Any ideas for gifts to give the owner of a small business for their first year? The guy I am dating owns a business and I just found out tomorrow is his one year mark. What would be a good gift idea? I was thinking a few gift cards for his employees (I work at the bar/restaurant next door...figured maybe $10 for each employee), a basket with a nice bottle of liquor for him and his business partner to share and toast with...and what else?
--------------------
What kind of business does the gentleman own? Maybe you could use that as a theme. Personally, I wouldn't give a gift costing more than $25, whether I was dating the guy or not. A card would be nice, and something he would likely hold on to because you gave it to him, if no other reason. Maybe a plaque with Congratulations on it?

Father's here is a survey question? PLZ answer?
Ok so for mothers day I made gift baskets. I know guys don't get gift baskets so I sell avon and there are guy products such as sets with Cologne, shower gel, after shave conditioner and deodorant. we have gift bags that are completely black with AVON written in white. Would you like something like that for fathers day? Or is that a bad idea
--------------------
In my opinion I would love to get something like that. but thats just me. now granted the whole bag with Avon on it might make some guys uncomfortable but i dont care the thought that counts and i would use the stuff anyway

Calling all new moms!!?
I am putting together a gift basket business...I am trying to gear my baskets for new moms who either are still in the hospital with their baby or just arriving home. What would you have wanted to find in a gift basket?? Thanks so much for your help!!
--------------------
I would NOT have wanted one in the hospital - the hospital provided everything that my twins needed and it would have been just another thing to figure out how to bring home from the hospital. We had flowers, balloons, my bag, the twins, their car carriers etc . . . At home, I would have loved things for mom like lotions, body wash, things for baby like onesies, diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, bibs and things like that. We got a couple of great gift baskets that had personalized things like bibs with our twins names on them, teddy bears, hooded bath towels for the baby. Good luck with your business!

Injured Military / Veterans?
Please answer only if you've been hospitalized at a military or VA Hospital...Our Women Marine Assoc is wanting to do some projects for our local VA hospital. Last year my kids and I made 'hygiene' gift baskets for the Spinal Cord injury ward and it was a big hit. Please help with ideas that would have made your stay more bearable (I had one guy who was so thankful for Q-tips!).

Believe it or not, small craft or hobby projects are awesome. Especially those Indian Moccasin ones. You get to make them, then wear them. (Come in handy for those trips to the Smoking shelter outside)

binged for 3days and gained 6lbs?
OMG i am freaking out.Im pretty slim,I have had an eating disorder.I was 7 stone and 9 lbs and a UK size 6-8. since sunday afternoon I have binged everyday and gone from 7stone 9lbs to 8 stone 2lbs. and i have gained 1 1/2 inches on my waist and hips. i feel so bloated and look pregnant im totally freaking out,i look huge but couldnt stop eating these last 3 days.I know what triggered it and i just went out of control eating everything We had an awful lot of chocolate gift baskets etc for christmas so Ive eaten a heck of a lot of chocolate crisps, bread etc Ive tried drinking lots of water because aparently it helps bt its making me feel even mmore bloated I dont even want to go out because even my face looks fuller! this cant seriously be real weight gain right? my anorexic thoughts are in overdrive right now and im seriously going off my head! someone please replky and if anyone who has had a similar situation could help i would be so grateful/ I was still very unhappy with my shape/body at 7stone 9lbs and it took me over a year to get back to that weight after getting down to a low 5 stone. to think ive gained all this weight and inches after 3days is making me feel awful
--------------------
Just take it easy and go back to eating a reasonable amount of food ... try to go for a 45 minute walk after dinner and try to get a couple extra hours of sleep to help your digestive system move all of that bulk through ... the bloatedness will go down once you have a normal amount of food in the "works" ... I get that way, too, but 2-3 days of eating better and getting extra exercise and more sleep tends to put me back right ... I would guess you could have gained maybe 1 lb of "real" weight ... the rest is extra water and extra food ... also, you should avoid dairy and egg for a bit, even in milk chocolate ... the casein in those can make a body bloat and retain excess fluids ... particularly around the waist ...

