We have been dating for over 2 and 1/2 years and I do not work because I am studying hard to get into med school. I still live at home with my parents and he still lives with his. (I am 21; he is 22) However, my parents do not exactly help me much in the money department except for gas and food. I want still want to do something special and creative for him but I don't know what? I feel like I have done everything already (gift baskets full of his favorites, painted him pictures, made him CD's of meaningful songs, made collages, made a scrapbook, made a slideshow of pictures on the computer, and when I did have money I bought him the material things he did want) He is very picky and not your typical guy. He isn't into sports (except UFC), but he does like to work out...a definite gym rat. Somewhat into video games, but not so much. Hasn't even played them in over half a year. Very particular about his music choice, pretty much dislikes all modern music lol Is interested in business & stock market mumbo jumbo. I am in a pickle =/ he tells me not to worry and does not understand why I am even worrying about a gift for him but I want him to have a wonderful Christmas...

My future mother-in-law hates me?
Here's the deal: i always got along great with my fiance's mother. I honestly tried to be fair with her, considerate and when we had our son I even let her come in and see him be born because she was standing in the hall and i know she felt left out. On the holidays i was always the one to pick out her gift; i'm crafty, so i usually put together gift baskets for her. i called her and asked her regularly if she'd like to see her grandson, but she is always busy..working and running errands, so she never saw him more than three or four times a month. On my son' s first birthday she exploded on my mother, saying i was rude, immature, petty, etc and that i keep her away from her grandson. when my mom told me this, i was hurt and shocked, but i held my tongue out of respect for my partner. however, i did tell hm later, but he never even talked to her about it. needles to say, he just got worse; i tried calling her to straighten things out, but she wouldn't answer. finally, she called me and said some pretty hateful things, so i told her to stay out of my life and i also told her she wouldn't see our son again until she could treat me with more respect. my fiance agrees with me, but he's an avoider and still hasn't talked to her about it. before this their relationship wasn't that great; he didn't talk to her for FOUR years, but yet she blames me and claims that i keep her away from her grandson. i know she's just jealous because my son is more attached to my mom, but my mom is his primary caregiver when we're at work. i would have loved for his other grandma to be more involved, but he was never around. but now, i look like the bad guy to all of his family i'm sure, and my fiance still isn't opening his mouth and telling my side for me. it really hurts. he just doesn't like conflict, but i feel like he should stick up for me. i hate that things are this way, but i don't know how to fix it? we're getting married this summer and i would like to talk to her before then, but she is so irrational that she just yells at me if i call. would you be upset if your fiance refused to stand up to his mother? why is she acting this way? i am honestly still shocked because it came out of nowhere! should i try to call again? write her a letter or just consider her out of my life?

Your future mother in-law is jealous of the relationship your son has with your mother This is common..human nature For some reason, she may be jealous of you ! Are there any future sister-in laws in this picture? Are these women hard working decent family orientated women with good men in their lives? If they are not & you are..she wishes they were like you The caregiver gets much love Is this your mother- in-laws only (youngest)grandchild? Do not talk negative about this..Welcome to the club, there are many of us out here (me too) Be sweet, kind, patient, understanding & try to reel her in slowly into her grandson's life. A daughter's child is sometimes closer& special to the daughters mother Let baby get to know his grandmother slowly ,invite her over weekends for dinner..alone This will take time..work with your man to make this a successful transition Love is beautiful..especially grand kids love Good luck

Help!!!! I need Valentines day ideas!!! fast!!!!!!!! Help!!!!!!! I have alot to do!!!!!!!!!!?
Valentines day is coming soon. And I got a lot to do for some special people. So I got about 5 days to plan out what I want for V day, and to give gift baskets to about 3 families!!! Including my mom, my dad and my brother. (My brother is special needs and I love him so much. He loves me to! And by the way, he is only physically disabled.....so just because he's in a wheelchair doesn't mean he has a mental problem.....he understands everything I say. It's hard for him to communicate sometimes but he's a happy free spirited boy. Im sorry to write this it just gets on my nerves when I mention him and people are rude and say the same thing. By the way, don't be scared of people either......they know.) Anyway, I have a lot to do. I need some ideas how to decorate the baskets and what to put in them. One of the families has little kids about 3 and 4 and a new born. The other 2 I got covered. I just need to have some of the ideas for decoration.....and what's inside. I think a stuffed animal, roses, a coffee mug ( they all drink coffee-not the kids but....), some cookies, ( heart shaped ones) and a card. Maybe a Balloon too! What do you think?!!! Thanks!!!!

I see that you've decided to prepare some gifts to your close families ?f ? were you I would write all gifts in green hand writing first of all then I would never make a basket full with the same thing everybody should understand his or her place in my heart .so ? get for each of them a special gift ,for my brother on wheelchair a pair of shoes or socks or sleepers which am sure he likes their color . and such things for other members ,but never the same things

How did your church honor Mom's this year?
I have been the Special Events Coordinator at my church for several years. It has been a challenge to do something different every year but God has helped me. I have done the oldest, youngest, and the one with most children, had the children write essays about their Mom's and one year had the Mom's write an essay titled "What It Means To Me To Be A Mom." The judges did not know the identity of the writers and the three winners won wonderful gift baskets that I made. This year my helper and I made Recipe Cookie Jars for each woman in the church. Mason jars contained all the dry ingredients for 2 dozen Butterscotch Chip Cookies. All they have to add is butter, an egg and water. The ingredients are placed in the jars in layers and looks like sand art. An unbleached coffee filter was placed upside down on the lid and secured with a rubber band. The rubber band was covered with yellow curling ribbon and a card attached with a picture of a yellow rose and a poem. A small hole was punched in the top of the folded card and the ribbon threaded through the hole and extra ribbon made into a bow. The instructions for making cookies was printed inside the card. Everyone loved the gift and the jars made a pretty display on the steps in front of the pulpit. Please tell me what your church did.

