Birthday gift for my brother!!! Help!!!! I've got no clue!?

My brothers birthday is on Dec. 23rd. I have no idea what to get him at all and totally forgot until just recently. He will be turning 26 this year. He is into music. He is in a bluegrass band and plays the banjo and also knows how to play the guitar(acoustic and electric). He lives a river so he is able to do some fishing. Besides for playing the guitar and banjo, he is very musically talented and can sing very well. I am totally lost on what to get him and since I dont know what kind of guitar strings and such he uses, those are out of the question. Please any ideas would be nice. Nothing rude or dirty please. Oh, he drinks a lot of coffee but I already got him a coffee gift basket for Christmas so nothing like that either.
--------------------
Buy him a French Press from Starbucks, they cost anything from $20 to $40, so he can make nice coffee for him and guests

High School Graduation Gift?

It's a gift for my best friend that I have known for all 18 years of my life. I would like to put together kind of a "Gift Basket" of presents. Any ideas?? I'm looking to spend around $200 Thanks!
--------------------
It depends on your friend's interests. I don't know what sex your friend is, so that makes it a bit tough. There are some basic things you could throw together though. For girls: Starbucks giftcard, bottles of nail polish, movie theater giftcard, small perfumes (Victoria's Secret has a bunch of purse-size bottles of their perfume which are pretty cheap. If they're not in the store, you can ask them to order more for you), candles, comfy blanket, bath oil, yummy lotion, pj's, a few packages of her favorite candy, basically pampering/comforting things that will help her with the transition from high school to college. Same deal for guys. (Just not yummy perfume and candles!) Maybe different giftcards to athletic supply shops, video game stores, etc. If you know your friend well, you know the kinds of things they're interested in. Good luck!

Gift ideas for baby?

If you were to put together a gift basket for someone who just had their first baby, what would you put in it?
--------------------
Vaseline, a little pack of diapers, day & night time lotions, travel wipes, a couple of cute onesies or outfits, pacifier, small toy or 2 (rattle, set of keys, etc), soothing music CD, baby wash, bib, washcloth & hooded towel. You don't have to put ALL that in. I figured you can pick a few things out from there. Maybe even a gift for the new parents as well? A gift cert maybe?

How should I design my gift for my new baby cousin?

We decided we would send my Aunt a cookie basket. I would like it to include "It's a boy!" cookies and police type themes. The little one is named after his father's father who was a policeman who died when my uncle was in his teens. We thought it would be really meaningful to include some sort of police car or shield or something in the basket to represent who he was named after. Should I do mostly baby stuff and maybe a car at the bottom or mostly police stuff with its a boy on it?
--------------------
I think you should mix n match. I went to Target the other day and they has a rubber ducky dressed in a police uniform.. It was made by the brand munchkin. And there are websites where you can find cut onesies with cute slogans like "chick magnet" on them. Just type in police onesies an you'll probably find one. And police car would be cute. Maybe you could find a basket and spray paint it the same colors as his grandfathers uniform. One of those picture frames that look like an open book buy a baby themed one so you can place a pic of grandpa on one side and baby or daddy on the other! Oh and back to the onesies you can actually get a pic of grandpa make it to one of those iron on patches and iron it on the onesie! Also maybe some things that dad and grandpa did togther when he was alive? togther? Keep the tradition! Good luck and hope this helps!

Baby Shower Gift?

I want to make a gift basket of necessities for my friend's baby shower. But rather than use a basket, I want to use a tin tub/bucket so I can stencil the baby's name on it. Anyone know where I can find one of these? Thanks!

A home center like Lowe's or Home Depot--probably in the garden dept. Or you could try an arts and crafts store like AC Moore or Michael's.

Starting a gift basket business...?

