will this make me look obsessed with him?

ok, so i am a cheerleader, and every year we adopt a basketball player to give a snack or something for every home game that they play in. the guy that my bff and i both like is in basket ball. i have to choose someone to give a gift to. i have not ever told him i liked him, my friend makes it so obvious and everything, she rubs against him, and i get discusted. i get all blushy and everything when I'm around him. and i don't want to look like an obsessive freak like my friend... . . . . . . . . . . . . should i choose him as my secret brother or not? please give me your opinion.

Scenario AnalysisIn this assignment you are required to apply Fuller’s Principle, as cited above, and respond?

Scenario Analysis Lon L. Fuller, then Carter Professor of Jurisprudence at Harvard Law School, observed in The Morality of Law, "Even if a man is answerable only to his conscience, he will answer more responsibly if he is compelled to articulate principles on which he acts." Source: Lon L. Fuller, The Morality of Law (New Haven, Conn.: Yale University Press, 1975), p. 159. Assignment: In this assignment you are required to apply Fuller's Principle, as cited above, and respond to three real-life scenarios regarding ethical decision making within the field of criminal justice and policing. In considering each of the three scenarios, you are asked to respond to the following four questions: Is there a moral problem presented in the scenario? If so, what is it? Does policy or law dictate an appropriate response, or does it require that professional discretion be applied? What criteria (considerations), principles and consequences should guide your decision? What would you do? Articulate, justify and defend your position. First, read each scenario. Second, analyze the ethical dilemma within the context of the four questions specified above. Third respond in writing to the each of the four questions. Each essay response should be brief, not more than one page. The entire paper should be two to four pages in length. You may use references to support your responses, but the essays responses must be original. Scenario 1 - Drugs at a Friend's House You are an off duty police officer at a party at the house of an old high school friend. Everyone is still in the backyard drinking. You go into the house to use the restroom and observe several of your buddy's friends (whom you do not know) snorting cocaine. You do not know whether or not your friend has knowledge that people are using drugs in his house. Scenario 2 - Accepting a Gift It is the day before Christmas and you are a community policing officer. An owner of a small market has been friendly to you throughout the year and has participated faithfully in community crime prevention meetings. He calls you behind the counter and gives you a fruit basket for your family and a Christmas card with a $30 gift certificate as an expression of his appreciation. Scenario 3 - Homosexual Partner You are a supervisor on a medium-size police department. Office Ted Jones is an excellent officer and has been on the force for sixteen years. He is also a homosexual and hangs out at a known gay bar in his off-time. You have two person patrols and Jones was recently teamed with Officer James Davis. Officer Davis comes to you and asks to be assigned to another partner because Jones is a homosexual.

how to suprise him with tickets? ?

i am making my bf a red sox basket for valentines day and the big part of his gift is tickets to a home game against the yankees.. unfortunatly i got an email this morning from the ticket agency saying the tickets will be mailed out in march (its an april game) so i wont have them for valentines day... originally i was gunna put the tickets in the valentines day card but i want to do something creative since i wont have the actual ticket... any ideas? all i could come up with is: 1. printing out a seating chart of fenway park and putting an X on the section we are sitting in and writing "you will be here" and writing the game info on the seating chart 2. printing out a "calender" for the month of april and writing silly things each day like "tell jenn you love her, take jenn out to dinner" etc on each day but on the day of the game write "go to fenway park because you have tickets to the game" anyone have any good ideas?

Present to Bride from bridesmaid/future sister in law?

So my brother's fiance (the bride to be) asked me to be her bridesmaid. I of course said yes! It will be my first time being a bridesmaid. But I am not sure what to get her now for -Bachelorette Party her matron of honor plans to have for her -Bridal Party -Wedding gift for my brother and sister-in-law So far it is still a year and 2 months away but I need to save up money...I have a small list of things I could get them...but I don't know if it will be appropriate -a gift set (guest book, pen, cake serving set, engraved toasting flutes, flower basket, ringbearer pillow, garten) -survival kit (groom, wedding, bridesmaid) -lingerie - problem with this, it's kinda awkward to buy lingerie for your sister in law for your brother (ewwww is all i can say) But I dunno, it doesn't seem right to get her the bridal/bachelorette gifts AND what not. Please help me figure out what to get -my brother and sister in law for their wedding present -my future sister in law's bachelorette party present -my future sister in law's bridal party present And if possible, WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO AS A BRIDESMAID? (BRIDESMAID DRESSES, SHOES, JEWELRY, DUTIES, ETC)
--------------------
Congrats! But you're sort of complicating this. There are only 2 gifts you'd get: one for the bridal shower (assuming she has one) and then a wedding gift. The bachelorette is just a party, and in most cases, everyone pays for themselves and chips in to cover the bride's cost. For gifts, she'll probably have a registry and you can pick from that. Don't go broke over it, just spend whatever you can afford. You're probably going to be buying your own dress, shoes, etc. so if money is tight, just budget carefully. But the gifts you listed in the gift set are usually things the bride gets herself - you'd be buying items for their house, kitchen stuff, towels, etc And for duties, it won't be a lot. Just wait to hear from the bride and what she wants. She might want you to look at bridesmaid dresses, maybe help her pick her own dress, etc. The main duty is you help plan the shower and then you show up at the wedding!

Good Animes to Watch?

Please don't say.... -Fruits Basket -Bleach -Naruto They are all so popular and I've already watched or read those. I've watched a lot of other animes too, so I might have already seen what you might reccomend. I'm looking for something romantic, humourous if possible like.... Lovely Complex, Ranma 1/2. Or something interesting but romantic like Boku wa Imouto Koi wo Suru, Gift Eternal Rainbow. I'm not looking for mangas right now, just animes I can watch off of veoh. Thank you!

BABY SHOWER packaging?

I am having trouble with finding a cute way to package or present my gift for a friends baby shower. I want to make a basket out of towels or blankets. (like towel origami or towel animals ) In the towel basket I want to put all the bath and baby products that I have gotten for her. so far i have gotten johnson and johnson products, 4 outfits, baby blankets, soft towels, diapers and baby wipes, and a couple of those pacifiers that close when they drop. I am putting the outfits, socks and diapers into a diaper cake kind of like this one : http://danvene.com/albums/julia/Diaper_c… now i want to find a cute way for all the other stuff (bath and baby products).
--------------------
You might want to go on Ebay or Amazon and see if you can find that book at a discount....you sound like a crafty soul who would find a lot of uses for a book like that!! I don't do origami.....but I think that you could mess around with towels you have around your house and figure out a way to get a basket that you are wanting. OR you could pick up some diaper pins (and cheat a little) and make a basket out of those towels without having to know all the little folds and tucks!!! I think your gifts will be a big hit.....