Diaper raffle at baby shower?
I keep going back and forth about this one. Showers that I have went to before had guest bring in a pack of diapers if they wanted to be entered in a raffle. Some of the winnings have been $50 gift cards, gift baskets with $40 value. Anyhow I'm not sure if this sounds greedy? I'm not going to insist the bring diapers. I was going to word on invites "To add a little extra glee and help the parents to be bring a package of diapers (any size) and be entered in a raffle" or I can simply put "Diaper Raffle" just plain and simple? Any suggestions? anyone else doing this? I'm not having just a diaper shower it's a baby shower with a diaper raffle.
--------------------
I didn't do this at my shower, by suggestion of my mom, and she was smart lol. She said, and I agree, that people will spend less money on the actual gift since they are considering $20.00 on a pack of diapers part of their gift. What we are doing, to get some diapers and I thought it was kind of cute. We are having a guy baby shower. The guys are all coming over to hang out and just chill. On the little invite we put that instead of gifts we are asking them to bring diapers and wipes. I even guy proofed it. I put the brand name and sizes and where to get them on the invite. We decided to do this because so many guys wanted to come to the shower and my mom, who threw my shower, didn't want it to be co-ed. The guys are actually all really excited to do this lol. Just another take on it.

please, ADVICE?!??
im planning on doing some things to get money, an right now i have these things planned. im not sure which i may do yet theyre just ideas: 1*babysitting, 2*greeting/gift card illustrations, 3*gift baskets, and possibly: 4*online photo stocks, 5*that thing where you view websites for money.i have some questions/comments for each: 1: for babysitting, do you need some kind of license? 2: these would be for, say, birthdays, or for family friends my gramma or someone wants to stay in contact with, or holidays 3: for family friends/holidays 4: im not entirely sure about this one, but it seems good. 5: im not about this one either. i dont have a job license so i cant get a real job yet, so these are my ideas. if you have any advice please help!

well- babysitting is the easiest and pays the best. You do not need a liscence, but knowing how to do CPR will help along with some babysitting classes,(there only 20$)- you should be able to start off with a great start

Which One Would You Choose?
With the Christmas Holidays right around the corner I was thinking about either one of two things.....1. Buying Gift Certificates/cards or 2. Ordering from this place I found at http://www.blackriverbaskets.com I am handicapped so it's hard to go to the stores, so PLEASE tell me which you would prefer and why......I like the Gift Baskets, for right now, they appear to be more personal, what do you think? I don't seem to have much luck with places like Overstock, Ebay so please don't recommend them....I am only interested in the Two Ideas I mentioned...Thank You
--------------------
Go with the Black River Baskets! I say that because the website looks good and so does the selection of items. There's nothing wrong with getting gift certificates, although nothing says it better coming from the heart when YOU actually go out and get your own choice of a gift just for them instead of giving them the freedom to do it. They'll thank you in the long run for it. It's the thought that counts, right?

Recommendations for good, youthful maternity wear, body lotions, accessories, etc?
A friend of mine who is a diligent birth control user just found out she is pregnant (I guess that's why they say it is only 99% effective). Although it came as a shock, she is handling the news well and excitedly getting ready for her new arrival. Since this was so unexpected and I am sure she is terrified, I would like to do a little something extra to show my support for her (obviously she already knows she has it), by putting together a series of gift baskets with stuff to help her get through her pregnancy comfortably and in style. Of course I will be getting stuff for the baby too, but I want these baskets to be treats just for her. Does anyone have any recommendations for clothing boutiques (online or otherwise), lotions, specialty foods, etc. or anything else that they really enjoyed/helped them during their pregnancy? If it helps at all, my friend is smaller and in her early 20s. I would like to find clothing that is age appropriate and that she would be comfortable wearing. She is also very body conscious, so stretch mark lotions and pregnancy workout tape recommendations would be great as well.
--------------------
That is so sweet of you! Don't jump into clothing stuff just yet, your not sure how big she'll get. I am 35 weeks pregnant, and someday you can't even tell. As far as lotions, get her some stretch mark lotion. It is sold at Walmart and Motherhood Maternity. Foods, "preggie-pops" they sell those online or at babiesrus. The help with the nausea the first 3 months or so. My fiance bought me a pregnancy work out DVD and I love it. There are a lot of choices. Since you friend just found out, I recommend get her this set of DVDs that has four disks, one for each of the trimesters and one for post-pregnancy. I hope everything goes well!!

If all the invite said was "Diaper Raffle", I would have absolutely no clue what that meant. In my opinion, anything implying "raffle" on an invitation seems a little tacky, though I think your intentions are in the right place. :-) A baby shower I went to a few months ago had a Onesie contest where everyone brought in a cute / clever onesie. They hung all the onesies on a make-believe clothes line, and everyone at the shower voted on their favorite onesie. The winner got a $10 Starbucks card or something like that. I thought it was a cute thing to do at a shower.

What should I get my Fiancee's Mother For Christmas?
We have been together for almost 3 years. I was thinking of framing a nice photo of her son since she can never get a nice picture of him. Camera shy. But im not sure if I should give her a nice photo of the both of us together. I would obviously put the picture in a nice frame. What do you think? The pictures are black and white and taken outside in a forest so they look very elegant as if a professional took them. I am just not sure if she would want a picture of me...she hated me for the 1st half of our relationship. I stil dont know if she realllly likes me. Would this be a bad idea? We have given her gift baskets and candles in the past so those are not options. It's just a little something..since he doesnt live at home anymore.....Would giving her a picture of her son, portray a covert message saying...i have ur son now, he lives with me....here u just get a picture of him.??????Also, they already have many many plants in their house already. So i dont want to get her flowers or a pointcetta...or chocolates... Any other suggestions? a gift card is not an option. That is the easy way out.
--------------------
Give her a grandchild. (i'm just kidding) A picture would be nice, seeing as she can't get a good picture of her son. You should get her a spa treatment for two. Then, if your lucky, she might invite you! Also, I'm sure she would like you, after all, a mothers happy when her child is happy.

I'm trying to promote a website platform in my area. Please help me brainstorm some ideas for a sales letter?
There are over 700 businesses that have a website in my area. A local website platform will benefit area businesses by offering their services to the public. The i-net offers a detailed first look about a business that phone books don't offer. I am offering free profiles & website listings to new & exisiting businesses in exchange for word of mouth advertising. An agreement has also been reached w/3 local papers & a radio station to advertise my site in exchange for services instead of paying advertising expenses. Income will be generated from participating businesses that can offer services in their area such as: delivering flowers & gift baskets, ordering gift certificates from local vendors (day spas, golf shops, restaurants), & looking at a menu before ordering your food online. Offering these services over the phone have proven to be successful in the past, & w/good marketing, the i-net will benefit these services through visualization. Please help me w/brainstorming

how long will banana bread keep unrefrigerated?
I'm doing baked goods for donation for gift baskets for soldiers coming home. They have to be turned in ahead of time for the baskets to be assembled and then they are going to be put in the soldiers' barracks rooms prior to their return. We don't know their exact arrival date, so it could be 7-10 days from it being baked before the soldiers would be home to consume them. I know the soldiers would love something that is something different from the ordinary from-a-mix-cookie, but I'm concerned that the banana bread being moist and sweet would mold before they got home to enjoy it. Any thoughts or ideas would be great.

it would start drying out and attracting bugs after just a day, so i'd suggest packaging in plastic foil or airtight containers, and keep in a fridge.