What age should girls know how to take care of their bodies?
I have 2 step daughters ages 7 and 9 (almost 10). Recently their father had to give them a hygiene talk because they went 5 days without a shower . They live with their mother full time and he gets them every other weekend and once during the week. He tries to tell his ex about the situation and she plays dumb. The girls are never showered when they come to stay and they can never remember the last time they took a shower. They are getting older now and their bodies are starting to change. I dont know what we can do to get them to realize that they need to shower atleast every other day if not every day. They dont even understand the importance of changeing their socks and underwear every day! This last time we had them they were wearing the same socks for 6 days and they were stinking up our house. We didn't realize that they were the same socks because they have identical socks at our house. We just figured they had stinky shoes and set them outside to get some air. What age do you think girls should know how to take care of their bodies and their own hygiene? I know that when i was 5 i would make my own bath and make sure i was clean and by the time i was their age i was showering every day without anyone telling me to ! I dont want them to be the stinky girls in their school. Dont you think they should know this stuff by now? Does anyone have any suggestions? I have already taken them to pick out soap and shampoo and smell good stuff and they use it when they come to our house. I have gotten them stuff to take home (little girly gift baskets). My husband and i have talked with them about how they need to take care of their bodies but it is like they cant grasp the importance of it all. Please help!

Make a list of the things your kids are expected to do everyday & hang it up. When they want to play video games, play with friends, watch TV, etc say "Is everything checked off your list?" After a while they will have the things they need to do memorized and will do them automatically. For example, I would have something like. Daily Goals 1. Clean room 2. Do Homework 3. Read for 15 minutes. 4. Take shower. Just tell them the things on the list must be done every day before any fun activities occur. Also remember that kids that age may have trouble turning on/adjusting the water to a comfortable temperature, my daughter is 8 and I still have to do that part for her.

Does anyone know of any holiday bazaars/craft fairs in Las Vegas, NV?
I am an Avon Sales Representative looking for some local schools, churches, or communities that are holding holiday bazaars, craft fairs, festivals, or any other type of vendor friendly event. I make gift baskets for almost every type of hobby a person enjoys or just takes interest to (i.e. cooking/baking, grilling/bar-b-qing, beauty/fashion, breast cancer awareness, children, etc.). If anyone knows of any please either give me the information on here or a web address I can find contact information about the event. Thank you to all that reply!

What do you think of this business idea?
I want to have a local "of the month" club. I was thinking of a couple of ideas; A kids craft club, where every month they get sent a different package with a theme, say Mexico...A Mexican type craft to do, extra craft pieces, flash cards to learn about different things, book suggestions from the library, and a few other things. With this I thought parents, grandparents would like it, to get the kids off the video games. A baking club, With different treat sent to your house every month An Adult craft kit club. And a couple more... I would keep it local. That way the cost would be cheaper. I would also sell different themed gift baskets, or too order baking goods, say someone wanted homemade cookies at Christmas time, but the didn't have time. They wouldn't have to be in my club, they could just order the cookies. I would advertise in the local paper, maybe bring stuff to the farmers market. Have cards at different shops around town, and put it on craigslist and kijiji. What do you think?
--------------------
I would sign up for the kids craft club! That's a really good idea!

How to go about doing this? Please answer!?
My mom and her mom are doing a lot of crafts and gift baskets and such and they want to sell them, but they are not sure how to go about doing this. Do you have any suggestions? They don't like want to go into an industry (lol). They'd like to know how to get started... so any suggestions for that? I know about the farmers market, but it's to late for us to sign up for that, and were not aware of many craft shows near us... So is there anything they can do? Do you know of any ways of finding craft shows? Thanks for your help!

On your local newspaper website, you should be able to do a search for craft fairs and crafters wanted. Make sure you go back to last year and see what fairs were held last year. You can call the organizers and ask if they will be holding it again this year. .

