Suggestions for a gift basket? My grandpa is undergoing kemo and I want to get him a thoughtful practical gift
My grandpa is on kemo for prostate cancer. He's not nauseous and still has his appetite, but is diabetic- so sending sweets is out. He is so weak and tired- I live in NY and he's in Idaho- I can't be there to care for him but want to show him I still care so much- Do you have any thoughtful practical gift ideas? I call weekly to talk and tell him I love him- I just want to give something tangible that can help him feel better... i think i should give my grandma something too- she's going through soo much right now with him being sick... (they just had their 60th aniversary!)

I just read the best book: Kitchen Table Wisdom: Stories that Heal by Rachel Naomi Remen. It is a national best seller and it's not hard to see why. This author is a doctor, a counselor (for cancer patients), and a patient herself (has suffered from a chronic condition since her teens). This book is a collection of short 1- to 2-page stories that are so inspiring. I couldn't put it down ("I'll read just one more...okay, no, just ONE more...") I highly recommend it for any cancer patient. Many of the stories are cancer-related. The good news is you can purchase this book on Amazon in like new condition for $6-$8 (including shipping). If your grandfather enjoys reading even a little, this would be the perfect thing to send: inexpensive, easy to ship, and extremely uplifting/inspiring. As far as your grandmother... I watched my sweet mother-in-law selflessly care for her cancer-stricken husband for over 3 years. I remember wanting to do something to help too, so I gave her a certificate for a day spa - to help her relax and rejuvenate. She used it to get a pedicure. She told me it was heavenly - just what she needed. Best wishes to your grandparents!

Need gift idea for family in hospital- Cannot have live flowers.?
My friend's mom is in hospital. She's in Intensive care and cannot have live flowers. Does anyone have any suggestions. I can't go to hospital but i want to send a gift basket or something at least to her family in waiting room..???
--------------------
I would send some dinner for the long hours spent sitting caring for the MOM , as one tends to eat the cafeteria food when a person is sick in hospital, a good meal really warms the heart and soul, when so much worry is in the air. My best wishes to your friends Mom and a speedy recovery.

Christmas gift for girlfriend?
My girlfriend is 19 and i don't know what to get her for Christmas. We have been together for a few years but I'm out of ideas now. I was thinking of a gift basket but idk what to put in it. What should i do?

Sometimes my friend you have just got to go out and look for ideas ... in the shops, in the catalogues, magazines .. anywhere. To be honest, gift baskets can be a bit dull and tend to follow 'that'll do' kind of thinking. You need to be innovative and at least find something that will surprise her ... the smallest item can be appreciated if it is fun and unexpected. But remember, it has to be personal and a few small items can be better received than one expensive but unnecessary gift! Go to Marks & Spencer and get her some Per Una lush slippers and a dressing gown but wrap a small bottle of fav scent in the middle of it all. I assume you are in the UK? Good hunting ..

What are some cute little gifts I could put together for my friend who just went into labor?
One of my very close girlfriends just recently went into labor and I plan on visiting soon, but I'd like to get together a little gift basket or something cute to bring with me. Any ideas of what I can do?

Does she know what the sex of the baby is yet? If you do, get lots of little presents that are either pink or blue, depending on the gender or if you don't know, then it's best to go with the colours yellow or green. Stuff like toys for the baby or anything that would help as it's growing older, blankets, clothes, bottles, dummies, nappies and maybe even some gifts for her, like chocolate, some flowers, bath kits, perfume, music or any sweet little mementos you see, could even be a small keyring, as long as you thought it connected you to her in some way. Then, there's the fun of decorating the basket too, like adding pretty ribbons and string, try and make it creative by maybe drawing your own design out and adding your own cut out shapes onto it or famous Disney characters. Good luck!

baby shower gift for mommy?
I want to make a gift basket for my bf for her baby shower. This will be her 2nd child. I want to make it more her and center around her interests, since everything else has to do with the girls. It'll be more like a fun after baby gift type thing. Does anyone have any ideas?