What should I bring my host family in Costa Rica?
They live on a small farm. There is a mother who is 38, and we are considering bringing her an apron from Anthropologie, which are about 38 dollars, and very nice. The husband is a driver, and he is 45, I don't know what to bring him. There is an 18 year old boy, and again, I don't know what to bring him. There is a 12 year old girl, should i bring her something like nail polish, or slippers( cute girly ones)? And last, there is an 8 year old girl, and I am thinking to get her something similar to what I get the 12 year old. And last, I am thinking to get them a family gift of linens or towels. My mom lived in a foreign country, and was poor when she was young, so she thinks towels would be nice. It is most likely that the family is very poor, so I will NOT be bringing candy or coffee, or gift baskets, I would like to bring something nice and useful. Also, I'm a girl and 14, if it makes a difference. thank you

8 year old = barbie doll; 12 year old = make up & girly things; 18year old = find out which sports he likes, in example, soccer, buy him a soccer jersey or a Lakers jersey if he likes basketball; husband = polo shirt; mother = summer dress. the kids would also appreciate name brand shirts and such. the 18 year old boy will also like Nike branded shoes.

I want to give my husband a just "because" gift. Any suggestions?
Something different from the usual wine baskets, cologne etc. Something unique but still says I love you.
--------------------
That's very sweet of you. I think you should get him a gift certificate to his favorite store or if there's anything he's been hinting at wanting then you should get it for him. It's not easy to give specific suggestions because I don't know what types of things your husband likes but whatever you give from your heart I'm sure he will love it.

--------------------
1. You take the square root of 2162, which is 46 and some decimals. Then you can tell approximately where the book is open to: 46*47 2. Use x and y for the different kinds of tickets. x=adults ($5) and y=students ($2) 5x + 2y= 410 x+y=100 5x + 2y=410 -2x-2y=-200 -------------- 3x=210 x=70 : adults y=(100-y)=30 : students 3. Monique's age=x, Monique's mother's age= x+23 x*(x+23)=518 x^2+23x-518=0 factor and you get (x+37)(x-14)=0 so Monique is 14 and her mother is 14+23=37. 4. This one is done the same way as #2. The total of x +y is 50 baskets and the total of 3x (3 pears) +4y (4 apples) is 185 pieces of fruit. Now just do it exactly like number 2. You come out with 15 pears and 35 apples. 5. At least one of the bills has to be a $1 bill, otherwise you wouldn't get change that includes something other than 5s and 10s (a "9" can't be divided by 10 or 5). a. I think it's $31 per ticket (a $1 bill, a $10, and a $20) b. 19 students 6. Breen=Lang-39 x=Lang x-39=Breen y=Kovic x+(x-39)+y=500 y=x-25 x=188 (Lang) Breen=149 Kovic=163

What would be something that me and my friend could sell on etsy?
Me and my friend are into crafts and i would love for us to get closer and open a business on etsy making unique jewelry or anything home related. I just want it to be something that people would want to buy without a lot of experience needed.. OH! and i can't work with thread. LMAO! I tried beading, knitting and sewing and all 3 of those drive me crazy! LMAO! Doesn't leave many options does it? She was thinking maybe baskets and wreaths and stuff. I thought as far as the baskets, maybe we could do gift baskets as well. Please let me know your thoughts. I am 26 and she is 20. I think we could do pretty good at whatever we do. Please let me know what you think would be fun and what would sell at the same time. Thanks so much guys and gals. ;) <3
--------------------
Beading, knitting, and sewing are classic crafts, but that's not all that's available... Wirecraft (making pretty designs out of bent wires), paper mache, paper crafts using some kind of unique paper (common examples include collectible cards, interesting but not valuable baseball cards, etc.), simple pottery, and drawn/painted art. Etsy isn't exactly professional art; if you're concerned about creating stuff that haunts you, create a temporary Etsy account for selling stuff you're not sure of, and give it a try. The real secret is to START. To just try. One good tool for sales, though, is to come up with a story for what you've made, or before you make it. For example, woot.com sells (effectively) junk, but they tell a GREAT story with every item. This drives sales, to the point that they were able to sell themselves off to Amazon. You don't need to be that big, but telling a story connects with your audience, no matter the medium.

for DIABETICS what items could i put in?
a holiday basket that you would enjoy. I'm already buying sugar free cookies, candies and chocolate for the holiday baskets I'm making for my family. My father was diagnosed with diabetes so I've decided to give EVERYONE a diabetic gift basket. are summer sausages out? what about cheese?
--------------------
For me summer sausages and cheese would be great but,I have no problems with my cholesterol fresh fruits are always welcome too. For women candles and lotions might be nice. For your father maybe some foot cream as we have to take extra good care of our feet. Good Luck it is sweet of you(no pun intended) to make baskets like that.

A tasteful yet function way to wrap my homemade Christmas treats?
I will be baking my gifts this year again. I will bake 12-15 varieties baked goods. Last year, I put the different treats into zip-lock sandwich bags and placed them into decorated, woven baskets. I thought it looked a tad bit tacky as I hastily put them together. My treats have to be seperate; they include: Cheese&chive puff pastry balls, Macadamia nut brittle, White and dark chocolate almond bark, Monteray Jack and Jalapeno cornbread mini muffins, assorted cookies, and banana nut bread. HELP! Everyone will get the whole variety.
--------------------
Wow...you are very generous! That's alot of work. You could wrap each item in waxed paper (to prevent oil stains and leaking) then wrap them in a nice gift wrap. That way each goody looks like a gift. Then put them all in a box, basket, or large tin. You can also get unfinished hat boxes at the craft store. I painted and decoupaged a number of them one year. They are large enough, and you can make them really personal. Goodies are also really fun given in a paint can. I got a gift from a friend that was packaged in an unused paint can with lid that she bought at the hardware shop.

