what are good gifts for a teen grab bag?

tomorrow is a (late) christmas party with my friends, and i still didnt get a gift yet. I dont want to get a gift card because i think a lot of people will get those. the budget is $20! I was thinking a gift basket from Bath and Body Works? do you have any other ideas?
--------------------
you could go to bath and body works and buy the 2oz versions of body spray, lotion, and shower gel. its usually 4 for 10 though, so hey, merry christmas to you. haha. then go to the dollar tree and get a little basket to put it in, look around. they have really cute lipgloss packs that sin a box with three in it. everything a dollar. get some cute jewelry. yes, they do sometimes have it. socks are always good. i loooove getting socks. they have all kinds of figurines. find a best friend one or just a cute girly one. they have really cute journals, pick one of those up. get a cute pen with designs in it. and there you got. get a basket wrapper bag and some ribbon and place the bag over the basket and tie it up. works like a charm. since you have the bath and body works stuff in there its going to look really good and not like a big basket of junk. =]

Would a basket full of Douches be an acceptable gift for my Secret Santa gift exchange at work?

I found some really yummy smelling Strawberry scented douches at the dollar store, and since we have a ten dollar limit on the gift I thought this might be a thoughtful yet practical gift...

Some people might be offended and embarrassed - but I guess it depends on where you work and the people you work with. I guess it never hurts to be fresh.

What is the worst gift you have ever received?

My SIL once gave me a homemade basket with bright neon purple trim. (My entire house was done in earth tones.) Someone had taken store bought breads and sprayed them with some type of a clear finish. Needless to say, the breads molded.
--------------------
Gift came from the man I was married to at the time: I had been out of town all week. I came home and he handed me a piece a paper with a clue on it. I followed the clue to find other clues hidden around the house. My "gift" was sitting in the bathtub behind the shower curtain. I took one look and was stunned. "Idiot" had gone to the florist and picked out what he thought was a beautiful silk floral arrangement. It was, in fact, what florists refer to as a "cemetary pot". It was an arrangement of silk flowers that you send to a funeral home or buy to place at a grave site!!!! I just looked at him and said, "Are you trying to tell me something?" Needless to say, he returned it!!!

What should I buy a friend of the family (middle-aged woman)?

A friend of the family, a middle-aged woman, has done a lot for me and I would like to thank her with some flowers or a gift basket, but I'm not sure what to send. She lives far from me, so I would need to order it online. Basically, I just was want to show my thanks for everything. Any ideas?
--------------------
Being a "Middle-Aged Woman", I would like to receive a gift basket with chocolates and wine. Flowers die and chocolate is much more enjoyable.(The wine isn't bad either).

What's a diabetes-friendly Father's Day (food) gift?

My father-in-law LOVES to eat and has diabetes. I know a food gift would make him happy, but I don't know what. Obviously, candy, fruit, even bread baskets are out. So what's left?? Should I drop the food idea and just get him something else? Thanks!

Hard to find, usually, but a JAZZ FEST poster makes great wall art. They are usually quite colorful and yet guys won't mind them. Get a CD with Aaron Neville or the Neville Brothers or the Meters (Art Neville's band). Try a Fats Domino "best of" CD. Harry Connick Jr. or Pete Fountain. Or Irma Thomas. (A very classy lady, by the way, not that the others aren't class acts themselves.) Harder to find because not always in print, but there is a Tulane Univ. group called the New Leviathan Oriental Fox Trot Orchestra that is popular here. They have at least 3 or 4 CDs that qualify as "novelty" if nothing else. For that matter, look up CDs by Benny Grunch and the Bunch. Or for the purists, Wynton Marsalis is a Grammy-winning trumpet player who goes jazz or classical. There is Delfeo Marsalis, who plays sax and was the leader of the band on one of the late-night talk shows for a while. Both were taught by their N'Awlins father, Ellis Marsalis, a percussionist. Your problem with begniet mix is not how you mix it but how you cook and serve it. Without a deep fryer and confectioner's sugar, you're going the wrong way. But along the lines of novely food, check with Haydel's bakery and see if they will ship an out-of-season king cake. (It's just a N'Awlins style coffee cake, usually.) Either the plain with a little cinnamon and some frosting, or one of the fruit-filled or creme-filled. It's all good. Now, if you know some of his interests, pick and choose books from these topics... History? Books on the Louisiana Purchase, 1900s Storyville, any of the books by Buddy Stahl. War? Books on Andrew Higgins and the contributions of New Orleans to shipbuilding during WW II. Sports? Anything on the N'Awlins Saints, the NBA Hornets Chess? Books on Paul Morphy, a N'Awlins native and chess grand master. Literature? Although it has a lot of "local" references that pass over everyone's head, try John Kennedy Toole's book "A Confederacy of Dunces." Pulitzer-prize winner. Also, some of Tennessee Williams works were done in our fair city. Many of the Anne Rice "Vampire" series were written while she lived in N'Awlins. Let's not forget that if you use alligator, you are reaching outside the city. Despite popular opinions, alligators don't roam our streets freely. But if you go outside the city, look to Avery Island and Tabasco Sauce. There is also "Louisiana Red Hot" sauce. Community coffee, CDM (Cafe Du Monde) coffee, and Folger's coffee are all made in N'Awlins (though Folger's is a national chain with more than one plant.) Get a picture of the space shuttle during launch. The external fuel tank for the shuttle is made in N'Awlins near the Michoud Assembly Facility. I'll second the opinion of getting something from the zoo or aquarium if your guy friend is into nature. Or get a book on the subject of John James Audubon, an early New Orleanian and famous naturalist. One of our city's parks is named after him.

how would I go about planning this?

I am going to try to plan a "Doggie Day" in my local park. I want my local humane society to bring some dogs that are up for adoption to this. How would I ask them or tell them about my idea? And also, who else might i need permission to do this? maybe the town's major? I was planning on owners bringing there dogs to the park. There would be games for the owners and there dogs, prizes, donations to the humane society, gift basket occasions, and it would give people a chance to maybe adopt a dog. any other ideas?

First you need a permit from the town clerk. Then contact the animal shelter to operate a fundraiser in their name.

What is a good gift for my broke and financially struggling boyfriend?

