Gift ideas for my mom?

On Mother's Day, I made this big slideshow with pictures of our family and a little biography on her, and she said it was the best gift anyone has ever given her. I'm trying to top it on her birthday. I decided to make her a basket with 52 things in it (she's turning 52). She's very family oriented, she's very religious, she has a good sense of humor, and she loves hand-made things. I need some ideas on what to give her. I barely have any money, so I would need to make practically everything. Please help
--------------------
You can get one of those collage picture frames, the ones that are big with many openings. Some have different sized openings and some are the same sized openings. You can get them in Kohls, Walmart, Michael's, etc. Anyway, you can get one of those frames and put pictures of her and you, and her family in it, through the years, but leave 2 of the openings blank, one to write Happy Birthday and the date, and the other to take a family picture together on the day of her birthday so she has an updated picture, a most recent one, and one the picture is printed out, you can add it to the frame. She can hang it on the wall and it's like a scrapbook for the wall. She will love it. It can hold pictures of her and her family throughout the years, pick her favorite pictures, or the pictures you think she would like the best. The frames are inexpensive too! You can also make her a scrapbook. These days you can make them in just about any size, 12x12, 8 and half by 11, 8x8, 6x6 and even 4x4, you can put a picture on one side and the journaling and embellishments on the other for the smaller albums and the smaller albums only take a few hours to do. The smaller albums, like the 4x4, she can even carry with her! You can even get those small ones that hold wallet sized photos and if she has grandchildren, make her a grandchildren's album with the picture on one side and the embellishement on the other. You can also make her a picture frame, if you go to the crafts store they have the frames that you decorate. You can get one of those, decorate it with paint, stickers, glitter, etc, and put a picture in there of you and her together. They also have picture frames for scrapbook layouts. They are 12x12 frames, they are wood, so you can even decorate the frame, and what you do is make the 12x12 scrapbook layout and then frame it in the frame and hang it up! You can get them at Michael's and AC Moore, where they have the regular frames and right in the middle of the glass of the frame it will say scrapbook frame. Then you can go to the scrapbook dept. and get the paper and supplies, make a layout and put it in the frame and decorate the frame or leave it the way it is, and give it to her that way. Michael's and AC Moore, and possibly JoAnn's also sell a line called Bare Elements and they are boxes, like jewelry boxes, albums, etc they are white and you can decorate them and make them for gifts. I hope some of these ideas help and that your mother has a very Happy Birthday!

Gift for my friend who just had a baby?

My friend just had her first baby. She lives in Tx and her husband is in the military. He just left for 6 months overseas. She is coming here (FL) next week and staying with her mom for 3 weeks. I want to get her and her little girl a present. Ive already sent a cookie congrats basket to her house, but I want to give them something for Christmas when I see them. I have 3 boys, so Im a little out of touch with what to get for a baby girl. She has plenty of clothes and blankets. Also, whats a great gift to get a new mom? I loved it when people brought me cooked meals, but shes staying with her mom, so thats not an issue. Any ideas for both of them? thanks :)
--------------------
Get her a baby sling-- especially since dad won't be there to help with the carrying of the baby while he's overseas. Your friend will have the freedom of being able to hold and sooth baby AND the ability to still use her hands to clean house or whatever she needs to get done! I like the "slings"- just a personal preference. They do make "wraps" that do the same thing, but they are just made differently. Check out these sites to see what I'm talking about. I really wish someone would have bought one of these for me with my second! I'm using it now with my third and it's a life saver!!! www.peanutshell.com www.hotslings.com Hope that helps!

Need advice for Christmas Baskets!?

so i want to make all my friends and stuff christmas baskets for ... christmas LOL, i want to include a good book, some chocolate ofcourse candy canes, ....what else could i put in it, like small gifts and stuff? .. for my parents i want to make each VERY special because they've done so much for me! i want to show my appreciation, give them something they would REALLY like, .. my mom is into crosswords & she likes books, my dad likes movies, & interesting books, .. im thinking about getting them those'' legacy books'' like father tell me your story, mother tell me your story so that when i have kids they can kind of get to know my parents also. it would mean a lot to me. but i also want to add something else too any ideas?
--------------------
UPDATE; As I am trying to get my things in order I remembered one thing that almost everyone loves and is cheap... candles ck out this site http://www.candlesjustonline.com/index.c… thx for the heads up with the book, looks perfect. Wondering where you are getting the baskets from. I was gonna just do gift bags but baskets always look nicer. jen I am going through the same thing. Here are some ideas and thoughts; not sure about a book, but maybe a GC so they can get what they want and do not have, I suggest amazon, just ck rating of vendor something homemade like sugar cinniman toasted nuts (allrecipies.com) or cookies, fruit bread or a nice trail mix you put together with things like dried fruit, chex mix, granola, chocolate chips, and nuts chocolate covered or plain nuts little mini bottles of bailys or such homemade eggnog creams and oils trial size, you don't have to buy the expensive stuff just good stuff, my favorite is gold bond hand lotion and nutrigena seseame seed oil, bath beads, you can even make bath salts by buying sea salt and adding oil and then fragrence oil a small framed photo of the two of you at a special occation Mom- I would start with some of the mags you can pick up, I think the NYT puts out their own version. Not sure what type of books your mom likes, but there is a book club I think for the 100 most important books ever written. Or just sign her up for a book club. My favorite author is Hemingway...LOVE "A movable feast"!!!! but there are also books of his shorter stories. Again hit Amazon. I would try to do the photo thing again, her favorite wine or liquer, and maybe something she keeps with her allot like a keychain inscribed or a charm bracelet. You could wrap a bow on her basket with a scarf. Oh and of course the usual, perfume, lotion and bath stuff and GC for a massage or nail treatment. Dad... he is always the hardest. Love the Legacy book idea for both he and your mom... PLEASE TELL US WHERE U FIND THESE, I did a search and nada. A book or dvd of movie trivia might be fun. Favorite foods like jams, olives, etc, aftershave, a GC for an old time professional shave and cut/shoeshine if they have a place like that there. I hope this helps, I know it's weighing on me as we are doing xmas over tday so I have to get on the ball. If you would please post on your ? where I can find those books I would really appreciate it.