What should I get my secretary for Christmas this year?

My secretary is good, not great, but OK. She always gives me a gift each year for x-mas (ornament or some desk item - paperweight, trinket etc...). A $10-$15 gift. I'm not into giving gifts but have felt obligated since the first time she gave me a gift and I didn't have one for her. Two years ago I gave her a gardening set (she's into growing flowers) and last year I had my wife get a shampoo, bath, etc... basket from Bed Bath and Beyond. I don't think the last gift went over too well (maybe a little too personal?). I don't know any other of her hobbies. She's not real open about her personal life. Anyway I need some new ideas $20-$30 price range.
--------------------
A basket with gardening gloves, mini gardening tools, hand lotion, bird feeder, plant markers, mini indoor herb kits, garden rocks, lawn ornaments, wind chimes and a note like - hope the new year grows well on you or something. Or a very nice window adornment like a stain glass one (Hallmark). A nice card and gift card at a nice restaurant even. Good luck

making a Method cleaning products gift basket for a wedding- any suggestions?

my cousin is getting married and since i'm obsessed with Method products, i would like to make a gift basket to give them on their wedding day. they are buying a new house shortly after and what better way to celebrate than with a CLEAN house?! do you have any suggestions for what i should include? i'm thinking all surface cleaner, lil bowl blu, le scrub bathroom cleaner, and tub n tile bathroom cleaner. the only thing is that they are moving to florida, so it will be a warmer drive. do you think these products will last long enough for a 16 hour drive? this is why i'm avoiding including air fresheners and candles, etc
--------------------
This is a thoughtful gift, but with the liquids they may spill out and would add weight to the car. Maybe purchasing only a few of the items and then add the things they will need to go with them. If you did a basket for the kitchen and put dish soap and surface cleaner with some kitchen towels and some wash cloths. If you did a bathroom basket, tub n tile cleaner, a scrub brush and rubber gloves, you can even put it in a pretty wash bucket or one of the plastic carry all things.

Would you want to receive this gift? ...give this gift?

I'm about to move forward with my healthy gourmet gift basket business, and I'd like to know your thoughts - do I have a market? A fine selection of the following for eg.: tea, coffee, cookies, chocolates, all the pantry ingredients ie rice, beans, spices, sauces to make an Italian, Indian or Mexican meal, honey, pickles, antipasto, dried fruit, nuts - the selection goes on.... upon inspection you realize that all these goodies are all healthy -either low g.i., easy and slow to digest/process, gluten free, organic, sugar free, high protein, high fibre, low fat - whatever combo supports your healthy lifestyle. Your gift may also come with spa goodies, fruit, wine or gift certicates for in home services ie: cleaning co., mani pedi spa services, hair wash and set, btw: I'd like to offer useful containers ie: trays, boxes, bowls, hat boxes, decorative storage containers, white cake box towers and tote bags instead of the traditional baskets with the handles. What do you think? Would you want to receive this gift, give this gift? Your comments are appreciated. Thank you!
--------------------
Sounds good. Worth remembering, is that people who need to be gluten free often also have difficulty with make-up, toiletries and so on that contain gluten. Though your containers may be useful, it may be difficult to also make them attractive. And a basket can be useful afterwards, anyway.

Any suggestions for a great gift for my boyfriend's family?

I will not be spending the holidays with them but I would love to give my boyfriend something to bring from me when they have their holiday dinner. Also, I would rather get something for everyone rather than an individual gift for each person. The mom doesn't drink, so wine is out. The mom is also an amazing cook (she makes everything from scratch), so any entree or dessert I get will probably be worse than what she made for dinner. They are quite health-conscious too so typical holiday gift baskets of chocolates and cheeses will probably go untouched. I was thinking - a gift basket with some candles, fruit - what else? Or any other ideas rather than a gift basket would be appreciated too. Thank you! The family consists of the mom and 2 siblings in their 30s.
--------------------
What about a cookbook software program? The Mom could organize and print all her wonderful recipes and then give copies to the kids. A collection of board games, maybe 3 or 4 that they could play after dinner and at future get togethers. If you have pictures of them you could get each of them a digital picture ornament with family photos loaded into it. http://www.firststreetonline.com/product… If you are wanting to do the gift basket you can get some ideas here or just order one from them... http://www.wellbaskets.com/index.html http://www.gourmetgiftbaskets.com/Health… http://www.thehealthybasket.com/ Hope this helps. What should I put in a gift basket?

My friend's birthday is coming up in July. She will be 14. I know it is a little early but I like to be in good time. I will be giving her a gift basket and I have chosen a colour scheme of lime green and shocking pink. I will line the basket with a fabric of one of these colours. I have already bought some pink soap (that smells of pomegranate) and a green notebook. Please help me think of more small gifts to put in the gift basket! Thank you for your help. xxx Please note: My friend is not obsessed with make-up!!!!
--------------------
a throw away camera would be nice, since it'll be her b'day! you could get the travel size lotion & put in, pony tail holders or a comb, a funky pen to go w/ her notebook, nail polish, gum, temporary tattoos, her favorite candy, a couple of fake flowers, a cupcake, a framed picture of the two of you (you can get neat frames at the dollar stores, and print the pic yourself on your computer), just think of what she likes. she's lucky to have such a dear friend as you!

What about a beer assortment? Go to a specialty store like Whole Foods, they have such an interesting variety. And for even more fun why not find a recipe for beer bread and bag some of the dry ingredients up, stick a card in there with instructions and then he can make his own. Trust me it's easy, my 3 year old can do it and no I don't let her taste it till it's baked! Women always love pedicures!

Christmas Gift Basket!?