My boyfriend is extremely strapped for cash this year, due to recently being laid off. He's relatively young (in his 20s), and is barely getting by. He is barely able to pay his rent, and very rarely ever has anything left over for food, gas, entertainment, etc. I am thinking that, because of the situation he's in, I'd really love to do something for him for Christmas to help even just a little bit. My two ideas are either getting him a nice wallet full of tons of gift cards for gas, grocery stores, etc. or else making him a really nice, huge gift basket of basic everyday essentials that he needs. Would these be good ideas, or would it come across as offensive? I'm also thinking of getting him a DVD he'd like, but I'm more-so concerned with getting him basic things that he is having to go without. Are there any more ideas out there that might be more subtle?
--------------------
My name is Hope too :) Honestly, I think both of those are fairly god ideas. He shouldn't be offended by those gifts, instead he should appreciate the gesture and know you gave him those things out of love. I would give him a mix of both. If you do a stocking for him you can stuff it with essentials like toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shaving cream, razors, etc without it seeming really obvious, make sure to include his favorite kinds of candy as well. Then get him a nice wallet and fill it with a gas and grocery card, then get him a shirt and maybe a few other small things. He will appreciate luxury items as well because I am sure he is not splurging on himself at all right now. Good luck!

Marine gift idea? How come didn't I receive phone call from my fiance?

I am engaged to my Jar head (Marine recon) who has been in Iraq for a little over 1 month. I haven't received any phone calls from him. The other girl from our support group has received several phone calls already, and her husband is a regular Marine officer. There were many people told me that no news is good news, but I couldn't sleep, and I had bad dreams about him getting hurt. I couldn't concentrate. I kept on dreaming about his body parts fly all over the places, stuff like that. I don't get any support from my family who thinks I made a mistake by having a relationship with him. They think my future is doomed. Right now, it is only me myself and a hope that I will see him soon. How can I find out if he's safe? Also, I have his address, it is a APO/FPO address, do you think sending him a gift basket full of chocolates, cookies, little cakes, and some DVDs is a good idea? thank you
--------------------
Dont sweat it too much, the reason the other girl has gotten calls is because her husband is an officer. Your fiance is an enlisted man comes with alot of restrictions, he'll call when he gets the chance but I bet he's got his hands full right now. I dont think sending chocolate or any foods that dont do well in heat is a good idea but anything solid and small and a reminder of you is great, send him some photo's of your smiling face. Good luck hope you hear from him soon.

Baby Gift Basket (With hand-knit trinkets)?

I have a neighbor who is having a baby and thought it would be nice to give them a girft basket full of hand-knit goodies... But I need patterns! Here's a list of what I want to make - Blanket Bib Hat Booties I'd like to have some links to patterns that are listed that I can make myself - free pattern (I don't have a job (I'm only 11)) beginner or easy, and low on time consumption (Baby shower is on the 13th? of July (Not a whole lot of time)) Thanks so much to all who respond!

What was your favourite shower gift?

I was going to make a diaper cake for my friends baby shower since my sister made me one and I loved it! But I guess my idea was too good because a 'friend' of mine instantly took the idea as her own. But I'd rather not be petty about it...time to think of a new idea haha. I liked it because it was cheap since I don't have a lot of money. I have a baby bath that my son used and I was going to make a gift basket using the bath instead of a traditional basket. I also have a car seat toy that he barely used to put in there and some unopened lotions and bath stuff. What other cheap things could I include? Does this sound like a good idea? What was your favourite shower gift? Thanks :)
--------------------
I would still use the bath tub and just fill it with lots of diapers and wipes. Or.... You could always go to accouple of garage sales and buy her some second hand toys for when the baby gets a little older. All that stuff cleans up nicely with a little soap and water. I'm sure she would appreciate anything you give her!

Themed Gift Basket for Girlfriend...Need More Stuff!?

For Christmas I'm getting my gf a gift basket theme thing based on places she has connections to, I think i have some good main stuff but I definitely need some more small stuff to fill out the gift basket. My question: Do you think this a good enough gift from a boyfriend of about 6 months or do I need more 'big' stuff in this basket. Is this a good idea in general or should I scrap it and go another way? What little stuff can I throw in her to fill out the gift basket? Here's the main stuff I have so far: 1. A bottle of California Wine (because shes originally from the Bay Area in Cali, not far from wine country), 2. A box of her favorite Taiwanese food (these little meat/bread rolls) from her mother's hometown (her parents are from Taiwan) 3. A small framed poster of Paris with pink as its main color, and theres a close up of a girls high heeled shoes in it. Hard to explain, but Paris is her favorite city and she loves shoes (so does every girl, but she REALLY does). 4. She also loves Vegas, so I got her another framed poster of the famous Vegas sign (she has nothing on her walls in her apt so these posters are functional too). This poster is big, so it'll be separate from the actual 'basket'. The only other place I was thinking about using is Japan because shes sort of into the culture (not like the anime stuff or anything though).
--------------------
aww! that's so sweet! is she's the type of girl to appreciate these thoughtful things, then keep piling it up! but do you think she's materialistic? like you said, she loves shoes, and other girly stuff. she might get disappointed. but i guess it's the thought that counts. and slow down on going "big", since you're just going out for 6 mos, but it sounds you're pretty serious. well, you could go big on your anniversary. and i'll just remind you, it's pretty hard to top your gift ideas in the future, so don't go all "big", you still wanna surprise her in the future. well, you could make her sushi or maki rolls, that would blow her away, since most guys don't cook. oh by the way, you could also give her something to remember you by, i mean, the wine and taiwan food would be consumed, the posters would just be there. so maybe a little bracelet? yeah, bracelet from japan, that would be cool. goodluck man. you're so sweet! keep it up. :)

a collage of both of your pictures filled with loving memories. Diary of fondness of the little things he does for you. Then include some necessities, stuff he's been hoping for to get all year, (i.e. ball game tickets, new wallet, concert tickets, membership... use your imagination and attention to detail). Then the basket up with home made sweets (find out if he likes sweets or salt stuff), cook some up the day before, make sure they still taste good on the 14th, finally, get some hallmark cards, ribbons and stickers to decorate the outside of the wrap for the basket. On the handle, attach a poem that tells him "you are the love of my life" or sentimental wording that is well fitting for the relationship you are in. Best of luck to you.

Gift Basket Ideas?

