Who is usually present a gift basket and who is present separate things for newborn baby and parents? Is there some practice in the US?

i always give baskets for baby showers. i buy the items separately and make it myself. i can get what i know they will want and not what a factory throws together. this is what i usually put in motrin baby wash shampoo towel wash cloth baby powder a little stuffed animal diaper rash cream gas drops syrup of ipecac (not sure about the spelling) liquid charcoal i'll buy the little bottles (travel size) and put it in a basket and stick a bow on it and viola, i'm done!!!
