gifts not delivered on time?

I order a number of gift baskets from a reputable company that I have used and trusted in the past. They guarenteed delivery by christmas when you order by a certain date. I ordered well within the time limit. its now 2 days after christmas and 2 of my gifts have not arrived. According to the tracking device the gifts are still in a city 300 miles away from their destination. It a four hour drive and they gifts have been at the fedex office since dec 23rd. Their guarentee said "we'll make it right" but wasn't any more specific. I have no idea how they would make it right and what I should expect. Does anyone know what happens in these situations? if they ask me what I want out of this what should I say or ask for? Is it reasonable to ask for a partial or full refund if they don't meet the guarentee. I already emailed the company to explain the situation.

I had a screw up from a courier service once and they refunded me the shipping fee's that I paid. If you tell them that you never plan to use their services again they might give you free services in the future but with a screw up like that why would you want to,