My sister is graduating from college and I want to get her a really nice gift basket. I don't want it to be mainly composed of food or anything, so what should I put in it? Any ideas?
--------------------
Put things in it that she loves; like her favorites of everything: candy, perfume, lotion, bath salts, lip gloss, hair products, nail polish, etc. Or maybe find out what her favorite odor or flavor is and put everything pertaining to that. I have a friend and we have an inside joke about Watermelons. Anyway, I sent him a gift box with everything watermelon flavored, scented, etc. It was the best. Does she dream of visiting somewhere specific? Maybe fill a basket with books/information about the place(s) she hopes to one day travel to. The possibilities are endless.....

--------------------
You can buy mini barrels on eBay or from http://www.1000oaksbarrel.com/. People use these to further mature whisk(e)y. Because they are smaller than the usual barrels used for maturation, a great proportion of the liquid is in contact with the wood surface and it matures faster.

Any suggestions on what gifts you can give to a wealthy person when they have already everything.?

I don't know what gifts to be given on their special occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, christmas.Something which they will appreciate. I need some suggestions hence I'm tired of giving them a basket of fruits, foods and cakes. Any suggestions please. Thanks.
--------------------
How well do you know this person? Do you know their likes/dislikes/hobbies/interests/etc.? I had a boss who was... well, not in the "donald trump" class, but he was well "padded." For his birthday, I asked his son (who also worked at the firm where I was his father's secretary) what sort of "snack foods" he liked. "Red pistachios." So I purchased a very classy tall, glass jar and filled it with 3 lbs of RED pistachios. HE LOVED IT, and dug RIGHT in! For Christmas, well.. I knew he raised and raced racing pigeons. I went to a "trophy" store... you know the kind where all the bowling trophies, ribbons, etc. are gotten... and I searched their catalogs for a very handsome "Presentation Mug"... it was a regularly sized mug, but "substantial" indeed! It had a spot on the front where a medallion could be attached for whatever sport it was presented for... and I found one with a pigeon. Then, on the base was a small engraving plaque. I had his name handsomely engraved on it. Well... he was just FLOORED by it! He couldn't keep his hands off of it! And after Christmas, when his wife had called him at work, and I had answered the phone, she just HAD to compliment me on that wonderful mug, and she asked, "HOW do you get these ideas?" Well... this is how... I knew his interests, likes, hobbies, and gave it some thought. Oh, the pistachios gift totalled about $30 for jar and nuts, and the mug, believe it or not, was about the same price... so you don't need to spend a LOT of money to make a BIG impression! I hope this helps! Have a polite day.

My boyfriend won't do those sweet little things for me- what do I do?

My boyfriend of over a year is very sweet, funny, good looking- is an all around good catch. However, he doesn't see the necessity of doing sweet little things for me- for ex, his brother went on one date with a girl, and she's going out of town for the weekend, so he made her a gift basket of magazines, candy, etc for the plane ride. I thought that was so sweet! My boyfriend has never done anything like that for me. Don't get me wrong, he takes me out to eat and stuff- and I am grateful for this- but he thinks it is enough. I don't have to have the "sweet little things", but BOY, it sure it would make me feel special to know he actually thought about me when he wasn't around me, for once. Any advice? I'm not trying to be petty, either, so no haters, please. We are in our early twenties. Oh yeah, I got him an Ipod for his birthday, and he got me a showerhead for mine (three weeks later). Should I just learn to live with his lack of effort?

tell him that the little things matter the most to you and that you would be happy if he gave you things just for no reson sometimes.

Beef Summer Sausage Recipe?

I'm going to hand make my dad a gift basket for Christmas with things he LOVES. I really wanted to make a beef summer sausage for him, and then buy one from Hickory Farms or whatever. Does anyone know a good recipe? Any other ideas as to what I could make (Cheeseballs etc) to throw in there? Thanks!
--------------------
this one is from Associated Content Beef Summer Sausage Recipe : This recipe will take 20 minutes of prep time, 2 hr 40 minutes of cook time and will be ready in 1 day 3 hrs. The recipe will yield 5 summer sausage logs. Ingredients you will need: 5 pounds ground beef 4 tablespoons meat tenderizer 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper 2 teaspoons ground black pepper 3 teaspoons garlic powder 3 teaspoons brown sugar 2 1/2 teaspoons mustard powder 2 teaspoons whole black peppercorns 4 teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring Mixing Directions: Step 1: Use a large bowl to combine the ground beef, meat tenderizer, cayenne pepper, ground black pepper, garlic powder, brown sugar, mustard powder and the whole peppercorns. Mix all of these ingredients well. Now finish by pouring the liquid smoke over the mixture but do not mix. Step 2: Cover the mixture up and refrigerate for 24 hours. Baking Directions: Step 1: Preheat oven to 150 degrees. Step 2: Remove the mixture from the refrigerator and proceed to mix it all up well. Now roll the mixture out into 1 1/2 x 9 inch logs. Place these logs onto a 9x13 inch baking dish. Step 3: Bake logs for 4 hours. Remove them from the oven and allow to cool before serving. I like cheese logs better than the balls, they look better after dipping into them. Try different wines in you cheese mixture. Here is a link you can loo at lots of different ideas depending on what your Dad likes http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&clien…

Is this a good gift idea?

Ok, my twin's birthday is coming up in just under two weeks and I have an idea, but I need your opinion on it. Thanks in advance. I was thinking of buying a basket and putting Reese's (her favourite candy), a rhinestone ring (she has an obsession with rings) and a book by David Sedaris (apparently he's a really funny writer and my sister has a great sense of humor and loves to read). Is this good or should I add something else?

Sounds like you thought through what she likes, should be good. Just make sure she doesn't out do you =)

Birthday presents for 14 year old girls. <3?

Okay; so one of my very best friend's birthday was today. WHOOPS:/ I wanna make her a cute little gift basket with item she'd like in it. Any ideas? She is inlove with neon colors, art's & crafts's, cute hair accessories.... etc. Help please. :D
--------------------
get a fair sized basket and fill it with beauty items such as makeup, neon nail polish, accessories, perfumes, lotions and maybe even candles. you can also put in things such as face masks. put in her favorite candies, and even a book related to her favorite genre in there, or if she is more of the music type you can buy her a cd. that would make it like a complete fun basket.

