gift basket ideas for boyfriend?

Ok, so, i know i'm starting this a little early, but.. anyway.. our 7 month anniversary is December 24th, and i want to make him a huge gift basket. His family never really had a big christmas..so he never really got a lot of gifts... but my family, on the other hand, has always had a huge christmas. and we are engaged now, and this will be our first christmas together, and i want to make him a HUGE gift basket! Any ideas on what i could put in it? (sadly, we live about an hour away from each other, and don't get to see each other too often.maybe once a month, ish.) any ideas would be great!! thanks!!
--------------------
You could put together a "night out" basket with movie gift certificates and a gift certificate to your favorite restaurant and maybe put in a bottle of wine and his favorite candies, or put together a "night in" basket, complete with a few dvd's; popcorn, candies, soda/wine/beer; pizza gift certificate; and some of your own dessert ideas (think whipped cream, choc. sauce...etc....) Get creative with a theme. Think of some of your favorite things to do and maybe put together a basket of memories; You could put together 3 baskets based on your past, present and future. What a very sweat idea. Good luck and have fun!

Fun gift for a seven-year old?

I want to give my seven-year old nephew something fun and different. I know he will be receiving a lot of legos and other "boy" toys. I thought of a gift basket with some activity kits and candy.
--------------------
I'm happy to learn you're planning on giving something unique to your nephew for his birthday. I suggest you include the following in the gift bag you're making for him: activity and game books published by Klutz. I've given away many as gifts and bought others for use in my work as an educator. Here are my recommendations: The Book of Classic Board Games http://www.klutz.com/catalog/product/410… The Klutz Book of Paper Airplanes http://www.klutz.com/catalog/product/114… The Klutz Book of Paper Airplanes - extra paper http://www.klutz.com/catalog/product/124… A Super-Sneaky, Double-Crossing, Up, Down, Round & Round Maze Book http://www.klutz.com/catalog/product/211… The following are recommended for ages 8 and up, but they still get my vote: The Klutz Yo-Yo Book http://www.klutz.com/catalog/product/110… Explorabook http://www.klutz.com/catalog/product/310… Earthsearch http://www.klutz.com/catalog/product/310… I also suggest you consider buying him some books, including almost any title from the "I Spy" series from Jean Marzollo and Walter Wick, and the "Where's Waldo?" books by Martin Hanford. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b/103-… http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b/103-… I also recommend the following pop-up books (yes, pop-up books). I bet you even at his age he will appreciate the uniqueness of these two books by David A. Carter: http://www.amazon.com/One-Red-Dot-Childr… http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Pop-up-Book-C…

What is a nice gift to mail to a friend who has cancer?

My friend, sadly, has cancer. She is so young (in her twenties). What are nice ideas for gifts I can get her? (Keep in mind that I'll be mailing the gift since she lives far away, i.e., it can't be a fresh basket of fruits, etc.). Also, what are ways in which I can show support?
--------------------
It is hard to say, but I suggest you think about what she would like or what she has liked in the past. Don't focus on the fact that she has cancer. The gift is for her not the cancer.

Movie lovers gift basket help!?

I'm getting my sister a movie gift basket.I'm including the tub, a movie, popcorn, and a box of candy. What else should I get? And also, where can you find a popcorn tub (the red stripped kind)?

I've seen the red striped tub in Target and some dollar stores. A 20oz thing of soda. things of candy. a blockbuster or hollywood video gift card. and/or movie tickets. a movie trivia game book. small things that have to do with her favorite movie like a mug, keychain, etc. a soundtrack to her favorite movie. if the movie has a game you could get there or any other memorabilia.

Is this a good idea for Christmas gifts for my friends?

