He's a single father and we *just* started talking. What would be an appropriate Father's Day gift?

We met this past week (Wednesday). We live in the same apartment complex. He's a single father to a teen and a preschooler. I'm 32, he's 36. What would be an appropriate Father's Day gift? I was thinking of something generic like a gift basket of male shower gel and other grooming products. He mentioned that he likes to dress up and I figured he could use this before getting into his suit on Sunday morning. Plus, I already have the stuff (long story). I'd just need to buy a container at the dollar store. Would this come off as too personal? If so, what do you suggest? Thanks

you met him last week and you're getting him a father's day gift? that's kinda weird

Would this be a business that could work?

going door to door selling coffee packs! like gift baskets for starbucks! it would be for about 70 bucks but you would have atleast a months worth of starbucks coffee?

You are the only one that can figure that out. You need to write a business plan. Go to sba.gov , www.score.org or www.bplans.com for instructions on how to write a business plan and sample business plans.

How to make a new Mommy welcome home gift basket?

My best friend is going to have a baby in two weeks, and I want to make her a new Mommy basket for when she gets home! I want to include things like, paper plates, napkins, disposable cups, and disposable silverware (just for convienence, and less work with dishes) And Large pads, box of tissues, chapstick, note book, and zip lock bags, I will be putting everything in a small laundry basket. But I want to include more things! Any help would be appreciated! I am trying to get her some things to make her life easier for a week or so since she will be so busy with the baby and busy catching up on her rest.
--------------------
This is a very nice idea! Here is some things that you might consider: -Snacks she likes or even a gift card/certificate to favorite lunch spot. -Soft music cd -Breast/nipple cream if she is breastfeeding(Lansinoh Lanolin for Breastfeeding Mothers) -Boppy pillow or even better(though a tad more expensive) is Brest friend pillow, really great! -Body lotion/body wash -Receiving blanket -Gift card for maid service -The Happiest Baby on the Block(book) -Scrap book or something like that for her to make memories of her first days as a mom.

Valentines day gift basket for my husband to be. What should I put in it?

Something sweet. Money saving, and sentimental
--------------------
Chocolate never goes wrong, but when you say sentimental you need to realize that in order for it to truly be sentimental, and not just coincidental, we would need to know either him or you. I'm sorry about that.

Songs to put on a mixed CD as a gift for friends?

My Christmas gift to my coworkers (women) is a gift basket with candles and lotions for a relaxing bath type thing. (BUDGET!) I want to also make a mixed CD with relaxing instrumental type music to go along with it. What are some specific songs that might make up a good relaxation soundtrack?
--------------------
It really depends on the musical taste of your friends - about which I have no idea (nor can anyone else!).

Baby Dust wedding Gift???

here is my dilemma! my best friend is getting married in september and her and her new husband want to start trying for baby no.1 straight away, she expressed to me that she wanted something for baby as a wedding present... so my question is... Basically, i want to put together a gift basket of goodies for her and her new hubby to give them good luck with trying to conceive, i'm looking for someting really special, not just ovulation tests and baby clothes etc. can anyone help?
--------------------
I would recommend giving them some important things like -preseed -pregnancy tests (i recommend first response early response so they dont have to wait so long to test) -print out a card with fertilityfriend.com and include a basal thremometer so they can know when they are ovulating do something cute to add to the basket liek a few small diapers and non gender specific clothes, as well as a small bottle of glitter with a custom "baby dust" sticker. this will add originality to your basket! Good Luck, hope I was able to help!

What would compliment this gift well?

I'm visiting my boyfriend who spends the summers with family in Colorado, and am going to be staying with his parents. It's the first time I'll meet them and I'll be staying in their house for a week, so I thought it would be appropriate to bring a gift. I'm making my own little "gift basket" thing. They are a traditional, old Asian couple pretty much. I'm getting them some nice tea and a candle. I feel like one more gift would make for a good set..but what? Something sort of generic that anyone could appreciate. I know they like tea and candles. But yeah, any advice or input = awesome! :D Thanks.
--------------------
chocolate, or their favorite sweets. Or tea crackers/cookies. OR a box of matches with a fancy picture on the front to use with the candle. Or what about incense? It will have a whole relaxation/smell good theme. Good luck. That is really nice f you to bring a gift!

My boyfriend will be traveling for the entire summer. What gift could I send along with him?

I've already thought of some ideas-- I just need more. I was thinking about maybe putting a basket together of useful things. I just need specifics. Thank you!

hostess gift?

My boyfriends parents invited us to stay with them next weekend in a vacation home they rented in the countryside. I want to show my appreciation by bringing a gift. I'm not sure about wine and food, as I dont want it to seem that whatever we get them, they need to open while we're there. Food isnt out of the question, but do you think thats tacky? I would like them to enjoy the gifts when they want, and not feel obligated to share with everyone. I was thinking of taking them out to dinner one night, but there are two other couples besides us and that could get expensive. In the past, Ive gotten them things for their kitchen, as they both love to cook, but am not sure if giving similar things would be redundant. Maybe a gift basket filled with moderately priced things. Nothing too crazy.
--------------------
My recommendation is two fold. Given that this is a rented cottage then anything given to them, will require them to bring it back home. Why don't you put together a basket of food and drink items for the whole household to use during the visit. Special treats, small size condiments, etc. so everyone will enjoy a little something extra. After you get home, then send your boyfriend's parents a small thank you gift for including you in their vacation plans. My recommendation is a photograph of all you together taken on the vacation in a lovely frame. This is a thoughtful gift that will mean all the more as it will preserve the memory as well as acknowledge their kindness.

