does anyone have ideas for retailers that make cash donations to a school?

I am doing a gift card raffle basket for my son's school and i'm having some problems asking for donations.

You don't say where you are. I don't know of any retailers that would just hand over cash. Most, if they donate at all will give you something from their inventory, or maybe a gift card. I would start with places you patronize yourself. If you have gone to the same hair stylist for several years you could ask he/she for a gift card for services or products from their salon. Try restaurants that you eat at often. It is generally best to speak to a manager on duty, as a salesperson or cashier wouldn't normally have the authority to give something away. You could also ask some of the other parents to gather some of the gift cards to go in the basket as well. Some of them my have their own business, or may have connections that you do not.