I am making a gift basket for my father-in-law and was wondering if it would be ok to start buying hard chocolates and caramel popcorn and assortments to go in the gift basket?
--------------------
I think that gift baskets are such a good gift, b/c you can personalize them as much as you want. Last year I made my grandmother one, at the time she was going through chemo, and didn't do a lot but stay at home, so i put teas, a mug, her favorite candy, crosswords, stuff to keep her mind busy, i also put it in a really neat basket that she had re-used. I think if he likes chocolate and popcorn go for it.

Hawaiian (specifically Oahu) Gift Basket?

My sister is going to Oahu right after her birthday and I was thinking of making her a Hawaiian Survival Gift basket. Do you guys have any ideas of small things I could put in it? (please note I'm on a budget) Thanks!
--------------------
I have fair skin and when I went to Hawaii the most important thing I packed was sunscreen. You can also give her a bottle of aloe in case she does burn, it soothes and cools the skin and helps it heal. Also, since she will probably take lots of pictures, why not give her disc for her digital camera so she can download the pictures when she gets back, or a small photo album if she prints out her pictures.

What's a Cool Thing for a Company to Give an Employee for their Wedding Present?

My company is trying to come up with a unique standard gift idea (as opposed to flowers or a fruit basket) for employee's when they get married. Our budget is only about $100 so we can't give employees an extra week off or anything overly extravagant. It also needs to be appropriate for people who are either getting married locally or at a destination (i.e. someone suggested paying for the use of a limo for a day, but a lot of people are choosing destination weddings these days so a limo wouldn't work for them). If you have any ideas I'd be most appreciative!
--------------------
My company / coworkers gave my husband and I a $100 gift card to a home improvement store as a wedding gift. It was AWESOME! We could pick from new paint for the living room, a new microwave, stuff for the yard - it was great! We eneded up putting the gift card towards a new fridge, (which we LOVE). Even if you're not a homeowner, you'll find something you can't live without at a home improvement store.

What should i buy my bf for his birthday?

Okay so my bf is turning 21...which he is so excited since he is legal not only to drink but also to gamble.... if i was packing with money i would send him to a trip to las vegas lol but i wanted to do something different for him since its his special day..especially since he is 21.... well i was thinking about going really early to his house (5am) and waking him up with a bday cake and a little gift...i always had the idea of buying a basket and putting there lil stuff that can make it special... i have a few lil things in mind that he likes...what else can i but in there? or what are some other good ideas?? i know this sounds cheezee lol but i know he would like it since he will NEVER imagine me doing this...he would never expect this from me...

If he likes to drink and gamble maybe you can put a couple of those little mini bottles of liquor and a poker set. Think of some other things he likes and add them to the basket also. I would also recommend making him a Birthday card and writing a long letter on it about how you feel about him. Anyway, good luck

Fitted sheet for baby's crib?

Right now my son is sleeping in his Moses basket, but I'm trying to figure out this problem with the sheets for his crib before I put him in the crib. I bought a package safari deal for my son's crib that included a fitted sheet, blanket and bumper pads. I had to literally bend the mattress in order to get the sheet on and the mattress pad doesn't fit with that sheet. A different sheet (that I received as a shower gift) fits on the mattress and with that sheet I am also able to put the mattress pad on it. My question is this...should the crib mattress have to be bent in order to put the sheet on it or is a fitted sheet that is snug (without bending mattress to put it on) appropriate? Maybe I just got a really small sheet with my set. Thanks for answers.
--------------------
Hmm I mean they are tight but you don't have to bend the mattress, in fact my crib mattress has the reinforced anti-crush sides and trust me nothing would compel that to bend. However crib mattresses are a standard size. Crib pads are another story, some do not cover the whole mattress for whatever reason? Maybe they are just meant to protect the middle? Also PLEASE don't use bumper pads. Bumper pads are a hold over from when cribs were so unsafe that a baby's head could get trapped between the slats. In a modern crib the bumper is at best useless and at worst dangerous. If used as directed they are removed before the baby can roll at all, in which case they probably do nothing. However if they are left on once the baby can roll they are a suffocation/SIDS and entanglement risk. Leave them on until the baby can pull himself up and they make it easier to fall out of the crib. http://babyproducts.about.com/od/recalls… http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/cps-spc/legislati… http://www.multiplebirthsfamilies.com/ar…

Plus it was only about $40 but it looks like it could be over $100 very nice quality. They will use it too it will give them a reason to go have a romantic day in the park :] however if you don't want to do that get a basket with robes (possibly monogrammed) some massage oils, candles, wine and bath things :] that may seem like more of a woman thing but not on the honeymoon :]

I gift card to a store you know she likes is best. She might not like the jewlery you get. Books, she probably won't want them that much. Since you don't know her well, if you talk before the sleep over ask "I just went shopping at the mall yesterday. What are you r fave stores there?" Then just get her a 25-50 gift card there. Don't buy clothes or personalized gifts because one, you don't know her size, and two, you don't know her taste.

We have performed random acts of kindness from time to time, but we have not been aware of many bestowed upon us until last night. Two people we vaguely know knocked at the door and presented us with a holiday fruit basket. It wasn't much, just a small basket of mixed fruit and nuts. Taken quite by surprise, we thanked the couple, placed the basket on the table next to the door and went back to our respective chairs to watch television. My eyes kept going back to the fruit basket. What a kind, thoughtful thing to do. What had made those people give us a gift? It seemed strange that anyone would think of us. Didn't they have a party to attend or gifts to wrap? Tears came into my eyes. Everyone is needy from time to time and this gift was a way to remind us that others do care. Every gift, no matter how small, makes a huge impact on the recipient. Suddenly my world seems much brighter!

ANNE FRANK STUDY QUESTi0NS?

1.On May 1, 1943, Anne's entry takes stock of their situation. Has it improved? 2.As their first year in hiding draws to a close, two more disasters strike. Describe them. What was the source of this row? 4.How is the war progressing in the summer of 1943? 5.The daily routine of life in the annexe grinds on. The days are monotonous and seem to stretch on to infinity. What do they do this year to celebrate? 7.What do the "family" members receive at Christmas from their protectors? 8.Anne ends her third six months in hiding with an awakening maturity. What evidence of this growth is reported in her diary? 9.Has life in the Annexe changed much as the last six months begin? 10.All during the spring Anne's entries in her diary are mainly about her personal life: her first kiss, her reflections on the frictions in the group. In March there is an exchange of letters. Who are the two correspondents? What does the exchange accomplish? 11.Although Anne is not much interested in politics, one entry in March of 1944 tells about the various opinions of the group. Does anyone know where I can get personalized travel mugs that I can give as wedding favors?

