Which Valentines day gift should I get?

Ok last year I got: Teddy bear, roses, godiva chocolates, PJ's from La Senza, and a spa basket from the body shop. I'm a regular gift buyer...so I'm running out of ideas of what to get her. Xbox with guitar hero (she has played it once and thought it was hilarious) or Ipod classic, with car adaptor, and speaker base (currently doesn't have an MP3 player) Which gift would you prefer?

Try looking for things such as chocolates, shower gel, aftershave, fragrance, etc that either fit the shape of a star, or you can always stick stars and moons on them.

Valentines gift for him(men please answer)?

Ok, we have been together 6 years and married 5. I really want to get him something nice and different. I have gotten him baskets fileld with mens toiletries cologn etc..., video games, and even a big screen HD TV, in the past. i want something he would like andappreciate, but that is not over $100. He is almost 25 so I would like it to be age appropriate. Help, he is so difficult to buy for.

If he likes sports or music get a pair of concert tickets or sporting event tickets. That way you both can enjoy it together.

Is a basket of edible treats a suitable Eid gift?

I want to give an Eid present to a Muslim co-worker (who's a dear friend) and her family. I know that Muslims cannot have anything containing alcohol or non-halal animal products (like gelatine or lard). My friend has also found out that she's lactose intolerant. I have started putting together a basket of food goodies - can anyone tell me if these would be acceptable (or has any other suggestions)? - Bottle of alcohol-free sparkling elderflower presse drink - Home-made fruit and nut cookies (no animal fats) - Dairy-free chocolates from the health store - Home-made spiced pineapple chutney
--------------------
sounds all pretty good to me. most muslims example from morocco love love love a type of cake i have only seen made in italian bakeries , it is layers of crispy filo dough very as long as it doesnt have the pork, enzymes or geletin or lard, animal rennet. i am not sure on the flower drink , never heard of it., just remember you dont have to go to extremes , we can eat all you eat and drink all you drink as long as it doesnt contain the animal and pork ingredients and no alcohol of course. but most muslims dont like drinks to look or resemble wine. so if the flower drink comes in a wine looking bottel as sparkling cider and most fruit juices for holidays come she probably wont drink it. trust me i love the white sparking grape from welches in the wine bottle, and my husband refuses to buy it, he had a fit when my friend gave us some cider in the fancy wine bottle . when they left he dumped it out because the bottle resembled wine. even though our friends who gave it to us were muslim and of course no alchohol.

These are to be theme gift baskets for the 5th grade to auction off. I need new and different ideas; Movie night, Sports Lovers, sleep-over night, Baby girl/boy baskets and beauty spa baskets are all done to death. Any great - WOW ! - I wish I had thought of that ideas?

How will the recession affect your Christmas this year?

Will you do the same as you always do? Will you be traveling less? Will you do less presents in general? Or just decide against getting presents for acquaintances and coworkers? How will it affect you this year? We will not be traveling this year to see family, so we'll be staying in. (My husband and I) and I think instead of exchanging gifts we may put both our money toward preparing for our new (first) baby that will be here soon. I do plan on doing lots of baking and giving out little baskets of cookies to friends that live close.
--------------------
I'm still travelling to see my family for Christmas. No recession is going to stop me from being with the people I love most for the holidays. Our little girl is due in 3 more weeks and shes going to meet her family this Christmas. The recession has had no effect on me yet this year so I'm not about to let it now.

Hey guys! My friend is selling gift baskets for a project, and needs your help coming up with an awesome name. Her name is Amanda Watts, she's selling gift baskets. You can incorporate her name into the business name if you want to, but it's not required. Just some fabulous name for a company that sells gift baskets. Thanks!

Crazy month of gift giving, and IM BROKE? What should I do?

I have four gifts in the month of June to get. My husband and I just moved, so we are broke! I have to get something for mom, my grandma, little cousin who is turning two, and a friends baby shower. My top priorites are my mom of course, my little cousin dosn't need anything huge because her parents never gave me anything when I was growing up, and she is only 2! I never usually get my grandma anything, so I guess that maybe a card would do...maybe a 10 dollar gift card..if you think that is enough, and I'm not sure for the baby shower. This girl isnt really a good friend of mine, but her husband and mine work together, and I don't want to weird and show up with nothing. She has a baby registry, so I will go off of that, and than maybe put everthing in a basket with those little travel baby shampoos or something. But, any other ideas! My mom loves books, and going out to lunch..she is always busy and stressed with work too, so something that would help her would be nice...but, of course..im on a budget because of all the gifts. I don't want to spend over 100 dollars on all the gifts.

