My mom is adopting toddlers from the Philippines. Where can I find traditional Filipino toys, games, anything?
I'd like to make her a gift basket for Christmas and so far I've found children's books, cook books, and books to learn Tagalog. Is there anything I can get her that's not a book?
--------------------
modern day filipinos have the same toys as any normal kid have but long ago, traditional filipino games use indigenous materials that can be found on their environment such as coconut shells, wood, abaca, bamboo, rattan, and clay. for example, miniature clay pots for "play-cooking", abaca for dolls, and any toy that can be made out of these materials. most of them don't have toys yet at this age and use their imagination and resourcefulness to substitute things like blanket for tents as playhouses, leaves as food(a little dangerous tho) and stones to assemble things. the bulk of traditional filipino toys are in school age years. so its ok if you'd just give her toys that can be found anywhere. besides, these traditional things are very hard to find nowadays.

What foods pair well with Bailey's Irish Cream?
I've thought of chocolates and cheesecake. Also coffee, though it's not *technically* a food. This is for a gift basket; I'd like something less obvious than these ideas. Any suggestions?

Why does my cat like to lick certain plastic bags?
She is about 8 years old, she doesnt lick regular grocery bags but she LOVES to lick the kind of bag that makes a crinkly sound. For example...the clear plastic wrap they use when they make a gift basket. She will just sit there and lick it for hours. Very strange....

Any suggestions to top off girlfriend's birthday present?
Ok so i want to do a gift basket thing. Along the back im gonna have 3 boxes of some of her favorite candies. Then in front of that i'm gonna have 2 of her favorite movies. All i need help with is something to go in the center. Nothing too expensive or anything because im on a tight budget!
--------------------
It depends on her age. I would say either a small stuffed animal. Or you can be sentimental and romantic and make up some 'IOU' cards. Maybe just buy a birthday card, then that will be in the front with her name on it and all the gifts around it...it will look nice.

My sister is having a scheduled c-section for her second little girl on March 10th, 2010. Gift Help!!?
I want to put togehter a gift basket with items in it just for her, she kept everything from her first little girl so the baby essentially needs nothing but love and breast milk, lol. My sis is amazing and had a very difficult pregnancy and to make matters worse for her she now has to have a c-section. I just need ideas for a gift basket, so far I have some nipple cream, those cool packs for nursing, a summer dress and some nail polish - any other ideas are greatly appreciated!!
--------------------
Food- her favorite snacks and goodies. If she is anything like me, she will be hungry if she is breast feeding. I am a small person with a generally small appetite (even when pregnant) but my appetite is huge after delivery while nursing. And I have had two c-section and the last thing you want to think about is preparing a snack. So put in her favorite chocolates, snacks and some her favorite fruit etc. I know that would have been wonderful had I received something like that after either one of my c-sections.

What do I put in a gift basket for my boyfriend?
He works here in California for a big company that mines minerals and he really hates his job. He has 12 hour shifts two days at a time and after next week, he will be done with the job completely...so, to celebrate I want to make him a basket to get him through the last week at work. So far I have a redbull, a monster, and an amp (because those are his favorites), and a bmx magazine. I'm not sure what else to put in this "survival kit" i'm making. any ideas to keep him occupied on breaks or just of fun things to put in there? Thanks!

Christmas gift ideas to give to a family?...?
I'm sure money is tight for everyone this year...but I don't want to lose the Christmas spirit. I still want to get everyone gifts. My sister & her husband have 4 kids, my brother & his wife have 2 kids... I'm looking for some ideas for Christmas gifts for the whole family. What I'm going to do is buy each family tickets to the Aquarium thats open year round, it's indoor & something they can do together as a family. And I'm going to make all the kids a little gift basket with gummy sharks (etc) in it and their ticket! It's only going to cost me $75 for my sisters family of 6. Any other suggestions people can use this time of year??
--------------------
You did very generously by your sister, I applaud you! Years ago I found some websites that I use as spring-boards to create my own personalized gifts. Actually I like them more than the giftees, (my husband and son soo have no imagination) so I did all my shopping at the 75% off sales eons ago. The first is Buy Nothing Christmas. At first glance, it's a Christian Youth Group oriented site. Down the right hand side are some non-religious coupon booklet printouts that can get you started on ideas to attach a coupon to a smaller gift. Another is Clutter Free Christmas Ideas for Men. You get directed to the FlyLady Cleaning organizational page (she's a hoot, and her plan works) and there's a list of ideas. Another is a list of practical make-it-yourself home products, but you might find something gift worthy and fun on it. You'll have fun looking at the pictures of what you can make from an old bowling ball, or a fan that doesn't work anymore, etc., on Dave's Garden Trash to Treasure Community Forum. We made a rule in my extended family years ago, no gifts to anyone over 18, except to grandparents. We have one surviving grandparent and she makes a special cake for each family and gives each grandchild a check. Nice cards for Niece and Nephew are up to $3.50, and let's face it, they really want the $$$, which you just can't afford come January. So we all agreed to live within our means, within our immediate families, with phone calls and visits when possible during the year. Hope this helps.

CHRISTMAS GIFT ADVICE: For both parents?
I want to get a gift for my parents this year, but I don't have enough money to give them separate gifts. The budget would really have to be no more than $15. I was thinking of making something, but I don't know what to make. If I could buy some supplies with that much money and make something, then that would be great. However, I don't know where to start. They're in their mid-50's, but they're definitely modern. They both like sports and books. If anyone has some ideas that would be great.. such as supplies to make something, item ideas for a gift basket, etc.