I need a cute baby poem to add to a gift basket.?

A friend of mine who recently got married will be having their first child this August. Its a boy and they are very nervous and excited. i purchased a baby bag and filled it with lots of things they will need. i want to enclude perhaps a cute poem or sum sort of homemade craft for the parents to be but cant find anything good. anyone have any ideas?
--------------------
ABC Baby Poem (CJ wrote this in just two hours) A is for angel, sent from above, B is for baby, smothered with love, C is for cute as cute can be D is for diapers and changing them for me E is for everything baby and more F is for father walking the floor G is for glad you are finally here H is for hiccups that are funny and dear I is for icky sticky messing J is for Jesus and His blessing K is for kisses and kindness and keep L is for Love, so wide and deep M is for Mommy and her loving arms N is for Never coming to harm O is for oat cereal and later Cheerios P is for precious little fingers and toes Q is for quiet, baby is sleeping R is for relatives, always come peeping S is for sleep, but not for your folks T is for tub and all those long soaks U is for unconditional as in love from your parents V is for very active as you will soon merit W is for wakeful, watchful and wise X is for the Xtra special light you brought to our eyes Y is for you - who is as bright as the sun Z is for zest of living that you gave us, little one. Baby Face (adapted from an old song) Baby Face, you've got the cutest little baby face, There's no other who could take your place, Baby Face, my poor heart is jumpin' you sure have started somethin' Baby Face, I'm in heaven when I'm in your small embrace. We didn't need a shove, Cause we just fell in love, With your pretty baby face! Babies Have so Much to Do In a world that's all brand-new, Babies have so much to do! Laughing, making funny faces, Finding out those ticklish places... Cuddling up and wiggling toes, Looking cute in tiny clothes... Tasting, touching, reaching high, Crawling under, scooting by... Learning words and having fun... Making memories one by one. A Baby's Skies Would you know the baby's skies? Baby's skies are mother's eyes Mother's eyes and smile together Make the baby's pleasant weather. Mother, keep your eyes from tears Keep your heart from foolish fears Keep your lips from dull complaining Lest the baby think it's raining. Perfection you are more perfect than I could have hoped, more beautiful than I could have dreamed, more precious than I could have imagined... ...I love you more than I could have known baby song (Diane Woolley) At first you didn't lift your head; You didn't know to smile. The time before you knew my voice Seemed such a long, long while. I couldn't wait for you to roll, And then to sit and clap. And now you're off and crawling, Not helpless in my lap. Why didn't someone tell me How fast a baby grows, That every little baby stage Soon comes, but sooner goes. So I'll enjoy the fleeting time Before you learn to walk. And treasure every tiny noise Before you learn to talk. For soon you'll learn to walk, Then run, And talk and sing a song, And never be my babe again. The babe's forever gone. Little baby, take your time, For while you're tiny, you are mine. Baby (Helen Steiner Rice) A wee bit of heaven drifted down from above - A handful of happiness, a heartful of love. The mystery of life, so sacred and sweet - The giver of joy so deep and complete. Precious and priceless, so lovable, too - The world's sweetest miracle, baby, is you. Rock-a-bye Baby (by Ruth Hulbert Hamilton adapted by Wendy Lyn) Cleaning and scrubbing can wait 'til tomorrow For babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow. So quiet down cobwebs, Dust go to sleep, I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep. Star (Dessie Reeves, 10/21/04 - used with permission) Star is our beautiful baby girl with a tiny soul so sweet and new, That your Daddy and I knew that the world was waiting for an adorable little girl just like you... Blessings Blessings come in many shapes, In sizes large and small, But a brand new little baby is the sweetest of them all. All You Are (by Michael Card - based on a poem by George MacDonald) Where did you get those eyes so blue? They're from the sky that you passed through. Where did you get that little tear? Did you find that it was waiting for you here? And what about your little nose? He knew you'd need it for the rose. And as for your soft curly ear, He knew there would be songs for you to hear. How can it be that you are you? He thought you up and so you grew. Because you're mine, it must be true That He was also thinking of me too. For all you are, and all you'll be, For everything you mean to me, Though I don't understand, I know you're from the Father's hand. "If I could speak, here's what I would say..." (C. Knauf 2003 - used with permission from the author) If I could speak, here's what I would say Happy in your arms, I want to stay. I am your gift, and you are mine too! Let love bond together, both me and you. Lets enjoy this time, right here, right now. Don't let a schedule furrow your brow. Right now is the time, for me to hold, when you're less busy, I'll be too old. Snuggle me tenderly, close to your chest it is here next to you, I am, at my best. Your rhythmic breathing and beating heart, Contentment, and comfort, to me impart. To see you, smell you, assured by your voice, all, wonderfully simple, yet help me rejoice. A cuddle, a kiss, some playful fun and frolic, Can banish a mood, and prevent nasty colic. Hold me, hug me, please show me your day You'll be sharing your love, in a marvelous way. My learning is best when perched at your side with arms as my classroom and you as my guide. Please hold me up high, so I might see All the many wonders, surrounding me. With time spent close, as you socialize, My mind expands and clearly I vocalize! When you work, walk or take a short trip With me safely balanced, upon your hip My muscle tone and self esteem are greater, I'll be walking much sooner, rather than later. When we are in 'touch', it reduces our stress We are happiest then, and worry much less. Safe in your arms, dispels all my fears. My beaming smiles, replace anxious tears. To dream of our future is significant too, And I know a career is important to you. When I am older, then we'll join in the race We'll be more able, to keep up the pace. Right now, what I know, as certain and right Is that you are my sun, the source of my light. I don't need many things, expensive or new. What I need is your love, your time and you. What a Baby Costs How much do babies cost? Said he The other night upon my knee; And then I said: "They cost a lot; A lot of watching by a cot, A lot of sleepless hours and care, A lot of heartache and despair, A lot of fear and trying dread, And sometimes many tears are shed In payment for our babies small, But everyone is worth it all. For babies people have to pay A heavy price from day to day - There is no way to get one cheap, Why, sometimes, when they're fast asleep You have to get up in the night And go and see that they're all right, But what they cost in constant care And worry, does not half compare With what they bring of joy and bliss, You'd pay much more for just a kiss. Who buys a baby has to pay A portion of the bill each day; He has to give his time and thought Unto the little one he's bought He has to stand a lot of pain Inside his heart and not complain; And pay with lonely days and sad For all the happy hours he's had. All this a baby costs, and yet His smile is worth it all, you bet."