Is this any good?
A slight reworking, but still at a dead end. Any help with this would be much appreciated, thanks. The Many Places... A bustling parking lot, a white washed house, and a strip of stores. A neighborhood that looped 'round back, and a private road, often traveled. Ivory covered houses behind petal storms, sitting like faces behind veils against a backdrop of woods. A little girl, a red tricycle, and a blue dress, threadbare, yet loved. A little boy, and his group of friends, 10 speed bikes and mean faces- a challenge and a chase, a lost little girl, and a highway that would lead her to other places, to other homes and other townships and cities. To schools, boarding schools and finally other states. To downtown excursions, late night rituals, and first drunken tirades. Tales of sabotage at the hands of friends, and plotted escapes. To the trailer in a trailer park, the first home and a small spending spree. A fake diamond ring and plans for a wedding. To a broken union and baby's first kick, the birth, and a proud mother, a bewildered mother, behind a smile, booties and bonnets, and last minute plans. A trip back home, and another shot at family life, a second first home in a basement. Hung pictures, simmering stew, and seasoned sachets. A white wooden crib and a screaming tot, a screaming pot, screaming parents, and slamming doors. Slamming doors against mothers who leave their kids like gift baskets upon your lap, a diaper bag and its contents spilling across the floor; cased secrets spinning upon a shelf, and a shaking room against screaming, screaming , and accusations. And then tickets upon a night stand, a quickly scrawled letter, and a ragged suitcase, threadbare, yet loved. and a plan, a half hearted plan to get away. But not until years later, when ripples settle, and waters have since stilled, with a child half grown and plans of her own, on a random event. A requested stop along the way, a brief pause beneath a sycamore tree and an out of place bird upon a limb. A welcoming chirping chatter, like an old friend. A small parking lot, a small gray house, and a tiny little plaza. The same size it has always been.

Where can I buy canning jars in Olympia, Washington?
I have been hither and yon looking for canning jars to no avail. I need half-pint jelly jars to finish my yearly jelly gift baskets. Does anyone know where I can find some? I need 3-4 dozen. Ordering online is not an option because I have berries that need to be canned within the next 2 days. I just moved here from Portland. I used to get them at Bi-Mart or off of Craigslist, but there are no Bi-Marts here, and there aren't any available on craigstlist. Here are the places I have tried, with no luck: Walgreens Rite-Aid Wal-Mart Target Fred Meyers Safeway Albertson's True Value Hardware Ace Hardware Grocery Outlet Olympia Food Co-Op (they had jars but not enough of the right size)
--------------------
I find it really hard to believe that you can't get them at Walmart. Every one I've ever been to has them. If that's indeed the case, then contact the Ball & Kerr companies below and find our where you can purchase jars in your area.

Thinking About Selling AVON?
I stayed home w/ my son for two years, and have been working as an insurance agent for about a year. i really miss staying home with my son, and i am thinking about selling avon and maybe making gift baskets with home made soaps and scrubs to sell online and at local flea markets. my family is fine with just my husbands income, but we're trying to save up for a new place. all i would need to make is enough to pay for groceries. does anyone have any advice on whether they think this will work, or should i just "keep my day job" =0)
--------------------
Actually flea markets are a great place to sell Avon and gain new customers. I started selling Avon to be a stay at home mom. Now two years later I have a great customer base, I am on my way to president's club sales level, and I am a Unit Leader which earns me commissions. Avon is a great career opportunity. I would love to add you as a member of my team and help you establish your Avon career. Please email me and I will get you started.

