It has been put upon our hearts (my husband and I) to give food/care baskets to a families that are in need during this Holiday season. I'm looking for ideas as to what to put in the baskets, I know that we need non perishable food items but can use some ideas of other items that would be useful. Like socks etc,. these baskets are going to be like the ones that are given to the needy during this time of year we just want them to be extra special.

Depending on the climate, it might also be nice to put in hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves. You can also include some nice toiletries - shampoo, body lotions, toothpaste, brushes, nail files, deoderant, band-aids, etc. Also, since it's for the holidays, you could include small holiday decorations (such as ornaments) or blankets. Arts and craft materials are another option - puzzles, game books, novels. Also, consider office supplies - like pens, notebooks, journals, calenders. It's wonderful for you to be donating these baskets and whatever you put in it could be personalized to reflect the types of things that you like.
