I'm trying to think of cute symbolic things to put in a graduation gift basket. Like a compass so you "never lose your way", or spices so your life "always has flavor". Any ideas?
--------------------
Wow. That is a wonderful idea. Here are some suggestions from the top of my head: Small flower so you never get too busy for the simple things in life. A watch to never loose track of time. A journal to write down your memories/events so you can one day look back. Good luck and God Bless!

My cousin is getting married and I want to make her a basket filled with stuff as the gift..?
Hey all- my cousin is having a beach wedding at the end of august.. it's her second marriage, and together they have three girls, 11, 13 and 14 years old. since they're a blended family and they have pretty much everything they need and want, i am trying to come up with something creative for their wedding gift. since their wedding is beach themed, i was thinking of creating a giant basket, filled with stuff... but the problem is, i have no idea what type of stuff to get. any suggestions? thanks!

You could definitely do the honeymoon gift basket idea, that sounds like a good one! Sunglasses, beach towels with their names on it, sun tan lotion, etc. You could also do a basket of new kitchen utensils... even though they say they may not need it because they have a house already, they may need to replace old silverware, spatulas, measuring cups, etc. You could get really creative with new hand towels with their names on it, etc. You could put together a movie basket, with movie tickets, a couple movies they like and don't have, popcorn, etc. There are many ideas out there! Good Luck!

ls it bad manners not to buy a gift(s) for a family members new baby?
A family member is pregnant, and her daughter is only 9 months old. Before she was born l spent a LOT of time and money putting together a gift basket + some bigger gifts for her. Since she was born l've never seen her wear any of the clothes, have any of the toys, use the orthodontic pacifiers and bottles etc. She's always dirty, has no toys, etc. Anyway, l really don't want to buy anything except a small stuff toy or token for the new baby because l know the child won't get it! ls this ok?
--------------------
do not put too much time and money in it...go to the dollar store. or buy them some diapers, you know those will be used. also, just because they didnt use it in front of you doesnt mean they didnt use it. as a parent, I have received many items that just werent used, especially toys and clothes, but i did always use the diapers.

beer gift basket for my boyfriend?
for sweetest day this year, i want to make my boyfriend a "beer gift basket"...I found some online but i live in michigan and my state does not allow shipping of alcohol. is this a good idea for him?? can anyone tell me some good, imported beers i should add into this basket? (i want to do about 12-15 different beers). he likes oktober fest-tasting beers the most, but drinks just about anything.
--------------------
Definitely make your own basket, it will save you money. I would recommend these beers. If you have a World Market or Cost Plus, they have a great variety. Buffalo Bills Pumpkin beer Shipyard Newcastle Samuel Smith Oatmeal Hoegarden Pyramid Apricot Petes Wicked Strawberry Blonde Spaten Optimator Guiness Stout Stella Artois Steinlager St. Pauli's Girl Red Stripe It will make a huge basket, btw. Any questions email me Red Stripe is My Favorite.

Homemade gift basket?
I want to make my mom a gift basket for christmas. My budget would be no more then $150. I'm having trouble finding a basket or some type of container to use. I love the ones that come with pre-made gift baskets...where can I find ones like those? Any links? Also I'm not 100% sure what to put in it...I dont want like a theme but like different items...I know her favorite tea but I'm not sure what else...I'm starting early this year :)
--------------------
Bath salts, soap, a box of tea (fruit-flavored is good like orange, cranberry, etc), a washcloth, a small magazine like Guideposts or Reader's Digest, chocolate (but not just any chocolate--get her like a half pound of See's or Werther's Original), a gift card (doesn't have to be a huge amount) to her favorite store, a candle, and of course a card from you! Get a basket at a thrift store that is big enough to hold it all and go to a craft store and get the "grass" to put in the bottom and some thule or cellophane to wrap around it. Gather it up at the top and tie it with a bow!

Gift Basket (extra income or silly idea)?????
I enjoy making gift baskets and I was considering making flyers and posting them throughout chicago (where I live). I would like to have a couple premade for holidays. But I mostly would like to make them at the customers request with thier opinions on how they would like it. Do you think it would work as something extra to do?
--------------------
I think it is a great idea. Actually me and my sister thought of doing something like this at one time. I think it would be a great business to have around the holidays and special occasions. GOOD LUCK!!

Why don't you pick her up some nice bath salts or bubble bath, and maybe a bottle of wine, or some different flavours of tea and a nice teacup. Pick up some great lotions, or even a little gift kit (including your bath soaps and stuff) from Bath and Body works. They have some reallllly amazing smelling soaps and the moisturizor is so supple =) Put in some nice candles and just a card saying "because everyone needs to just relax" or "take a day off, you deserve it" You could even throw in some really devine chocolates like Godiva or Lindors.

gift basket themes?
A few friends and I are hosting a baby shower for a a good friend. There are 70 people coming and we decided that prizes for the games would be themed gift baskets. Here is what we have so far... Car Wash Steelers (we live in PGH) gardening games night date night at home (movie rentals, popcorn, etc) date night out (restaurant gift cards, movie theater cards, etc) Any other ideas? These baskets will be for women of all different ages 18-75)
--------------------
What a baby shower!!! Those are great gift basket ideas but still a lot of money for a game prize. Money that could go for the mommy to be and baby. I would keep it simple. Small baskets with yummy goodies, or lotions. Also you can think about having every one sign up to bring the new parents over a meal. Lunch and Dinner sign up. They just drop it off, no need to come in and chat. Fast easy meals that you can just pop in the over and then throw away the pan. have fun

Need Ideas for a Welcome to USA Gift Basket
I need ideas for a "Welcome to the USA" basket/gift for a foreign exchange student coming from Spain. I was thinking of sticking a US flag as a decoration in there, but other than that, I have no other ideas. She comes in less than a week!

A book about our national parks (like a National Geographic one with cool pictures); a spanish/english dictionary; anything unique from your local area (like I'm from the UP of MI, so I'd put in some fudge, a cheesy t-shirt, gift certificates for pasties, a UP bumper sticker ("say yah to duh u.p. eh?"), etc. Local map and direction to the best place for espresso in town. Movie gift certificates or gift certificate to anything local that's interesting to do (like a mine tour up here, or fishing on the great lakes, etc.) Just think of anything that's different from Spain about your area and go with it.

Who are the people who are going to attend? Mostly men or women? When doing this, plan ahead and get people to donate to you. Since you can't do that this time, here is a suggestion: Go to Kirklands and get a nice container. (what I have done before is a little chest or one of the decorative books with storage. I am unsure of what you are wanting to put in the basket, but you can do Bath & Body works clearance items and their trial items. Put a bath sponge in with it and a relaxation CD. You can get most of this on clearance. Another idea is to buy a popcorn bucket and fill with movie tickets, chocolate, microwave popcorn and a funny movie. (clearance in Wal-Mart) Good luck.
