My best friend is leaving for a school-related trip to Ireland next week and I would like to put together a travel-themed birthday basket. Any books or guides about Ireland would be irrelevant because they will not get to do much sight-seeing and what they do will has already been set-up by the school. Any handy travel miscellaneous items too would also be great. Suggestions?

How about getting them some various magazines, books, etc... to read while on the plane! Also you could add some things to the basket like gum, a new CD, DVD (if they're taking a portable DVD player), eye covers to sleep on the plane, etc...