For a birthday gift, you and some friends take a hot air balloon ride.?

For a birthday gift, you and some friends take a hot air balloon ride. One friend is late, so the balloon floats a couple of feet off the ground as you wait. Before this person arrives the combined weight of the basket and people is 1190 kg, and the balloon is neutrally buoyant. When the late arrival climbs up into the basket, the balloon begins to accelerate downward at 0.47 m/s2. What was the mass of the last person to climb aboard? kg This is for 10 bonus points adding to my last test and I am having trouble getting started. Any advice?
--------------------
Prior to Friends arrival: Sum of forces = force of ballon lift + force of weight of passengers and basket = 0 Afterward Sum of forces = force of ballon lift + force of weight of passengers and basket + force of friend = m_all*a 0 + force of friend = m_all*a force of friend = m_friend * gravity = m_all*a m_all = 1190 + m_friend gravity = -9.81 m/s^2 a = -0.47 m /s^2 -9.81*m_friend = -0.47*(1190 + m_friend) 9.81*m_friend - 0.47 * m_friend = 559.3 m_friend = 559.3/9.34 = 59.9 kg

Help with a christmas gift.?

My in-laws are very hard to buy for at Christmas time. They are doing a major reno to their home this coming summer and plan to live out of a holiday trailer for a few months. My husband had a good idea to give them a basket filled with useful items for the "homeless" So far we have purchased a grilling/BBQ cookbook. We need some other neat gift ideas to include. They don't have to be funny etc, just useful if you have been in this situation. I thought we would also get them a gift card to their favorite restaurant as well as include a couple fake gift cards to come have supper here with us. Any ideas would be appreciated!
--------------------
That's cute! My in-laws also renovated their kitchen and did the same thing for several months! Okay, a microwave cookbook/microwave cookware...pizza delivery gift cards! Hand sanitizer...

Birthday Gift for a Unique Friend?

I need help with a birthday gift. My friend's unique. She's turning 16 and a I don't know what to get her…She's a really unique and special friend, but I'm confused about what to get her. She's the type of person who loves ALL religions, loves peace, and wants to quietly change the world for the better. I'm thinking of getting a basket type thing and hand-making a fancy card with a movie about peace or something and a framed photo and have some other stuff. Good idea? Or not? Any other items I can add in? Any other bday gift ideas? Thanks in advance.

Would you give this as a gift or be happy to receive it?

I am trying to market my all-natural foods as great christmas gifts. They are natural containing no additives, preservatives, MSG or food dyes. There are gift sets but also individual products you can put together to make your own basket. They are things like... European Dipping Oils Breads like Apple. Pumpkin and Beer Bread Culinary Spice Blends Dips, Soups and Salsas Dressings, Marinades and Sauces Infused Grapessed Cooking Oils Sweets like flavored Jams, Chocolate Sauces, Cakes and Muffins Accessories like Fondue Pots and Dipping Dishes Is this something you would either like to give or receive for Christmas? I am marketing but not receiving much response. Maybe it's too early for Christmas shopping? What do you think??
--------------------
I think it totally depends on who receives it. A homemaker type or people who love to cook or gourmet types will really appreciate them. And since it's all-natural, health-conscious people will like them, too. But for others.....? I would love to receive apple, pumpkin breads or cakes and muffins, but other stuff will be sitting in a cabinet forever. So if the recipients are not like me or other 'sports, electronics, etc.' people, your products sure will make great gifts.

Wine suggestions?

My husband and I are wanting to make a thank you gift basket for his old boss. He and his wife are very into wine, so I was thinking I would put a bottle or two in there. The only problem is when it comes to wine we don't know a hole in the ground from our.... Well lets just say we just don't know much about wine... Any suggestions on a good wine or two for this gift basket?
--------------------
You'll want to mix it up, give one red and one white if you're giving two bottles. A white wine compliments mild tastes like desserts, and red wine compliments hearty meals like chicken or fish. In terms of white wine, you can get pretty much any you please so long as the price range is above the $30 mark. As for red wine, choose between cabernet(sp) and merlot. I would recommend the merlot because it goes very well with dark meat delicacies such as steak.