I'm getting married next summer at the Sandals in St. Lucia, and we want to put baskets (or boxes or whatever) with some useful gifts for our guests in them. So far we're giving them monogrammed towels (their initials-not ours!) and small things like sunscreen, Tylenol, travel toothpaste, etc. I've heard of some people giving their guests those large hot/cold travel mugs with a short message (like Thanks for coming) and the couple's names and the wedding date on them and guests seemed to love them since it's an all-inclusive and they can take those to the bar-tenders and have them filled with whatever they'd like and then take it down to the beach or where ever. The problem is, I've heard lots of people say they could find these for around 4 or 5 bucks each and so far I haven't been able to find them for less than like 15. I've found them for cheaper if you order like 100, but we're only needing 30 or so. Anyone know of an on-line place where you can order these large personalized mugs? Or even a place where you can buy your own and then take them and have our message and such put on there?

Merry Christmas *early*, Adolescents!?

Well, I don't know if you know, but Christmas is in about 170 days. And that makes NaKeisha happy! But I do have a couple questions about Christmas . . . . 1. Why do you like Christmas? 2. What is the best food served around/on Christmas (i.e. Sugar cookies, candy canes)? 3. What should I ask for? In my family, if you want a anything present, you need to have your list in by September 1st. So I'm doing mine now. So I need a list of things under $40 that are popluar teen gifts. 4. I'm making gifts this year, and I was thinking of making baskets of homeade food. My family is very busy, and cooking is kind of hard to do some days.
--------------------
1. It's a time for all the family to get together and it's just so much fun being together (for me anyway). 2. Without a doubt the sausages rapped in bacon aha and roast tatties (: 3. Umm...well what stuff do you like? You could ask for CD's? DVD's? Games? Sorry I'm useless, I don't even know what I want - every year I ask for money haha. 4. Sounds cool (: (:

Question for moms- What did you get for your shower that was useful and what was not?

What do you wish you got more of or needed? What turned out to be worthless or only got used once? Looking for baby shower gift ideas- I have two showers come up and I bought them a gift off their registry but wanted to fill a basket full of little stuff. Both mom's plan to breast feed- so I don't think they need a ton of bottles. (Also I am anti pacifier so I don't give them.) But how many bibs and bib cloths do you need? Anything clever and use-able I can stick in there?

Little basket fillers: Baby manicure scissors (the baby nail clippers are worthless) Washclothes Disposable changing pads (clever!) Rubber ducky Breast milk storage bags Baby hair brush PBA free teething ring Qtips Usleess junk Wipe warmers Baby nail clippers Small Outfits Shoes ( a baby does not need shoes and they out grow them after one day!) My best friend just stole money from me!?

She works at the aparment complex that i live in and I got a Thanksgiving basket yesterday. There was alot of stuff in it including a gift card to walmart. I seen the wrapper to it in her purse.. I didnt want to say anything because I was so shocked. should I confront her? Or do I make her feel bad until she tells me? HELP!
--------------------
Tell her that you saw the wrapper in her purse and you want to know why it was in there and you are hurt. Ask her why she did it and then determine as to whether or not you can still be her friend after that. If she denies the wrapper being in her purse after you saw it with your own eyes, please cut off all contact. It is evident that she thinks you are stupid and small and will continue to abuse your gift of friendship.

Premauture Easter Question ?

what are some good gift ideas for a teenage boy (16).He is too old for a basket .Usually I give him $25.00 in either cash or a gift cards and so does my mom . but this year thought maybe something different.Thank you "NO HE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN THE EASTER BUNNY"
--------------------
my eldest is 19, he is not too old for a basket, I am 41 and I am not too old for a basket, you could put a gift card to his favorite store in it, you could use dollar bills as the grass. I also have a 17 and 14 year old son they love their baskets, lol my husband loves one too. think of what you would put in it if he was younger and then mature it up a bit , it's fun, also you do not have to use a traditional "basket" use something he will reuse, a video game holder, a large tin, i am sure you can think of something unique

is this a good idea for valentines day?

i'm a student and i don't have a lot of spare money, but i want to make valentines day really special for my boyfriend this year. i love to cook, and i was thinking of getting a basket and putting the ingredients for his favourite meal in it, and then giving it to him as his gift and making the dinner for him. in the basket i plan to hide little notes and surprises like heart shaped cookies and train tickets to our favourite place to visit. my question is, would you like to recieve this gift? do you think it is a good idea? or could you think of anything better? suggestions are welcome, help me please!
--------------------
I think you should make the meal instead of putting it in a basket cus then your kind of like grabbing the basket back from him unless you two make it together, i think you should give him the menu in the basket for dinner and whatever else you wanted in it like the cookies and train ticket but yes its a good idea :)

Help what do i get my bf for his birthday??

Please help, I'm really stuck on what to get. His birthday and x-mas are 14 days apart so I was thinking of getting a big basket or nice bag and fill it with stuff and make it a birthday and xmas gift in one, but I don't know what kind of things to fill it with… We've been going out over two years now and he one of those people who has money and if he wants something he gets it himself. So if you have any ideas, in would be a big help. Guys what kind of things would you like to get?
--------------------
Does he have a play station or Xbox? Then get him some games. If he's into sports, get 2 game tickets and give him a treat! My g.f. gave me a spa treatment with 2 different types of message, a facial, a menicure with sauna for the two of us. It did sound quiet feminine at first, but it was the best most relaxing gift that I've ever had. And yes, even if he has plenty of money, being a guy, I'll tell you that he would never get this himself.

what do you do for easter ritual?

what is your ritual on easter? i will get up with my 3 yr old son and 11 yr old daughter and we will go outside and they will hunt for the eggs scattered in the yard(they have candy, money and such in them) then my 11 yr old daughter will have to find her easter basket hidden in the house(son is too young for this, he will have his easter basket right on the stove)in the easter basket for my daughter will be 2 webkinz , choc bunny, etc and for my son he will have diego bubbles, thomas the train easter gift set of trains, candy, choc bunny in his basket
--------------------
I leave little piles of "bunny poo" to prove the Easter Bunny was there. Along with the typical portions of whole carrots with the leafy green tops with bites taken from them by the front door and in the yard. The "bunny poo" is further proof and it is said the finder is lucky. We make it out of baby carrots and raisins. I don't know how it came about and we have been doing it as long as I can remember. My 15 year old still looks for it. At Christmas we leave Santa wine and cheese instead of milk and cookies and we hang York Peppermint Patties from hooks on the tree. The York's come from when my hubby and I were first married we were so broke we had one bulb ornament and a string of lights. To decorate that first tree I used the candies. And we have made a point to do it again every year, 18 of them, no matter how our fortunes have changed.