Okay so I am buying for 5 17 year old girls. I'm on a tighttt budget so I'm trying to do my best here. So I thought I should do something that's the same for everyone but different. What I had in mind was to buy an inexpensive mug for each of them [different mug for everyone], then fill it up with homemade cookies [4 each], chocolate dipped pretzel rods [3 each], 1 gingerbread man, a spoon that's dipped and drizzled in chocolate, a candy cane, a pouch of hot chocolate mix, and some candy. I want it to be like a gift basket but instead of a basket, it's a mug. Then I'm gonna wrap it in holiday cellophane wrap and tie it with these adorable Christmas ribbons I bought the other day. I don't want to come off as stingy or cheap but I don't have a lot of money. A few of my friends asked what I was getting them and I told them and they said it was cute but some of them are spending up to $25 each but I can only spend $80 between my Mom, Dad, and friends. Is it a good idea or is it too cheap? Also, how much are mugs at like the Christmas Tree Shop/Dollar Store? The ones in Target are like $10 each and I can't spend that much! Thanks in advance (:
--------------------
Dollar stores have them for about a dollar each! I think it sounds like a great idea. I would love to get a gift like that. :) Go with your idea. Your friends will love it!

Teacher Appreciation: gifts/food/any advice you can provide?

I'm looking for ideas for Teacher Appreciation week. Yes, I know this is in March, but I have recently become part of a committee and we're trying to get a jump start on planning. We are looking for gift basket ideas (the more personable, the better) and ideas for breakfasts/lunches/snacks that will be provided to the teachers throughout the week. Any ideas for party/decorating themes would also be greatly appreciated. Also, if any of you have done this before, please share ideas that worked or didn't work so well for you. Please realize that we will have the help of parents, but our budget is limited.
--------------------
At my school the PTA usually provides some sort of food for us each day. One day is breakfast, one is lunch, one is desserts, etc. When lunch is provided it is usually "themed." Sometimes we have had subs, sandwhiches, and salads. We have also had chili days. Parents made crockpots full of different types of chilli. There was also crackers, torilla chips, and cornbread. Gift basket ideas could include themes such as gardening, reading, movie nights, beach, home improvement, scrapbooking, baking, cooking, skin care, bath and body care.

What small gifts would you have liked to receive in the beginning of your 2nd trimester?

I just found out that a colleague is about 3 months pregnant-- after several years of trying! She and I were very close in college and, after working together for about a year, have become a little bit distant due to some stress in our department. I want to put together a small gift basket for her (probably about $30-$40 bucks) to show her that there are obviously no hard feelings and that I'm REALLY excited for her!! The only problem: I'm not really a "baby person" and have no kids of my own-- I have no real idea of what to get her! What are a few small items, personal care or otherwise, that you wish you'd had during the earlier part of your pregnancy. She's just hardly starting to show and is still having pretty considerable morning sickness. My thoughts: *Some good "belly" lotion (cocoa butter? any miracle creams out there she might not know of?) *Toenail polish (since she won't be able to see her toes much longer, she ought to appreciate them now) *a few bottles of organic ginger ale and packets of fancy saltines (she's being really careful with her diet and, like I said, still has morning sickness) Is there anything else that you can think of?? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
--------------------
GIFT CARDS! Fun ones! Times are tough now for money. How about a few creative $10 gift cards to a bookstore, a local maternity store, and a local store that sells baby stuff (Wal-Mart, Target, etc.). I would have loved that during my pregnancy! It would give her the option to help spending what she really needs! You can creatively present the gift cards with a card and a sassy comment about her taking care of her needs... or present the gift cards in a half dozen carnations, tape the gift cards to a package of newborn diapers with a note that she'll have to put up with a lot of "stuff" from baby, and to induldge herself meantime? Gift cards would have meant the world to me. They'd give me the freedom to explore what I needed, and would have assisted with what I wanted or needed to purchase! I was so eager so shop during pregnancy for me or baby, and was low on funds, so gift cards would be great!

homemade christmas gifts, ladies aged 28-32 what would you like that is homemade?