Economic Bailout Gag Gift/Gift Basket?

I want to start a gift giving chain in my neighborhood with the theme of, "your personal economic bailout". I will start by annonymously placing four gifts on different neighbor's doorsteps with a letter instructing them to in turn design and give a gift to two other neighbors. I wanted to include a list of gift giving ideas. My only idea so far was a night in instead of a night out and I was going to include a homemade brownie mix with instructions and perhaps a very cheap bottle of wine. Any other ideas?

am i supposed to by a christmas gift for the mother of my daughter?

my daughters mother and I do not get along, but i was told that i should buy her a christmas gift. She is with someone else now, but i am not. I do not want to purchase something and then make it seem like I want to be with her. i could care less if i received anything from her and i feel she thinks the same. if i am supposed to get something, what should i buy? maybe one of those baskets from bath and body works? i am clueless and maybe putting too much thought into this.
--------------------
You do not need to buy her anything. A previous answerer had the right idea in taking your daughter shopping for her mother if she is too young to do so herself. This gift doesn't have to be anything big, but it will mean a lot more to your daughter than to her mother. Anything you can do to show your daughter that you respect her love for her mother will mean a lot to her. You don't have to get along with her mother, just respect the fact that your daughter loves her mother. Her mother will also understand your care and love for your daughter by getting your daughter a nice gift. Getting the mother a gift will be somewhat confusing for all involved, especially your daughter. So just be kind, you don't have to go out of your way to be nice, but make sure you are not rude or mean or say anything in the presence of your daughter that is negative toward her mother. Otherwise your daughter may build resentment toward you, whether she realizes it or not, and then your relationship with her will suffer.

Ideas for reusing a large wicker basket?

I recently won a contest and got a huge gift basket filled with cleaning supplies... It was the second place prize... the first being my dream honey moon.. sighhh oh well. Anyway, I have a large square wicker basket that it came in and it's just beautiful but does anyone have ideas on how to reuse it?
--------------------
I use baskets all over my home. There is one in the dining room for magazines and books, one in the bath for guest towels and lotions, one in the mud room for mittens and scarves and one in the family room for dog toys-another in the family room for hand held video games and remotes-and one by the back door for newspapers and mail

My boyfriends birthday is coming up and I think am gonna make a gift basket for him. what should I put in?

I know I am gonna get him some clothes and his favorite candy and a couple of other things. I am considering putting some cologne and toothpaste and self hygiene type things in it. I think they would be good to put in it but I don't want him to think he smells or something because I put those things in there. should I include them in the gift basket or not? and any other suggestions to put in it? I am hoping to make it a little bit personal too and NOT make it look like my mom made it. thanks :)
--------------------
Would not go with the toothpaste. Retro candy would be good A large gift box would be better than a basket in this case I think

Send gift to friend out of the blue for Christmas?

Would it be acceptable to send a gift to someone who I haven't seen or talked to in several months? I'm contemplating sending him an Organic Fruit Basket from Harry & David for Christmas, but I'm not sure if it would be odd to send it out of the blue and make for an uncomfortable situation. I'd like for it to be a surprise. After all, it is the thought that counts. Please let me know what you think. Thank you.
--------------------
Personally, I'd very much enjoy a gift out of the blue from an old friend. If you're just sending it to be nice, then something like a fruit basket sounds like a perfect idea. It's simple, friendly, and not too personal all at the same time, so it won't be awkward. If you'd like to set up some type of communication with your friend though, or if you're trying to get close with that friend again then I'd suggest sending him something a bit more thoughtful. A letter with baseball tickets for the two of you would be nice, in my opinion. My friend actually did that exact thing a few years back, we hadn't talked in about 8 months and he sent those as an early Birthday present. We've been going to the local pub every week together since. I hope my opinions have helped. -Jonathan Gier

Anybody making homemade gifts for Christmas?

If so, what are you making? I am thinking about making gift baskets full of goodies for my family and friends: Chocolates, candies, cookies, muffins.
--------------------
We've been doing this every year for about 10 years for the relatives who have too much stuff already so we've kinda become experts on who likes what in our gift giving circle. First, to save money we skip the baskets and save up a few cardboard boxes in the sizes we'll need and decorate it using plain white or brown paper and then hot glue on holiday embellishments like pinecones, and real pine branches and small ornaments and stuff. They always look pretty and are well received. For the goodies, we like to do the standard bread and cookies but have found over the years that food mixes in a jar are really popular. You can find mixes for brownies, cookies, soups and even meals by searching on the web. Our most popular food mix in a jar is by far Beef Stroganoff mix in a jar which you can find at http://kidoozy.com/project_page.php?ID=3… Our family and friends look forward to just that each year. Jams and jellies and any foods that have a shelf life are very popular since people already have alot of food to eat around the holidays, and foods that can be saved for later are appreciated. Then we personalize each basket by buying a small something or two that we know the person really likes and doesn't treat themselves to often. Special teas, or candy bars, or for example we always throw in a unique hot sauce and pepperoni for my father in law, and stationery for my neice who is away at college. Just think outside the box and personalize the baskets to each individual or family and I'm sure you'll come up with some really special baskets to give out this year. Good luck.

Guys, what would you like to receive in a gift basket?

I am putting together a gift basket for my 38 y/o BF and so far I have a gift cards from I-tunes and Blockbuster. He loves Dunkin Donuts coffee so I am getting a pound of that, and his new puppy chewed his slippers so a new pair will go in there as well...he really is not into sports and basically buys himself everything he needs. Guys, What are some other things you'd like to receive in addition to what I have already? Any thoughts on what I have so far? He tends to favor the practical side....

I like the basket idea! I'm so stealing it. My boyfriend's getting a basket now! lol

Mother's Day Gift Ideas (read below)?

