More & More soap questions????

Ok Now I have another question about molding glycerin soap. As I said in my other question I live in a small town and have no craft store. I either have to drive 4 hours one way to get to the nearest one or order my supplies online. I am making soap baskets for christmas gifts. I am ordering clear glycerin and adding my own color to it & my own scent. I wanted to do peppermint. would peppermint food flavoring work? Or am I gong to have to order the peppermint essential oil?
--------------------
No, my daughter talked to her sister-in-law, that makes soap and she told her that it definity would not work. Are you going to malke me one now that I have given you a good answer??? I suggest that you contact Zim's craft store in Salt Lake City and find out if they have peppermint essential oil. There email is- https://www.zimscrafts.com If you would rather call them, their phone # is 801-268-2505 or 801-544-2141 I know they have some soap making supplies and are very reasonable in price. How ever their glycerin soap is rather expensive. Good luck and God bless, Juanita

Maid of Honor speech help?

So i'd love to hear any kind of advise, tell me what's funny what's not, I don;t care about grammar mistakes only I'll be seeing this anyway. (The names were changed to protect the privacy of the bride and groom). Here it is: For those of you who don't know me, I'm Lauren, our gorgeous bride's little sister. In all my research for this speech (in other words, googling, "Maid of honor Speeches" about a hundred times) everything says to give the bride and groom some advice about being newlyweds. Now I don't know what you guys think, but in my opinion advice about marriage from your very unmarried 16 year old sister is about the worst advice you'll ever get. But the next thing all these websites said was to have a nice story about how you met and how perfect you guys are for each other. so here it goes, when Sarah and Chuck got back together in 2008 it was obvious that no one and nothing would keep them from being in love. Not because they were so obvious about how much in they love they really were, but because they were so respectful to each other. They didn't have to prove that they were in love by being so in your face about it, because of how natural it was. So it was a slippery slope from the time Sarah came home on cloud nine with the text from Phil asking to see her again. I think we still have the wedding magazines that Sarah bought the very next day. So less than 2 years later the house started filling with wedding stuff again; only this time Jess wasn't the one buying the stuff. Now it was from all the guests sitting here today. And boy were you guys generous! I've never seen so many target and bed bath and beyond gift cards, bags, and packages in my life! There was so much wedding stuff that 3 weeks ago, Sarah had to move in my room because her room had become so over stuffed with wedding favors, bridal party gifts, wedding invitations, wedding RSVPs, flower girl baskets in every color, and of course, wedding gifts. But I did get a little piece of advice for Chuck from these three weeks of being roomies. No matter what, DO NOT wake her up in the morning. Even if she'll lose her job, don't worry about it. She can get a new job, but you can't get a new head. She'll saying things to you that she wouldn't normally even think fully awake. She'll throw things, call you names, kick and scream. But don't file for divorce just yet, because the minute she's out of bed and fully awake, she'll be happy as can be. She denies ever saying or doing anything. It's been this way for as long as I can remember. Even on Christmas morning! I remember Beth (our sister) and I trying to wake her up so we could open our presents, and Sarah through a ball at us and went back under the covers. But 20 minutes later she came out saying merry Christmas and, "when can we open gifts?!" so don't take it too personally. Anyway, to close this thing up, I just want to say thank you Chuck and Sarah for being such an amazing example to me in your courtship, so maybe one day I'll actually have some good advice for newlyweds.
--------------------
This is very good -- it's very appealing and the wedding crowd will love it. My only slight reservation would be to referring to everyone's generous gifts as "stuff", particularly that her room was "over stuffed" with gifts, etc. It makes it sound a bit like it was a nuisance receiving all these gifts! People like to think that their gift was "special", and if it's lost in a mound of other gifts, then it obviously isn't. (Are Target, Bed Bath and Beyond Gift stores? Are they reasonably up-market? If not, it's safest not to mention them. But I really wouldn't mention the gifts anyway.) Perhaps you could say instead that your sister's wedding dress, favors, invitations and RSVPs were taking up all your sister's room, and that leads nicely into the rest of your story. I hope the day goes well!