Things for relaxation - like a CD of calming music, lotion, tea. Also, a coupon book for bringing over a dinner, an hour of babysitting, a load of laundry, running an errand, etc, would be something that any mom would treasure! But you know your friend and her interests the best - and whatever you do, I'm sure she will be very thankful - it is such a sweet idea!

I want to order a gift basket from a "1800-FLOWERS" type of place. Will my friend receive the gift at Fort Benning GA if I mail it to the same address that I mail letters to? Would he be allowed to receive such a gift? Thank you kindly.

If there is any thing breakable in a letter that's bad to. when I was in they called you one at a time to grab your mail. they would have you slap it out of there hand so is to break what ever is in there. There not supposed look at your mail but they did. Thats just the it was and thats fine. Just a letter. He will like it. Send him some thing big once he is out of boot.

What are some other good "Mini Bar" bottles to add to my gift basket?
I am making a gift basket for my best friend's 21st birthday. It is going to be filled with a bunch of the Mini Bar 50ml bottles. One that she can try to see what she likes and ones that just look cool or sound like they would be good. I'm looking for some really cute looking bottles or unique alcohols. It's going to be a gift from myself and a few others so we're all dividing up the cost. These are the ones that I have bought so far and I'd love people's suggestions of other good ones to search for. Thanks! Absolut Peach, Absolut Pears, Sour Apple Pucker, Bacardi Razz, Rumple Minze, Bacardi Big Apple, Myer's Rum, Grey Goose, Belvedere, Hynotq, Jose Cuervo Gold, Kahlua, Parrot Bay Passion Fruit, Patron Silver, Bailey's, Crown Royal, Skyy, Bacardi Silver, Captain Morgan, Jagermeister, 99 Bananas, Disarrono, Seagrams 7, Goldshlager, & Tanqueray.

UV vodka has some good tasting stuff for a beginner drinker the pink lemonade is good but they have lots of other flavors. Here is their site. http://www.uvvodka.com/home.html Also maybe just add some shot glasses in the basket so she has something to remember her 21st birthday by. You can get some funny ones at spencer gifts. Good luck and be safe.

What's a great gift for a great boss?
I've only worked here for like 2 1/2 months and my boss is waay chill; like super laid back. She made my first job worth the while and I've learned a lot. Next week will be my last week because I'll be heading off to college soo I want to give her a nice parting gift. I've thought of like gift baskets and maybe CDs or something but what else can I get her...? She's sort of girly. Likes computer gadgets and electronics.. listens to all types of music. . .
--------------------
Your parting gift should not be something expensive or permanent. I think a small flower arrangement for her desk from a florist, or even from a grocery store floral department, would be about right. They can provide a pretty little gift card to go with it.

Thank you gift ideas for dieting sister in law?
Recently, my brother and sister-in-law hosted a 70th birthday party for our mother. My husband and children and I traveled from Ghana, Africa to NJ to be a part of it. Truth be told, if it hadn't been for the party, we'd not have gone as the expense to us was fairly significant. Nonetheless, it was wonderful to see my Mom and brothers and sister who all live in the States. I'd like to personally thank my sister-in-law and brother for what they did by sending a gift. Any ideas? She just recently lost over 100 lbs, so the idea of a food gift basket is out. Thanks. Barb

Gift certificates are a nice way to say thank you to any one. Almost every establishment has them. You can get one for a movie theater, a nice restaurant, music stores have them to buy music CD's. Or maybe one from a nice department store would be nice too. It could be for both your brother and sister-in-law to enjoy together. I admire you for wanting to thank them for all they did. That is very nice of you. Hope this helps!

how can i make a cheap gift basket?
ok so me and my friends are having a xmas sleepover (a little late i know) and we're exchanging secret santas and i wanted to make a gift basket i want something kind of wamr and wintry and have some things that we could still use at the sleepover so far i have: a bottle of bubble bath that looks like champagne hot chocolate popcorn candy canes i dont know what else to include i dont want to put in a dvd and i gave them pajamas last year too so what other things could i put in that would cost less than $20 total? and i dont want frames or make up either