Mother's day is not till next month, but time flies by so quickly, and I would really want to get an early start because my mother is extremely hard to shop for. I would like to give something PRACTICAL to her....the keyword is practical....something she can use. Please exclude the following: candles, perfume, lotion, blankets, mattresses, poems, songs, photos, collages, spa day or going out, shoes, clothes, jewelry, hair stuff, garden decor, window stuff, anything that has to do with the house or decorations, blenders, kitchen stuff, entertainment (cds and dvds), food, purses, watches, gift certificates or gift cards, money, electronics, blowdryer, sunglasses, gift baskets, keychains, anything to do with car kits because she does not have a car and I can't afford to buy her one and plus she does not know how to drive and no I do not want to buy a lesson to learn how to drive, picture frames, sewing kits, baskts, anything home-made, etc. Told you it was hard!
--------------------
I'll have to suggest www.creanta.com They turn any image, including your favorite photograph into an amazing and affordable hand made painting. Maybe one of her? Or one of her and you? What I liked of them is that they at reeeeaally good at capturing the physical likeness. Not to mention very, very affordable. I was very impressed with the results. In addition to portrait paintings they also do paintings of pets, landscapes and anything that means something to you (like your first car, favorite vacation spot, etc). They're the nicest people… because I was late with my friend's gift, they even hand made a custom card to notify her that a special gift was coming her way. I highly recommend them. Best wishes!!

I'm making a Coca-Cola gift basket for him for Valentine's Day. Besides soda, what should I include?

His very favorite non-alcholic drink in the entire world is Coca-Cola. For our first date he drank a medium one at the movie and had another one with dinner. I'm on a diet and so is he. I cut out carbs and he is limiting himself to 2 Cokes a day! hehehe I was thinking for Valentine's Day to make him a Coke gift basket. I already got him a 6-pack of 20oz Cokes. I'm gonna look at the dollar store for green Coke glasses. After Christmas, I bought a bag of red, silver, and green kisses. The red and silver ones will be used for something else. I was thinking of filling the green glasses with the green wrapped kisses. What else should I put in the Coca-Cola gift basket?
--------------------
Maybe some other Coca-Cola themed thing, like a t-shirt.

DIY Christmas Baskets - Need some ideas/suggestions?

For X-mas this year my husband and I decided to have a family dinner at our home (which will cost at LEAST $150.00) so we are doing familt gift baskets for everyone. I've looked at several local stores, ad decided I'd like to put them together myself to personalize them a bit, but cannot vome up with any ideas. Any suggestions would be helpful. I don't plan to personalize them alot, just small things I knwo my SIL, and other family will like.
--------------------
You can do themes depending on the person's interests. Do they like movies? A $10 gift card for a local movie rental place, a couple of packs of microwave popcorn, and maybe some popcorn seasoning, a pack of licorice, or whatever snacks they like. Do they like books? A gift card from a book store, a book mark or two, a list of recommended books (this can be found on line or at your library, tailored to their reading tastes - I know I'm always trying to find new authors I might like), a couple of packs of hot chocolate or tea, or small packs of coffee - what you need to sit down, have a hot drink and a good read. Do they like gardening? Seed packs, small clay pots, work gloves, etc. Cooking? Specialty pasta and sauce, specialty sea salt, really good olive oil, etc. New house? A book on decorating or easy home repairs, a gift card for a local DIY store, work gloves, etc. New baby, new dog, etc. etc. etc. It's harder to come up with something different for everyone, but, to me, ultimately more rewarding for the recipient. One other thing: To keep costs down - don't spend a lot of money on the basket or wrapping material. Most of the baskets are never used anyways, so try to come up with alternative containers - either something that is a part of the gift (a popcorn bowl for the movie lovers, a large plat pot for the gardener, etc.), or something that is inexpensive, like a large gift bag. Good luck, be creative, and have fun!

Help with Dad Christmas gift - VERY hard to buy for - PLEASE HELP!!!!!!?

Good looking, 55 yr. old VP of construction firm. He has everything he needs or wants! He drinks beer (only) and smokes cigars but only a certain kind (gift baskets with various types are not an option - I've tried). He restored a car, but it's perfected and nothing I could know is needed. ('57 Bel Aire) He works with tools but owns every type - probably more than one, he's already told me that. He wears cologne, but can't smell! He's a freemason, but I've exhausted all gifts that relate He golfs, but has brand new clubs, bag, shoes, magazine subscr. He already stocks up on golf balls and tees. He has a brand new computer, and doesn't care for any other tech-related items. He buys new clothes all the time and hates my taste (he's a bit, um, unstylish) He's fun - but have jokingly bought him nerf guns, portable videogames and remote control cars in the past. No hunting or fishing or bowling. He loves food - but a "meat and potatoes" type of guy - one that already has Omaha steaks deliver all the time. No sweet tooth. Will not watch a movie twice, nor tv shows. He gets gift cards from clients all the time. No ties. Renovating the house - well, hired help is He gardens, but barely. Tomatoes and squash only, I think. Likes jewelry, but his taste is not affordable. Doesn't care for sports - goes to some NFL games, but not a true "fan" New wallet. His type of watches wouldn't suit my budget. He already has a stack of books he claims to be "getting a start on" Mom deals with decor. Nothing like that would be of interest. No work gear and he has a company car. GPS, cell phone and accessories are redundant. Travels so much for work, he doesn't care to go for pleasure. Travel items - luggage, travel pillows, etc. would never be used. He's practical. We have a huge inground pool. Mom buys the fun stuff, and other people come to clean. We have a game room - likes billards and darts - new balls, cues, chalk-holder even. Table was recently recovered and whole dartboard set-up is new. Has an outdoor firepit - had two, gave me one- He already have me his old patio furniture that was from this summer, he didn't like it. He has all the music he cares for, I've tried to buy him some and he either already had it or didn't care b /c he has satellite radio. Would not be caught dead at a concert. Does his own lawn, oddly enough. He has all the needs, like mower, leaf blower, weed eater, pesticides... ANY other ideas? In reality he's fun but honestly has all the necessities. Therefore, I need a unique gift that isn't generic - but must be practical too. He's not a fan of "gifting for the sake of gifting." Also, not religious.
--------------------
So he has a fully restored 57 Chevy. You don't put in that kind or time or money into an old car unless you like old cars. There are a lot of places online that sell parts for old cars. They also sell other really neat stuff that relate to old cars. Shirts, hats, keychains, jewelery, lighters, chairs, clocks.....literally anything you can think of. Try them, you might find something there.

"You have a gift my friend, don't hide it under a bushel basket!" Origin?

