and gummy worms, fishing mags can you think of anything else?
--------------------
If he's somewhat under the weather still and needs lots of time in bed or resting, he might enjoy tying his own flies. I've never done it but if you go to one of the sporting goods stores (Gander Mountain, Cabella's, etc) and ask them what supplies are needed, I'm sure they would be helpful. I think it's mostly just an assortment of small hooks and some string and feathers. I would also search online for the directions for tying flies and print him out a copy to include in the basket, just in case he doesn't know how already.