--------------------
It's quite nice and strikes a perfect tone, with one exception: the part about wedding gifts, which skates a little too close to the line where humour meets poor taste. Also, the part about Sarah's room being crammed with favours, bridal party gifts, etc., has nothing to do with advice for the newlyweds, and again, it's not particularly nice to remind everyone that some of them received favours and gifts. If I were you'd I'd remove this entire section: "And boy were you guys generous! I've never seen so many target and bed bath and beyond gift cards, bags, and packages in my life! There was so much wedding stuff that 3 weeks ago, Sarah had to move in my room because her room had become so over stuffed with wedding favors, bridal party gifts, wedding invitations, wedding RSVPs, flower girl baskets in every color, and of course, wedding gifts."

11 acres pasture & trees with a canyon located on atop a hill. Have horses, planning to build a riding arena. It is our home where we are starting a garden & tree nursery. We will be selling variety of fruit & evergreen trees, shrubs, perrenials, flowers & flower baskets. Some names I thought of so far that arent taken: Fairie Meadow Farms Tallulah Gardens Sleepy Ridge Farms Medusa's Garden The Funny Farm "Enchanted" "Harmony" "Mystical" others are too deluted here. Is anyone here an 8th Grade Teacher?

ONLY 8TH GRADE TEACHERS!!!!! What would be the best end-of-the year gift from one of your students if you were to never teach them again? I'm leaving my school this year and need an end-of-the-year gift. My friend is filling one basket for each teacher who taught us with ALL SORTS OF THINGS. It's not fair becuase now, it gives me less options. I want my gift to stand out so she remembers me, as I will remember her for the rest of my life. Any ideas? Thanks to all who answer!
--------------------
teachers REALLY charish heart felt letters. i think whatever you give him/her...you should include a letter telling them what they meant to you as a teacher. i have some of these, and on my worst days, i pull them out and they remind me why i'm teaching! what about something fun for the teacher? like...a beauty treatment if it's a lady. teachers rarely have extra money to spend on extras like manicures and pedicures. if that makes you uncomfortable...what about a really nice picture frame? or a basket with your teacher's favorite snacks? what about a coffee cup that you made at one of those 'paint your own pottery' places?

Good gifts for a friend going to Tokyo?

I am invited to a going away party for a friend who's going to Tokyo for the summer. People are getting her little going away gifts like photo albums, food baskets, purses and travel items. What are some things I can pick up for her to give to her at her party?
--------------------
a emergency pack that pack with candy, gums, tampons, ....anything that safe to carry to travel to other country that you can think of..and pack them in to a travel bag (not bigger than 6" x 6") and she/he can carry-on with her/him.

Easter gifts for my siblings, what do you think....?

I have 3 siblings, an 8 year old brother, a 7 year old sister, and a 6 year old brother. I recently left my job, and i dont really have the money to spend on their easter gifts like I usually do. My step father makes a lot of money and I always feel like he competes with my gifts, I get something great - he has to get something outrageous. I cant compete anymore... The kids are spoiled so I'm worried that they wont be grateful for what I give them... Its a terrible feeling. Not only that, but the 7 and 8 year old will be turning into 8 and 9 years old in april (so i'll be going gift shoping once again) I decided that instead of putting together easter baskets, or buying a pre-made one...that I'll put together an easter egg hunt for them. I bought 60 eggs and filled them with their favorite candy (so each can possibly get 30 eggs) I did this becuase they'll be getting their easter candy in a fun way (they love egg huts) I also bought an empty easter bucket for each child
--------------------
That is an excellent idea! A gift like that is hard to top, because the kids get to do something fun which builds memories which last forever. Very clever :) lol

What do you think of this Christmas idea?