How about two Receptions?!?
My fiance's whole family lives in Ohio, my whole family lives in Boston (12 hour trip). Where do we have the wedding?! If it's in Ohio, we're asking my whole family to make a big trip (time, $$, etc...) and we realize a number of them won't be able to attend. And if we have it in Boston, visa versa. Sidenote: I don't want to to deal with having a significant number of traveling guests,ie: hotels, gift baskets, rehearsal dinner issues; it's a hassle I'd like to avoid. I also think both sides of the family would be insulted if we picked one sides convenience over the others. My family will be paying for the wedding entirely...but being the support parents they are, they say "have it wherever it makes you happy!". SO...I am considering a two reception option. His family is more religious, so we would get married in Ohio at their family church, followed by a low key (kid friendly) reception at a hotel venue. THEN, the next weekend, he and I would travel to Boston where we would have a cocktail reception for my family. This cocktail reception would include a brief, casual religious blessing by a priest, wedding cake, white dress etc.. to keep the "wedding vibe" alive even though there will be no church aspect. What in the world are your thoughts on this? Weird? Cool? Problems with it? Or maybe you have a new soultion (besides eloping!)
--------------------
Everything you just said sounds perfect! I've known brides who did the exact same thing, but even wore their actual wedding dress for the second reception. We actually have a similar situation. We're having our wedding at my parents home which is halfway across the country. We're doing the ceremony and large reception there. Once we're back home, settled back in, we'll be doing a second reception at a friends clubhouse. It will be a dress-up event, but still very laid back. This is mostly for friends, and extended family that can't make it out to the wedding. It's completely acceptable to do this, and is actually done a lot. Congrats, and have fun!

Christmas Gifts for In-Laws?
I got married this year, and now I need to think of Christmas gifts for my husband's side of the family. He's not really big on Christmas shopping, so I told him I'd do it, but I'm a little stuck. He has two sisters--15 and 18--and I bought them some Bath and Body Works Christmas lotion, and thought maybe I could make them gift baskets. I thought about buying them some Christmas socks, and Christmas M&M's or something to put in the gift basket, but I can't think of anything else. Any ideas?
--------------------
If you got them lostion I would go with a spa like theme,or a relaxing theme. Get them a Christmas sleeping mask and slippers or some comfy pjs. They have adorable pjs at Wal-mart for cheap, or if you budget is a little higher get them Christmas pjs from Victoria Secret with the matching slippers. Any 15 and 18 y/o would love that! And get body spray to go with the lotion! Good Luck!

My hubby's brother is having a baby soon. we wont be able to go see them now, should I send and gift and what?
Ok he is his only brother and older than him by a few yrs. He lives in Canada and we are on good terms with them. I like my SIL and we get along fine. Its not like we are talking on the phone always but she and I talk for hours when we do talk. This is going to be their first baby and its a girl. I was wondering if I should send a gift to them on the day she is born or a couple of days before or after. I really think I should as thats his only sibling and a huge moment of celebration for all of us. I plan to give her something more pricey like baby jewelry when I go to meet the baby myself. But for now my question is, what should I send her? I was thinking about a baby basket? My budget is under $75 and I have seen some baskets but I need something that can be bought online and shipped to Canada. Please help me decide.

That's a great idea, however instead of gift basket you could do a diaper bag basket or baby hamper basket and fill them with lots of great baby things - such as clothes, picture frames, etc. Or what you could do since you haven't met "the baby" yet but know your sister-in-law well, is get her a bunch of things to pamper herself - a spa gift certificate or lotions and goodies, something that will make her feel like herself again and so she can relax after 9 months of pregnancy and 2 weeks of torture (having the baby and being in the hospital and then recovering from lots of stress on her body). Include a note saying how you can't wait to meet the little one, and until you get to see her and pamper them both - you want her to pamper and take care of herself! Sometimes that's really important after the birth of a child - especially the first one. A woman's body goes through lots of uncool things and it's not always a fun experience... For more things to include in the gift basket - go to http://www.newborngiftideas.net/ Good Luck!

Help on gifts for my friends :) ?
So I'm thinking about getting my friends (about 15 of them) cute bath and body gift baskets. So I'm going to go to places like CVS and Bath & Body works and get small sized lotions, shampoo, conditioners, nail polish, nail files, lip gloss, lip balm, maybe lotion, and I'll see what they have in the sample sizes. I'm 13 years old so i'm looking for about $5 each, maybe up to $10. Any other ideas as to what should go in or where I should go? Is this a good idea?

Plastic wrapping a cardboard shape?
This is a follow up question to this one: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;

Wrap it all up as best you can and then "shrink wrap" it with a hair dryer. The heat from the hair dryer makes the plastic shrink.