I have set up a website, describing the products, and everything... whats next, how can I get the word OUT there... I am in canada, and I prefer to only work within my town. help! im only 17! i dont know what to do next!
--------------------
Good for you for starting your own business. If I were starting a gift basket business, I would try a few of the following 1. Advertise on Craigslist (free) 2. Advertise my website with Google Adwords local. Google lets you specify which area of region you want the ads display. Therefore, only people from your own area would see the ads and you wouldn't be wasting money with people from other area clicking on them. 3. You don't mention what type of gift baskets you are selling, but I would think of some places that might sell to the people who are likely to buy. For instance, would your gift baskets be appropriate for people in hospital? If so, take one or two to the hospital gift shop and ask if they would be interested in carrying them. They would take a cut of the price but its still a good way to promote. 3. Find out if your town has a chamber of commerce or similar business association or networking group. Get some business cards and attend these networking events. Be prepared to promote yourself and your business when you attend. 4. Find out if any local charities or churches are doing fund raising events. Offer to donate a gift basket to them so they can sell raffle tickets or use it in a silent auction. 5. Place an ad in your local newspaper. 6. Make up some brochures and distribute them to local businesses before Christmas. Businesses often send gift baskets to their major customers or clients over the holiday season. 7. Refer to the web site below for a new of tips for promoting your web site. All of the ideas are free.

What are some good beauty/skin care items for snowboarders?

I have a friend who's really into snowboarding, and I thought it'd be nice to make her a gift basket of various beauty and skin care items that a snowboarder could use. Any suggestions? I'm on a budget, so I'd prefer inexpensive items; that way I can buy a few things and make a nice basket.
--------------------
I think you should definitely put some chapstick in the basket its a girls best friend on the slopes, sunscreen, moisturizer, waterproof mascara. Some mini handwarmers & a cute bandanna & maybe even a mini handheld massager. You could also put some warm socks & sunglasses/goggles.

low low budget christmas baking ideas as gifts?

I'm not good at baking, but am willing to try baking easy recipe cookies, buy small gift baskets at the dollar store, and fill them with baked cookies as gifts for family members. Have only gifts for 4 children and parents and in laws. The rest, to be brutally honest, cannot afford. I just want low budget ideas and easy bake recipes to go with. Can anyone help me so that I can make nice gifts with little money, while keeping my self dignity???
--------------------
cookies are easy to make and cheap to buy the ingredients. You'll probably end up spending $20 or a little more on the stuff. And it can make you allot of cookies to give to people.

What to get my boyfriends parents for xmas?

My boyfriend and I have been together for about 6 months. I am going to get his parents something for Xmas but have no idea what to get and the boyfriend is no help. I'm thinking just a gift basket with a bunch of random stuff. All I can think of so far is sausage and cheese and maybe a gift card for somewhere out to eat. Any other suggestions? I'm on a budget as well. Thanks!
--------------------
I was in your same situation. If you go to Cheryll and Company website they have gift packages of chocolate, nuts, brownies all different mixes of delcious treats. They range from 15 dollars and up plus shipping. They wrap them beautifully and it's a nice gift to give to his parents. Especially since you haven't been dating that long.

What dessert wines or liquors pair well with anything chocolate?

I am making up a gift basket with dessert chocolates and chocolate filled cookies and cakes. I am including a premium roast bag of coffee. What types and / or brands of dessert wines or cordials would you suggest?
--------------------
Eeew, asti spumante is tooo sweet and too grapey, it would cover up the taste of chocolate. If you are going for that, why not just go for champagne???? Moet Star is a reasonably priced one. I am not a big fan of beer with dessert, either. If you are going for something heavier, why not the classic....brandy or cognac??? Remy Martin Red I think is the more reasonably priced one but I am not sure about that. All are fine, cognacs are well controlled. If it has the title "cognac," you can rest assured that it comes from the Cognac region of France, and its quality controlled. Oakiness is the charm of cognac. However, if you find cognac a bit too oakey (I usually do...) ....then go for brandy or a fine bourbon, instead. A delicious and reasonably priced brandy is a German one called Asbach Uralt. If you go to Switzerland, you will find Lindt chocolates filled with cognac. If you go to Germany, you will find chocolates filled with Asbach brandy. My favorite bourbon is called Blanton's, but there are many good ones, like Maker's Mark. Try some of these taste combinations yourself!!

How should a nonprofit organization handle the taxability of raffle prizes to the winners?

Is the prize reported at fair market value minus the price of the ticket on a 1099? Also, if the prize is a package of items, like a gift basket, could the winner refuse some of the items and not pay taxes on the items refused?
--------------------
The prize is reported at fair market value. Issue the 1099MISC to the winner in that amount. It is up to you if you will allow the winner to accept only part of the prize. You can require that the winner accept the entire prize, or if they refuse, you will not award the prize, or will award the prize to an alternate winner. If you choose to allow the winner to accept only part of the prize, then you would issue the 1099MISC for the fair market value of the prize accepted.
