i've got a whole box of baskets i wanna re-use as gift baskets,but they have dust deep down in every crevice. i'm assuming water will make them swell....not sure what to do?

I've cleaned wicker baskets with water and they were fine. Just make sure they dry quickly--hang them up in sunlight or in a breeze. I usually put them in the bathtub or shower and spray them with very hot water. Spraying them with windex, vinegar or an ammonia solution wouldn't hurt. Spray on, rinse off 5 minutes later. Don't use anything soapy or you'll have to rinse a lot.