Between my family, my husband's family & my best friend's family (she is like a sister to me), there are several children to buy for at Christmas time. So last year, we only bought gifts for the kids and gave goody baskets to the adults. We spent a day baking cookies, making chocolate-covered pretzels, and making our own Chex mix to fill the baskets. It seemed to go over well, so we're thinking of doing the same thing this year. Money is a little tight, because we're going to Florida for a week after Christmas (to celebrate Christmas with his dad's side of the family). What do you think about this? If you knew ahead of time that your sibling wasn't going to buy anything for you for Christmas (but knew you'd still get some yummy treats), would you be upset? Would you be satisfied with something homemade, from the heart? My siblings and I are all adults, me being the youngest at 29. I just don't see the point in stressing out over buying gifts for everyone, especially when money is an issue and each year it's harder & harder to pick out the right gift for each person. I would prefer they don't buy me anything, and I've told them, yet they insist on asking me what I want. So I give up - they can buy whatever, but I'm not purchasing a gift when I want to give something more personal. But what's your opinion on this? What would you do? I'd like to hear what you think about this idea...
--------------------
That is a though one, but understand where you are coming from. I think the idea of gifts for kids and goodies for adults a brilliant idea. Often as an adult you already have everything, so having something made for you that you can enjoy with the kids is great. If I know my siblings had money problems, I would not be upset by not getting a gift. However, as there are expectations I would indeed do something like a home made gift that is personal. Maybe I would make a gift certificate for every individual. And they can "in" it after the holidays. Do something special which you know they would appreciate and which will be low budget. I know with our family we have agreed just not to buy anything (no kids around). But any of us will bring something with them, often chocolates and alcohol that can be used on Christmas day.

Is It Wrong To Ask...?

my bridal party to go tanning before my wedding?. I plan on getting a spray tanning and a few of my friends are very pale. In the past, we've taken picture together and they have appeared very pale next to me. I want everyone to look amazing on my day, not just myself. I was thinking of getting them gift certificates to a place near us that does the UV Free Mystic Tanning. Would that be a good idea? Am I being rude? All of my friends have done some sort of fake tanning in the past and like it. But, they can't always afford to do so. I would love to be able to give this as part of their bridal gift. I plan on giving them a baskets full of spa products/beauty services as their gifts. In addition, my FI is very pale. How can I convince him to go tanning? I don't want him looking like a ghost next to me. I'm not talking about tanning beds here, but the spray on UV Free Tanning. The safest tan.
--------------------
I think that it being your wedding, and your willing to pay for it, it is not offensive but actually very thoughtful and a wonderful idea. Not only do you want your friends to look amazing next to you, but you keeping them healthy with the Mystic Tan, and your willing to pay for it. Awesome idea and a very thoughtful bride to be :-)

creative phrases to get engraved on my boyfriend's birthday and anniversary gifts? HELP!?

My boyfriend is graduating in a week. I got him the typical gift, a customized graduation basket filled with his favorite items and things to remind him of me, so I've got THAT gift down. But his birthday is in a few weeks and then our one year anniversary is exactly a month after that. Since he's going into Computer Science at TCU, I want to get him gifts that will help him in college, so for his birthday, I want to get him a silver-plated computer mouse that can have a message engraved on it. Then for our one year, I plan on getting him a mousepad with our photo on it and on the bottom is a little silver plate that I can get a message engraved on it. I need help coming up with short, sweet, and CREATIVE messages that go along with his birthday/our anniversary and the fact that they are computer accessories. HEELLLPPPP!!!

Is this a good idea for Xmas gifts? People's favorite things.?

I was planning on putting together goodie basket, like for instance my friend likes wine and rolling cigarettes, so for her goodie basket I was planning on putting together a bottle of an inexpensive wine or two, rolling papers, some lighters. I estimate the total to be about $10-$15. I know its cheap but she will actually use these items. So what do u think? Is it a good idea?
--------------------
That would probably be her favorite present because it shows how well you know her, care about her needs, etc!

Opinions on gifts ideas we want to give attendants at our wedding....?

