How to start a small business?

I would like to sell comforters, sheets, curtains and gift baskets I will make myself. What can i do first and is this a ggod idea.

If your friends are asking to buy your products at prices that make you a good profit, consider asking them to spread the word that you are in the business. This is basically a technique for determining brand loyalty. If you do not have brand loyalty your prospects in business are poor. If your friends are not asking to buy your products, try to develop that aspect first. Once you have saturated your very local market, you may be ready to start advertising to bring in new customers. E-Bay can give you an opportunity to present yourself as an upscale supplier. but so too can local boutiques. Don't even pitch to big box stores early. You can not yet supply their scale requirements.