- comfy socks or slippers that can probably be found cheap at a post Christmas sale. - dollar stores usually carry packages of loofahs or bath sponges that would go with the bubble bath theme - Christmas scented candles (or a scent that matches the bubble bath) also a dollar store or after-Christmas sale item - a cute mug to put the hot chocolate in - a CD of relaxing music or of Christmas music - sparkling cider to match the Champagne bottle bubble bath - warm cider mix to go with the cocoa - mini-marshmallows for the cocoa Biggest tip is hit your local dollar store and search occasionally you'll find great filler items and your local Wal-mart or K-mart post Christmas Sale I would pick a theme though either the "relaxing bubble bath" or "Warm Christmas"

Where can I get inexpensive baskets and mugs?
Ones that are like 7"x6" or something along the lines of that. I am planning on making gift baskets for people for Christmas and I need to know where I can get 8 of these things for maybe like $1-$2 or something. I checked AC Moore's website and found nothing and I did find some on the Michael's site but they did not have any prices. I do not have a lot of money so I need to know where I can find them for as cheap as possible. Also, can I get Christmas mugs at like a dollar store? If so, for how much do you think? Thanks in advance(:

Sympathy Gift...but not death-related?
My boyfriend's sister's husband had an accident involving some sort of head trauma a few days ago. He survived, but there is damage; how extensive and how permanent is unknown yet, but it will be a long road to recovery. My boyfriend is going down to visit this weekend. He felt it would be better to feel things out for now and then have me come down another weekend, which is fine. But I do want to send something. What can I send? A card I guess. But what else. Flowers is weird. I looked at 1800flowers and the "Get Well" gift baskets are like teas and other things and obviously directed at the sick person. The funeral stuff is like fruit and cheese and cookies. That seems oddly celebratory, but maybe that's because funeral's are supposed to have a dimension of honoring the person who died. Any ideas? I am considering making a meal of some kind and sending it with my boyfriend, but I don't really cook.
--------------------
I think a meal or anything that will lessen the load for them as they deal with this would be nice- If you don't cook you could try Omahasteaks.com they have prepared meals you can send

"Gift basket" item ideas for our 15 year old friend's birthday present?
She has like everything, so we're giving her a basket full with cool stuff. Any ideas?

Get something you know she won't have. Something that you put your effort and care into. Usually homemade baked goods are a good idea, maybe a framed picture of her and her friends, or a charm bracelet could work. Whatever you think she would really appreciate. Flowers are also nice, scented candles, stuff that smell nice and make you feel relaxed. Hope you find a good gift for your friend. Much love, A friend.

What Are Some Things I Should Put In A Gift Basket For Newlyweds/Wedding Gift? Young Couple, Fun Gift?
Two of my good friends are getting married next month and I love the idea of putting together a little gift basket with "newlywed essentials". We're all in our 20's so I want it to be a fun and happy gift (not so much sentimental and practical...I'm not looking to give them toothpaste and lightbulbs). I'm thinking like Tylenol, condoms, duct tape...the silly things. They aren't a shy couple, so nothing will offend them, and they aren't having a formal reception so there's no worries of their family getting offended or upset by something that could be given. Positive, helpful suggestions would be SO appreciated! Thank ya all!! :)

A vendor gave me a $100 gift card for the holidays. Do I have to get her something in return?
Does someone know the proper business etiquette for getting holiday presents for vendors? Recently, I'd hired a vendor / graphic designer (owns her own company) to do some work for us. We've been working very closely with her, so I invited her to our holiday lunch. Prior to the holiday lunch, I left $50 gift cards for my two direct reports. After our lunch, she gave me a $100 gift card, thanking me for our business. I feel the need to return the favor, but feel awkward getting a her present too -- especially one that matches her $100. My wife says, heck no: she's a vendor and I'm not obligated to get her anything. Still, I don't know what to do. I've received gift baskets and cookies from other vendors, but don't feel the need to send them anything in return. But for this particular vendor (since I work so closely with her), I feel like I have to get her something. What's the proper etiquette?