How can my 7 y/o make a Christmas ornament or craft using colored sand??
This year, I'm making 'Cookies and Crafts' gift baskets for all of the adults on my list. I want to include a couple of crafts in each basket that my son can make. So far, I like the 'Salt Dough Ornaments' idea(http://crafts.kaboose.com/saltdoughgiftt
I'm looking for some creative ideas here (because I've come up with none!). I'd really like to get rid of this sand (I think I've had it for almost 10 years!!). And I'm really looking for small crafts or ornaments so they'll fit in the basket. Thanks!
--------------------
You can get plain glass ornaments at your local craft store. You will also need a funnel, and paper umbrellas. Pour some of the sand through the funnel and into the ornament. You can put a paper umbrella and stick it in the sand. On the outside, paint a sun and maybe some waves. Voila! You have a beach-in-December!

Go to Target and see if you can find something cute - a squishy pillow, etc. for her room. You might try Limited too or Justice if there is one in your area. Also, Webkinz are a big hit around here! Good luck!

I understand that Jehova's Witnesses don't celebrate Christmas, Birthdays or other holidays....?
Are they allowed to accept gifts or eat treats from these celebrations? A vendor recently brought us a gift basket that had the holiday theme, some of my co-workers who are Jehova's witnesses ate the treats from these baskets, so what gives?
--------------------
It seems rather obvious that many or most vendors which give gift baskets do so with a view to improving their own prospects for future business and profits, rather than in some effort to celebrate a holiday. A typical Jehovah's Witness would understand his brother or sister's decision regarding such baskets to be his or her own, to make according to his or her conscientious and actual understanding of the "gift" (or perhaps "bonus"). It is well-known that Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate pagan holidays, but they also do not superstitiously reject something merely because it has been tagged by someone else with a holiday nickname (or not, as seems to be the case with an unnamed vendor gift basket). For example, fruitcake does not become unacceptable simply because it is sometimes called Christmas cake. Of course, Jehovah's Witnesses work to please God and Christ, and understand that no seeming "loophole" could ever deceive the divine judges who can read the heart. ...(1 Samuel 16:7) Mere man sees what appears to the eyes; but as for Jehovah, he sees what the heart is. ...(Jeremiah 17:10) I, Jehovah, am searching the heart, examining the kidneys, even to give to each one according to his ways ...(Mark 2:8) Jesus, having discerned immediately by his spirit that they were reasoning that way in themselves, said to them: "Why are you reasoning these things in your hearts? ...(Genesis 18:25) Is the Judge of all the earth not going to do what is right? A Jehovah's Witness may choose to accept a bonus or a gift if he sincerely believes that the giver intends it to be something other than an aspect of a pagan celebration. It would seem that a critic who pretends some special insight into the conscientious thoughts of another may benefit from professional counseling and the bible's practical advice. ...(Psalm 119:69,70,78) The presumptuous have smeared me with falsehood. As for me, with all my heart I shall observe [God's] orders. Their heart has become unfeeling... Let the presumptuous ones be ashamed ...(Proverbs 11:27) He that is looking for good will keep seeking goodwill; but as for the one searching for bad, it will come upon him. Bridesmaid Drama!!!!!?
so this weekend my mother was telling me that my brother's fiance isn't speaking to her. my brother's fiance is going to be one of my bridesmaids. my mother wouldn't tell me why she wasn't speaking to her, and my mother was very upset over this. in tears, etc. so i finally got it out of my mother why my brother's fiance was not speaking to her...... she was upset because i am having gift baskets to give away as prizes at my bridal shower and she thinks that this was HER idea for HER shower and i was stealing her ideas! like wtf! doesn't everyone give away gift baskets as prizes for a bridal shower?!? she was also mad that i chose navy blue as my bridesmaid dress color and SHE is having an ice blue color. so she thinks that i am copying her on this factor too! i chose navy because it is my favorite color! not because she is having a different shade of blue. so my brother's fiance called me and told me that she would not be participating in my wedding because i am copying....

OMG... can you say BRIDEZILLA.... (not you, her) She needs to grow up and be an adult.. As you can tell it is probally better that she not be in the wedding.. if she cant deal with small issues in an adult manner she needs to walk... If she had an issue with anything she should of came to you and discussed it with you, not your mom.. Just let it go.. She is the one showing her immaturity.. I dont see anything that you are copying.. You are your own person.. she needs to get a life.. My drama.. Didnt come from the bridesmaid side.. It was from the groomsman side.. One guy we called & emailed for a week and half giving him info and when to be there for things.. No response.. The day of the wedding, a no show.. We had to pull one of our ushers to fill in.. A week later I seen him and asked what happened.. He said his dad came down and he wanted to spend time with him.. About a week after he told the truth.. He didnt like weddings and just didnt want to go... JERK..

What is the best gift to get my gf?
ok well, my girlfreind is....... great! She has gotten me somthing twice now, and I need to return the favor! The stuff she has gotten me has been small, sentimental stuff. Idk what to get her now and im totally stumped. the first time she got me somthing, she got me a pack of gum, and i know that sounds dumb, but it ment alot to me because its the kind she always has. The second thing she got me was a basket full of candy (that she gave me tonight). It had snowcaps (which we ate on our first date, more of that gum, and a bunch of other candy. Now I have to come up with some sort of great gift. I wnat her to just fall over when she see's it. The gift is not for any certain thing (easter, christmas, birthday...) just an "i care about you gift". I really dont want to spend over $25-$30. Please help me out

Okay...what if you get her a disposable camera and a small photo album, and tell her that you want to use it to take some pictures of the two of you together? You two can go to the park or mini golf and just get some silly shots and start a little memory book together.

I'm looking for tools like melon baller, fruit cutters, crinkle cutter, contour knives, etc. I'm planning to make fresh fruit arrangements for gifts. And also, if you have received a gift from Edible Arrangements or happen to work there, what do they use to attach the wooden skewers with the fruits to the basket?

Sugar-free hard candy recipe? Splenda?
I'm making gift baskets for Christmas this year, and want to put homemade hard candy in it (by request from last year). However, my boyfriend's dad is diabetic, so I'm trying to find a sugar-free recipe. I'd rather use Splenda than anything else as it tastes so much better. He's diabetic, not taste disabled! I read on someone's post from another website that Splenda tends to clump. Anyone actually made hard candy from Splenda?

