Bear with me as I try to summarize. I'm a basket case as I type this. Today, my beloved dog snuck out and got lost. We looked for her for hours. Up and down our street, the neighborhood, etc. Called the police, the animal shelter, etc. 3 hours into the search a lady approaches my husband, who's driving up and down her street (The dog was spotted once and the street is that location.) She asked him what he was looking for, he said our dog. She asked him to describe the dog; he did. She told him that yes, she found the dog and had her there for awhile, but had to call Animal Control to bring her to the pound, because the lady herself has an old dog and a) the old dog doesn't like other dogs and b) our dog was a stranger, so it wasn't safe to keep her, but she wasn't going to just let the dog wander off. I want to give her a nice thank-you gift. I'm not thinking clearly so need some suggestions. She wouldn't accept money-We get our dog back tomorrow morning from the pound.

Get her a nice thank you card for making sure that you dog was safe, and a treat for her dog like treats or a toy. Or if the woman is older offer to have your husband do something nice for her along with the thank you card. Or maybe in the card you can write something like to repay your kindness my husband would like to help you with trimming your bushes and shrubs this spring.