Any ideas for holiday gifts for referring offices?

I work in a specialty dental office and we give gift each year to our referring offices. We're trying to be different and not do the cookie/candy/food gift baskets and towers. We've done candles, soaps and silk floral arrangements. Any other great ideas out there?
--------------------
Have you tried tea and coffee gift baskets? During the winter months a great deal of people have a cold, so these types of gift baskets really would help the office. Enjoying a relaxing cup of tea is amazing at alleviating cold symptoms, and having a cold while you're working is not so fun. Take a look: http://www.bisketbaskets.com/teacogiba.html Hope you find what you're looking for!

Items for food gift basket? Unique chocolate items?

What does everyone recommend for items in a food styled gift basket? The recipient enjoys chocolate. I was trying to think of some unique chocolate items that I could find online - some the recipient has never seen or heard of. Any ideas?
--------------------
I love chocolate, and this is what I would love to see in my basket: I like to bake so I would like to see a variety of baking cocoas (the powdered stuff)...Dutch processed, an organic, something exotic that you would find at a specialty chocolate site, perhaps. Maybe some chocolate cookies - like chocolate biscotti, specialty chocolate cookies, perhaps even a chocolate cookie mix that I could bake up. Chocolate bars for sure. The number one domestic is Dove...and Ghirardelli is excellent. The varieties would depend on the person. I truthfully only like the milk, and do not like dark. I know! However a true chocolate aficionado would most probably love getting a variety of cacao percentages. I have also seen the Ritter Sport bars with lots of varieties.... And then of course there is cocoa mix. Ghirardelli has some excellent varieties, and you could even put in mocha, chi, whatever....maybe the pot or a cup...You know I am not mentioning ALL of this in one basket..just loads of options. My last idea is specialty chocolates. Charles Chocolates in Emeryville, CA has the best! Oh my goodness they are to die for! The caramels are awesome too. There is another shop in Berkeley, not far from Charles' on College and it too has specialty chocolates like Charles. I have yet to sample them, but when I get rich I will be there! :) You are a pretty special person to think of such a great gift. I hope they enjoy your effort.

Anyone knows a trustworthy quality online gift basket shop?

I miss my bestfriend, we've been friends since we were 8 and now we're both 20. We've shared too many moments ( as you can imagine) and were always tied together in life. Unfortunately, i'm in college in Florida and she's in New York. IT seems like 2009 hasn't been her year at all, and even though i've tried and been trying to cheer her up ( letter by mail, pictures, phone calls, etc) She's happier but not really the girl i know. I remembered she loves gift baskets, and i was wondering if anyone knew a good website out there that will deliver to her. Do you think it's a bad idea? What would you do?

Gift basket for expecting mother?

I want to send my sister a gift basket every month while she is pregnant. I have never been pregnant, so I have no idea what to get her each month. Something mostly for her, not the baby yet. That will be her gift at the shower. Right now she is 3 1/2 months. I don't want to ask what she wants. I want her to be surprised. For women out their who have been or are pregnant, what would you really enjoy at 4,5,6,7,8, or 9 months? Something small enough to mail that is not too expensive please. Thanks for the help!
--------------------
Lots of belly cream! Comfy PJ's, slippers, a cute maternity top, preggie pops, a relaxing candle, a good foot moisturizer, a food (like chocolate or candy) that she might be craving, the list goes on and on. Anything that will pamper her during her pregnant months.

What else should I put in a gift basket?

We are doing a white elephant Christmas on both sides of my family. Our gifts are going to be between 20-25 dollars and something that they can actually use/enjoy. I decided to make gift baskets for all of the Christmas'...4 baskets (me and spouse). I am doing a TX Longhorn basket (all fans), a movie basket (blockbuster gift card, popcorn ect), a sports movie basket (sports movie, popcorn, sodas, candy, pretzels, dip mixes) and a chick flick movie basket. I am having trouble with the chick flick basket. I am going to buy a romance movie, put tissues and chocolate in the basket, but what else can I put? I need about 2 or 3 more things. Any suggestions are appreciated!! And you can also suggest ideas for the other basket if you would like! Thanks!
--------------------
Nail polishes or face mask cream stuff. Maybe slippers. Go to bath and body they have good sales and you can put little creams or face stuff in it as well.

I want to send my dad some sort of gift basket for Father's Day, any ideas?

Edible Arrangements were too expensive.
--------------------
Far cheaper to put together your own basket than to order one online or from a florist. I would put in a currently popular dvd, some treats you know he loves, or else a car wash "bucket" basket, with a nice sponge, some chamois cloths, car wax, etc inside!

A few questions, what do you think?

1st question: For my maid of honor's gift, I was thinking about making her a basket full of nice things like face masks, lotion, beauty products. Is that too inpersonal? 2nd question: We recently decided to get married in the catholic church, 5 weeks before the wedding. Now we have to take classes in a hurry and we found someone willing to do it in a day. Should we offer this person a gift? 3rd question: Do I have to have an aisle runner? I dont want one, what are they even for besides decoration? Lastly, If the Catholic church does not allow The Wedding March, what song do I walk down the aisle to? Thank you very much
--------------------
1. That is not too impersonal. 2. Yes! My fiance and I spent 3 months doing that; 2 full days NFP and 1 full day retreat in addition to meetings. 3. NO. We met with our Priest last night, and he said insurance doesn't like aisle runners b/c somewhere someone got hurt. He said it's okay, but we are not having one. 4. The Wedding March, they don't even get married in he song. Go here: Pachelbel is a great one! http://www.sfstrings.com/repertoireweddi…

When you've been dating a guy for less than 3 months, is it dumb to...?

give a nice fruit basket as a Valentine's Day gift? He told me in passing one day that he has 5 watches laying around the house that need batteries, I think that wallets are too overdone, and I was going to bake him some chocolate cupcakes from scratch with a maraschino cherry icing recipe I have, but looking at my schedule I doubt I'll have time this week to bake anything and he's trying to watch what he eats anyways. So, honestly, what do you think, dumb or not? Thanks and Happy Valentine's Day!