Hi Natalie Had a quick look. Some thoughts: The pink and heart theme looks a bit too lovey-dovey Valentine Day-ish to me. This is a year-round business, so maybe you need to make it more general. You do need a banner picture at the top. The site seems a bit bare without. You might consider a bit of sales talk for each of the categories - an intro telling people why a gift basket makes sense for a birthday etc, how it saves time and hassle. basic principle is to sell the BENEFITS, rather than the item itself. People buy benefits - a saving in time, convenience, originality, etc. - Why people should buy a gift basket rather than send an M&S voucher. Pictures load slowly. You may need to look at the resolutions (72dpi is standard) But more fundamentally, Wiltshire Gift Baskets to me (living in Kent) conjured up an image of Wiltshire specialities - whatever they might be - I dunno, maybe Wiltshire bacon. But the gifts are fairly generic. Nothing wrong in that, but it may puzzle people slightly. Is there actually an opening for gift baskets of Wiltshire specialities? - maybe. Now, other ideas to steer people towards the site (apart from the search engine stuff): "County' type magazines. Where I live, there are about 4 or 5, a few free. Write an article about the business for them. Not TOO sales-y, it needs to appear to be editorial. Most of these mags rely on such pieces, and welcome stuff pre-written - it saves them time. They might try to persuade you to advertise with them - resist until the business takes off. Local newspapers: again they are always crying out for material. If you can write a piece about your new business and make it not too obviously a self-advertisement .... Links with other sites - local business sites, wedding sites, local town sites. Good luck!

True spirituality is a wake up call. Very few people in the world are really awake. Hence there is so much of sorrow and frustration. To be alert is to be awake. An alert person will not blame others but awaken himself. One has to learn to drive with care, as life has no spare. When God gives us problems, it is to humble us and not to tumble us. When one is alert, one can transform poison into medicine. Fear of loss exists in one who has not seen the joy of what one has. 'Be romantic in the company of females, but be aware that the Hawaii girls throw trouble makers out of the boat.' Love exists in the absence of the ego. In the eye of love a different quality of beauty opens up. The whole purpose of life is to sense an opportunity to see the magical morning within.

Anyone with some good mother's day gift ideas?
Okay, I fall into the same trap every year. There are specific days I have to shop for every year: mother and grandmothers' birthday, Christmas, and Mother's day. Christmas is easier than the other two for some reason. When I was a little boy, what I did was make homemade Mother's day cards and make breakfast (bowl of cereal and juice, lol.) Over the years, it seems I keep giving the same things: cards, flowers, candy, clothes, shoes, baskets, money, and I honestly can't come up with anything else. I usually get gifts for my aunts, mother, and grandmothers on Mother's day. I don't like to give everyone the same thing on the same day. Like, if I give my mother clothes and a card, I will give my grandmothers a card and flowers, and alternate every year. So any ideas would be helpful. Thanks. :-)

Can you help.... PLEASE!?!?!?
How would you advertise this... WHAT SHOULD I WRITE???... Mothers' day is coming (May 13th, America) , please tell me, is this a good idea, I sell Avon and my brother gave me this idea... (He said it would work for the men who just don't know what to get... and the men who work too late to go shopping...) make gift baskets... and do a "build your own basket" or a "You pick the price" where you tell me what you want in the basket and I put it together. And charge... Ex. Small basket: $2.50 plus the cost of the Avon products. Medium basket: $3.50 plus the cost of the Avon products. Large basket: $4.50 plus the cost of the Avon products. Do you think this would work??? would it work in a small town??? PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE OUT WHAT TO WRITE!!!!
--------------------
Good idea ....but why stop at Mother's Day? Keep it going for Father's Day,Graduations,Party Gifts...you get the idea I'm sure. The prices of the buckets are about right. And it can work. You may want to write something like this....( Let Avon and I help you build a fabulous gift basket for all occasions.I will personally advise you and help you make this a wonderful and fun gift.)Then print some fliers and get them out.You may want to make up a basket or two ahead of time showcasing maybe Mother's Day or a Baby shower.Have lots of samples on hand and you might even advertise in your local news paper. The cost of that is reasonable. You can even make up a few more baskets and host a build your own basket party.Punch , chips, dip, maybe a dessert and take orders that way.Let Avon know what you are doing so they will take note of your wonderful idea.Best of luck to you.

how do i keep my bread from falling?
I have a bread basket like this one: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/item
I can rise bread in it but when i put it on a baking sheet to bake the bread falls and i end up with a smoshed loaf... how do I keep it rounded? I've tried letting it rise with the basket upside down on the sheet but when i pull it off the flattens...
--------------------
When using the brotform, (bread form) you need a stiff whole wheat or rye dough. Also, dough very easily de-gases or collapses after the second rise, so you must handle it very gently. Very gently, roll the dough from the basket onto the baking sheet. It should slip out gracefully, without deflating. if it deflates totallya small settling is OKsimply form it into a smooth ball, put it back in the basket, and let it rise again (only this time not quite as high). As you experiment with your recipe, remember that the day's weather, quality of the yeast, type of flour, and quantity of whole grains used can greatly influence the final rise of your bread. Do not use the Brotform basket for baking the loaf. Use it only for the rising. Here's a recipe from King Arthur Flour http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/c This site shows the baker putting the brotform directly onto the peel http://www.artisanbreadbaking.com/discus

Let me run this by you!?
I want to do gift baskets for Christmas, because we're just starting out and really low on funds. For my in laws we're going to do a basket including 2 movies ($5 each Wal Mart), popcorn kernels, oils, season shakers, fuzzy slippers for him and her, 2 mugs w/ cocoa packets stuck in them, a warm throw, and some homemade cookies. Same for my mom! For my brother we're all pitching in and getting him a wii and guitar hero (do they make that for wii?) For my husband.... I'm thinking a waterproof watch? What kind of watches can you take w/ you to Iraq? And some massage gadgets from Wal Mart he's had his eyes on! Do you have any other unique gift basket themes I can use?? Thanks!

making my own baby business?
I graduate from college next year and I'm looking to maybe start my own business. I would like to start off making my items and selling them online and then working up to my own store. I was thinking about doing baby items. Do you think this is a good field? What items do you think would sell well? Clothing? Slings? Gift baskets? anything else you can think of? I of course would try out all my stuff with my own kids and friend's kids first before I tried selling to the public. I also want to make things affordable. I always see people trying to see baby gift baskets for tons and tons of money! I found one today that was $150!! Of course all my items would be new but I would find great deals on them. I'm excellent at finding deals. i might do some consignment too. thanks for your help. oh and tell my mom's what r u looking for when you look for a gift or deals? thanks.