Christmas Gift for a girl?
i want to get/make a gift for a girl I like in my class. We talk a lot but I still don't know much about her to know what to get her. I was thinking a gift basket but I dont know how to make one or what to put in it. Umm I dont want to make it obvious that I like her because I'm not ready to tell her yet. I still want to learn more abuot her and have her learn more about me before I make a move that might turn out awkward and ruin the friendship. Also I don't know if she has a boyfriend yet. Any suggestions on what I can give her. No: Money/gift cards... Something thoughtful and creative. 60 bucks max.

need gift idea, any suggestions?
i am going christmas shopping this weekend for my little brothers (they aren't really little, just younger than me!) ages 18 and 15. they both play guitar VERY well (self taught) and i was looking for some gift ideas for them. i wanted to put together a gift basket for each of them containing some of the things they might need for their guitars (picks, strings, etc) but i also wanted to add some other things...i'm just not sure what! it doesn't HAVE to be guitar themed, it can just be music themed or something that they as teenage boys would get a kick out of. i'm trying to stay with cheaper priced options, however i don't have an EXACT budget so if you guys could let me know about some not-too-pricey items to include in their gifts, please, help!

What about a subscription to a music magazine? Or sheet music from one of their favorite bands? Blank CD's would be good for the basket.

What gift is more appropriate for my boss (male employee female boss)?
My boyfriend is leaving the job that he's had for the past 5 years, since he found a better gig. He was the only employee that reported to his supervisor (a female, older & married) and they developed a very casual friendly working relationship, never any hostility etc. So when he broke the news she became very sad and kept thinking that she was a bad boss which made him want to leave. So he wants to send her a gift of some sort, to arrive on the first Monday morning which he is no longer there. But we are wondering, which gift is most appropriate? 1) Edible arrangements bouquet 2) Flowers 3) Gift basket with either chocolate/wine/etc? Thanks :)
--------------------
Whatever he thinks is appropriate. If she isn't a drinker no wine. If she is allergic to pollen, avoid the bouquet. If she is overweight avoid the chocolate. If your boyfriend has no information on her preferences, play it safe as the other poster said and go with Edible basket of goodies :D I think it would depend more on the delivery than the actual gift, as to if it was deemed inappropriate or not. Now, back I go to spam that tarded question I was on :\

hostess gift?
My boyfriends parents invited us to stay with them next weekend in a vacation home they rented in the countryside. I want to show my appreciation by bringing a gift. I'm not sure about wine and food, as I dont want it to seem that whatever we get them, they need to open while we're there. Food isnt out of the question, but do you think thats tacky? I would like them to enjoy the gifts when they want, and not feel obligated to share with everyone. I was thinking of taking them out to dinner one night, but there are two other couples besides us and that could get expensive. In the past, Ive gotten them things for their kitchen, as they both love to cook, but am not sure if giving similar things would be redundant. Maybe a gift basket filled with moderately priced things. Nothing too crazy.
--------------------
My recommendation is two fold. Given that this is a rented cottage then anything given to them, will require them to bring it back home. Why don't you put together a basket of food and drink items for the whole household to use during the visit. Special treats, small size condiments, etc. so everyone will enjoy a little something extra. After you get home, then send your boyfriend's parents a small thank you gift for including you in their vacation plans. My recommendation is a photograph of all you together taken on the vacation in a lovely frame. This is a thoughtful gift that will mean all the more as it will preserve the memory as well as acknowledge their kindness.

Gift ideas for "little sister"?
I'm a Varsity cheerleader at my school and it's tradition that every varsity girl gets a "little sister". Which is basically someone from the JV squad. We are going to cheer camp in 2 weeks and are rooming with our little sisters. I have to get mine something but I just don't know what to get her. She's an incoming freshman and that's all I really know about her. Any ideas on what to get her? I was thinking something along the lines of getting a basket and filling it up with a few small things and maybe 1 or 2 bigger things and making it a gift basket? I don't know. Please help:)

Mother's Day gift for a very picky mother?
We are trying to decide what to get my husband's mother for Mother's Day. She is hard to buy for because she doesn't like much of anything. She doesn't like flowers or houseplants. She doesn't like any kind of collectibles, decorations, knick-knacks, or anything along those lines. Whenever she gets a gift like that, she gives it to someone else. She is very picky about what she eats, so it's hard to find a gift basket that she would enjoy. No fat, no sugar, no candy, etc. The last couple of years, we've just given her a gift card, but we don't want to do that again. However, we had thought about getting her a gift certificate to a spa or massage therapist, but my husband said he knows she would never go because she wouldn't be comfortable in such a setting. The only thing she enjoys, that we know of, is her church. She is Catholic and in her late sixties. My husband says he is giving up trying to find a gift for her, but I'm trying to be creative. So, I'm just looking for some ideas for the woman who likes and wants nothing in particular!

13 yr. old girl Christmas gift ideas?
I know people ask this question a lot, but I read some and I still don't have a good answer. What are some things that a 13 yr. old girl would want for Christmas? I already have a cell phone & an iPod. And I hate getting gift cards, b/c I hate spending money, so money's out too. I don't know why I don't like it, but I don't, I love shopping though. I've already asked for a digital camera & a gift basket from Bath & Body Works. I don't want any CD's, b/c 1.)I have iTunes and 2.)I don't really listen to music besides my iPod. I already have a Nintendo DS, and don't want a PSP, & we can't afford a Wii. My grandparents are going to redo mine & my sister's room [[we share a room]] for out present from them. I'm not that big on concerts, magizines, boooks, and my mom already has A LOT of nail stuff. What else can I ask for, all I can find is the digital camera & the gift basket. I know you may think I'm spoiled or w/e, but I've gotton all this stuff over years & from different ppl