Where does this quote come from? "You have a gift my friend, don't hide it under a bushel basket!" Any help would be appreciated.
--------------------
The Biblical allusion is that if you have a light, you don't put it under a bushel, you put it on a candlestick. Matthew 5:15, Mark 4:21, Luke 11:33. It's not the exact phrase you've asked, but it's the same imagery. If you put that phrase into a web search surrounded by quotes, you'll find it used on a number of blogs--but none seems to be the originator, and I don't find those precise words in Bartlett's Quotations. So I think it's just a common paraphrase.

Include ingredient list in gift basket?

I am making a gift basket for a benefit silent auction. It will be filled with items that I canned myself. All the prep was done to FDA Guidelines. The basket will include: Mild Salsa Hot Salsa Dilly Beans Dill Pickle Spears Dill Pickle Slices Whole italian Dill Pickles Bread and Butter Pickles Sweet Pickle Relish Blueberry Jam Apple Sauce Apple Butter All of the vegetables were grown in my garden or bought from a local farmer including the spices 100% organic. Should I include and ingredient list for these items in the basket?
--------------------
Yes, but make it a low key kind of list. You are not selling these gift baskets in a store so I don't think you should have to go overboard with your list. However, I think that if you write a brief message about how you put this basket together your self out of ingrediants from your own garden and farmers markets that you could get people to bid more for your basket given the current trend favoring locally made goods. But please keep it brief! I 'd write a paragraph about how you are local person that put everything together the way you did. Then in the next paragraph do an ingrediant list.

Would you want to receive this gift? ...give this gift?

I'm about to move forward with my healthy gourmet gift basket business, and I'd like to know your thoughts - do I have a market? A fine selection of the following for eg.: tea, coffee, cookies, chocolates, all the pantry ingredients ie rice, beans, spices, sauces to make an Italian, Indian or Mexican meal, honey, pickles, antipasto, dried fruit, nuts - the selection goes on.... upon inspection you realize that all these goodies are all healthy -either low g.i., easy and slow to digest/process, gluten free, organic, sugar free, high protein, high fibre, low fat - whatever combo supports your healthy lifestyle. Your gift may also come with spa goodies, fruit, wine or gift certicates for in home services ie: cleaning co., mani pedi spa services, hair wash and set, btw: I'd like to offer useful containers ie: trays, boxes, bowls, hat boxes, decorative storage containers, white cake box towers and tote bags instead of the traditional baskets with the handles. What do you think? Would you want to receive this gift, give this gift? Your comments are appreciated. Thank you!

what can i put in a gift basket for my boyfriend?

My boyfriend and i will be celebrating our one year anniversary next month and ive thought about making him a gift basket, he's 17 and i would like to give him a fun and romantic gift basket. I want to give him things he would like but i would also like something sentimental in there too, something romantic, ive already made him a scrapbook of us for valentines day. Ive found two things that i want to put in it: Guns 'n' Roses live era CD + a Guns 'n' Roses tshirt. He loves his music, G'N'R, Izzy Stradlin, Blink 182, Slash .. that sort of thing. He also races, Motorbikes. His fave racer is valentino rossi but ive bought him a few things to do with motorbikes (valentino rossi autographed print, valentino rossi metal bike ornament, valentino rossi hoodie) i dont know what else i can add to the gift basket, any ideas?

Does buying a chocolate gift basket?

encourage gluttony, a sin, and if he/she thanks you generously and then gets "high" from eating more than enough, will you be solely responsible for that person sinning? Chocolate's really good and I ordered a basket full of chocolates - Ghirardelli and Godiva - for my step-mom as a Mother's Day gift. Should I cancel the order and get her flowers, or a fruit basket instead? Or does a fruit basket encourage gluttony as well? (I saw stupid questions like this and I don't understand if they were serious or not, but how in the heck can a generous gift be considered as a sin? I'm asking this sarcastically but I would LOVE to hear what you Christians have to say.)

if you are really fealing generous you can order me one as well,i can eat the whole box non-stop.we love you all,the holy family.

I need ideas for a creative Christmas gift basket. I'll give 10 points for the best answer!?

For my family Christmas, we play a dice game and buy presents around $20, usually a little more. I need an idea for my boyfriend to bring a guy's gift. To give you an idea of the type of presents we get here are a few samples. My gift basket is for a girl and is called the "Winter Survival" gift basket. I made a no-sew fleece blanket, included a matching mug, hot chocolate packets, french vanilla snowman shaped marshmellows, tomato soup, chicken noodle soup, saltine crackers, and Reeses bells. My dad's gift this year is the "As Seen on TV" basket. He has things in their like the Aqua Globes, Slap Chop, gloves that peel potatoes, andBacon Magic. Last year he did the "Man Basket" and it had some huge steaks and potatoes, salad mix, and ranch dressing.

how about a gift basket of baked goodies-cookies, cupcakes, brownies and flavored teas and coffee?i am sure they will like it.Try searching yeolesweets on the web. They got some gift choices/variations for inspiration.

Is La Bella Baskets a scam? I've been hearing a lot about this company lately, but don't know much about it.?

If anyone has personal experience with this company please let me know. It looks like it may be a great business opportunity. I heard about it on my friends Facebook page. Here's the link if anyone is interested: http://www.mylabellabaskets.com/JenellO.html. I've been looking for an online business opportunity for quite some time now & think this one may just be the one! I just need to find out more about it before I make my final decision. The gift baskets & flowers are beautiful! I just may order a few for some upcoming events this summer. Here's their online store where you can purchase gifts or become an affiliate. I'm curious if anyone else would order gift baskets online through a company like this? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. It is a real company and it is a good business. I did it for a bit but my personal life blew up so I stopped. You can make money. You do have to work for it but that's to be expected.

I love making homemade gifts, but I'm open to any ideas. I've already done a scrapbook, a coupon book, and last year I did a gift basket with candy, cookies, heart shaped brownies and rice krispie treats, boxers, scratch-off tickets, and other small things. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much :)

Would this be a good Eagle Scout Project?

One of my ideas would to make a whole bunch of holiday gift baskets to our troops in the middle east, or make a bunch of health or toy baskets for homeless American, or Iraqi children. Personally I think Iraqi children would work, since its a war zone over there.