Are the favors a waste of money?
I am helping my daughter 19,(the bridesmaid) and the MOH 22, throw a bridal shower for my other daughter who is getting married in August. So another words, I am planning, paying for it, but their names are on the invite as the hosts and will get all the credit. Anyways... my question is... since most people feel that favors are a waste of money and get left behind at weddings, does the same apply for the showers? There will be 9 gift baskets given away between the games and door prizes, as well as there are 42 small items that will be given away during her gift opening (when the timer dings whoever's gift she is opening will be allowed to choose something from the basket of trinkets). So are additional table favors needed? What are some of you doing or have seen at showers you have attended?
--------------------
considering you are doing so many other gifts i don't think you HAVE to do favors.... if you do favors, something edible is always great... i did a "tea party" shower and the favors were a packet of tea and biscotti, whoever doesnt' drink or eat those things just passed it to someone else. but at another shower we did "bath confetti", and i know for me, that stuff always ends up in the garbage. so if you do a favor and want to know it will be used- go with edible. much more likely it will be used! but with all those other gifts, you could skip it i think.

A small gift for the neighbor who mowed my lawn?
My neighbors have lived next door to me for 4 years. I do not know them well. They know I am ill often. Because of a few conversations over the years. My lawn mower broke and have not been able to get it fixed for almost 2 weeks.(the other side neighbor borrowed it and broke it and did not offer to fix it uggg) With the heat index of over a 100 or raining No one has been able to come fix it that I know. Today it is very nice out. Without asking the good neighbor came over and mowed my very high grass. I was to sick to go out and tell him thank you or anything. I want to go to our local grocery store and get them something to say thank you if I feel better tomorrow. Which would be a better gift with a thank you card? A fruit basket? A BBQ basket with steak, hot dogs and potato kind of basket? They are in there early 50's. And have a pool and grill out often. But is a steak basket to strange?

Gifts for departing seniors?
My highschool's senior night is coming up that is basically saying thank you and goodbye to the seniors. It happens this tuesday, September 26th, so I don't have time to order cute volleyball things from ebay or other sites because they wouldn't get here in time. What would be some cute things to buy the 3 seniors that has to do with volleyball and what stores should I look into? It could be an assortment of things like a gift basket or something I can even make, I'm just really drawing a blank. Thanks! =)
--------------------
Well, since you're doing it on short notice- you could do things like give them a volleyball autographed by the rest of the team (have your three seniors autograph each others ball after you give them out). If you could get a volleyball with the team colors (Tachikara makes colored balls - don't know if anybody else does). I like the gift basket idea - but I have no idea what you'd put into it. There are two good volleyball resources that I've come across on the net - if you poke around there, you might find some ideas. Good luck to you.

Family Christmas gift idea?
I am spending this Christmas with my aunt and her grown children and their families. This means a present for 3 couples, 2 single women and several kids. The gift ideas for the kids and the single women isn't a problem but for the 3 couples it's a little harder. They all have one thing in common. Anything they want, they get. My budget is not a large one either. I was looking at the coffee grinders and thinking of making each couple a basket with a grinder, whole beans and a flavored coffee syrup. Does this sound ok or just another useless gift? If you have any other ideas, they would be greatly appreciated.
--------------------
If you have photos of them, you could think about caricatures of each couple. These are fun, and are a great talking point not only when given, but for them for years to come. They are not that expensive either.

How much would you......... please answer?
be willing to pay for a gift basket like at christmas or wateva with a bar of soap, bubble bath/shower gel, bath salts/bath bombs and lip balm and body scrub.if it was sold on amazon or somewhere like that?
--------------------
Like the guy just said, it depends on the quality of the gift basket. If it was nice stuff, like Bath & Body Works or Burt's Bees, I would be willing to pay up to about $20 or $30 on something like Amazon or eBay. I added the link to Bath & Body's gift bastket page so you could compare what you'd be getting for your money in comparison. But if they aren't brand name products, and they were on a discount site, I really wouldn't pay more than about $15. Just depends on the quality, and the quantity. Good luck!

Containers for Cookies?
Okay, I dun really have money right now to buy like...boxes, or fancy stuff to hold cookies, I already spent all of my money. (I'm 13) I have ribbon, and that see-through/clear wrap. That thing people use to wrap like gift baskets. Do you have any ideas on how to wrap the cookies to make it look nice? The cookies will be round, and some will be different shapes. Like small stars, bears...etc. Or do you have any links that can help with this? Thanks.
--------------------
I've wrapped cookies in seran wrap and tied it up with ribbon before and it looks cute. Cut the seran wrap into squares and it can make like a baggie. But, another idea is those little clear plastic bags with the cute decorations on them. I bought some last night at a dollar store (25 in a pack) and they have Christmas trees on them, but there were other's with snowflakes and holly and other stuff. They are also really cute to put your cookies in and tie them with ribbon. That's what I'm giving to my coworkers this year.

Will this work?
I have recently just set up a website bruschistreasurechest.com I sell dog gift baskets, I know this sounds like spam but i really want some honest answers. How does it look? How is the pricing ? Would you order something like this? What could I change that would make you more likley to order? I appreciate all feedback Thanks

I think the website looks great and the concept is good. The prices are a bit high (maybe add some lower priced baskets for those who do not want to spend that much). Also, under the holiday basket button it states none at this time? I would have a Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years etc already out there with several to choose from so people can plan ahead. I would purchase one for my puppy :) Good Luck to you guys!