Mother's Day gift for a very picky mother?

We are trying to decide what to get my husband's mother for Mother's Day. She is hard to buy for because she doesn't like much of anything. She doesn't like flowers or houseplants. She doesn't like any kind of collectibles, decorations, knick-knacks, or anything along those lines. Whenever she gets a gift like that, she gives it to someone else. She is very picky about what she eats, so it's hard to find a gift basket that she would enjoy. No fat, no sugar, no candy, etc. The last couple of years, we've just given her a gift card, but we don't want to do that again. However, we had thought about getting her a gift certificate to a spa or massage therapist, but my husband said he knows she would never go because she wouldn't be comfortable in such a setting. The only thing she enjoys, that we know of, is her church. She is Catholic and in her late sixties. My husband says he is giving up trying to find a gift for her, but I'm trying to be creative. So, I'm just looking for some ideas for the woman who likes and wants nothing in particular!

Gift for new dad and grandparents?

I'm due in around 6 weeks, and I know that a "push present" is traditionally for the mother, but I'd like to get my husband, and all four grandparents a gift. It needs to be something I can buy or make ahead of time since I'd like to give them the gifts at the hospital. I thought about making a gift basket for each set of grandparents and then one for my husband, but I'm blank on what to put in them. They don't by any means have to be identical, but I'd like to spend $50 to $75 on each. Thanks for all your help!
--------------------
Frankly, I think those would be very non-traditional gifts that simply are not necessary. You should save that money for your baby as it will need lots of things, or you will need lots of things for you to take care of the baby and you're talking about spending between $250 and $375 for unnecessary gifts. Think what that could buy your baby.

Get well soon gift?

A woman I work with has been sick and a little down for a few days and me and a few other people at work want to send her a gift. What would you like if something was being sent to you - Flowers or a gift basket with candy and tea and stuff like that?

Flowers are always a safe bet.

What's an appropriate gift for a child's occupational therapist and?

what should I get for his motor therapist who sees him once/month? My 2 1/2 year old has been seeing his OT for about a year and a half now. She has been nothing but helpful, even helping out with a problem with the school system for my older child. My youngest is about to phase out of the system, in large part due to her work with him he's fully caught up in the areas he was delayed in. I'd like to get her a gift (or maybe gift basket?) to say thank you. And would she like something like a picture of my son as well added in? He also sees a motor therapist once/month, though he's only seen her a handful of times I assume if I get a gift for his OT I need one for his MT as well. Would a simple gift card be appropriate for his MT if I get his OT a gift basket of some sort?
--------------------
i would look for something she could use with the next kids, like a game puzzle or something.it might saveher from restocking her goods and it wont go to waste. sure a pic would b great... x-mas cards might be nice once in a while just to show her you wont ferget

Ok girls AND guys i need help on fathers day gift i have an idea?

Ok, heres my idea i plan to get a boxs of white fake rose pedals and in black permanent marker write love massages on them, make an invitation for my hubby that hes invited to a party just for the two of us and leave it in his lunch box that morning and when he gets home there will be instuctions on the door to follow the rose pedals and at the end will be a nude pic or a paper telling him what im going to do then the pedals will lead to the bathroom where every thing for his shower is waiting for him, then right on the outside of the door i will put a gift basket for him of things that will remind him of when we first go together while hes in the shower then another rose pedal trail that leads him back to the living room where i will be waiting with a sheet on the floor and two chairs in the middle of it one for him to sit in and the other as a prop to give him a strip tease. any suggestions to improve it and how to word the invatation.
--------------------
i hope you are ready to entertain him fully without the children watching mommy strip..your thoughts and plan are perfect. you already thought of everything, you don't need the help of others. originality and very imaginative runs into your project...great idea...

is sending only a nice edible arrangement(fruit basket) a bad gift ideas to our families instead alot of gifts?

My fiance and I come from huge families and this year i really dont think we need to spend as much money as he did last year for our christmas gifts. We already have a 1 year old and we are expecting another child in march and I feel like everyone probably is expecting us to do "big" for Christmas because last year my fiance sent a lot of xmas gifts to our families..(ex: my family got Coach everything..etc even a dog collar for the house dog) this year I think we need to just send those new and very tasty edible arrangements( fruit baskets) and that way we save more and its more of a group gift rather than individual gifts..last night my dad called and asked me were me and my fiance doing like last year? and when I asked him like what, he replied" I was just saying, you guys dont have to get me anything if you guys are sending gifts like last year, but you can fix my TRACTOR?hello???DO WE LOOK LIKE A DAMN ATM! am i being selfish, just because my fiance and i are not broke doesnt mean we want to spend all this money when we have other things going on...idk..
--------------------
I think that sending gift baskets or fruit arrangements are a perfectly suitable option, especially with the way things are financially at this current time. The holidays are all about showing people that you care, and it shouldn't matter how much money you have or how expensive your presents are. The point is that you are gifting them with things that are thoughtful and share in the spirit of the season. Instead of worrying about spending too much, spend time with your family and get them some gift baskets from a site like BisketBaskets.com where you can save money and still be able to give them something beautiful. If they don't understand your decision, they are losing sight of what is really important at this time of year: the love of family. I hope this helps!