My husbands family does not treat our daughter equally?

They treat his daughter from his previous marriage much better than our daughter. They do this from the way they talk to her to the gifts that they give. For easter they gave his daughter a big easter basket filled with stuffed animals, candy and money. They gave our daughter a shirt that his Mom bought at an after Christmas sale that she said our daughter could wear next year. I am afraid that this will really hurt my daughters feelings as she gets older. Should I say something? What should I do?
--------------------
yes, you AND hubby should say something to his folks. Let them know how obvious it is and that your child isn't stupid and she'll catch on pretty quick. Use the Easter example but try not to let this escalate as they may get defensive pretty quickly. Help them understand that you're trying to understand the disparity. Hubby should ask his folks -not you - the big question, WHY? they may not like you as much as his other daughter's mom. If you don't get a satisfactory answer, you 2 should consider limiting your child's time with these grandparents. They could give her a serious inferiority complex.

Dad: I would make a gift basket. Include his favorite coffee beans, creamer, sugar, nice mug, maybe flavored liquor like baileys, flavored coffee, etc. Younger Brother: I would play it safe and get a gift card for clothing store, game store, etc. unless you want to get into alot of money with a spoiled 15 year old!! Or even a gift basket for a romantic stay at home dinner. Maybe include dry pasta, sauce jar, loaf of fancy bread, wine, and a candle or a few candles. Maybe even add a nice tablecloth to line the basket. Best Friend/ Cousin: Im a fan of gift baskets... I would include some momentos if she is moving far. Maybe a framed picture of the 2 of you, or something that would signify something you like to do together. And the obvious godiva chocolate... im a 20yr old male. i was hanging out at my friends house. he was telling me he saw this gift card laying at the top of a garbage basket. his sister got one of those gift cards to Victoria's secret for a free panty. well he dared me to go in the store and use it. i was like whats in it for me? he told me id get a free panty, i said so?? then he said how about $20. i just don't understand the idea behind the bet? why does he want me to do this so bad? should i do it?

Why are you asking? Its an easy $20. And the Victoria's Secret employees would just think you're buying something for your gf.

What an idiot, go for it. Vicorias secret personnel are very friendly, and aren't judgmental at all. Plus, you'll get 20 bucks out of the bet. For some stupid reason guys are embarrassed to be seen in such a sexy and racy store. Its taboo for the male species. Go ahead and do it, it's no big deal.

Why aren't the bees focusing on my flowers?

I have a good sized porch in a condo that I recently bought. I love flowers and have several potted plants out here..I plan on getting several more... One of the pots contains a variety of bright yellow flowers, pink flowers....I dont know what kind of flowers they are, my mom and little sister made the basket for me as a mothers day gift (even though I'm not a mommy yet - it was so nice of them)...I also have another pot with beautiful purple flowers in it (again, dont know what they're called - aunt gave them to me as a birthday gift)... Theres a tun of bees flying around my porch. I dont really mind it too much, they're not being a bother to me.... but I'm wondering why they're buzzing around the gutters (hopefully not to make a nest)....and I never see them on any of the flowers. Dont the bees help the flowers grow better?
--------------------
Only honey bees and some bumble bees pollinate flowers. The wasps, hornets, yellow-jackets, etc are pests, not pollinators. Even some bumble bees are pests because they eat wood, rather than nectar.

What would you put in a "Reading and Writing" theme basket..Other than books pens/pencils?

my sons school is having a silent auction and his class theme is "reading and writing". what we are doing is putting together a basket for this theme and the better the basket appeals the more money we will raise for the PTA Here are some of the items we have:notebooks;reading books;crayons;color pencils ;letter flash cards;magnet letters;letter bingo;pencil grips;pencils;pens;binders;erasers;sharp… light;book mark's;highlighters;composition books;activity books and book store gift cards i would like to know if any one has any more ideas that will allso go with this theme
--------------------
Snacks to munch on while reading. A diary to keep track of what you are reading. Your basket seems pointed towards elementary school children - with crayons and flash cards, etc. Have you thought about something for adults instead? Bookmarks A neck pillow to use while sitting up in bed reading, or in a car.

Present for bridal shower?

I am going to my cousin-in-law's bridal shower in a few weeks and am looking for some gift ideas. We don't have a lot of money right now and everything on her registries seems to be $50 and up; all the cheaper items are things you would have to buy multiples of (wine glasses, napkin holders, etc). Any suggestions for a limited budget? She sent a bath basket to my shower via her mom (she didn't attend) and didn't give us any wedding present even though she is in her mid 20's and brought a guest. I'm not her biggest fan but for the sake of my husband and mother in law would like to find a considerate, inexpensive gift that doesn't look cheap.
--------------------
Using her registry as a color guide: Large plastic mixing bowl Asst kitchen utensils Pot holders Kitchen towels Candles - found some at Freds that were fruit/herb blends I did this for my niece, adding muffin and brownie mixes and her two favorites - mac & cheese and english peas. A nice cookbook w/ a personal note written inside the cover, along w/ the above goodies would be nice, too. Or, fix them a movie nite set: Large ceramic mixing bowl Movie butter microwave popcorn Popcorn spices Movie rental gift card (enough for 1 or 2 movies) Throw blanket for snuggling Toss in a set of mugs and cocoa mix or stemless wine glasses (can be found, plain ones, at pier one for around 3 bucks) and a cheap bottle of wine. Or, go fun - get them an ice cream maker or shaved ice machine! Most all of this can be found at your nearest wal-mart, target, freds or dollar general (excepting the stemless glasses and the wine - unless you go w/ Wild Vines, which is good and you get it at wal-mart for about $4)

What are some ideas for a homemade Mother's Day basket~besides a card & flowers, when mom is diabetic???