How many in here get something from the Easter bunny?

We didn't celebrate the Easter Bunny back home, just the day Jesus rose, so the Saturday evening celebration was big with my family. Now that I have kids, they expect Easter bunny gifts. I just put some chocolates and little knick knacks in a small basket, but their friends' parents treat their kids as if it was Santa Claus again!
--------------------
I am concerned about that too.I want my kids to understand it is about Jesus and not bunnies. I will give them Easter baskets and an egg hunt but that is about it.

Does Gift Giving Always Come From the Heart.?

One time I got a small soap and shampoo in a packaged basket worth about $2 the most. To me I felt greatly offended. I even heard one of the people in the background say: "I need to take a shower." Ok. I take no offense, but if gift giving comes from the heart, which I believe it does regardless if a person smells or not, would YOU give a gift like this to someone and then people snicker and make fun of. Example: Let's say Jane had bad teeth, and I'm talking need braces or straightening, and I gave her a toothbrush and toothpaste as a gift, wouldn't that be demeaning and sad to her??? I think it would.
--------------------
Some people are just plain mean, they should stop and think before they do stuff like that. We had a girl that worked with us she was in foster care even though she was an adult as she was missing a couple neurons. She had never really been taught to care for herself. Someone gave her soap, deodorant, shampoo, and something else. She was so sweet she thought they got them for her because she didn't make as much money as the others. There were snickers and remarks behind her back and she over heard some of them. I found her sitting in the hall crying. I'm not one who has a very good control on my mouth. I tied into the worse offenders and then made up my mind she needed to have someone teach her. We took her to lunch on Saturday and then back to her place. We showed her the different things and explained their use and what they did. She was amazed. The foster home she was raised in as a child only allowed them to bathe once a week, she thought that was normal. They always used the cheapest bar soap to wash with and wash their hair. She wasn't allowed to use deodorant because it was expensive. Those people did her so much injustice. Once she knew she had been taught all kinds of wrong things she started learning on her own. With in one year she was able to advance to living on her own. She still works for the same company, she's learned to do some other jobs there and makes more money now. She also married a man from another group home and they are very happy. They have no children because she knew they could have problems too, I am so happy for her. I had a bad spell with my teeth, we had something in our systems that caused the teeth to go hollow. My dad had full dentures by the time he was 21, my sisters I think were 23 and 27. I managed to hold on to most of mine till I was in my late thirties, then they just fell apart. I also had one other problem, novocaine, nor any of the other things like that work on me. I always had to go to an oral surgeon so work could be done. It cost 5 times what a regular dentist did and we didn't have coverage. For a few years I was somewhat snaggle-toothed. My family doctor said I was starting to have an irregular heart rhythm, he decided it was from the toxins of my teeth. (I had no clue bad theeth could affect the heart). He put me in the hospital and took the ones I had left all at once. Six weeks later I had my plates and no more trouble with my heart. Like I said I have no trouble using my mouth so when something was said about my teeth I explained and asked if they would like to make a donation to help me get them fixed. That shut them up. Your very right about how inconsiderate some folks can be, I would never give a gift like that. I never even gave one of those fancy bubblebath and soap baskets they sell. When I give a gift I try to think about what that person is like, what they like and what would mean something to them. I think you must be a very nice person to think about how others would feel and have the guts to ask the question. May you have a Merry Christmas and may your New Year be Very Happy.

chirstmas gift for my boyfriend. ideas?

I was looking for something for my boyfriend's Christmas gift. The budget for me is around $40-45 dollars. (his birthday is Thursday and I spent around $50 dollars on him. Then our 1 year was a little bit ago and I spent around $100. So I figured around $40-45 would be fine...because I'm only 15 and that is the amount i have left...) Any ideas on gifts that will only be around that much? I've gotten him shirts, jackets, belts, xbox games, candy, hats, baked goods, a journal (he writes), funny cards, homemade cards, and a themed goody basket which was a movie theme for our one year (he asked me out at the movies). So I went to the mall and I realized I didn't have to many ideas...I want to do something new ish kinda ya know? I need ideas from guys on what if they have or had a girlfriend what they'd want. I know it's the thought that counts and it should have meaning but I really am having hard time with this! So just cool ideas on gifts or something would be helpful. Thanks! Happy Holidays, Megan

homemade gift idea for husband?