Buying local for Christmas?
Has anyone tried to keep a green Christmas by buying all presents from local businesses? As in locally produced - works of art, arts and crafts, music, gift baskets, wine, etc. Thought it would benefit the local artisans and keep the consumerism down this year. Would be hard with small children, but I was wondering if anyone had tried this, if for no other reason than to screw with the corporate commercialism or save on transportation of massive goods.
--------------------
Rock on PD! I'm actually doing that this Christmas for the first time. I'm usually an internet shopper, looking for the best deal. But, I decided, who really cares if you save $2 on that 'whatchamacallit'? I mean, I'd rather support our local businesses and my community and the people who are my neighbors. We are lucky to have a local artisans shop (my town is only 15,000 people) and the downtown is just starting to come back with quaint locally owned shops...I'm so glad! We also have a small book store which stocks kids' books written by a local author, so that helps with presents for the kids. Anyway, I think it's a great idea and it's actually making my shopping a lot less stressful and more fun!

If you have ordered some thing don't you think you should pay for it when you get it??? please read...?
Ok.... we have a gift basket company. We filled a order for 20 baskets. We gave almost a $100 discount off of the entire order b/c we "thought they were friends" anyways. We delivered the baskets on 12/20/06.... the lady still hasn't paid. She got mad at us b/c we asked for the money.... so we could order more of our product. Do you think that it is too much to ask to be paid in a timely manner & before Christmas??? She got a major attitude and is totally being rude. I just wanted to know your thoughts about this. As if the holidays weren't stressful enough.... then we have to deal with a rude person. Thank you for all comments & answers. Merry Christmas!

Christmas is very magical for me.there is so much going on event wise during the holidays just watch your local newspapers for all the events listed and local charites whom offer many great free!!! christmas meals to share with your families..but some do request rsvp..so many great cooks whom make such great foods and lavish desserts..in keeping the holidays simple some suggestions are; 1.make up home baked holiday treats from cookies,to mini holiday cakes,to home made candies, caramel apples, pizza cookies, home made breads, jams or jellies,or home baked ice cream cone cakes are always fun to give, and recieve...Do you realize there are so many budget friendly stores for those of us on tight budgets as i am..for me my favorite places to shop when i have some cash on hand are: 1.pier 1 imports clearance items 2.dollar general stores 3.dollar tree stores 4.family dollar stores 5.Big Lot stores 6.target dollar spot items 7.save -a-lot grocery stores have a whole dollar section and a numerous assortment of really neat finds.for just a buck! from mens and womans winter hat and gloves to give as sets,to socks,to dvd classic movies so why not make a movie night gift basket filled with classic dvd movies.. or another budget simple friendly idea for all the men on your list is make up poker gift baskets filled with the poker hand book, the decks of cards, the dice, and the poker chips ,etc...(shh my son is getting this this year)!!that they will wow over!! another budget friendly idea for all the cooks on your list is too buy a inexpensive metal sifter and fill it with tools we need... another suggestion i really enjoy is shopping at only the dollar general store .as i favor there holiday scented candles in a jar for $1.00 there the best.. then buy some holiday printed sacks.some bows, the tags, perhaps some boxes of candy canes to add to front of package.needless to say slip one holiday scented candle per bag..and what a clever inexpensive holiday gift to give and recieve..or if you do not enjoy giving holiday scented candles why not use inexpensive photo frames in stead of the scented holiday candles. even family fare dollar grocery stores have dollar rack of cosmetics why not give sets of cosmetics or sets of professional make up brushes to give for the gals on your list... holiday pins and brooches photo frames holiday candles stationary body butters, and bath stuff bath stuff for men. sets of winter gloves and hats for both men and woman buy bulk candies from meigers to give as holiday treats fill a cup or holiday container of... and it also helps greatly to if you have not already do start a holiday gift container to watch for neat non food itemes to fill in it with as you fined em for dirt cheap clearance prices while shopping all year long really helps me out too...so the reason i wrote this is because last night i tried to answere some one whom was broke but yahoo had troubles last night ..one can only hope this finds its way to her as well..wishing you all a very joyous holiday season...

1. LCM of: 4, 27, 12 is 108 108/4 = 27 108/27 = 4 108/12 = 9 2. the answer depends on what you put into each basket. if you want one of EACH of the three, then you can only have 24 baskets if you are OK with only one item, any item, then you can have 24 + 36 + 60 = 120 baskets 3. LCM of 36, 6, 4, 3 = 36 36/6 = 6 pens 36/4 = 9 stickers 36/3 = 12 balls.

Can anyone recommend a fun adult board game geared towards drinking or sex?
Two birthdays are coming up and I've decided that I want to get each of them a sex and/or drinking adult board game as part of their birthday gift baskets. The first board game I'm considering is: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009Z3
I've also considered "Would You Rather...?" The gifts are for two gay males... both turning 20. If anyone has any other good gift ideas... please suggest them! Also, these two guys are not dating... so it's two different gift baskets.

Gift Cards - Different way to package?
Has anyone given gift cards in a creative way? Someone once gave me 5 gift cards stuck on a stick with a piece of candy in the middle. It looked like a flower. I'm looking for an idea similar to that, but a little different. The only one I could find online was an idea with a balloon and a basket. Might do that but might need something smaller than a big box with a balloon in it.
--------------------
Bake a cake or cupcake and use it as part of the decorations on it. You could always get a cute wallet and put it in there. Or, a deck of playing cards with the gift card as one of the "cards"

MOTHERS, FRIENDS, SISTERS....would you buy these things?
Would you buy gift baskets for babies from markets? good quality gift hampers/baskets for babies from the markets if price range was $15-$25 and range from 4-12 gifts in each hamper/basket. just wanted to know for future small home based buisness. sets would be made up of anything from 1- baby products like bathing products, creams, powders etc 2- bottles, rattles, dummies, bibs, towels etc 3- outfits: 1 peice suit, hat/bonnet/beanie, socks etc 4- random mixtures including books, flashcards, feeding sets tc plus lots more would be clearly packaged so can see whats inside. mix of girls boys and unisex packs i would make them myself, im a stay at home mum of 1 so have lots of time on my hands thouht this was a great way of making extra cash
--------------------
As a gift, yes. For myself, maybe. I'm very picky as to what I use on my baby. I like to use all natural products so the cleaning/bath products might turn me off. I've also found when buying for myself I get more value if I buy certain items in bulk packages rather than one cute item of everything in a gift basket. But as a gift, of course I would. Another thing to consider is gift baskets geared towards breastfeeding and bottle feeding moms. A breastfeeding one might have some nursing pads and milk storage bags versus another with bottles and nipples and such.