My mom is diabetic, and she really don't do much or really needs anything. I am clueless about what to get her for Mother's Day, but I was thinking about making her a homemade basket with some goodies in it... In the meantime I started a little project with my kids & nephews~~planting flower seeds and decorating the pots etc.. and a homemade card with pictures etc... What would be good to put inside the basket when the person you're giving it too don't need anything, is really not into anything- can't eat chocolate...Don't lit candles, don't do home spas etc... LOL- NO JOKE....She has almost everything...lol... Her house is like a store...lol... I need some ideas of what should I buy... I can buy perfumes because she never get tired of those, I would get her a bottle of wine- but she doesn't drink... I don't want to give her a gift card because that looks ridiculus and it'll mean more if I get something myself.... Any help would be appreaciated... Thanks...
--------------------
Buy some kind of platter, don't spend much since she has everything, a round pizza pan will do, and get a set of towels, in her favorite color, large bath, small bath, hand towel and wash cloth. roll them up, large on on the bottom, smaller one in the middle, roll the small 2 up together, make it like a cake. you can add things around it, or just decorations, one time i pinned little aplique bitterflies, wrapped it in tulle, it doesn't even cost much. go here and look http://www.thinkwedding.com/Art-Wedding_… there are some ideas.if not can you get her an outfit, or go out with her. your mom seems practical, like my mom, they are so hard, mu mother asked for filters for her ice maker in her fridge : )

Would This Be Good For a Toddler Easter Basket?

I have a 2-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son. In their Easter baskets, I like to put more than just candy. I was thinking of giving them each one of these. http://www.gifts.com/search/product/Nyok… Do you think they would understand it? They are pretty advanced for their age I would say. What do you think? Of course they will get plenty of other more kid-friendly things.
--------------------
Thats a cute idea and no a two year old is not to young for these. It will help them learn a new skill and most kids love doing these kind of things... especially if it makes them feel older/bigger doing something like that.

will my pastor and his wife like the gifts i got them for christmas? what do you think?

i got her a cd devotional that has 5 cds and has stories with the devotions. it is meant for busy christian women. i got him a small cross from jerusalem, hand carved. and then, i found an ornament that was 20 dollars, hand crafted and it says the best gift was given on a tree, it has a christmas tree and a cross on it. then they personalized it free for me. i am putting them all together in a christmas basket, using cotton balls for snow to set the presents on then i will put some basket wrap on it, christmas of course, and then put some ribbon and bows on it. do you think they will like it?
--------------------
They will love it because you can tell just by reading your description that alot of thought and love went into getting the gift. Merry Christmas!

Is my child gifted?

I hear all the time that my daughter is "so smart" and she just blows me away sometimes, but I don't know if she's just advanced for her age, or if she's really gifted. She is 16 months and says more words than I can count at this point, and knows what every animal I can think of says, uses some 2 word sentances, solves brand new wooden puzzles within minutes, she knows when she sees the colours black, red, blue, green and yellow. She counts 1,2. She knows her body parts. She talks all day and tells her toys when she's putting them in her buckets or baskets. She will sit and look at books (and point out everything in them) for hours. I just wonder because I also have an 18 month old boy who I babysit and he doesn't talk, or have any interest in puzzles, reading or games. I don't know whether to know if he has a learning problem either...
--------------------
Child development is as individual as every child is. There are certainly "milestones" and "averages", but there are always children who develop more quickly and some that are slower. At 16 months, your daughter's language would be considered advanced, but is not necessarily unusual. My middle daughter developed language early and spoke in sentences at 14 months. Some children are indeed "gifted", but it would be a bit too soon to reliably use this term with your daughter. Everyone, children and adults alike, have a preferred style of learning. Your daughter's style of cognitive learning is likely active experimentation which lends itself well to learning quickly as a toddler. On the other hand, the 18 month old you care for is likely developing at exactly the speed that is right for his individual needs. He may very well be more of a reflective observer. He is learning, but in a different way than your daughter. It is hard not to do so, but comparing development of children of similar ages is going to usually show some glaring differences. Much goes on in the growth and development of a child in his/her first 5 years of life. If a child speaks early or walks early or knows their alphabet by the time they are 2, it is most likely that by first grade you would not know the difference between her and a child who didn't walk until 18 months or speak until 2 or know his alphabet until kindergarten.

What are good gifts to put in a 7 month old's first Easter basket?

My daughter is a little over 7 months old and loves to crawl all over the place. She also likes to grab onto the coffee table and pull herself up and then grab everything she can...but anyways, I was thinking of getting some crawling toys and some books with sounds, different textures and bright colors, maybe some of those Gerber puffs (since she has 4 teeth and "chews" and picks up food with her thumb and first finger and puts it in her mouth). So are these good ideas; anything else that could go in her Easter basket? Also, I know that she won't remember this, but my hubby and I will and we intend to take pics and put them in her photo album.... Thanks!
--------------------
Im having the same problem! i have 2 other girls and they are so much easier! So far I have bought my 7 month old some bath toys including this really cute pastel pink rubber ducky that looks really eastery, gerber puffs, a new sippy cup cause she loves to steal her 23 month old sisters cup, stuffed bunny, bunny ears and some new pacifiers but thats where i am stuck! between her and her sister we have every type of baby toy out there and 10000s of books! trying to find something that will stop her from pulling up on the tv stand lol that would make a good easter present!

I was invited to a bridal shower and wedding for a neighbor but have no idea what to buy. They have lived together for years so their registry is basically nonexistent. For the wedding we are just going to give money. Just need to know whats a good idea for a bridal shower gift. We have only lived in the neighborhood a year so I don't know her that well our kids ride bikes together we wave as we pass by so really don't know what she is in to...is a basket with lotions, candles, bubble bath good?!

How long can i leave fryer basket in oil pot?

