i found an old dresser that i want to paint for my brother and his wife. there about to have a baby this december and mentioned that they needed a dresser. i love paining and decorating. the mom hasnt had her baby shower and doesnt have a theme for the nursery. what could i paint on it that would go with anything but still be cute for a baby boy?? any ideas for a baby shower gift or gift basket? i dont have any kids, so what are things that are useful??

Well you should ask the parent's for thier input, I think that is a wonderful gift that you would give them, kudos to you. If you don't want them to know (as a surprise) you could go with zoo animals, space theme (my personal favorite), cars/trucks, or sports, or some crazy combo of them all.... I found that the greatest baby shower gift given to me was a small wicker laundry basket filled with a pack of diapers, a box of wipes and a few onesies & blankets, the other favorite and most usefull gift was a baby bathtub filled with a bottle of baby shampoo, lotion , power & oil, wash cloths, and baby towels a 1 rubber duck. Simple things that they will need so much of (so it won't matter if they get several of the same item), work the best. I think the dresser is a heartfelt and thoughtful gift!
