Hello All, I was invited to my BF's sister's bridal shower which is in a few weeks. I already ordered a frame for her with her and her hubby-to-be's name engraved on it but I think this may be too small a gift. I don't know what else to get her? I was thinking of making her a small gift basket. I know she likes candles (per her mom) but too many candles will make the basket too heavy and may damage it with the weight. :( Any ideas will be appreciated. I will really like to get some ideas from recent brides and brides to be. :) Thanks in advance, Brown Eyed Girl ;) BTW, I already have something to give her from her registry. I will take it to the reception because I don't want to arrive empty-handed.
--------------------
Well first I am thinking that the recertion is mainly for money! I've never went to a wedding where I seen a gift. Even if you give 50 if you're not with a date then thats good. I think the frame is great by itself. I would put maby some candels in the bag! Maby some wine tags or a bottle of wine. You dont want to spend much becasuse its you're sisters bff. You will be fine getting away with that you're giving. I would not bring the gift to the reception she does the registry for the shower!Good luck

If you got a gift you didn't like, would you tell the gift-giver that you don't like it?
What would you do? My mother in law usually tells me she doesn't like what I get for her, and sternly tells me it needs to be returned. Then she will pester me in the days following Xmas to see if I have returned her gift yet. This has made me question whether I should get her anything at all this year, I take offense to this behavior. I was taught to always be gracious and say 'thanks'! FYI, these gifts are very expensive items from high end stores, I'm really trying to get her something she'd like, not just some crappy gift. This year I decided to send mother and father in law a large gift basket full of goodies instead of trying to get them each a thoughtful gift. Am I being sensitive, or am I right to feel this is really rude of my mother in law?
--------------------
when i get something i dont like, i just give it to someone else next year, no big deal. you could always give her a gift certificate, that way you cant be wrong. yeah, you have the right to feel the way you do, this goes beyond insensitivity, it just being mean and disrespectful. if it were me, i would give her a dog turd in a box, then tell her if she didnt like it, she could return it.

V-day gift for an engaged woman and he fiance (21 yrs old)?
I'm looking at making her a gift basket with stuff from Bath and Body Works. It's gonna be a fun kinda 'sexy' gift basket. I've already got a pair of fuzzy handcuffs to put in. Can you browse their website and link me to some things you think would be fun? ONLY stuff from Bath and Body Works please. and try to keep it under or around $50, Thanks sooo much!

they have an aromatherapy line and two of the things are "sensual" they are supposed to be infused with pheromones that put you in the mood (they work, trust me) there's one thats called black currant vanilla and another is jasmine vanilla... the candle works really well if lit about an hour before all the fun ; ) but they have lotion and all kinds of stuff...

Gift for new dad and grandparents?
I'm due in around 6 weeks, and I know that a "push present" is traditionally for the mother, but I'd like to get my husband, and all four grandparents a gift. It needs to be something I can buy or make ahead of time since I'd like to give them the gifts at the hospital. I thought about making a gift basket for each set of grandparents and then one for my husband, but I'm blank on what to put in them. They don't by any means have to be identical, but I'd like to spend $50 to $75 on each. Thanks for all your help!

Frankly, I think those would be very non-traditional gifts that simply are not necessary. You should save that money for your baby as it will need lots of things, or you will need lots of things for you to take care of the baby and you're talking about spending between $250 and $375 for unnecessary gifts. Think what that could buy your baby.

How do I keep a NASA astronaut from stalking me?
I keep getting threatening emails that I am being watched from some nasa.gov email address. I get pictures of my house from space including infrared photos showing me. I thought I was watching a meteor shower but it seems to be localized to where I am at. I went out of town for a few days and found a used adult sized diaper sitting on my doorstep. My satellite dish only gets some wierd webcam of someone floating in no gravity on all channels. I keep getting gift baskets of Tang and toothpaste style food. Someone decorated a flower garden in my yard using real moon rocks. I opened my garage and found a stolen moon rover parked in it. It was supposed to be sunny skies but there is some kind of space shuttle shaped shadow continously over my house. I received a bouquet of flowers not indeginous to earth.

I would like to take a gift basket to an HR person who I feel really bent over backwards getting me a great position. IDK if this would be proper. What type of basket or gift should I get her? I have been working with her for about 10 months.

