I have been the Special Events Coordinator at my church for several years. It has been a challenge to do something different every year but God has helped me. I have done the oldest, youngest, and the one with most children, had the children write essays about their Mom's and one year had the Mom's write an essay titled "What It Means To Me To Be A Mom." The judges did not know the identity of the writers and the three winners won wonderful gift baskets that I made. This year my helper and I made Recipe Cookie Jars for each woman in the church. Mason jars contained all the dry ingredients for 2 dozen Butterscotch Chip Cookies. All they have to add is butter, an egg and water. The ingredients are placed in the jars in layers and looks like sand art. An unbleached coffee filter was placed upside down on the lid and secured with a rubber band. The rubber band was covered with yellow curling ribbon and a card attached with a picture of a yellow rose and a poem. A small hole was punched in the top of the folded card and the ribbon threaded through the hole and extra ribbon made into a bow. The instructions for making cookies was printed inside the card. Everyone loved the gift and the jars made a pretty display on the steps in front of the pulpit. Please tell me what your church did.

We went for the simple gift. A flower, and a gift certificate to our book store, and jewelry display. Works everytime. Peace!
