I have a young couple (mid 30s) who rents a house from my company and the man's wife just died unexpectedly. We've only been renting to them for a few months and don't know them very well, but I still feel like we should do something nice for their family. What's something I can send a man and his children that's different than the flowers, gift baskets, etc. that they are alreadt getting swamped with right now?

Since you didn't know this family, I think a tasteful sympathy card would be enough. Nothing fancy or wordy - just expressing sympathy to the man and his children for the loss of a wife and mother.