Honeymoon gift basket wedding present?
A couple of friends of mine are getting married soon, and I need to get them a present, so I'm making them a honeymoon basket. They're going to New York, Venice and the Bahamas, so any ideas what I could put in it (necessities, travel guides, that sort of thing)?
--------------------
suntan oil, travel guides, map, journal, stamps for postcards, gift cards for things they may need like rental cars, etc. , beach towels. If you like silly things, put in 2 apples ( new york is the big apple) a book on pasta dishes ( venice) and flip flops or a recipe for the drink " sex on the beach" for the Bahamas. :)

Would You Buy A PMS Gift Basket For A Woman On Her Period?
For example, this basket would contain chocolate, tissues, tampons, Midol, Sappy Romance movie, and a stress ball.

I wouldn't suggest giving to her, until after she is done....You never know, where that basket, could end up!

for mom besides jewelry, lotion and a book.. anything else? no candles

Hmm...this is tough but I've got a few ideas, mostly from asking my mom what she would like... -a pair of winter gloves and scarf -a gift card for Wal-Mart or her favorite clothing store -scratch-off lottery tickets -a lip gloss or lipstick she likes (personally my mom says she loves Estee Lauder's lip glosses) (you can buy them at an Estee Lauder makeup counter at your local department store) -a box of chocolates or chocolate covered cherries -a coffee mug with hot chocolate mix -a keychain for putting her keys on -a wallet -If she likes cooking in the kitchen try getting her wooden spoons, measuring cups, spatulas, or anything else kitchen-related that you think she might enjoy -a pair of slippers or soft cozy slipper socks -nail polish colors from her favorite brand -pens (personally, my mom is always losing pens!) -a picture frame with a picture of you and her -perfume -miniature umbrella (believe it or not my mom wants one for Christmas and says that they come in handy!) -car fresheners Hope I have helped and hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas :)

Does cheese have to be refrigerated?
I got a gift basket a few days ago with Havarti cheese. I haven't opened it but am wondering if it is good (and safe to eat) since I haven't refrigerated it. Any ideas?
--------------------
I think cheese like that doesn't have to be refrigerated. Like, think about beef and cheese sticks, whenever I see those in stores I don't see them refrigerated. But, idk if you know what that is or not.

what kind of license do i need to open a bakery. space for 1,230 square feet at our mall and 4 mths rent free
and I'll be working for myself. I have $5,000 to start with I'll be making cakes, cookies, and gift baskets. We will have other great products and even so we don't have a bakery here anymore. The guy that use to have a bakery said he made a lot of money and then HEB bought him out and he sold everything and works for them.
--------------------
ordinance has nothing to do with it. As the structure is within a mall its already approved for that kind of use. You will need a construction permit for any work you plan to do on your suite. You will also need health department approval of your kitchen, prep and clean up areas. Really, that's all... and ongoing inspections. I hope the space already was a bakery. $5000 will get very little work done and purchase very little equipment.

Should I pursue my dream of opening an online bakery?
I ask because I don't eevn know where to start. I have baked several cheesecakes that people said were good. I asked if they would buy them, and they said yes (of course they may have been lying). I want to make things like homemade pralines and fudge and send samples to local businesses like gift shops, gift basket companies, etc. Do you think this is the right path? What do you suggest?
--------------------
Of course, if there are no red lights, go for your dream! Now, I don't know much about bakery business, but running it on-line seems an important aspect here. Talk to as many people as possible about your idea. Explain how it is going to work, listen to the comments, questions ans suggestions. You may get valuable feedback about how to set up your business model. Competitors (?) - check out how they are doing. As regards the business plan, do not waste your time with this issue right now. Just prepare the business model in your head. Of course, you may need to test and plot some financials in order to find out additional financing need, sales plan, expense budgets. Just pick up a free online business plan software and play with numbers a bit. You need a full scale, formalized business plan only when going to bankers.