I have one sister, 3 in-laws aged 29, 30, 31, 32. heh. I'm 15. so I have a limited budget. 2 years ago, I made felt bookmarks that I stitched patterns on and attached buttons. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2270/2105… pretty much that but with actual buttons. last year I made martini glass candles: http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/dd116… I need another idea! nothing stereotypical, because they all have different tastes. I like doing something that's one project, not a personalized project for each person. again, small budget! and I don't just want to make a gift basket. I want something that I created. thanks! [:
--------------------
One year we made lamps. Use mason jars, regular christmas lights. Put string lights in jar - drill small hole near bottom of jar, you can add marbles, pebbles, whatever you like - you can smoke the jar. Cover lid with a piece of Christmasy material - close with decorative rubber band. Its very pretty lite up and make a great gift.

What Do I Get My Mom?

I need to get a Christmas present for my mom. She likes metal music, homemade stuff, Disney Princesses (Belle, Ariel, Pocahontas), and sparkly stuff. It can't be a gift basket, and she is too picky about jewelry. I am pretty crafty, so I will be able to make stuff. Budget of $50
--------------------
A good idea may be to make a poster with pictures of Disney princesses but with heads cut out and your family's heads inserted into the place of each one. You could also include descriptions in pretty writing of why that princess resembles (characteristics) the family member that you chose. You could also do the same thing with a family tree sort of thing. Good Luck! Merry Christmas!

Rules about sending food gifts from the UK to the USA?

I am in the UK. I have a friend in the USA and we regularly chat and swap recipes on the internet. I would love to send her a gift basket of UK ingredients, but there may well be items I am not allowed to post. Can anyone tell me where I can look up the rules about this? As an idea, some of the things I want to send are; Colman's English mustard powder in a sealed new tin. Gentleman's Relish , again in a sealed new container. This is a kind of fish paste and it sold in a really pretty pottery container. Again all items would be sealed and sent as they were sold in the shop. Marmalade and jam in those sets of tiny gift pots, such as you get in hotels. All the things I would wish to send will be new and have very long shelf lives. They would not require refrigeration. Is there a web site I can look up a list of items I CAN send?
--------------------
None of those type items are a problem. The main concerns regard fresh products, seeds, and non-commercial foods such as home-preserved meats. Those could carry pests/diseases that could contaminate the agricultural system or the environment. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacati… http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacati…

If you would carry a basket with treasures in it, which treasures would there be?

Just imagine you could ask some Angels from the Heavens to fill a basket which you carry with some treasures. What treasures would you ask for? This treasures would be given to you to give to people, to the world or the community. What sort of treasures or virtues or gifts would you like to give? Please be specific. So don`t say for example only " peace", but describe what this would do for the people or the community or the universe specifically. Do you have a dream or a wish in your soul, which is like a treasure you would like to fill in such a basket and then walk around with it and give to others?

Help with girlfriend's birthday present?

Ok im doing a gift basket with 3 boxes of her favorite candies. Then i'm gonna have 2 of her favorite movies. I need suggestions of what should go in the center. Nothing too too expensive because im on a budget! P.S. she is turning 17
--------------------
just throwing some ideas out there: 1 liter bottle of soda popcorn movie tickets for u guys something she's been wanting for a long time or maybe her earphones broke and she needs a new pair? little things like that so she knows you've been listening and paying attention girls like jewelery (dont go to claires its tacky and breaks easily, also she's a little old for that place) and of course, the card. actually if you made the card yourself it would be really cute. use microsoft publisher or some other similar software to create an original. and of course, a short, meaningful message written personally by you.

what does "exiled" mean?

Here is the sentence: I'd exiled the unopened gift-basket to the mudroom. I REALLY NEED THE DEFINITION!!!! i need it for homework. i tried to look for a dictionary but i couldnt find it.
--------------------
in your case it means "put" while being a bit sarcastic towards the gift. Sent to exile means banned from a country. So you had banned the gift from your presence. You had sentenced the gift-basket to spend the rest of its life in the mudroom. Exile One who lives away from one's native country, whether because of expulsion or voluntary absence.

homemade gifts for my 30(ish) year old siblings?

