What should I give a friend who put together a computer for me?

I bought all new parts and a friend of mine assembled it and got it running. He is well-off and seems to have all the cool gadgets and stuff he could want. I'd like to send something unique as thanks, not something generic like a gift card or gift basket. Any ideas would be most appreciated! (I'd be willing to spend up to about $80.)

Get him a really cool unique painting.Abstract ones are good.

What can I put in a basket i am making for my sister's wedding gift?

Something they both can enjoy
--------------------
I would make it a pamper pack for two - like a honeymoon in a basket. Massage oil, chocolates, fluffy handcuffs (lol) maybe a mild adult game - like dices bath crystals/salts/fizzes microwave popcorn, candy & dvd hire vouchers for a "movie night at home" a bottle of wine the list could just go on and on

I was just wondering what's something you would buy off line instead of going to the store?

For example things like gift baskets for any occasions, welcome home baby baskets, and etc. Things that can be made for people so they won't have to go to the store and buy all the items themselves
--------------------
I'd buy anything online that I would in the store. Things like gift baskets are good because a lot of times you would send them as gifts to other people, and if they are far away it's easier to buy online and ship to them versus going to the store, having to package on your own, and then going to the post office and paying postage. So I think anything done as a gift or that would need shipping is better online. (Especially when companies like amazon.com offer free shipping!)

recipes & other ideas for teachers?

hi everyone! I'm making gift baskets for my teachers, and I am looking for recipes and other ideas for things like cookies and such that could go into the baskets. :D thanks!
--------------------
sugar cookies 2 cups sugar 1 cup margine 3 eggs 1 cup sour cream (8oz) 1 tspn baking soda 2 tspn baking powder 4 1/3 cups flour cream the sugar and margine. add eggs, beat well 5-10 minutes with mixer. add sour cream and dry ingredients. drop by tblspn. bake 12 min at 350 degrees. I made these cookies for my daughter's teacher. she said he ate 15 in one day! So i guess he liked them. They are not like the regular flat sugar cookies. they have some air in them so they are soft and yummy. And they stay soft for a few days. this recipie will make about 40-50 cookies depending on how big you make them. So, one batch would easily be enough for a few teachers.

Why is it that LA is not so much in to Soccer as the rest of the word?

Soccer is a big favorite sport all over the world. Why is LA not much into it? Is this why Beckam is getting out of his contract? www.DSCGOURMET.COM best gourmet gift baskets in LA
--------------------
Because Los Angeles is in the US, and America has never embraced real football. I suspect the real reason Beckham is moving to Milan is due to the fact that Victoria expected to be embraced by Hollywood and that hasn't happened.

What is the proper etiquette when a new neighbor gives you a house warming gift?

We just moved to a new town and our new neighbors next door walked over and introduced themselves and brought us a lovely basket with some items in it. Do we return the basket with a thank you note or are we supposed to keep it? I don't want to offend by returning it.
--------------------
What a kind gesture! The entire gift, including the basket, is yours to keep. A nice thank you card would be a very appropriate way to express your appreciation.

Where can I find unused bottles? Prefer glass, but plastic is ok... ?

Where can I find unused bottles? Prefer glass, but plastic is ok... I mean somewhere in person, not online. It's for gift baskets I'm putting together, I'm making some cider to include. About 8 oz is the size I'm looking for... Where would I look? What kind of store? Thanks!
--------------------
What about using glass mason jars from the grocery store? (like the kind of jars used for canning fruits and vegetables?) They are glass, and you can buy them in all sizes and shapes. They are easily found in the grocery store and at most places like Walmart (in grocery stores they are usually found on the aisle with plastic bags and aluminum foil, or other food storage. In Walmart they are in housewares, like near the tupperware dishes and aluminum oven trays). You can get a whole tray of them or buy them individually. I know they have a wide mouth, which is unusual for a liquid to be put in, but at least they would be brand new.

Around the Clock bridal shower gift ideas!?

Help with gift ideas!? I got invited to a friend's surprise bridal shower, and the theme is "Around the Clock", where each guest has been given a time frame for which they are to give a pertaining present. The time frame that I got is 7pm - 10pm. I want to make a basket of gifts, with 3-5 items, can you give me ideas for gifts for a bride-to-be for this time frame? The bridal shower is 10 days from today. Thanks!!
--------------------
It sounds like you got the best time! You can give her things to help get ready for bed. Get a nice lotion and bubble bath to help her relax at night. You could do a sleep mask, night time aromatherapy beads, or other night time things. A nice chamomile tea would be great as well.

Valentines Gift Help?

ok so im a teenager and was wondering what some good gifts would be to give my friends. I've seen some people give little gift bags or baskets of candy and stuff but for about half the school that be pretty pricey. are there any good gifts out there for teens to give each other on valentines day?
--------------------
Remember how funny it was to get the Spongebob valentine, or maybe a Simpsons one, or something...You could hand out valentines with a small candy attached. You could buy a couple bags of hershey's miniatures, and put one or two with each one. Or just give everyone a couple of Hershey's kisses or couple of sticks of gum... You could make your closest friends some homemade valentines with maybe some homemade cookies or a bigger candy bar. Hope this helps.

Ideas for making a Valentines day gift? Help appreciated!!?

I want to make something special for my boyfriend of 2 years, like a photo collage or basket of gifts or something! The problem is I'm not very creative and I woulldn't know where to start. Does anyone have any ideas?
--------------------
Men do not like girlie things as a rule and what you have suggested is rather girlie. After two years if you do not know what your boyfriend likes, by way of a cd, aftershave or such, there is not much advice a stranger who does not know either of you can suggest. If you think he likes girlie things, then you go ahead with what you suggest.

How big of a thank-you gift should I give?

I have a one person massage business. I got stuck at a doctors appointment recently and was going to be a few minutes late. I asked the property manager of the building if she wouldn't mind putting a post it on my door for my client. I don't ask them for much there and pay a lot of rent. She was nice about it but jokingly said "you owe me big!". I want to do something to show that I really appreciated it, but I'm not sure a huge gift is warranted? At first I thought of putting together a gift basket with various lotions and creams. Then I remembered this wonderful zucchini bread my father in law makes. It has walnuts and Cinnamon, and everyone thinks it's to die for. I was also going to include a thank-you card. Do you think that is a nice enough gesture?
--------------------
Sounds like she's either hoping you will give her a massage, or just teasing you. Homemade zucchini bread sounds nice to me!

I need Christmas gift ideas for my family?

I have a really tough family to buy for. I have one older sister, an older brother, my mom, and my dad. So far, I only know what I'm getting my mom and sister. Mom: Portrait of my family, candle gift basket, and a bowl she wanted. Sister: Ipod shuffle, and perhaps jewelry? Dad: I have no clue. He hates any modern technology, and really doesn't need any new clothes. He enjoys yardwork and the outdoors. Brother: This guy has everything known to mankind. He's got an ipod, big screen TV, new laptop, and the whole bit. He enjoys paintball, and stuff for his new car, so I was thinking something along those lines. Any help will be VERY much appreciated!!!!
--------------------
Dad: something practical... outdoor tools, accessories; gift card for hardware store? Brother: more memory for computer; gift card to paintball park; they have car coolers/heaters; seat massager; all sorts of LED car toys? Hope I helped...