I just got as an early Christmas gift of a deep fryer. I know from reading the user guide and other information on the Internet that it is perfectly acceptable to leave fryer oil in the new fryer for extended periods of time. At least until it looks like it needs to be filtered. Particularly if i am primarily doing french fries in it. But, my question is the fryer basket, can i just leave it soaking in the cold oil all the time? or does it need to be washed every time I use the fryer?
--------------------
You Can leave it the oil without any problems. I have had a Rival deep fryer that has a close-able lid with filter for many years. The basket's handle folds down and blends into the side of the unit for storage. I have always left the basket in the oil and never have had any problems doing that. When I filtered or change out the oil, I would then wash the baskets, and allow it to dry completely before returning it to the oil. Water in deep frying oil just don't mix and can cause bad burns from unexpected spatter. Have fun, and You'll be using it for more than just fries, I did! Use Canola oil, it's cholesterol free and has a high boil point, last a long time, and is reasonably cheap. I'm including a breaded onion ring recipe that can be used on so many different foods. My brother Bob that it is name after, past on this past July at the age of 73. Good Luck, Enjoy, & Happy Holidays! Brother Bob's Beer-Batter Onion Rings Reminiscent of Bob's Big Boy of the 1950's & 60's That My Older Brother Bob Took Me To 1¼ cups All-purpose flour 1 lrg Egg ¾ cup Beer, room temperature 2 lrg Onions, white or Spanish cut in ¼" thick slices 1 tsp Salt ½ tsp Baking soda ¼ tsp Lemon-pepper 1 tbls Canola oil Oil for deep-frying In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, lemon-pepper, baking soda, and then egg and canola oil. Gradually whisk in beer and store in refrigerator for at least 3-4 hours allowing batter to rest before using. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or deep fryer to 375ºF. Dip each onion slice into batter, shake slice slightly allowing excessive batter to drip off, and immediately place battered ring into hot oil and fry turning only once until both sides are golden brown. Serve hot. This batter works great on other vegetables like zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, ect; it also works great on thin sliced chicken breast and fish.

What are possible wedding gifts a 12 year old could make and give?

now this question isn't any old regular "what kind of wedding gift should i get?", i'm an 12 year old who got invited to my tutor's wedding and i was planning on knitting her a fruit basket, but turns out, i'm not a pro at knitting and when i "try" to knit the object, it looks like nothing :(. if anybody knows of simple fruit knitting ideas...that would be appreciated. but i'm kind of skeptical on the idea. plus, she's a really important friend so i kinda don't want like a cheesy like picture frame gift...also, her wedding is in like august, so i kinda want something possible for a 12 year old to make within the time limit of now...and august 20. so yeah..all ideas appreciated! :)
--------------------
You could make a really beautiful wedding card for them. You can go to a craft store and buy pretty ribbons and pens and design a really unique meaningful wedding card. Then, maybe give them a nice photoframe so that they can put a wedding photo in it after they're married. I think that would be really thoughtful and lovely.

Christmas gifts, for kids?

I have 3 nephews, and 2 nieces. The oldest is 9(boy), 6(girl), 4(boy), 2(boy), 1(girl). I'm not exactly sure what to get them for christmas. I'm not loaded, actually far from it. I just want to get them something that they would enjoy. I was thinking of buying a basket and throwing a bunch of things in there, like a toy, coloring book, etc... But i'm not sure if they would like that, it seems kinda cheesy. And I don't want them fighting over what's better or whatever. So please help:) Sorry, I know I'm posting a lot of christmas questions but I'm not good at the whole gift thing so there will be more to come lol Thanks in advance. :o)

Can you describe your favourite and best Easter Basket Ever?

As in "Dude the Easter Bunny FINALLY got it....brought me a Gift certificate to get Video Games and Pizza....?" Or lavishly with your fave fragrances and the finest chocolates? Or....fill in the blank________? One year I received a totally surprise basket but I can't mention the contents online.....exept theat the Easter Bunny gave me $300.00 on top of everything else..now THAT was one great basket...and you? Thank in Advance Garbo
--------------------
Easter is big in Pennsylvania, probably due to the large Slovak population. They have wonderful baskets with wonderful breads and goodies. And the eggs that they color and design are out of this world. Some use an etching technique and others make beautiful designs with wax on the eggs. Then they take these beautiful baskets to church to be blessed. My family has been off the boat, so to speak, for many, many years and we don't have these wonderful traditions, and I am envious. Lol, and I am also envious of the basket of which you speak. What a treat! lol

Christmas gifts for my boyfriend's family...?

okay, so for him I am shelling out $80 for a volcom jacket he's been eyeing But I also want to get something for his mom and his sister, who's a senior in high school His mom is a widow, and has a really stressful job, but she always makes time for my bf and his sis, and she loves to shop. So, i was thinking of giving her $45 to the mall, and maybe putting together a "pamper me" basket, with godiva chocolates and a candle and slippers and smelly stuff. she made me an amazing blanket for my birthday and i totally wasn't expecting her to get me anything So I want to show her how important she and her family are to me I was thinking of getting a $45 gift card for his sis too, since she adores shopping as well. But I want to get her something to go with it, just something little. Shes not really into designer brands, and she dislikes girl people. I'm kinda stuck and I don't know if these ideas are good ones and i dont want to ask my bf, bc i want him to be surprised by it. Ideas?
--------------------
What great ideas!!! I would do $50 for Mom and $25 for sis. How about some kind of basket for sis too with some sort of theme. Maybe a movies and a couple packs of microwave popcorn and a box of Jr. Mints, or do a small stocking with small stuff and the gift certificate like chap stick, hand lotions, socks, a compact mirror, nail file for her purse, fiction novel, etc.

good gifts for high school teachers?

hey answerers! :D I'm graduating in a couple weeks, and i had some really amazing teachers this year. I want to show how important in influential they were to me, but as you can probably guess, I'm a little strapped on cash! I will be making some cookies and such to for them, and I was looking into making baskets for the 4 teachers that I want to give something too! So... If you could give me ideas that I can use, that would be fantastic! Here are the teachers, to help ideas! A male government teacher, who just applied for law school and hopes to be a lawyer, A male english teacher, loves England and coffee! Another male english teacher, real goofball, humor loving guy. A female english teacher, sweet and a real great friendly woman! All of them are pretty young, so no old boring gifts. :D thanks soooo much for your help everyone! [oh i almost forgot! i'm planning to be an highschool english teacher too, so these teachers have really been helpful to me!]
--------------------
I am so impressed that you think so highly of your teachers. Although gifts are nice, a kind word often goes further. Why not write a note explaining the difference they've made on your life, what you've learned and how you've grown and print it on nice paper. Frame the note (5 x 7 is really nice) in an inexpensive frame. I am a teacher (a young one) and would cherish such a gift. If you would like to do more, offer to help them with end of year tasks--cleaning their rooms, text book inventory, etc. Helping them with these tasks will also help you become prepared when you are a teacher. Good luck!