Gift for hosting easter dinner?
My mom and I were invited to easter lunch by my boyfriend's mom. The dinner is nothing formal, and our parents have met once, but Im just not sure if im supposed to bring a gift for his mom or maybe some food or what. My boyfriend also told me that his mom bought me an easter basket, so I dunno if that makes a difference. And if I am supposed to get her a gift, how much should i spend and on what? Anythings helpful. Thanks. -Tina

I always get a hostess gift. In this case, I'd bring cut flowers if possible, or a box of candy from the candy store. Since it's your boyfriend's mom, definitely don't go empty-handed.

So here's the thing...?
I am 23, married, and broke. My husband and i live paycheck to paycheck. Our bills are much and our income is little. My question is does anyone know of a way to make some extra money without being illegal and not seeing each other. We both work in different towns both 50 miles away from where we live. We make and sell gift baskets and misc. gifts but it is still not enough. I know things could be worse but it is taking it toll on our marriage and our health.

Does anyone know a good gift for a senior future mother in law who doesn't need anything?
I need something I can buy in a store because her birthday is today. She has a lot of stuff and isn't low on funds. She doesn't go out often because it is difficult for her so she prefers to stay at home reading the newspaper in front of the TV all day. Last year I got her a fruit basket, I have also recently given her a watch that didn't fit her, and I usually give her some sort of chocolate as well. I'm looking for something different. She doesn't want a plant or anything breakable because she is afraid the cats will knock it down. She has tons of books but she didn't like the last one I got her. So I am wondering if anyone has any ideas of a gift she might like? I was also thinking of something that would entertain her when she's by herself - like a 1 person activity. She also has a dog and 4 cats that she loves. So anything to interact with them might be an idea.

I plan to also make other small crafts. I'm starting small. I may branch out into other areas such as sewing crafts or decrotive candle holders, gift baskets ect or I may not ever get around to doing anything but jewelry. Not sure yet. So I need a flexable name. Also will sale 2nd hand things: clothes, cloth diapers, toys ect DH is giving me money to set up a website . So I need a short name (preferably 20 characters or less) One to 3 words. (nothing with beads or baubles!) My name is Sonita. You can check out my (current website! I don't have a suggestion of what to use but I do have something not to use. From experience, use a name that is easy to tell someone over the phone with out having to spell it. Mine is www.4ahealthieru.com and I have to explain in carefully. Keep it easy. By the way, I sell Herbalife and am getting into New Vision.

I need a name for my business?
Im setting up a gift basket business, i have practically done everything but i just cant think of a name for my business! I do all sorts of baskets - but my main target market is the Asian consumer, as i make baskets for Asian festivals such as Eid, Diwali etc. Perhaps an asian word could be used? But i just dont know what. I wanted something around the word 'celebration' but 'celebration gift baskets' just doesn't sound catchy enough. Any ideas / suggestions would be appreciated. Full points and a gift basket to say a big thanks from me goes to the person with the best answer. Thanks everyone.x.

I don't know what to ask for, for CHRISTMAS!?
so, I'm a 13 year old girl. I really like to shop, but I don't want to ask for money or gift cards. I already have a cell phone, a digital camera, a dell laptop and an ipod. I'm asking for a coton de tulear dog and a marc by marc jacobs purse. I know I'm not going to get the dog though. I also dont want any make-up, clothes, books, cd's/ music or anything like room decorations... I hate getting those types of things as gifts. Does anyone have any ideas??? my grandparents like to give out 'gift baskets'. They have taken a large basket, and filled it with things that each person in the family would like. Ex: If I wanted makeupp, they would go to some makeup store such as Ulta, M.A.C. or Sephora, and buy maybe $100's of makeup , put it in the basket, and give it to us christmas eve. If you have any ideas for things that I could ask from them to put in the basket, that would be great!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!! (p.s. I'm not spoiled, I just have a really really REALLY big family, and have gotten my ipod and cell phone using money I had recived as birthday gifts. So pleasde NO RUDE COMMENTS!!!!) Thanks again *alikat*

It sounds like you are really blessed and not as materialistic as lots of teens. If you are sincere in not wanting lots of "things" you might think about asking your family to "adopt" a needy family for Christmas. We did that every year when my girls were growing up. Sometimes we actually shared our Christmas dinner at our home. My girls loved it.

Bridal Shower People Canceling!!!?
Friends of ours are getting married and, the woman is having a Bridal Shower 2 weeks from now. The guests on the man's side of the family have decided all, through the man's mother, that they are not coming. They waited until now to say this. They planned on 35, now there will only be 17 or so people showing up. The hall is already booked and of course the dinners/meals etc. Many items of preparation have already been completed, such as gift baskets etc. It was suggested that they no invite these people to the reception and only the wedding. The man has no idea why they aren't coming but we believe they just do not want to drive the 3 hours. There are feelings hurt and money lost throughout this issue. What would you do?
--------------------
Not inviting them to the reception seems petty. They are going to inlaws (hopefully) forever. I would take the high road - try to cancel the dinners. If you can't freeze them- during the wedding week no one will have time to cook. Save the gift baskets for treasured relatives and present them at the wedding.

VAT ???? help needed please??
I sell gift baskets online & from home, I add the vat onto the total on my site, When i sell from home i make out invoices & receipts, but for example,,,,, someone buys my £10 basket, do I add the VAT or have to take it out of the £10. I think it would be abit of a hassle for my customers, they want to give £10 for a £10 basket???? please shed the light a little????
--------------------
1. Are you VAT registered??? If not STOP IT RIGHT NOW ITS ILLEGAL. 2. You add it to the sale price. I.e. if your baskets are £10 Net, then you sell them for £11.75 gross. If you are charging for shipping, yu do this: £10 plus £5 shipping is £15 + VAT (£2.63) total invoice: £17.63. You must quote your VAT registration number on any VAT invoice. If you are retailing straight to the public, just sell the damned things for £10 and work out the VAT backwards or jsut advertise at £11.75. You don't see price tags in your high street with VAT missing from them do you now? Only in TRADE establishments not dealing directly with the public.

All satisfy the first requirement, but Pa=1300 Pb=1250 Pc=1200 Pd=1350 so only c fits 2) Are you not given the profit per fishing basket? if not you have 12.50x +P*f=1000 x+f=100 which is 2 equations and three unknowns which can't be solved. If you have the profit, then you have two equations and two unknowns and you can solve for x and f