I know this is long but I tried to give you a lot of detail to get the best ideas :P I know it's early, but I want to start thinking about what I can make for my siblings for Christmas. 4 sisters, 5 brothers (some are in-laws, just so you know hah) I'm 16 but will have sufficient funds because I have a great job and am saving now. all my siblings are between 29 and ..35 I think.. they all have various tastes so I need general things that they would all like. I make variations of the same thing for all the girls, and the same deal for the guys. so I need a women's idea and a men's idea. here's what I previously made, to give you an idea: girls- bookmarks guys- coasters (that was A LOT of work, lol) girls- earrings guys- peanut brittle girls- resin keychains with their favorite quote/saying embedded in it (that was awesome because it's not an easy feat and it was so rewarding to see them impressed that I had made them myself) guys- peanut brittle again (its a guaranteed hit so I'm thinking I might just do that again; they've probably come to look forward to it lol) I'm not looking for "gift basket!" "chocolate!" "candy!" "bake something!". I want something practical, that they will enjoy but that also took at least moderate skill and effort. I have PLENTY of time, and really enjoy projects. thank you so so much! :] Merry very early Christmas!
--------------------
I like the keychain idea, what about a hand-painted ceramic bowl to keep keys in? That could be for everyone, actually.

Does anybody know the name of the song and artist that was on "Friends" in an early season episode?

its the episode when rachel finds out ross is in love with her because he gives her some sort of expensive broach for her birthday (that he misses b/c he has to go to China on business). Chandler blurted out the secret that ross was in love with rachel and this is the same episode when joey dates a woman who makes gift/fruit baskets. Anyways, the song i'm looking for comes in the end of that episode when rachel arrives at the airport with flowers to greet ross while not aware that he is about to come out of the gate with his new gf Julie. the only lyrics i can remember are the last 2 words "...say goodbye."

That's Madonna. It's called "Take a Bow". One of her prettiest, I think. written by Babyface and Madonna Track 3, Time: 5:21 ------------------------- Take a bow, the night is over This masquerade is getting older Light are low, the curtains down There's no one here [There's no one here, there's no one in the crowd] Say your lines but do you feel them Do you mean what you say when there's no one around [no one around] Watching you, watching me, one lonely star [One lonely star you don't know who you are] Chorus: I've always been in love with you [always with you] I guess you've always known it's true [you know it's true] You took my love for granted, why oh why The show is over, say good-bye Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye Make them laugh, it comes so easy When you get to the part Where you're breaking my heart [breaking my heart] Hide behind your smile, all the world loves a clown [Just make 'em smile the whole world loves a clown] Wish you well, I cannot stay You deserve an award for the role that you played [role that you played] No more masquerade, you're one lonely star [One lonely star and you don't know who you are] (chorus, repeat) Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye All the world is a stage [world is a stage] And everyone has their part [has their part] But how was I to know which way the story'd go How was I to know you'd break [You'd break, you'd break, you'd break] You'd break my heart I've always been in love with you [I've always been in love with you] Guess you've always known You took my love for granted, why oh why The show is over, say good-bye (chorus) Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye Say good-bye

Michigan-related gifts for a family in Germany?

I'm going to Germany for three weeks with a B2B program at my school, and we are supposed to give our host families a gift basket of things that relate to America, but mostly Michigan. I have a few things that are simple, like brownie mix (because they don't have brownies in Germany; terrible, right?), a "Beans Jackrabbit" ornament (if you know anything about that), and some nice chocolate (because apparently they like American chocolate), but I'm in need of some other things. What small items (food or otherwise) just scream "Michigan" to you? What other gifts might be appropriate? And please, no sarcastic responses like "a failing economy", etc. Very funny. Not so helpful :) Thanks for the help!

Mackinac Island Fudge (can be found at lots of gift shops, not just on the island) Vernors..not sure how you'd travel with it tho Winschuler's cheese..same as above tho There is a great MICHIGAN themed gift shop in Great Lakes Crossing, try that. Can't go wrong there.