What am I obligated to do?

The woman that I used to babysit for about 13 years ago called to let me know that her mother-in-law passed away. The kids I used to babysit are pretty much grown up now and I haven't seen them in ages. I still am in occasional contact with their mother (the one that called). I don't know the proper etiquette for handling this situation. Ideally, I'd like to just send a gift basket to their house but they are expensive and we are on a tight budget. The fact that she called made me feel obligated for something. Is sending JUST a condolence card too tacky? I am unable to attend the wake so I cannot just ignore the situation. PLEASE ADVISE!
--------------------
You may feel obligated to do more, but if you go and pick a nice card and send it that is all you need to do. Staying in touch is nice, and it says a lot for you that they still think of you even in times like this. You must have been a very good sitter, and be considered a friend. Write a note in the card don't just sign it, and they will appreciate it just as much. Oh yes a proper note is written in plain paper cut to fit the size of the card. This is so the family may remove it for the senders privacy.

I need a creative way to ask a girl to the prom, any ideas?

What is a really cool and creative way to ask a girl to prom? We are not a couple so it does not have to be romantic. Also... Girls, if a guy got you like a gift basket of m&m's that had the words "will you go to prom with me?" on them, would you think that was cool/like it?
--------------------
I personally love poems because it makes me feel special, unique, and loved. But the m&m basket is cute and sweet.

Send a thank you card?

Today I received a gift basket as a thank you from my cousin's wife, for throwing her a baby shower. Now I need to know - am I supposed to send her a thank you card for that? Or would that be a little redundant?
--------------------
You definitely need to say thank you in some form to let her know that you received the gift and that it is appreciated and was not expected. A call or email should suffice, but a short note card would also be appropriate.

I want to give my sons kindergarten teacher a valentines day gifts but not sure what to give?

my sons teacher is really awesome, my son and I both the she is great and I thought it would be nice to give her a gift basket. I asked her if she needed anything for the classroom and besides kleenex for little noses she said their was really nothing she needed as she has gotten a lot of grants for school supplies this year. If I got her things like really nice scented soaps and maybe some candles is that too personal. I just figured everyone likes candles. What is a good gift to show appreciation for a great teacher???
--------------------
Give her a book regarding her profession or anything interesting, stationery/stationery holder, a show/decoration piece, a box of sweets/chocolates.

Anyone good with poems/ cute sayings for gifts?

I'm putting together a gift basket for my friend and was wondering if anyone could help me thing of cute reasons/ sayings/ a poem for each item. Here are the items 1. Hamper for clothes with wheels 2. Microwave Act II Popcorn 3. 2 plates (blue/ green) 4. Glade Plug In Scented Oil (Hawaiian Breeze) 5. 2 glasses (1 blue, 1 green) 6. Disinfecting Wipes 7. 1 wash cloth 8. 1 hand towel 9. 1 bath towel 10. hangers The hamper needs to be first, but everything else can be in random order. I dont necessarily need a poem, but like a cute saying for each would work. An example: for my graduation I got a pack of rubberbands with a saying "to help you STRETCH youself beyond the limits." I'm just really bad with words, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

Does anyone have any ideas?

This Christmas i'd like to give candy and cookies, presented in a professional way ( like a basket or something like that) as gifts. I just need ideas. I'm a real visual person so if you know of any sites that could give my ideas through pictures, please give me the link. I also need recipes.
--------------------
Well, go to some of the gift basket sites and see what they offer and how to arrange a basket effectively. You will soon be inspired by your friends' own interests as to how to put one together.

Anyone like to fish a lot? Please help with gift idea!?

I want to make a friend a gift basket for Christmas and I thought I would make a fishing gift basket since they love to fish (river fishing). What would be some good things to put in the basket? I don't want to put stuff in there they probably won't use, so I want to get some good universal fishing stuff (or even anything related to fishing!) Thanks in advance for any help!
--------------------
You can't go wrong with tools like pliers ect.. but honestly if you don't know much about fishing I would get a gift card to a sporting store such as a bass pro or cabela's that way he/she could get exactly what they want or need for their tackle box. I know it's a little impersonal but if you write a note on the card explaning what your intentions are it should be fine

So I'm putting together a gift basket full of both rainbow and cherry things. Any Ideas? :]?

Yep. Preferably not costing a ton of money. :O

What's a good Christmas gift to a whole family?

I'm thinking of a basket type of gift. I thought of a "movie" themed gift (ie: Large blanket, gift card to blockbuster, some movie snacks and popcorn). What are some other themes that I could make a basket gift out of? This would be for a slightly younger couple (mid to late 20's and a baby).
--------------------
make a compilation of all of your favorite Christmas songs, that is what I do every year for my friends, family, and co-workers. they love it, some disregard it but most are anxious every year to get my latest CD compilation of Christmas tunes. I have been doing it the last four years and am not about to stop now!
