I am thinking about starting a small ebusiness. Do I need permission to use existing products: Milk-bone dog biscuits, for example do I need to contact manufacturer? Additionally, should I enclose a disclaimer to protect me from liability if someone burns down their house by using candles packaged in basket improperly...something along the lines of "Please read and follow manufacturers labeling, (My business name) can not be held liable for failure to do so." Thanks!

No, you are not breaking any laws by doing that. Just make sure that in your description you list the items that are in it...ex. Milkbone Dog Biskits. As far as the candles...make sure that you package them properly and you won't be responsible if their house burns down (include all warnings). The bad part about your own business is that even if you include a label saying your company can not be held liable for things...it won't hold up in court unless the person has signed a paper agreeing to it (which isn't likely to happen seeing as the basket would more than likely be for someone other than the person who bought it). I suggest you contact a small business lawyer before opening your business to make sure you have done everything on your part that you can to protect your business. Good Luck.
