Starting a gift basket business...?

I have set up a website, describing the products, and everything... whats next, how can I get the word OUT there... I am in canada, and I prefer to only work within my town. help! im only 17! i dont know what to do next!

Good for you for starting your own business. If I were starting a gift basket business, I would try a few of the following 1. Advertise on Craigslist (free) 2. Advertise my website with Google Adwords local. Google lets you specify which area of region you want the ads display. Therefore, only people from your own area would see the ads and you wouldn't be wasting money with people from other area clicking on them. 3. You don't mention what type of gift baskets you are selling, but I would think of some places that might sell to the people who are likely to buy. For instance, would your gift baskets be appropriate for people in hospital? If so, take one or two to the hospital gift shop and ask if they would be interested in carrying them. They would take a cut of the price but its still a good way to promote. 3. Find out if your town has a chamber of commerce or similar business association or networking group. Get some business cards and attend these networking events. Be prepared to promote yourself and your business when you attend. 4. Find out if any local charities or churches are doing fund raising events. Offer to donate a gift basket to them so they can sell raffle tickets or use it in a silent auction. 5. Place an ad in your local newspaper. 6. Make up some brochures and distribute them to local businesses before Christmas.