My family is exchanging homemade gifts for Christmas this year. I'm really excited about the gift I've made for my daughters but I have no clue what to do for my husband. A little history... I've made him several homemade gifts in the past, but I could never tell if he really liked them or if he thought they were silly. Some of the things I've done include photo albums, a CD of our favorite songs, coupons, and a book of poetry that I wrote. I'm stumped about what to do this year because none of my previous ideas were particularly successful. He's interested in outdoor sports such as hunting and fishing, and he just bought a truck that he loves. I thought about putting together a basket of stuff for the truck but I don't know if that counts as homemade. Any suggestions?

Hi! I was doing a Search to find inspiration for my husband when I came across your question! My DH and I are doing the same thing, he has made me something at work and I have no clue what it is other than it isn't clutter! I too have done the same things as you in the past and again he has never really done anything or said anything to make me think he thought they were great! I did think about making a basket of things for him in the car, or for at work (totally counts as home made you will assemble it at home right?) but I have decided against it, and I am still hoping to find something else! I have thought about making a secret hollow book, and putting some chocolate in it (but seeing as I steal his chocolate it would be pointless!) but you could do this with a hip flask? The one thing I know I am making are pretzels! I will make a huge batch and freeze them so he can eat themas and when he defrosts them! My other plan is a book of quotes, but after that I am as stuck as you! Good Luck!

Gift idea's 11 year old girl?

I need some gift idea's for an 11 year old girl who just had surgery. I'm planning on making somekind of a basket with all kinds of goodies. I'd like to keep the item prices low so I can FILL the basket. I'm 26 and love to color still...LOL. Do you think coloring books would be stupid to her?
--------------------
I don't think one coloring book would hurt...try to find a cute Bratz one. You could also put in a cheap sketch book and some colored pencils. Drawing is a good way to spend your time. If you have some appropriate music, maybe you could make her a CD. A lot of girls that age like pop music and it would cheer her up and take her mind off of everything. I'm sure you will do fine, though, you sound like such a good person for doing this.

"Gift" for someone after having a miscarriage?

A co-worker of mine had a miscarriage at Christmas time, then a d&c a few weeks later. She is having a really rough time and I would like to get her something. She's having a really hard time sleeping. I'd hate to call it a gift, but that's kind of what I'm looking for. I was thinking of a basket with some candles, chamomile tea, lotion. What else could I put in the basket that would help her out at this time?
--------------------
what about a gift certificate for a hair dresser , a manicure, pedicure or other such spa treatment? It would be something that would focus on HER & helping her to feel better about herself

Sympathy gift and funeral etiquette?

Please forgive my lack of tact/knowledge in this area. I've never had to deal with this situation before, and I really need advice. Someone from our church recently lost a spouse. We're invited to the visitation and the service. I don't know anything about proper etiquette in terms of sympathy gifts/flowers/food, etc. The death occurred yesterday, the visitation is tomorrow, and the service is on Thursday, so I don't have much time to figure this out. The family is in mourning, and to my knowledge no one has heard yet whether they need help preparing meals or have requested charitable donations in lieu of flowers or anything in that regard. I'd like to do someone to show my acknowledgment of the family's pain and to help them in any way I can. Please tell me what is appropriate. Do I send gifts to the funeral home or to the family's home? Is it inappropriate to bring a gift to the visitation tomorrow? I'd rather not send flowers - something more helpful, like maybe a food basket. I'd really like to cook for them if I can, but I just don't know what to do. I've never attended a visitation in my adult life - please let me know when/how/where it is appropriate to send something. Btw, this is a protestant, Christian church, family and service. Thank you very much.
--------------------
You don't bring a gift to the funeral home. You just show up, sign the guest register (so they can send out thank-you cards later), speak with the relatives, and if you feel comfortable, you can view the body. You should send a sympathy card right away addressed to the people's home, not the funeral home. As far as food and cooking for them, it depends how close you are to them. If you are very close, you can cook them a dish and bring it over. I think the best thing to do would be: send a card, show up at the funeral home.