Cookie recipes that do not harden after cooling?
I have been trying to bake cookies for a gift basket for the men at my husband's work. Every recipe I have tried since so far have hardened after cooling the cookies. Am I doing something wrong or does someone have recipes for Oatmeal Raisin, Chocolate chip, and peanut butter cookies that stay soft after cooling? The men at his work like soft chewy cookies not hard ones.
--------------------
I have seen this question a lot. try putting a piece of white bread in the package with the cookies. It will keep them moist. You could also reduce your baking time and cut back on the flour by about 2 tablespoons Here's my pb cookie recipe 1/2 cup peanut butter ( I increase to 3/4 cup) 12 cup butter 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp salt 3/4 tsp soda 1 1/4 cup flour cream butters, sugars and egg blend in vanilla sift in dry ingredients. preheat oven to 375 roll cookies into 1/2 inch balls and smash with a fork. bake 7-9 minutes. these will stay soft if you don't overbake

What are popular nail polish colors for teens? Please give me your prreferences and ages.?
I hope to hear from young girls and teens, or their moms for this question. Do teens like the traditional reds and pinks, or do you prefer shades like greens and blues? Do you like polish for your toenails, too? I'm putting together a gift basket, and I need your input. Thanks in advance.

which x-mas gift sounds better for my boyfriend mom?
I've been with my boyfriend for 4 months. I see his mom at least a couple times a week and i know a few things about her. she is very religous (christian-lutheran), she loves tea, she doesn't cook a lot and she doesn't use many fancy lotions, bath products but i think it might be because of economical reasons. last year her sons got her a spa certificate for manicure/pedicure and it took her 6-7 months to use it (right before it expired). which one do you prefer? 1. tea set 2.gift basket with a whole banch of different treats like chocolates, tea, a nice lotion, crosswords, lip balm, a nice tree ornament and mabe a book? Also, if you have any other ideas feel free to suggest. I have a tight buget but i'm willing to pay if it is a good idea. thank you in advance :)

I'd get the second one. (: Sounds lovely!

"Free Night of Baby Sitting" Coupons, cute gift idea?
A couple of my friends are having babies in a few months and along with the gift basket I am putting together for them, I was thinking about making a couple coupons for each basket for a free night of baby sitting since the girls are 19 and can't always depend on their parents. Is this a good idea to help them out? I am very responsible with kids and have tons of little cousins (I am one of the oldest out of all my cousins, and theres a lot, lol) and I used to baby sit the kids in the neighbor hood all the time. Let me know what you think....thanks!
--------------------
I would be THRILLED! They may not use them for quite a while (depending on their attachment level and if she's breastfeeding), but they may come in handy in a year.

I am currently on a very tight budget, but I don't want to go empty handed. Would it be acceptable if I made her a homemade cookie basket or something along those lines?
--------------------
Definitely, if anything it shows that you put in that extra bit of effort and thought :) handmade gifts always have a nice personal touch.

Making a big gift basket for new baby of co-worker, what are some good things to include?
We have taken up a collection at work, I'm the only female here, so its been pretty much me who is handleing it. I don't have any kids, so I'm not familiar about all the little things you end up needing that you don't get at showers and what-not. This guy's wife has 2 older kids but this is their first together and she had given all the baby stuff away b/c she thought she was done, :) It is a little girl also, and the older kids are boys...so they need pretty much everything. We are getting them a stroller, but want to do a "goody basket" too. I have about $125 to spend, I know the basics like diapers, wipes, some outfits, pasifiers, maybe some crib sheets, what are some things that kind of get forgotten and you end up needing? She says she has plenty of blankets, so thats out. Help me out mommies! :)

What can I use to make a gift basket without actually using a basket?
I love the idea of buying (for my sister) a bunch of cake, muffin, brownie and cookie mixes but I haven't a clue WHAT to put it in. She's only 14 so an actual basket seems a little bit mature. I was kind of leaning toward some sort of organizer thingy majigger because she's very neat and tidy. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Keep in mind that I'd like that "basket" to be quite cheap; it cannot be over $10 because I am on a tight budget and I only have about $20 to spend on her overall. I'm shooting for as many baking mixes as possible and I don't want to waste money on a container/basket/whatchamacallit she might not ever use or care about.

What are some sentimental but inexpensive gift ideas for my parents?
My sister and I already bought them each a small present from us, but I also want to do something special for the both of them because we've had some really creative presents in the past. I was thinking of putting together a gift basket for the two of them, but I don't know what I'd put in it.. I already got a lotion/hand soap set for my mom and a mini RC helicopter for my dad (he's a kid at heart lol). Any ideas of what I could put in the basket, or easy things I could make for them instead? Thanks!
--------------------
you could make them some cookies or buy some chocolates and put that in the baskets. christas ornaments are good too. hallmark has cute ones that are good for everyone. mini packets of coffee and a coffee cup would be good if they like to drink coffee. you can also get cheap movies at walmart which would be good if they like to watch movies. you could also put a picture of you and your siblings in a cute picture frame and put that in there for them too.