Women: A basket filled with Wine, wine glasses, candles, a manicure/pedicure gift card and others things such as perfume, bath goodies ect... Men: Flasks or beer mugs with their initials engraved on them. Shot glasses and a bottle of their favorite alcohol... What do you think? Ideas are welcome!

Those sound lovely - very generous.

What's that show called?

The show is about smart college kids. The title has to do with something about science. I think it is on TBS or NBC.(Its not on the websites soo I doubt it.) There is one episode when a girl from their college gives one guy a gift and he over thinks it and buys 20 different baskets. Then he asks her to pick one that has the same price equivalence.

Ideas for inexpensive gifts?

I will be attending a bachelorette party, a wedding shower, and a wedding. I'm really low on cash and am looking for some really thoughtful gift ideas. Please help! Should I bring separate gifts or try to come up with something creative and just give one?? I was thinking a basket for the bachelorette party gift, but would I be able to come up with something to fill the basket? Or perhaps a homemade wedding album or something? HELP!?!
--------------------
There really isn't any need to bring a gift to a bachelorette party. A card perhaps but not really a gift. Buy her a drink or give her something she could use for the wedding like a special kerchief to carry with her bouquet. The wedding shower is where you give gifts instead of bringing one to the wedding. So this is easy! Go to your local paint on pottery studio and make them a special picture frame, bowl, platter....you know, a good thing that all the friends could go in on is making a big platter at a paint on pottery studio that shows the name of the bride and groom and their special day to get married. Then, get a special pen called a Pebeo Pen, (they probably have them at the studio) get a few of them....these pens allow the guests to sign their names on the finished platter itself and a short message. Then, you can bake the platter in your own oven to "cure" the special ink on there and it will be food, microwave, oven safe forever.

I'm making a basket for my boyfriend's 21st birthday...what should I include?

Types of alcohol, glasses, snacks, etc...i want it to be the ultimate man gift :)

Depends on what he likes to drink. I would get a mix of cheap and expensive things. Like one good bottle of vodka and a 12 pack of beer lol. And just a gift card to his favorite fast food restaurant. Just think of everything that he likes and put it in :D

Book him a session with a massage therapist. He'll really appreciate it. Guys would never dream of booking this for themselves, but as a present from you it's great. Some specialise in massage during pregnancy, so you could go along too. PS. I mean a properly accredited massage, not anything else! LOL

a good way to thank the neighbors?

our reception will be in our backyard...we are friendly (but not friends perse) with our neighbors. I have spoken with both on either side to see if they had any concerns about our reception being here...etc...no problems! I don't mind inviting them (but do not wish to imply a gift is expected- it isn't)...but I was considering a "thank you for putting up with the chaos" gift for both...a basket or something- what do you think? suggestions for gift? or is it unnecessary? (parking is going to be off-site, we have an agreement with a nearby business for our guests to park there)
--------------------
You are being very respectful to your neighbors for talking to them and making sure they are prepared for your reception. I don't think you should invite. But, a "thank-you for putting up with the chaos" gift is very nice. It's not expected, but a very thoughtful thing to do and I think a gift basket it perfect. Or, you could bake them something if you don't want to spend that much money. Getting along and being courteous to your neighbors is very important. I don't think these days people are nice to their neighbors like they should be. Acknowledging that your reception will be an affair with lots of people, noise..ect to you neighbors and then letting them know how much you appreciate their cooperation is a very nice and respectful thing to do. There should be more of you in this world!

can you please help me paraphrase??