Go to an aminal shelter and take pictures and try and advertise them to get good homes. Maybe get the pictures printed in a little booklet with some information and pass them out. Shelters need things to be donated too.

--------------------
aww! that's so sweet! is she's the type of girl to appreciate these thoughtful things, then keep piling it up! but do you think she's materialistic? like you said, she loves shoes, and other girly stuff. she might get disappointed. but i guess it's the thought that counts. and slow down on going "big", since you're just going out for 6 mos, but it sounds you're pretty serious. well, you could go big on your anniversary. and i'll just remind you, it's pretty hard to top your gift ideas in the future, so don't go all "big", you still wanna surprise her in the future. well, you could make her sushi or maki rolls, that would blow her away, since most guys don't cook. oh by the way, you could also give her something to remember you by, i mean, the wine and taiwan food would be consumed, the posters would just be there. so maybe a little bracelet? yeah, bracelet from japan, that would be cool. goodluck man. you're so sweet! keep it up. :)

Check out some of the stuff on www.giftboxesbymail.com Specifically the "Mesage in a bottle". They allow you to write whatever you want on the scroll inside and send it directly to the recipient. Now there's a unique and creative idea! And the best part is, unlike a teddy bear or something like that, he won't be ashamed to display it. Just an idea. Good luck! www.giftboxesbymail.com

Gift Basket For VALENTINES!! =]?

I need some really great ideas on what to include in the gift basket to give my boyfriend of almost twoo years!!! guys, tell me what you would reallllly love to see!!! girls tell me what you think too!!!!! Thanks.. 10pts to best answer ;-)
--------------------
a collage of both of your pictures filled with loving memories.

Get Well Gift Basket Idea's?

I need to make a get well gift basket. One of the gentleman at my company, his wife fell and broke her leg and will be in the hospital for a couple of day. Any idea's of what to put in the gift basket, I didn't really want to do flowers, I figured she will probably be getting a lot of those.
--------------------
I think it would be nice for her to receive lotions, lip balm, a book, a t.v. schedule, a nice cup (so, she wouldn't always need to drink from the styrofoam ones), a fragrance, things she could feel more feminine while she is hospitalized and for when she goes home, unable to walk.

Dont forget the most delecious item all women want, Chocolate! Get the most delicous, yet colorful chocolate at Target, the Choxie brand. http://sites.target.com/site/en/supertar… [Prices usually range from $2.00 and higher depending on size]. Also, you can find these in the food/candy section. Plus: To add a relaxing paradise-y feel for your friend, add bath salts. Buy one at a dollar store, [a pink one preferably] and tie it with a pink ribbon. If you'd rather go the easy route and make it at home, use these: Epsom Salt baking soda (opt) essential oils food coloring jars ribbon, tags, etc. Pour the desired amount of Epsom Salt into a bowl. (This will not harm your bowl). Baking soda is a skin softener, so you can add some if you want to at this point. Add a few drops of essential oil and stir. You can add more as you go along. Then add a few drops of food coloring to achieve the color you want. It doesn't take much! You can see in this picture that I used only 3 drops of green: file:///Users/Own/Desktop/1-27-07+Bath… It will clump a little as you stir it, as you can see, but keep stirring and it will eventually blend and be really pretty.file:///Users/Own/Desktop/1-27-07… I used only 2 drops of red to get pink: file:///Users/Own/Desktop/1-27-07+Bath+S… This is how the pink turned out: file:///Users/Own/Desktop/1-27-07+Bath+S… After you mix it all together, pour it into your jars. A funnel helps. You can include a tiny scoop inside if you want to, or just tie it on with a ribbon. Good places to find jars are: World Market, Walmart, and Target. You can even use Ball jars. I used a combination of eucalyptus peppermint for the green, baby powder for the pink, and tea tree for the yellow. This is how they turned out: file:///Users/Own/Desktop/1-27-07+Bath+S… If I give it as a gift, I like to tie on a pretty ribbon with a tag that has the scent written on it: file:///Users/Own/Desktop/1-27-07+Bath+S… GOOD LUCK!

1. take the greatest common factor of 12 and you get an unsimplifyable amount of 2 shampoo 3 tubes and 5 soaps so your gcf is the answer. 12. 2. take a gcf of 8 out so only 8 teams. and your left with 5 girl and 4 boy and those are your teammates people 5 girls and 4 boys. 3. FIRST OF ALL I DONT UNDERSTAND PART ONE SO THAT WILL NOT BE IN THE ANSWER. Second part's answer is the gcf which is 3. then you have 5 quarters in a group, 10 dimes and 16 nickels and the total money is 3.05 dollars. 4. you take gcf of 9 and you get an unsimplifiable amount so NINE IS YOU ANSWER.

Is this a good christmas idea?

I want to give my boyfriend a gift basket for christmas that I'll put together. I'm thinking about putting in a nice throw blanket, a Zune skin I made him on skinit.com, a candle (He's a big candle guy) The move: Requiem For A Dream And Peppermint bark, cookies, ect. Any other ideas?

Sounds awesome already!!! Does he like Coffee or cocoa? You could get him a nice mug. And if he likes either one, you could also get a bag of nice coffee beans or special hot cocoa to go along with it. Another idea, could be a GC to Blockbuster (or another movie place) maybe even a container of popcorn to go along with it. How great is that, you could watch the movie together one cozy night, while snuggling under the throw blanket from the your basket!

Which system of linear inequalities decribes the condition's in this problem?

Jared earns money by making gift baskets for fathers day. He does one basket filled with finishing supplies and another basket with a sports fan theme, He makes a profit of $9.00 on the finishing Supply basket and a profit of $12.50 on the sports fan basket. He only has time to make 100 baskets and needs to earn at least $1,000 to Cover his summer activities. a) 12.5x + 9y < 1000, x + y > 100 b) 12.5x + 9y < 1000, x + y < 100 c) 12.5x + 9y > 1000, x + y < 100 d) 12.5x + 9y > 1000, x + y > 100 ty in advance. easy points or best answer!
--------------------
The correct answer is C. x is representing the number of supply baskets. y are the sports fan baskets. See how they are multiplied against the money he makes for each one? Now, he has to make 'at least' $1000, so technically it should be greater than or equal to 1000, but then the x + 7, again the number of total baskets made has to be less than 100 (technically less than or equal to) to not run out of time.
