I am starting a new business providing gift baskets and small items for Real Estate and Apartment complexes to provide to residents and new home buyers. I am trying to decide how I should go about approaching the businesses. Should I just show up with a flyer and a box of samples if they have time to view them. Or should I do cold calling first I know I do not have the resources at the time to do mailers or a e-mail blast. Could you please advise on cost effective methods to get my business out there

Is this the right market to be starting up business in that industry? Are you wanting to do this in your local area only? I would find the larger real estate agencies and give them fliers. The office then delivers the flier to everyone in their office, as they have their own mail slot. I would also create a Facebook group/page and ask the local real estate agents to join, then you can post pictures and market to them.