I'm doing a research project and I hardly use the internet so I have difficulty paraphrasing stuff that I find. If you can, please paraphrase the following 3 paragraphs for me. thanks. Rokna or Thaka: Acceptance of the alliance Roka is the first and smallest of the ceremonies, the parents of the bride and the groom solemnize that the son and daughter respectively have been booked for each other. This is a virtual engagement. Sagai: Engagement The actual engagement takes place a few days before the actual wedding. Rings are exchanged between the bride and the groom, in the presence of a religious head, close friends and relatives. The day of the wedding is normally be fixed after the 'sagai'. Chunni Chadana: Dressing up and blessing the bride One day before the wedding the female members of the groom's household go to the bride's home with the 'suhag ki pitari' (a decorated basket containing gifts from the groom's mother for the bride). These gifts usually consists of 'mehendi' (henna), clothes, jewelery, fruits, dry fruits, dried coconut, dried dates, bangles, 'sindoor' (vermilion powder) and a red 'dupatta' or veil. During this ceremony the ladies sing wedding songs to the beat of a 'dholak' or small drum and vail the bride with the traditional red 'dupatta'.

Wedding goodie bag ideas?

I am in a wedding this weekend and we are making goodie baskets for the bridesmaids. So far we have bath salts, a heating pad, lip gloss, a ice cream cone gift certificate, and we need more ideas! Help me please, we are trying to make these on a pretty strict budget. HELP!
--------------------
Candy and homemaid treats is an easy way to stuff a bag without breaking the bank. you can make little wedding shaped cookies (like bells, doves, whatever you can manage). you might want to include things they might need that day. cute little tissue packets, nail file, clear nail polish, small mirror, a granola bar for strength. a lot of these items are often forgotten and they have to run around before the ceremony looking for them. oh and a bottle of water is GREAT too.

Christians would you let your children dress up in costumes and partake in a non-Christian holiday?

March 21st (2008) is Purim the Jewish holiday of costumes, candy, and merry-making. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purim The centerpiece to the holiday is the reading of the Book of Esther (Original Testament) in its entirety. Many audiences treat the reading like an old fashioned (to non-Jews) melodrama. When the villain is named everyone stomps their feet and hisses. Portions of the story are sung by the whole audience. Other plays, readings, and even puppet shows are performed before, during, and after the holiday. It is also, a traditional day for adults to give gifts and fruit baskets to each other.
--------------------
I love the celebration of Purim. Esther is one of my favorite books, and One Night with the King is one of my favorite movies. IT is a wonderful celebration of God's saving Grace, and a fine example of doing what is right even when it is not easy or safe. btw. I am Christian.

I'm going to a Never Shout Never concert and I need some tips and advice on some things?

I'm going to a NEVER SHOUT NEVER concert in November, and I wanted to get Christofer Drew a little gift or a basket of little things he might like. Can anyone give me andy advice or ideas on what he might like? I want it to be special. Now making sure he gets it . . . how can I be sure that he gets it? Throw it on stage? It's a general admission concert and the venue is rather small. Does he, as of now, come out before or after the show to meet and hang out with his fans? Will I be able to get pictures with him? Does he sign autographs at the merch table still? Any help on being able to possibly meeting him? What experiences have you had with Christofer and his concerts? What are they typically like? Any hints on what to expect or watch out for? THANK YOU for any help/tips/advice, etc. I am so sorry for all my questions!
--------------------
Gifts are always hard. It needs to be something that you can take into the show and it wont get ruined. Make some artwork or donate to a charity in his name. He'd love that! There's really no way to MAKE SURE he gets it. You can try throwing it on stage. It might work, which takes me to the next question. In my experience, he usually doesn't come out after shows. He's a super nice guy, but he really doesn't like getting his picture taken for some reason. However, if he does come out at your show and you ask him for a picture and an autograph he's not going to say no. Like I said, he's super nice. I've seen Never Shout Never 3 times and I've never met him. The shows have been really fun though! The closest I've come to meeting him I guess would be one time after a show me and a bunch of other fans were hanging out by the bus outside the venue. We could hear him playing his ukulele inside the bus. He was playing Happy and singing and then everybody outside started singing and then he came out of the bus and kind of crowd surfed the little group that was there while he kept playing and singing. It was kinda weird! haha, but neat. Then security told everyone they had to leave. Anyway, no matter what happens you'll have fun!
