My sisters and i are sending our partents on a trip for Christmas. We thought that we would make up a gift basket full of travel accessories. (like travelers checks, sun screen, lotion) does anyone have any ideas of what they would need the most in Mexico in the month of February. Any suggestions would be great.
--------------------
i say pictures of you and your sister so they remember who sent them, aspirin just in case there drinkers, disposable cameras, water proof camera, if they go snorkeling. snacks so they can eat on the plane just in case there not feed on the plane or so they can snack at the hotel room, when they don't need to eat a whole meal. like chips, peanuts, water, crackers, whatever they like.

The gift basket business?
Is it competitive on ebay? Can anyone do it??
--------------------
My suggestion is if your going to get into a profitable business then sell something thats going to help people in a every day living. Maybe some thing thats going green ect. I sell soot free candles. There cleaner burning and they last longer. They great for plack outs ect. Plus there safer for the environment.

Creative Gift Basket Ideas?
For a Family Reunion? We can not think of any! Its on the 16th and we dont want it to be too expensive or to cheap. There will be more adults than kids but what about something for the adults? Kids? or the whole family? Thanks so much!
--------------------
For a family re-union, you can think of arranging a small party with events, games and other fun items. At the end of the party, you can decide to give a gift to each one which need not be very costly. You can plan to choose toys for children and silver artifacts for adults. To make it more interesting and lively make them win these gifts in some game/event organized during the family re-union. The family members will get a chance to show their talent and at the same time make it more casual and joyful experience.

Wedding/Bridal Shower Gift Etiquette?
I'm going to a bridal shower this weekend and I'm not sure of the gift giving etiquette. It's being held at a country club. They had an engagement party last summer and I brought a gift basket (about $65). How much should I be spending for a shower gift, and should I get a gift off of the registry? Also, the wedding is in mid September and is also formal. I will be bringing a date to the wedding. Should I bring a money gift or should I purchase and mail a gift in advance of the wedding? What's the proper etiquette for wedding/shower gift giving?
--------------------
I would definitley get the shower gift from the registry. The bride and groom probably spent a lot of time picking out what they wanted and are excited to receive those gifts. If you spent $65 for the engagement gift, I would spend at least that much or more for the shower gift. As for the wedding, I think that either putting money in a card or mailing a gift in advance would be appropriate. I don't think that there is "proper" ettiquitte for all of this or if there is people seldom know it and they just go by what their family or community traditions are. What I have listed are just my opinions. I have found when talking with friends and co-workers, that everyone has different expectations of what is to happen at weddings. However, buying from the registry, and giving money have never been argued by any of my friends or co-workers :) Hope you have fun at the upcoming events!

Honeymoon gift basket wedding present?
A couple of friends of mine are getting married soon, and I need to get them a present, so I'm making them a honeymoon basket. They're going to New York, Venice and the Bahamas, so any ideas what I could put in it (necessities, travel guides, that sort of thing)?
--------------------
suntan oil, travel guides, map, journal, stamps for postcards, gift cards for things they may need like rental cars, etc. , beach towels. If you like silly things, put in 2 apples ( new york is the big apple) a book on pasta dishes ( venice) and flip flops or a recipe for the drink " sex on the beach" for the Bahamas. :)

Wedding gift question, can't attend wedding...?
I was invited to the wedding of a very close childhood friend whom I'm no longer very close with. Anyways to make a long story short, I cannot make it b/c it is in Texas and I am on the east coast. What is the protocol for wedding gifts if you do not attend the wedding? I wanted to get him and his wife a present anyways, but they don't have a registry or anything so I don't know what to get. Would a very nice gift basket suffice?
--------------------
If they have a home, a Home Depot or Lowes gift card would be better. If not a basket is a nice token.

How would you feel if your neighbor shot and killed someone breaking into your house while you were sleeping?
Is that an act that you reward with a gift basket, punish with a flaming porch poo bag, or do you respond with indifference?
--------------------
That's a hard one b/c you don't want your neighbor shooting just anyone. Sometimes people come home late or if you didn't inform your neighbor of a house guest you could have trouble! I think it would be better if the neighbor called the police unless they were 100% sure it was a burgler and they were sure that the burglar was going to hurt you and there was no time to call the police. Otherwise someone innocent could get hurt. I guess, I wouldn't respond with indifference. I would say something like "Thanks for watching out for me but I'm really glad that wasn't some kid pulling a prank or a friend trying to get in" That way the neighbor knows that someone lurking around might not always be "lurking". They could just appear to be lurking.

Cookie recipes that do not harden after cooling?
I have been trying to bake cookies for a gift basket for the men at my husband's work. Every recipe I have tried since so far have hardened after cooling the cookies. Am I doing something wrong or does someone have recipes for Oatmeal Raisin, Chocolate chip, and peanut butter cookies that stay soft after cooling? The men at his work like soft chewy cookies not hard ones.
--------------------
I have seen this question a lot. try putting a piece of white bread in the package with the cookies. It will keep them moist. You could also reduce your baking time and cut back on the flour by about 2 tablespoons Here's my pb cookie recipe 1/2 cup peanut butter ( I increase to 3/4 cup) 12 cup butter 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp salt 3/4 tsp soda 1 1/4 cup flour cream butters, sugars and egg blend in vanilla sift in dry ingredients. preheat oven to 375 roll cookies into 1/2 inch balls and smash with a fork. bake 7-9 minutes. these will stay soft if you don't overbake

You can get her an ITunes card and a best friend 'gift' maybe a photo frame - halmark, walmart and target do great friends gifts. You can say everything with the card. You could find a wonderful card that says all it needs to say. You are a good friend. Have fun

How to write a thank you and goodbye letter?
I was given a privilege to play in an orchestra at a high school of which I was not enrolled. The conductors were great, they helped me so much with my playing and advanced my level very quickly. Now after 1 year of playing with them I am leaving to another state (the original plan was to play with them for another year.) I want to write the conductor a thank you letter (and give him a gift basket.) What all should I include in my letter?
--------------------
Dear sir, It was my great luck and pleasure to have this experience of playing in our high school orchestra. And I am quite surprised at my quick advancement in my levels which is all contributed by the great conductors who have helped me so much..... I love our orchestra so much that had initially planned to play with them for another year but due to some personal reasons I am leaving for another state and I would definitely miss our orchestra the most. I thus sadly wish all our team a goodbye and warm wishes and would love to share that this brief period of one year of my life has become one of the most pleasurable and memorable year due to the wonderful days i spent in our orchestra.........it was really a life changing experience. Good Bye and Wish you all the best.

How are retailers supposed to charge sales tax from state to state? What about on food items and non-food items?
I am about to launch an online gift basket site. It will have bagged food items and non-food items. Am I supposed to charge sales tax on the whole basket or just the non-food items within the basket? I think I may need a tax attorney. But i'd like to hear what you have to say...
--------------------
Congress says that online merchants need only charge sales taxes in those states where they have a physical presence -- ie: where you are. no sales tax need be collected on shipments to other states.

the U.S. is the only country in to ever have used a nuclear weapon on another country. Do you think the rest of the world has forgotten that? Do you want us to have "terrorist status" and have the rest of the world knocking at our door to take away our WMD's????
